I started playing a few days ago and i felt proud af when i lasted more than two weeks. I had the world mapped out and had a fair amount of resources on chests at base, felt confident, strong, happy... And then, suddenly, winter started and i died on the third day into the season. It was Pathologic all over again 😂.
8:30... Homie nooo... That's why public becomes unplayable in the first autumn and everyone leaves when winter starts... "no more pigs? no more armor?" The same logic but even stricter applies to setting the forest randomly on fire... there are still ressources like the gras tuft that are just not renewable so maybe not set tufts on fire for funsies hehe. The solo experience is showing.
I understand the perspective but most beginners will not explore the map thoroughly enough to get all the resources and will die early game so I always say to just use everything in the world to learn to survive because most of the time it won’t last either way
@@poxartxe A good seasonal checklist loaded with good tips. However, it will spoiler parts of the journey while skipping the most common beginner problems - getting food, how to heal and lastly the incredible importance of armor I feel like.~ Notably day5-ish "let's AVOID the spiders at all cost" and in winter day1 suddenly "ah yes let's cook all our spiders". :D

geez.. I've been playing this game for 5 years and didn't even know about that lunar island, ruins or anything that has to do with sanity. Having to deal with sanity and not knowing how to fix is was one of the Biggest drawbacks that prevented me from playing the game.
Picked the game a few days ago. Survived my first winter and currently mid spring. Thank you. Here comes summer. I also fought the Christmas special Deerclops with the laser. Caught me off guard because kiting back doesn't always work. Need to do a bit of curving.
Im so glad i found this guide! The game explains nothing and my bf and i have had to restart for one reason or another 5 times already. I wont lie as a beginner it is an incredibly demoralizing game, especially on xbox where the controls seem to make no sense and mods arent available
Willow is in fact the best character. I know this because I said so. I would say I love you but Greg is watching me. I can’t blink or I die. Fish foods are good.
A big tip is to not be too full of yourself. For example you might be great at kiting. But if youre playing with friends and have lag, just consider playing around having to tank attacks or picking wigfrid like i do when i play with my NA friends from EU.
A quick note to how i kill the beefalos. Theres basiclly two kinds of aggro as ive seen, being annoyance aggro and hit aggro, as if you hit one beefallo and make it chase you the others will lose interest while the one being hit wont.
I do it by using the mouse to move, if you click on the spot you want to go then check the map before you get to it you can walk and check the map at the same time
ok listen i have something really important to say but am i the only who noticed the fckin guy in the top right who found out he was colorblind when poxar talked about the purple gem. poor dude nobody else seemed to notice its at 22:34
Inknow im very late but for anyone that is past the survival curve just please turn off wildfires. Every person that has made a mega base in this game which is most of the dst community has wild fires off, though flingos are still good to stop grass and transplanted plants from wilting so take notes for any other tips you find in the comments;)
POXAR.. please help, I got my game stuck on 4k when my monitor is 1080p. It’s just zoomed in and I can’t click the apply button to change the settings. It’s also locked on full screen and there’s nothing on the klei website about it
Cant belive thad i need to start over In my first winter i was hunting for food, so i try killing a nother beefolo, idk how but he took all most my health, so i run trying to get to the worm hole i came from, i accidently hit it with the torch wile trying to enter the wole, he started catching on fire after i died, AND THAD 🍆 head burn all of my stuff
Man I really hate yall call it 'kiting' Kiting implies you're keeping the enemy at a specific distance to prevent them from attacks, at all.. Its not kiting if run back into the enemies range to provoke attacks. That's just called fighting...
Your claim in the beginning; "will make you the best player possible." Is hyperbole. You didn't include every boss strategy, how wilderness resets your map, wildfire off? Why would you mention admin mod on the "beginner" guide? Collecting juicy berries isn't that great due to their fast spoilage rate unless you need rot. NOT FINISHED
How you gonna complain I didn’t show EVERY boss strategy and then also that I showed a slightly advanced mod in the same comment 😭 wildfires need to be learned to dealt with same as hound waves. This is a Beginner Survival Guide meaning Im teaching the basics on how to overcome the core mechanics in the game not how to avoid them. Also not using juicy berries because they spoil fast is just 💀

juicy berries are awesome! The regular isn't even worthwhile due to its low calories. How long are you hoarding them? Even if you are, rot is important and this makes it a lot eaiser.
@@rebeccahicks2392 I know but hoarding them isn't a great thing unless you specifically need rot for farming stuff, or want a quick solution to hunger. This is just my opinion fyi; not objective fact. Juicy berries ARE great, especially for easy filler, but imo, not worth hoarding (yes Ik I'm repeating myself)

I mined ice for food cus my armor broke and I have no more grass and I made a satellite base I have mini bases all over the map and one main base
summer is by far, the worst season in the game, specially for beginners.
It is pretty hard when you don’t know anything but even with just 2 thermal stones and an icebox summer is incredibly easy

Deerclops attack is directional, you can dodge it by moving slighly away and around deerclops. You can get another hit that way

I try it but while open map (M press) it's pause game i can't move
I do it by using the mouse to move, if you click on the spot you want to go then check the map before you get to it you can walk and check the map at the same time
@@tojiramui check the settings, there's something like "autopause when map is open" that you have to turn off if you want to do that
or play on multiplayer because there is no autopause in real time xD
