I think the new bike looks brilliant. I know the old model has lots of fans, but honestly, I've never liked the looks of the old machine. Pricing on the new bike is going to be all important. My guess is Enfield are trying to move slightly up the market, hope they don’t alienate existing cost conscious riders. Think Itchy Boots said the production bike would have spoked tubeless tyres, a good move in my opinion.
They will be ticking many boxes with switchable and Tubeless....your quite right though , I really hope they don't loose the RE value for money appeal. That is REs strongest asset. I trust them to get it right...they have for the last 5 years.
I was tempted to buy the 411, but now release is imminent (🤔), I think will hold out to hopefully get a test ride, when you lot have reviewed the press bikes lol 😀. My thoughts, to get anywhere exciting, you have to go on fast roads and the 411 seemed a tad underpowered, but this baby!!!! I think Itchy boots clocked 140kmh, that will do me thank you very much. Am in Wales and the joy of 20mph limits on many roads. Thank you for a great pre review, review 👏👏👏

Looks like a cracking bike, and I'm really tempted to have this as a replacement for my G310GS as although I really like the look and sound of the F900, the price is the issue.
AS a fan and owner of the 411 Himalayan I was intially attracted to the 411 due to it's simplicity ,adaptability and lack of electronics, but bikes now have this technology and to keep pace (or possibly be at the forefront) RE has struck a good balance with the new bike. Pricing will be important and with keen pricing the bike could well be the main bike that people buy in it's segment beating the KTM, BMW and even Honda. I am cetainly interested in taking a close look at the NEC and getting a test ride when they become available. Bigger and heavier bikes are now out for me but I still want to go further afield and explore and use faster A roads to get there. I'm interested in your review of the 411 as well as the 450.
I think it is alot fancier than the old Himalayan. People liked the old Himalayan because it was a simple, basic but capable workhorse that made you feel secure. You could ride it through anything without worrying about it. People who love that😊 will probably think that the new one is too expensive and a bit posh. However, those who thought the 411 was a bit too basic, will probably love this.
Yes and old one anyone can work on ands repair! New one more will take to be serviced ect? But a lot will depend on it’s price? New Triumph 400x scrambler is only £5500 so needs to be around that??
Hope they keep pricing sensible. I have read that the configuration of the new engine in the frame alters the balance of the bike. Dont like water cooling if off roading. Don’t want rider modes with that hp. I think this will be dealer plug in jobs. Really hope RE don’t do what value brands do which is cost same as jap bikes. I think some of the new chinese bikes are making waves at very cheap prices. However the trust isn’t there. I have heard nothing but good about RE dealers. I want twin clocks on every bike😂😂. I maybe looking for a 2nd hand 411 if lots people swap and prices even cheaper. There seem to be a lot of RE in used market. I wonder if that’s hype - buy, change mind or…. Just people moving between models. Nice looking bike hope it delivers on all fronts
When it comes to ADV bikes the less nerdy tech the less to potentially leave you stranded at the roadside at the mercy of cut throat bandits in the arse - end if nowhere . If anyone must have a 452 Himalayan ,my advice would be to get a old new model at a bargain price , & wait around 3 years to give the new engine & unnecessary tech gubbins to prove its reliability first, before laying out bunce on the new model . The existing Himalayan has cult status , the new one is yet to prove itself .
It certainly does look a lot better than the 411, I think the most interesting thing will be the pricing considering all the new specs and tech. Well presented video mate, fingers crossed they do their best to keep the price as low as possible.

about time we had a modern looking bike from them. got to get younger generation on board. it looks great in black and gold wheels. don't like the other colours.
