    Hi, Thanks for watching the video. Drop it a "like" if you would be so kind.
    My microphone was set wrong on this in the Walkround etc but it's still OK.
    Thanks for watching as ever. Hope you have a good week and I'll see you again on Sunday 5pm.

    I love mine. I live in the country. Commute to work on a farm and spend my free time exploring with my throw over panniers, fishing rod and camping gear. I think I hit the correct demographic.
    I drop it from time to time. I cover it in mud and dust. Wash and oil it once a week.
    I can work on almost anything myself. (Did the tappets last week).
    Love it.

    I have a 411 here in Florida and i love it. Ive done the cam upgrade with a 16t sprocket and its a whole different machine. Also added a Puig windscreen. No it's sill not an interstate highway "mile muncher" but will handle interstates quite well. I can easily cruise 65 -70 mph all day and not stress the engine. I love the ulitarian look. The new 450s seem to be aimed at off road whereas the 411 can tour amazingly well. Plus the 450's windscreen is tiny...again off road. Get a 411 while you still can!!!

    I bought one of these brand new back in October 2023 as my winter hack. I have to tell you that I`m not in anyway disappointed ! when your consider that I paid £4300 for a brand new bike with 3 years unlimited mileage warranty and roadside assistance I think I bought an absolute bargain! There have been some very negative reviews on this bike (some of them almost put me off buying it) Your review I think reflects very fairly on this bike`s capabilities. So thank you!

    Great video! I bought one of these in Costa Rica. No issues with the bike since I originally bought it in 2019 with 5k km of usage. Real great motorbike to have in a country like the one I am in. Parts arrive to my local mechanic in 3 to 7 day span. I added a machete holster and overall I would recommend to get one for its utility with the condition in which spare parts are available, especially in third world countries.

    Why would anyone want to tour on a motorway? I can understand people mistakenly thinking a motorway is faster (it often isn’t) but the entire essence of touring is to experience the countryside and scenery, and you ain’t going to do that at 70 mph…. Having said all that, my first Royal Enfield was a ‘19 Himalayan,, and I wish I’d kept it as a second winter bike, because as a winter bike it can’t be beaten.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  11 місяців тому +1

      Agreed as a winter bike it has a lot to offer. I think sometimes to have an adventure then perhaps many would like to get to it by the motorway or alike. Its OK doing that but if doing it often on a daily commute or whatever then I think I'd go with something else...The 411 has its place : )

    I've never ridden one but ive been out laneing alongside a few Himmis now, and i have to say that they're pretty impressive at what they'll do and where they'll go. Hard to find anything else as good for the money i should think. There's good reason for the small rear brake pedal and gearlever (the ones on my bike are even smaller). If you drop it (as you do) 🙃, they are tucked in enough that they don't bend, also they don't catch on deep ruts. Its quite well thought out, the footrests are back near the swingarm pivot, where they should be so that you maximise your weight transfer to the rear wheel when you stand etc. Shame they've dropped it from the range i think there's room for both models....... Another good review anyway mate! 👌

      Only an idiot would drop a light bike like this.....ere ,I thought I was going to get ribbed for the "canal incident" so I purposely put a clip in this of your "dabbs" , and then you didn't say anything -well not directly😂
      Yes, for the money you get quite a capable machine that has good reliability and will take you anywhere.

    Love my 2023 one. It's not my only bike and you ride it for what it is. Where I live in rural Lincolnshire the roads are pot holed and covered in crap most of the year. This little Himmy fits the bill nicely.

    Good review.
    I went from Eastbourne to Manchester on my 411 Himalayan and then my BMW R1150rt; both clear days. It took me 20 mins longer on the Himmy. Main reason for the 20 min difference is the amount of speed cameras all along the M25, M6. et al-- which reduced speeds to 50 & 60mph (ridiculous) and its here to stay. The only motorway I made up time was the M40- You cannot 'cane' it on MWays anymore, and the Himmy filters better, and cost much less in fuel, but on the RT I didn't have to plan my overtakes.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  13 днів тому

      Yes , I just don't get that 50-60 when theres nothing going on.
      You make a good point the, Himy is a very good motorbike for filtering.
      I'd still prefer the RT mind ha!. Thanks for watching.

