    My plan B is Starlink. I have a new nonactivated Gen 3 standard kit under the bed. I have been using T-Mobile home internet 7 months a year at home and 5 months while traveling in the RV during the summer. I asked and was told that this was acceptable. If this is no longer the case I will cancel T-Mobile in a heartbeat. I am already upset with them over false promises and price hikes. I refuse to switch to the new “Away” plan.

    As a truck driver everything is already expensive for us. Home internet was amazing and a bright spot for $50. Now $160 is insane, hopefully the power cord lasts more than a month 😂

    After seeing your last video on T-Mobile Home Internet I cancelled the plan. We are not full- timers, but take long trips. T- Mobile worked well for us. I went with the FMCA T-Mobile Hot Spot. $60 mth plus a one-time $40 fee for the device. Put them side-by-side (before returning the Home Internet) and got the same speeds. The FMCA $50 “annual” fee is not a big deal as they offer a lot of other services.

    I received an e-mail notice from T-Mobile on July 11th stating that unless I moved my home internet device to the approved address, update to a new eligible address, or change my internet plan, my service will be suspended on Aug. 1st, 2024. I am currently using it at my seasonal RV site (not an approved location) which is 15 miles from my approved home address. I was hoping to continue using it until mid-Oct. then move it to my home. My local T-Mobile reps were unaware anyone was being shut off. They were of little help other than to say call customer service or wait until Aug. 1st to see what happens. Not sure what I will do yet.

    I was using mine full time under the $50 a month. When I went to pause it they weren’t doing it anymore and not allowing people to travel with it. When it was reliable it was great but it was very reliable in most areas. Definitely not worth $160 a month.

    I have the business version of T-Mobile internet under my Tax Id for $50 with a static IP for $3 I use in my own outdoor modem. Was there any chatter about them doing the same on that or just the home one ?

    Does the hardware have an antenna port? Without that, it's an expensive choice that's not a whole lot better than using my phone as a hotspot. We used the Home version while traveling last winter. If we didn't have phone coverage (Georgia mountains) the Home internet didn't work, either. It was faster than the phone hotspot, but not as fast as our cable internet at home.

    i've been waiting for something like this for the last 13 years. $160? hell yes! i'm in. no more airbnb asking if the wifi is good. just travel, go to new spot, call ahead to see if the place has tmobile coverage and plug in! i earn that 160 in a few hours of work anyways. i'm doing it!

      There many reps who told customers they could use it mobile because T-Mobile was not enforcing the clearly stated fixed location terms - probably to get their commission. As we understand it, address validation will apply to all.

    Curious if you've seen any more evidence of TMO implementing geo-fencing yet for TMHI? Have to make a decision within 2 weeks on leaving it away for security cameras or taking it south until next spring.

    The US pays the highest cost in the world for the slowest internet services. This is ridiculous. $160?!! Guess I'll be staying with Starlink and staying away from trees.

    I have T-Mobile phone/watch plans and would NEVER use their Away plan. Absurd pricing is the primary reason followed by spotty/weak service. I went with SIMO a few months ago back and have already found areas where the AT&T signal was much better so a simple reconfigure of the SIMO 5G and we were up with a strong signal. T-Mobile is missing a hige opportunity by sxrewing over the Home plan users. I predict a loss of revenue is just around the corner.

    To expensive T-Mobile. Also worthless in many state, national parks and boondocking sites where there is no or little cellular. We use Calyx for cellular hotspot and Starlink mini to fill in. Starlink mini has a 50GB plan and unlimited and can be paused.

    Oh so its Tmobiles way of kicking people off lol. Starlinks faster and is available in ALOT more locations, and is a lot cheaper LOL.

    • @gf2e
      @gf2e 3 місяці тому +2

      I think this is a pretty bad plan. But Starlink is *not* a lot cheaper. Only $10/month less.
      The Starlink dish is $600. It’ll take 5 years before you save money on Starlink. And I wouldn’t be surprised if you want to upgrade your Starlink dish in less than 5 years.
      EDIT: I will be using Starlink instead of TMO, but I already have a Starlink dish so it’s an obvious choice.

      @@gf2eI pay 120 for SL and just update my address as needed (and get standard priority)
      Current SL kit price is $299
      Break even @ 7.5 months

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  3 місяці тому +2

      The $299 dish if for fixed locations only in certain states. If you want to move locations to a state not eligible for that deal, Starlink will have you pay the difference in price first.
