    I think the new Titan is a damn good looking truck. The payload and towing capacities don't bother me; as others have said, anything more than 10k on a 1500 truck is pushing it. I think TFL had the same gripe for the Power Wagon, but the truth is, both are trying to carve out a space in the off road market with that trim level. I purchased a 2018 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x about a year ago and I am very satisfied with the truck. Nissan may have screwed up with their CVT in their car, but their trucks have always been a good buy. If this new Titan is any indicator, I'm looking forward to the refreshed Frontier next year.

      Have they ever put a cvt in a truck? Is the new 9 speed a cvt? If not this may be my next truck.

    • @Dave-ek2jx
      @Dave-ek2jx 4 роки тому +2

      @@nateyoung6331 No, it is not a CVT. CVT = Continuously Variable Transmission. They don't actually have gears. Picture the transmission in a snowmobile.
      In short, if it is a 6 speed, 9 speed, etc., it isn't CVT. Which is good, because CVTs are generally only good in commute vehicles.

    Did an overnight test drive. I'm a former 09 Altima SL owner and I loved that vehicle. When I first got into this exact titan minus the red Color I fell in love. I was so comfortable in my Altima and this felt interior wise like I was back in it. To me not being spoiled i think this interior is amazing and worth the money. I don't care about it not having high towing capacity or payload, don't care that it has a 9 inch screen compared to the ram 1500 12 inch. Took it back roading all day and it was quiet, except the nice exhaust that didn't drone on and on like the trd tundra. I will gladly pay the money to buy this very underrated truck

I sold it recently for a Q50 RS because I wanted to get back into a Sports Sendan, for those who want to know. Regarding the towing numbers, the big 3 all claim amazing towing numbers, but very few of the ones that roll off the line can tow anywhere near that. Fact is that it takes (often) several packages to get that kind of number. Titan's towing number is pretty consistent in all models (higher in XD) so you actually know what you are capable of towing.

      @JS-um4vr 4 роки тому +18

      Honestly, I think the 12k, 13k plus tow ratings for the 1/2 ton trucks are a joke. Most of the higher end versions of those don't have a high enough payload rating to tow anywhere near that with any reasonable amount of tongue weight. It seems like most are in the 1,300 lb range for payload (if you look at the door sticker vs. reading the mfg. website or articles), which means with 10% tongue weigh on a 13k trailer, you can hook it up - but can't put a driver in the cab!

      Right! First of all, these people talking about the Ford towing 13,000 lbs wouldn't ever tow that much
      Secondly, they wouldn't buy a stripped down base model xl, regular cab with no options equipped with the max tow package and the 3.5 EcoBoost because that's the truck you have to get in order to tow 13,000 lbs. Not something most truck buyers would buy. Get a similarly equipped half ton from other manufacturers and the payload and towing ratings are alot closer.

    I spent months researching and seeing/test driving all the competition between the Ram Rebel, Silverado trail boss, tundra trd pro and Titan pro4x. I just purchased a 2020 fully loaded Titan pro-4X for $49,871 in grey. After seeing and driving them all the features and quality was well above all the competition. I don’t know how someone could think any of the others would be better. And the payload and towing on the Titan was higher than any of the other off-road capable trucks I tested. I also checked with ford and I don’t find a comparable ford. (Besides the raptor I didn’t find a true off road multi purpose truck). On the interior the Ram was the only thing that came close but even the ones I could find didn’t have as many features. I didn’t even find one with the 12” screen in my price range. Icing on the cake, 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty continues.

    Hey guys. In regards to towing capacity, i would say the titan is class competitive relatively speaking. Here me out. I just bought a 2020 ram big horn crew cab 5.7 (non e.tq) with 3.32 rear end. It is only rated to tow 9100 lbs. And I've noticed this for several other trucks as well when shopping that you can only get the max towing capacity advertised in specific configurations which aren't typically purchased.

