Great video and perfect timing too, got my buddies son’s head in the machine shop and brought up a good point checking those clearances. They are at the valve seating phase (24 valves) so anticipating what more checks I’d have to make b4 laying cams back in. Thank you for sharing as always 😊
Glad this helped
I do a 3.8l on the palisade 2 week ago and it the same way it pain to do keep going nice work
Thank you so much! I was not expecting a video❤
Nice, can't wait to see the rest.
At first thanks for video. How can I find rapper guide for Hyundai sonata 2.4l ?
Thank you .
Hi my brother accidentally drop those valve cover those like small caps i see that there are like codes inside of it but im not sure the right area to place them back im afraid i put them back into not original place do u have guide how to out them on right original place those camshaft cover like small bucket
Without marking the buckets to where they go originally you will need to check clearance with a feeler gauge and look up what the spec is. I'm not sure if shop manual will have a chart for the number for the buckets but you are going to have to do some simple math of subtracting and adding to compensate for clearance.
wondering how much out of specs before it becomes a concern. My Exhaust clearance specs calls for 0.3mm to 0.4mm, but I measured several valve buckets at 0.46MM. Will this make ticking noise?
I have a 2013 forte with 180k, runs perfect, engine is noisey, but always has been. How critical is this? Can it cause damage? You think i can do this with the engine in the car?
Is it a 2.4L or a 2.0L the 2.4L always sounds more noisy especially when it's got higher mileage. My buddy kia optima that has the 2.4L is also pretty noisy almost like a rod knock but its still going. The 2.4L will have the buckets style and the 2.0L has hydraulic lifters
Hi if any of these are out of spec does it affect engine compression and or power?
If it is hanging up a valve and preventing it to seal sure but if it's too tight your valves don't contact the seat completely can also burn up a valve as they need to dissipate the heat through contact of the cylinder head. And you get your loss of compression that way from a valve not sealing and have a misfire.
@@theoffroadingmechanic Awesome thank you for your response.
How were you turning the camshafts? You didn’t show that on camera, we’re you using cam sprocket bolts?
Thanks
Yea used a socket on the cam sprocket bolt.
