Swedish cover version of Gilbert O'Sullivan's monster hit "Matrimony", originally released on his debut album "Himself" in 1971, and then as a single in 1972. Written by Gilbert O'Sullivan and Swedish lyrics by Hawkey Franzén.
Funnily enough, "Matrimony" was a huge hit in Europe but neither in the UK nor the US. Gimmick's version spent 3 weeks in October/November 1972 on Svensktoppen, the Swedish radio chart, peaking at number 8.
Swedish band Gimmicks had several line ups and started out as a Swedish interpreter of samba and latin music, soon becoming an internationally acclaimed act always attracting talented and professional musicians. 1974-1976 the focus changed slightly and instead the group concentrated on the Swedish pop/schlager market.