Agree with your assessment. Very tempting if at the right price but there's a raft of new small ADV coming out. I was particularly interested in the CFMoto 450MT looks good and 20 Kg lighter. Mind you I've just bought a Voge 300 Rally and having a lot of fun on that. Regarding tubeless wheels all the photos I've seen so far the gold rims are the only tubed wheels fitted all the others have external spokes on the rims. Regar
Good point about the tubeless yes! CF moto since going to KTM have some ground to make up for me. They have proved to be a unstable brand for me with there big warranty's and then not fulfilling them due to the switch over. That VOGE 300 is a brill bike. I really like it, and for the money its a no brainer. Good choice mate. Thanks
The 450mt is 190 kg wet, so about 8kg lighter than the Enfield. Could probably remove the centre stand and swap the battery to a lithium and they’d be about the same
@@slakk5093 Thanks for that. Keep forgetting that some manufacturer's are a bit economical with the truth sometimes. The Voge Rally was quoted at 158Kg but I've now noticed a lot of dealers advertising at 152Kg unladen sounds lighter.
I too was impressed with the new Himalayan but then I watched peak motorcycles video at ECMIA on the CFmoto 450MT and now am swaying towards that. Lighter, more power, good looking, quality parts, extras as standard and a 4 year warranty. Just a shame there isn't any dealer's near me but am off to motorcycle live so hopefully they will be both there.
And you said it right there....Dealership network is key. I know of people with Cfmotos and since they changed to KTM they have had trouble getting any after sales work done...RE are pretty solid like that.
This could be a big seller, IIt answers the criticisms of the 411. I can't say that I'm an admirer of the 'dinnerplate' dash though.... Hopefully the crash/engine bars will be uprated, as you say the 411 ones were weak, (allegedly) I knew a chap down your way that used to test them in real-time conditions..... 😉
Transalp is awesome mate but when you think you have to add a top spec Meteor on top of what this bike will cost it all leans back to the RE again for me.
I would be curiuos of what current Himalayan owners think once they get a good look at the new model. Most often new and improved is better but sometimes it isn't.
Just watched an interesting interview with the engine designer on UA-cam posted by big bear customs. They've raised the compression ratio to 11:1 does this not affect the grade of fuel you can use? The old motor was 9:1 so could run on any old crap fuel. Also the air filter is now under the fuel tank near the headstock to improve wading depth. Does anyone know if this means tank off to service or is there an access panel on front of tank?
I've had to delay buying a bike as we are selling our house and downsizing to the father in-laws. I'm glad now as my first choice if I could find a lowered one is a V-Strom. I think of this as a mini V-Strom!! One thing I wonder is that is the lowered seat an option at the time you order the bike. Or do you have to pay for a lowered seat after buying the bike as an accessory?
The 411 was going for around $5400 US . I imagine the 450 would be around $1000 more at least. so low 5000s in the UK should be about right. IF they get up to $7000 here , I would have to think long and hard.
Just commented ER and not showing. This is happening a lot to me at present🤬. Cba type all again. Good points to ponder. I have mixed feelings on how this will do. I hope they don’t overprice it. £5500-£6k buys a damn nice used bike
looks like the states wont get it for another 6 to 8 months. wondering if they will continue to make the old one till then new one comes out? i will ask you the same thing i asked my uncle Stu, if its for off road use to climb the Himalayans, why put on street tires? and the other one is, if it is for offroad use, then why show hard bags and top box? really doesn't make sense to me, but i am a foolish man.
Yeap I know what you mean there.. I think the idea is RE know most of the people who ride these bikes will be on the road or gravel which is the reality, but they give you the option of changing the tyres to knobbleys and you have a full off-roader....thats my take on it. Your not foolish, you're a top bloke
I've got mixed feelings about that. To be honest I'm really into single retro scramblery/offroady bikes. That would be great to have something like new Honda XL500R. The old Himalayan was defo too slow for modern day traffic and a bit too heavy for offroad use and no comparison to the old XL, the new one seems to be better but ... I don't know. It doesn't look good IMO plus it's still heavy. On the other other bikes from this segment looks like colourful spaceships rather than motorcycles.
All relevant points you make there...Yes its still lumpy but built to a price I guess, But overall I think it has a lot to offer.. I also like the old XL500 look too : )
Does the 450 Himalayan still require a service every 6 months or 2,500 miles like , I understand, the rest of the Royal Enfields do? If so, I believe these services are not cheap and to have to service an adventure bike in such a short mileage appears to seriously impact its usefulness if it’s marketed as an adventure bike.
