There is a measurable performance drop, but not as big as you would expect given the naming convention. A double-wide card plugged into a PCI-E x4 slot is way better than a single-wide plugged into a x16 slot. I'm not sure about it, but I keep looking at the pin layout for the PCIE connector. Seems the 12v connectors are all in the 1st section of the slot. I've been running mine a month now (Gigabyte one). With some undervolting it will not even throttle and it runs cooler. I have paired it with e3 1241 v3 with 0.100 undervolt on that one as well.
You may be able to fit the 1050 TI and a Wi-Fi card. Good configuration but the CPU may not be able to keep up. If you’re gonna use it for gaming, you may want to stick to older games that aren’t very demanding.
how did you have to modify the smaller pci slot to accept the larger card? Working on a 3040 but I think the black connector is a PCIeX1 not and X4 and the back of the connector is not open.

I got a Dell SFF T1700 with Xeon E3-1225 v3 @3.2GHz, 2x8 16GB ram (extra 2 slots), 255W PSU, 1TB SSD. Planning on getting a LP 1650 but I dont know if I should? I dont wanna upgrade if I can save up for a better pc. Especially if I also need to upgrade the other components. If I dont need to upgrade any other components then ill buy the graphics card.
BTW these types of Dell Optiplex PC's have NVIDIA drivers and stuff installed. So when you put an Nvidia graphics card in it, it will instantly install.

Is there a way to plug a low profile gtx1650 into the blue slot? I would like better performance. I had to cancel my Amazon order when I realized I was going to have problems. If I move the power supply a bit it could solve the problem? (even if it means damaging the side case). Will it be compatible or just can't be used? Another silly question, what happens if I connect the card upside down? I want to say that the HDMI ports are inside the PC and not outside, I think that would fit, but I'm definitely a newbie on this topic.
It would plug into the 4x slot and do just fine. The performance hit is negligible. You could always run a PCIe extension cable to a dock outside of the case if you really wanted to use the 16x slot. In that case, if it were me, I’d rather take out the RAM and SSD and sell the 9020 on eBay, then turn around and buy a 7010 or 9010 so I could have the 16x slot farther from the power supply, max out the RAM and add extra storage. You may even break even that way depending on the deal you find.
Can you remove the dvi connector? I have a similar problem with an hp rp5800, 1030 fan less is OK with big rad but this 1050ti block with this fucking dvi bracket of hell.
Im getting this exact graphics card put in my 9020, probably going to prop something under the back end of the card, i just dont like how it sags and droops down. this shortcut is nice and convenient but doesn't seem healthy with half the card hanging there, only holding on by half a slot. Although I do find it pretty cool how u can still use a GPU in a WI-FI card slot!

Troubleshooting from Dell: *Disconnect the system from the wall socket and keep the power button pressed for atleast 15 - 20 secs here we are trying to release static charge from the system. Then connect the system back to the wall socket and try to power on the system. *If the above step fails restart the system and check if the light at the back of the system where you mentioned you see a black radial button.If the light next to it light's up then the power supply unit works fine. *After performing the above steps if you get the desired result then its a possible case of system board failure. I don’t work for Dell so I would advise to reach out to them.

Yea I don’t mind the performance hit. When testing it, there’s about a 9 or 10% difference. Is yours a MT? This one’s a SFF. That would explain why you have more 16x slots. A lot of people get these type of computers for free when their work or school upgrades and they just get what they get. The most important things for that PC is you're not going to be using graphics intensive programs like games or video/photo editing and you want it to feel fast and run multiple programs at once would be the RAM and SSD. 16gb of RAM should be plenty, but I would suggest an SSD with DRAM to run the operating system and use your 1tb HDD just for storage so it feels fast and doesn't get bogged down over time.

You are losing performance ~10-15% by using the black pcie x4 slot. The lenovo and hp sff's don't have the x16 slot right next to the psu like that. Still cool though I was about to buy one of these but I will just keep my rx 550 4gb in the x16 slot. The amd rx 550 4gb low profile is also a VERY affordable option and great for anyone looking to upgrade these sff PCs.
Just b/c of price at the time and I wanted to focus on budget builds. I believe the 1650 is more even to the 1050 ti price-wise now. I should feature it in my next video.
doing these for arcades, I just take the power supply out and use the 16x. Drill a hole in the cover, set the psu on top, and run the power wires through. i7-6700 and 1050ti's with the 240w psu works perfectly for retro style new games and hyperspin w old arcade games. Or just get a 7040 mid tower and not deal w the nonsense.
I’m about to drop a video installing and testing the RTX A2000. It blows the 1050 ti out of the water. I think it would take even better advantage of that i7 for you. I pulled my 1050 ti out of my daily driver arcade setup (7010 with an i5) and switched to the A2000.
@@OptiGPU there's always betterm but it's what I've had for a while. Also, when emulating, it's more processing. And a 1050ti is more than enough for any newer style retro games you'd play with arcade type controls, and it's really low consumption m cheap.

Me explico en el caso de este modelo de Dell Optiplex 780 tendría que rompe una parte del casé x la tarjeta de video trae en dos líneas el soporte me refiero el HDMI Displays en una línea y a lado de esta el DVI. Entonces cuando quieres instalar la tarjeta la parte del DVI pega con el case. Eso veo según veo como es la tarjeta de video y el case de la Optiplex 780. Disculpe por el testamento 😅
Low profile means its smaller than your regular machine or a graphics card that means it doesn't take much space as what would a regular sized GPU/computer is.

The x4 slot is supposed to only supply 25 W, but the card still works and I've been gaming daily with it for 4 months now.

More likley is Windows 10 detects new hardware and installs the correct driver for you, but it is usually older than the latest version.

You might need to file/sand off a few mm off the bottom edge of the cards backplate metal to fit down right.

Me explico en el caso de este modelo de Dell Optiplex 780 tendría que rompe una parte del casé x la tarjeta de video trae en dos líneas el soporte me refiero el HDMI Displays en una línea y a lado de esta el DVI. Entonces cuando quieres instalar la tarjeta la parte del DVI pega con el case.
Eso veo según veo como es la tarjeta de video y el case de la Optiplex 780.

Low profile means its smaller than your regular machine or a graphics card that means it doesn't take much space as what would a regular sized GPU/computer is.