    Interesting information!
    The Himalayan was revealed in February 2015. ( I believe this bike saved R.E. with the classic 350 reborn in late 2021.)
    Himalayan was launched in early 2016.
    Retired in 2023 when the Himalayan 452cc came to fruition.( 2024) not in the US as of 7/13/2024.
    2022 Himalayan owner myself with 9000 miles in 17 months.
    Just performed my 5th oil, filters, plug, tappets maintenance
    I run completely stock without all the whistles and bells. I ride in Vegas daily around Red Rock canyon area and 99% of my riding is black top. Hot as hell here almost 40 celsius and the Himalayan stands the test of time.
    All the crap that is written or read about the Himalayan is unfortunate.
    452cc did not do as well as the front office hoped it would.
    Itchy will be back in October I believe.
    Enfield is for some but certainly not for everyone.

    My Enfield dealer has these as the courtesy bike and at the last service on my Interceptor 650 I had the Himalayan on loan. I couldn’t gel with it at all in the short time I had it, but maybe needed to ride it more. My biggest concern with them and the reason I’m looking at changing my Interceptor is the tubed tyres. I’ve been riding 40-years and only ever had three punctures, two of them on the interceptor! You get three years roadside recovery with a new bike but they are never equipped to change a tube so it’s always a truck home. At least with tubeless they can usually fix at the roadside. Warranty has just run out so I’m thinking of a change, or a recovery service addon for the insurance :)

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  11 місяців тому +1

      Tubed tyres are a real pain and makes you feel you're on the edge all the time... certainly when off-roading! I had this point in the walkround but edited it out by accident.

First puncture was the front tyre, second in the rear on the Hastings May Day run last year. Shame as the ride down was almost perfect, parked up and had a look around then came back to the bike with a flat rear tyre, spent 4 hours waiting for the truck to recover me. Everytime I go out it’s on my mind so time for a change

      Can I just pop in on this convo and ask why you have problems with tubed tyres? I must admit that I've had no experience with tubeless. Due to the fact that I spend a lot of times in the lanes, I've had many, many punctures over the years but it rarely takes me more than 20 mins for a roadside repair on tube type?

      @alanharris2799 11 місяців тому

      @@kenbrooks7794 I am not really set up or equipped to repair the bike at the roadside, fair play to those that do but it’s not me. I have fed back to RE roadside assistance that they really should have their agents carry replacement tubes or the ability to repair as it would be far easier that transport. Indeed, the team that recovered me from Hastings had just come from another puncture that they repaired at the roadside as it was a tubeless tyre so they could plug the hole and get the rider back on the road in thirty minutes. Instead, for me, they had a 1.5 drive to drop my bike back to my home.

    I was tempted when they first came out then I decided to wait while they sorted out the frame breaking issues, then for a couple years I didn’t like the colors, then after Itchy Boots ggot one and I didn’t want hear all the Itchy Boots talk every where I went. Finally the bikes were sorted, some decent colors, and Itchy Boots changed bikes by then I got to old to ride one where I wanted to use it.

      To my knowledge the frame breaking issue was from one video on UA-cam which went viral, but I never heard it happening again after that video, so I wonder if people thought it was the norm even though it happened once on that video!?
      For me , I do like off-road riding due to the challenge but infact finding time to go new places is quite difficult, and I think it may become the "same old" after a while , I have good lanes near me but there is only so many times you can do the same lanes.