Price and how it rides for me the key points. Otherwise its a bit meh for me. (Maybe will change my mind) Yes faster but only a slight bump in tank size(will see mpg) and it looks smaller. Plus dont like the looks at all. In a sense makes it better as am not thinking sell my Himmy or trade in. £6000 ish my guess.
6 k you could be right. Tank size isn't bad I don't think considering the high MPG you will get from it....any bigger then it could start to look out of shape maybe. Most 411 riders seem to say its not enough for them to chop in their bikes.
Ha ha, Still practicing 😂 haven’t had a bike for over 12 months but would like a bike again - not fussed about performance- so Himalayan 450 is a strong possibility- but also impressed with super scooters

Credit where it is due Adam passing your off road testing would be a high rating. Triumph is thinking of having me do some Rocket 3 testing. 😆
Looking forward to the review
Thanks Ice, I hope I get one ASAP
about time we had a modern looking bike from them. got to get younger generation on board. it looks great in black and gold wheels. don't like the other colours.
Yes you have a point. Black/gold is my oref too but I quite like all the colours tbh.
Thanks again 🙏👍
Enfield simply offering great bikes at affordable costs!
Absolutely
Exciting times ER, wonder if they have many 411's left to shift?🙂
I hope they don't get rid of the 411....I dont think they will because the Scram is still using the same engine . 411 to the 450 seem worlds apart
I do like the look of it
Me too, It was good to be on a live with you tonight. Thanks very much
@@exeterrider yea enjoyed it mate thanks
I'm thinking the "Rally" version will come with a bench seat and tubeless rims/tyres 👍
I think the really optional seat is the same thing but yes maybe they will make a seperate model👍
Yes the dash is odd but kinda works as well. I always like to give bikes a proper test Ken 😂
@@exeterridercan you test somebody else’s next time? 🤣
Gold reply@@Saddlebags73 ! 🤣🤣🤣
I can't compete with that 😢🤣
Yeah I’m like you mate I’m not a big fan of the old himi but this one could tempt me! Trouble is the Transalp is really growing on me as well!🙄🤷🏼♂️
Transalp is awesome mate but when you think you have to add a top spec Meteor on top of what this bike will cost it all leans back to the RE again for me.
@@exeterrider oh I get that totally, I was ignoring the money side of things and shopping without a care in the world!😂👍🏻
Cuts me deep 😢😂
@@markhutchings8281 yes I was looking at swimming pools earlier.
@@Saddlebags73 your euro4 rode better than the 5....maybe it's the can freeing it up?!
it comes with a hugger as standard? You don't have to pay extra for it? Other manufacturers should take note...
So true! And that front wheel is also well protected.
I would be curiuos of what current Himalayan owners think once they get a good look at the new model. Most often new and improved is better but sometimes it isn't.
Very true. Most current owners I know are hesitant, but not ruling it out,
Itchy Boots said today the new 450 is tubeless, although the one she is riding has tubes as it's a pre-production model.
Yeap alot of confusion around this 👍
Just watched an interesting interview with the engine designer on UA-cam posted by big bear customs.
Good question....if you drop it in the drink the air filter is the first thing to pull out.
How tall are you ?
I think the seat is on a cam , or so I read somewhere. its good they have given us the option. Thanks
The standard seat adjusts on a cam from 825-845mm. There is a low seat option that goes from 805-825mm from what I've seen.
@@Mike-jv4rz 5'7" but don't know my inside leg. Probably 29" at most.
@@exeterrider I've seen that on, I think, Big Bear Customs videos.
The 411 was going for around $5400 US . I imagine the 450 would be around $1000 more at least. so low 5000s in the UK should be about right. IF they get up to $7000 here , I would have to think long and hard.
I hope they get it right! They haven't let us down yet!
