Haha yeah that little DSL is a fire breather! I finally grabbed the DSL20, and it absolutely SLAMS! Incantation/Morbid Angel style death metal to Satriani/EVH tones. Love it, and I have one of those VHT Fatbottom 2x12s with the P50Es and it loves the DSL20. Killer cab. I also ran it on a Soldano vertical 2x12 which is way bigger sounding than any 2x12 I’ve ever tried and the Marshall sounds like a 100w amp. Unreal.

After some decades of rather love-hate concerning Marshalls and some testing of some newer models, which also did not convince me really, but at least more than JCM's the DSL1-HR simply was love at the first tone!
The by far best Marshall clean sound ever plus an excellent 100% Marshall high-gain sound, with it's own, but great character. This tiny box really has "balls"!
Perfect for recording through a load box and with cabinet IR's.

Yeah, the little Marshalls are really astounding. I tried out the combo versions of the 1w, 5w, 20w and 40w earlier this past summer at my local music store. I liked the 20w version that best (low wattage w/EL34's!), but they were all really something else...especially for the price points. A couple months later a used DSL20CR in mint condition came along and I was all over it. It's perfect for late night home playing at 10w and it can effectively be used in a small live situation or as a backup amp for your main amp at 20w.

@@user-os3ko9fw3c Everyone has a different idea of what "loud" is. At 10w you can push it pretty hard and still get decent tone and saturation at "relatively low" volume levels. But I'm an old school player used to playing thru a tempered 100w Marshall half stack and my idea of "normal" volume levels means the pictures are shaking a little on the walls...in your neighbor's house.

I giged with one for years now because there easy on the back and the tubes cook a lot sooner because there lower tolerances and they sound better than a lot of huge stadium amps because there already naturally 🔥 and you don't have to push them so much at top volumes to get the break up,DSL-1-CR is killer in my ears! It even works when my wife is watching TV ;-). (most of the time)
The Ultra Gain channel sounds a bit dull for my taste.

Les Paul Classic ebony 2021, 59 strat, and a Frankinstrat through a Dsl1h, 1x12 silver jubilee cab with a uk greenback, ocd 1.7, mxr carbon copy, vox hw wah, byang triverb reverb.

Got myself the DSL1 last year.
In front: Ibanez Tubescreamer with integrated booster and in FX loop 10 band EQ, amp plugged into a 1x12 inch G12T-75 Celestion.
The 10 band EQ in FX loop provides a rich sound when playing at very low volumes, I can absolutely recommend an EQ when playing in an appartment! The Resonance and Presence is missing, you can dial this missing parts in when using the EQ in the FX loop, very great :)
This Amp ist just killer with this stuff in the ultra gain channel...
The headphone output sucks ass btw...But the rest really does the job!

Dime the clean channel and hit it with an SD1 it’s like a less compressed version of the Ultra it really opens up and is more of the classic Marshall sound. Yeah you can’t really get sparky crystal clean tones with it but rolling back on the volume and using the neck pickup will definitely get you by on cleanish parts . I think I try and put the master around noon and the gain around 3 or so not necessarily dimed . Then SD1 start like Euge sets his and then add pedal gain to taste with the SD1 . Put something in the loop with a volume control EQ pedal is best . Now I want to try a DSL 1 maybe even trade my Rectoverb for two DSl1s and a couple 1x12s and some stereo effects lol . The DSL 20 and the Rectoverb 25 are both really too loud for at home, but the neighbors seem to like them so far .

Hi Euge! Great sounds, music and guitar playing, as always :-) I have a question. Can you compare feel of the DLS1H vs DLS20H? I had DLS20H and now (1 year) i have 6505MH (for me, it sounds better at low volumes with cabinet). I liked DSL20H clean channel with cranked master or with effects (like fuzz, OD, etc). But the OD channel was too squeezed/compressed for me. On 6505MH i like rhythm channel with only bright switch on (no crunch switch). For more bite i use Boss Super Overdrive similarly as you :-) And the main question: has the DLS1H same playing feel as DLS20H, or is it more "open" (as it looks at this video)? Thanks and all the best!

Yeah that’s what it was designed for I guess. I mean 100w sounds like s%#t if you don’t crank the master enough so that power tubes start to actually do something 😎. And when they do oh man that’s the tone. But insanely loud without a load box / attenuator / reactive load.

I have a Marshall Origin 212 cabinet that I want to pair my DSL1H with. Problem is the Origin 212 cabinet has two 16 ohm speakers wired in parallel making it 8ohms. I wired it in series making it a 32ohm unit. Will this be an issue for the 16ohm DSL1 head?