    Hi there Steve !
    Great job as usual. You know how I feel about them. Definitely a grower and I think you only truly appreciate them when you have owned one for a while.
    It's the sort of bike, if it's paid for, you'd be mad to sell, as long as you had the space to keep it.
    There will always be a situation where you don't want to take out your precious, expensive new toy and then you'll think "Ah, sod it ! I'll take the Himalayan !".
    I'm thinking that Norman will be my off-road workhorse for the next ten years at least, by which time I will be at an age where I probably won't be allowed out on a bike anymore anyway. Or am I there already ? 🤔 😂
    So I am now at a point where I have two keeper bikes and the only option I see for the future is to expand to three bikes 😝
    I just couldn't bring myself to sell Buddy the Meteor nor Norman the Himalayan.
    Good point about the foot pegs by the way ! That is the one thing that I just can't get used to. I am having to twist my right leg inwards to be able to operate the rear brake with any degree of accuracy. The issue becomes even worse when you try to ride standing up. For me it is really difficult to use the rear brake and the gear lever when standing up because the foot peg is so narrow and the ends of both levers don't come out very far. Much like the shift lever on the Classic 350, this setup seems to be incompatible with chunky boots. My guess is that RE kept the levers tucked in, to make them less vulnerable to damage in a drop. But the standard pegs and levers are far from ergonomic if you ride in clumpy hard ADV or MX boots !
    A nice video Steve and sums up the bike really well.
    Take care buddy and speak soon !

      If you ever got rid of Buddy then I may have to un-sub. He is the channel really.
      I respect the Himalayan a lot. Such a massive seller to folk that would normally buy much faster bikes.
      Its good you have 2 keepers, A 3rd bike isn't a bad idea, the more the merrier I say.
      I think I'll have to sell the Beemer this year, the NC is a keeper for me due to reliability, rideability and a good do it all bike.
      Meaty is still in my mind but will have the 450 soon Im hoping to play on.
      Cheers mate ....El outro

    • @economicalrides
      @economicalrides 11 місяців тому

      @@exeterrider Yes mate, I think the Beemer was an itch that you've probably now scratched and if you sell it before it breaks, you won't stand to lose too much money. Frees up space and money for another bike which does things that the NC doesn't. As you'll see in tomorrow's video, I am in the process of selling my big Mercedes and I am not really that enthusiastic about it. I COULD keep it ( like you could keep the Beemer ) but it isn't getting enough use and the longer I have it, the more chance there is of a big bill finally catching up with me. I feel like, if I sell it now, I've quit while I was ahead. If I hang onto it, sure I have it and can use it occasionally, but it could also bite me in the backside. Besides, I have a normal car for everyday use, so there really is no need for me to have it.
      So I see parallels between my Mercedes and your Beemer !
      Let's just blame the Germans then ! 😂
      I look forward to your test of the 450. I remain sceptical because I think that by the time you've brought it up to proper off-road spec, it is no longer a cheap bike and I don't see that it will do anything significantly better than the old 411. Time will tell.
      Cheers Steve. Love to the Exmouth posse.
      Oh yes, I might have "accidentally" put Fetish Dave's compromising photo in tomorrow's video. I'd take it out but it's uploaded now and it would be too much of a faff. Well, that's what I'm telling "Dave" anyway. Fortunately, it only flashed up on the screen very briefly 🤗😇

    Adventure bikes are not my thing but I've always thought the Himalayan looked ok when ive seen them out and about, maybe that's my itchy boots fan boy kicking in 🙂 The lack of speed worries me more than the lack of power, i had a cbr300 with not much more power than the Himalayan but it more than held its own in traffic and on motorways in a way the Himalayan just can't. SAS autotrim will rebuild your seat with more foam to increase the height. I'm 6'1 and found the standard seat too low and it pushed me forward into the petrol tank. Saddlebags 73 did a video about modifications he'd done to his Himalayan and the seat was one of them. I contacted Steve from SAS and he invited me over and rebuilt my seat whilst I was there. Seems to me some Utubers are playing to an audience than reality. There will always be "better bikes", but for what? Friends have toured all over Europe on 125cc Hondas, I do not accept anyone quoting an opinion that this bike is underpowered for A road dual carriageways, let alone motorways. As someone who has been riding a 20hp bike 30 years (and others), it seems small bikes are dismissed as routine.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  11 місяців тому

      Not at all, some small bikes do a great job, the SH125 for example is great for that work. My point is on the motorway etc it does feel a little rattly and infact I have ridden 125s that have felt more comfortable doing motorway speeds. The majority of people wouldn't enjoy riding the Himy on the motorway from my experience and I'm one of them.. I can only speak as I find.
      You can tour on any bike but they all have the own genres of where they are best...I wouldn't rule out riding on a motorway with a Himy but I prefer to be on a bike where the engine is more relaxed doing it myself. Thanks for watching and you're thoughts : )