Just commented ER and not showing. This is happening a lot to me at present🤬. Cba type all again. Good points to ponder. I have mixed feelings on how this will do. I hope they don’t overprice it. £5500-£6k buys a damn nice used bike
That's so annoying! I feel your pain... I hope we find out the price soon!
looks like the states wont get it for another 6 to 8 months. wondering if they will continue to make the old one till then new one comes out? i will ask you the same thing i asked my uncle Stu, if its for off road use to climb the Himalayans, why put on street tires? and the other one is, if it is for offroad use, then why show hard bags and top box? really doesn't make sense to me, but i am a foolish man.
It's for taking it off the beaten path and you can load it up for a camp out...
I also like the old XL500 look too : )
160 kmph ish top speed and cruise easy at 120ish...... Not good enough?...
Noone knows yet, but I guess they may drag it the intervals to catch up with the competion
They're are plenty of RE videos on yt. 7000m servicing.
Price and how it rides for me the key points. Otherwise its a bit meh for me. (Maybe will change my mind)
Yes faster but only a slight bump in tank size(will see mpg) and it looks smaller.
@@exeterrider Yeah think thats the gen consensus thus far but got to give it a chance.
I don't believe it is in the US yet, as of 11/2023?
Not yet, it's not here yet either. The 10th is the big day here I believe 👍
£6000, so it will be more expensive than the Triumph Scrambler 400.😂
Well, as it is not a scrambler, I don’t think that is a fair comparison to make.
Agreed, the scrambler really is nice but just for the road....this one is good off road too ....switchable ABS is brill : )
I like the Honda scam better , but then i'm not gonna offroad it much, i've got a crf for that.
CRFs are awesome for such riding : )
How can I resist 😜
Hello mate, good to hear from you. Hope all is well, good to see your still knocking out some amazing quality vids👍
Ha ha, Still practicing 😂 haven’t had a bike for over 12 months but would like a bike again - not fussed about performance- so Himalayan 450 is a strong possibility- but also impressed with super scooters
I thought you pride yourself on honest and impartial reviews. From the thumbnail and what you have been saying, you have made your mind up about how good it is going to be before you have even seen it, let alone ridden it. Please dont go down the usual UA-camr route of over hyping everything just to get views. I value your channel for its straight talking, no nonsense reviews. Keep up the good work.
Thanks but the spec sheet, switchable Abs, nice size engine, 6 speed box, good looks is a total winner for me.
I'm not doing this just for views, I really am pretty excited about this and the proof is in the pudding but this video was to show my positive anticipation for it.
I really do think this will be good and this is my way of expressing that.
I haven't tried it yet but it's still worthy of a video I feel personally 👍
@@exeterriderplus of course itchy is already riding this bike and her opinion does matter.
Of course shes ridden it, but I can still make a video with my initial views and anticipations
@exeterrider Of course you should make a video on it, and I look forward to it. I understand your excitement, but you can't form an opinion until you have seen and ridden it. I am not trying to be antagonistic, I just don't want to see a good channel going down the same route of hyperbole and sensationalism purely for the sake of it. I have always looked upon you and your channel as offering a balanced unbiased opinion and I would like it to stay that way. No offence was meant! Cheers, Phil
@@SheldonElectricals no worries mate, I'm really not coming from there. I'm easily excited and don't take life too seriously.
Switchable Abs does float my boat as does many of the other things, from where I'm sat I presume I don't need to mention that I will know what it's like when I rode it, I always take that as a given.
I enjoy making these types of video tbh because it's like chatting to a mate in the pub with my opinion... I'm very fluid with it all tbh.
Thanks Phil and it's all cool mate, I just like making vids but yes this one is flying I must admit 👍😊
Wow, I didn't realise you were on hugging terms with Itchy Boots 😅
This is Royal Enfield's first liquid cooled engine ever. Fingers crossed.
I haven't washed since Noob. Yeah they will pull it off...They always do.
Wow, it's ugly. They have managed to lose all the old one's charm.
Agreed! Keeping my 2023 Himmy, more than happy for a few years.
Fair enough Steve👍