  • @kane6106

    Excellent truck. I have an '18 SL midnight edition XD with the cummins/aisin. My dad has an f150 which can tow over 12k due to actually being equipped properly (99% of f150s sold only tow 7k to 9k, NOT 13.5k). We much prefer the xd at that weight because over 7-8k consistent towing you really should be looking to an HD. 12k pushes the truck around A LOT.

    It's interesting, that Nissan ended up where it is in trucks. I can remember as a kid growing up in 70's in SoCal when Datsun "mini-trucks" were king having about a 10 year head start (1959) and Toyota was just getting started with a pickup truck (the 'Hilux' the first one offered 1968). Issues, paint has faded, California sun (garaged for about 5 years, after that left outside), steering wheel leather on the backside has been damaged by the sun. Other than that it has been amazing. Also, I run 35’s with no issues. I have been looking to replace it, not really happy with anything out there, but this new Titan looks real good. Options for options, the Titan still a bargain. The payload and towing are fine. If anyone wants to tow more than 95001lbs, that should seriously consider a 3/4 ton. Way to much stress on a half ton truck motor and suspension with all that weight. Longevity will be shortgevity pulling so much weight with a half ton truck

    2020 Nissan Titan: Front 41.8", Rear: 38.5" [Combined: 80.3"]
    2020 Ram 1500: Front 40.9", Rear: 45.2" [Combined: 86.1"]
    2020 Ford F-150: Front 43.9", Rear: 43.6" [Combined: 87.5"]
    6-7.5 more inches in the cabin is a noticeable size difference. I should have quantified my comment before instead of using an arbitrary word like "absurd". I was actually surprised the Ford beat the Ram in legroom given all the hub-bub Ram got for the +4 inches they added in the rear for 2019 redesign.

One thing that I am not sure about is in Alex on Autos review he mentioned that when backing up to a trailer the rear parking sensor kept beeping and he couldn't turn it off, but that was on an SV trim. It would be rather annoying trying to line up your trailer and having that alarm go off. It looks like this one may have that sensor switch by what Tommy pointed out, but not sure.
    Nice that they gave you TFL red instead of the Baja Storm which is what everyone was getting. I love the Baja Storm color and the dark grey, but it was everyone and slightly losing its appeal and coolness. Here in a year I may consider this truck especially in the preowned market or if there are decent discounts. Thanks for sharing.

    I love mine I say solid 7.5 rating. I had a Silverado and I say very poor build quality and inside was a bunch of hard plastic. 4.5. My f150 was a solid 7.0 I had to take it to the dealership for a few fixes the first month

    I like it a lot ... the only thing is that right now you can get better trucks for the same price . If you want an off-road truck but for care about anything else get a tundra trd pro. If you want a nice exterior but don’t care about interior looks get a Chevy trail boss. Ford and ram are bit more we’ll balance in my opinion... the interior ram in the best by far the, but the exterior it’s ok but it has good options...
    To me the ram is the most well balanced between off-road and every day driving.. very comfortable

    Who is really towing 12 to 13 thousand pounds in a 1500 chassis. Personally that is too risky for me as someone who regularly tows between 6 to 8 thousand pounds. Just because I could doesn't mean I would with a 1500. If I'm spending the money anyways I'm already buying the 2500. So who cares that I could. Plus the majority of consumers dont tow beyond 8000 anyways if they even tow on average with a 1500. Just my thoughts as an individual who is a sales rep for all of those truck brands Chevy Ford Ram Toyota and Nissan. Ive never had a customer tell me they want a 1500 chassis to tow over 11 grand. They always point to a 2500. And for good reason. It's very risky to tow something that heavy and not at least use a 5th wheel. Which I wouldnt do on a 1500 because that would be stupid. You need a heavier chassis to counter the potential for trailer sway. That said, I love that Titan. Fantastic and it does have the industry best standard warranty. 5 yr 100k miles bumper to bumper. I love all trucks, but towing over 12 grand in a 1500 is scary. Low and slow
