    Keep em coming mate. Love the new content. I was looking for a good vid on clearances for 5e and this applies to a lot more with bucket and shim set ups. Love the bit of music😍

    Nice, now I just need to take the time and see which shims on my head were rearranged by the machine shop.

    Im just now seeing your video and am reworking/refurbishing my 5sfe Toyota head because it was shot im not doing what your doing and your engine from what i see and am watching looks like it has to be quick.
    😊 Im just doing what i need to bring my engine back to stock when it was new and i wanted a video to just see the valve lash adjustment and yours popped up and you did a good job of showing and explaining the process.
    But man oh man trying to find shims today in 2024 in usa sucks so many people just want to scam and sock it to you 😮. And too i think Toyota is proprietary like mercedes they just dont want you to go aftermarket for parts on some things.😅
    Anyways have a great day
    Maybe ill catch another video of yours showing that car in action
    Art😊

    What website did you buy these shims from? I have a Nissan that has a bucket setup and you can't get shims anymore. I used a 25c coin under the intake buckets and a 5c coin under the exhaust. works mint but idk how long it will last lmao

    Thanks for the detail! I've recently picked up an LS400 (Celsior) that apparently has the same style shim over bucket lifters & its got some noticeable valve noise! Not looking forward to doing this on two heads on an angle 😕

    How would you go about setting the valve clearance if you're only given the "hot" specs. Speedvision cams only give you .010 INT and .012 EXH hot specs and not cold specs.

    • @MattBerrymotorsport
      @MattBerrymotorsport  2 роки тому +1

      Id just use those specs anyway. In one of my old engines i had to start it to move it and one of the clearances was .026 and it was fine lol

      @@MattBerrymotorsport it wouldn't cause the valvetrain to be noisy or be losing out on power?

      @@MattBerrymotorsport alright so measured them hot vs cold and they were mostly .002 looser when hot than when cold. Just thought I'd share.

    So it's safe to say that adjusting shims always involves taking the cams out?

    • @MattBerrymotorsport
      @MattBerrymotorsport  2 роки тому +3

      No, the Toyota dealership has a special tool that allowes you to change the shims one at a time without removing the cams. They wouldn't give it to me or sell me one 😂

    When you do a new engine build , do you skim the block and the head or just the block ?

    • @MattBerrymotorsport
      @MattBerrymotorsport  3 роки тому +1

      If using a MLS head gasket I always get the head AND block skimmed, just enough so that the gasket sealing surface is flat.
