- I'm playing The Sims 2 Tutorial for the first time in my life! I've been playing Sims 2 for 15 years and I have never once played with Tutorial Joe and Jane - the tutorial family. I thought I had nothing left to learn about this game, but I was wrong!
The tutorials in Sims 2 cover the basics of new gameplay, relationships, and even build mode (well, at least the basics of how to build a square house). I thought it would be so basic, it would be worthless to me. But, I somehow managed to learn a few new things and I was reminded of some features I forgot about too!
It's never a bad idea to revisit the tutorials from old games from time to time - especially more complicated games like The Sims!

Finally someone else who says live mode the way I do! I thought I was going insane when I heard other people saying it. I always thought of it as "going live" - like live TV.

I also say "live mode" (the way Cindy/Pleasant Sims says it) idk the way some Sim players say it sounds odd to me
I can see an argument for both but it's definitely live as in 'living' to me, because you are 'living' the sims lives.
I mean they both mean the same, we say 'going live' because metaphorically the thing that has gone live is 'living' now. That's also the pronunciation we use for the root word of them both 'alive'
It’s pretty sad that 21 years into the franchise and 7 years into Sims 4 EA is asking what we mean by in depth gameplay 🤦🏻♀️
I hope someone told them "go play Sims 2."
Another depth thing I love is that when you throw a bday party for a sim’s kid, family sims will usually roll a want to have another baby. It’s almost like they are waiting for their first kid to age up, or like empty nest type of feeling seeing their kid grow up makes them want to have more kids. It’s just so cute and makes both the family sim and their kids and just the family aspect feel so real and like the bonds rlly matter in the game.
I remember forcing romance sims to settle down & automatically seeing their wants go towards things like divorce, death of certain sims, etc & loved the realism.
also if your family sim is really broke they can have both a want and a fear to have a baby. It happened to my Brandi Broke

The lighting in TS2 is sooooo good, i remember putting like ten windows on a single wall in TS3, and the room still felt too dark
Omg I remember playing the first tutorial of the game (where Joe is alone) multiple times as a kid and I loved pushing the limits. I never finished the tutorials last step and I just went ahead and made him hire and marry a maid, just cause I could 😂

I always said it as "liv" mode. Since "build" and "buy" are both verbs I always just assumed "live" was a verb too

I literally have the salsa songs stuck in my head 24/7 after listening to it for years. I had these tunes engraved in my mind before I knew what salsa was. I forgot I could change the station so to me all sims just enjoy salsa music.

I wanted to add more Pleasantview Sims, so I ended up making the Tutorial family as Joey Simms and Jane Jones. They recently went on a trip to Twikki Island and Jane had the worst time: she got sunburnt, struck by lightning, and peed herself. On the last day, Joey proposed on the beach to a very sunburnt Jane. I think she was just happy the trip was over.

ngl i really miss your videos but let me tell you something. i know what you went through and i know that you’re not quite gotten over it yet. your health (and most importantly your mental health) is really important so you must take good care of yourself even if it means doing one vídeo a year. we want de best for you.

Fun fact. In The Sims 3, click Settings/Lessons, but don't choose any particular lesson. You'll see a Sim in an orange sweater that should be familiar to you by now.
Another fun fact. Russian version of TS2, known for some quite ridiculous names, calls Tutorial Joe Sim "Vladimir Obuchalko", which is basically "Vlad McTutorialFace".

I found most of the building tricks like ctrl-click by accident when playing, fun fact: you can ctrl+shift+click to delete a whole room of floor tiles and wallpaper too.

I think you're right, it's LIIIIIVE mode!
I grew up playing the German version, and even there it's always "Live Modus".
Notably, whenever the word "live" is used in German it's always the non-translated term for when something is being broadcasted in real time. If it was supposed to mean "to live" the button name would be translated as "Leben-Modus".
Orrr it can be poor translation or translation without looking at the context of the creators... Either way liiiiive mode makes more sense xD
@@PizzaFreaak As a German player I can say it was however always "Live Modus" since the first game up til the most recent one.
I can also confirm that the Sims games actually have a pretty good translation (expect for maybe having them change basically every Sims 1 Sim's name for literally no reason. Why changing names like Bella Goth into Julia von Spinnweb?! Bella wouldn't even be a super outlandish name over here :'D).
So yeah, I somehow can't really see them doing a good job on basically everything and than making a mistake with just that one. Especially over several games.

I do use the space bar to cycle between sims.
The basic home shows REAL potential 🤣 I guess for someone at Maxis it does.

I found out something neat a few days ago. If you have stuff that you want to place in inventory, grab it and click the i key.

5:00 yes! In the sims 3 afaik, when you over over for example your sim's job panel, it'll tell you more about their job. I love it haha

I say live mode too and I always will. 😌 Pressing play to me means the game is going live.
I'm almost certain this is the same tutorial, if not very similar, to the one I did a few months back in Sims Pet Stories, but after I re-learned all the controls I stopped paying full attention to the rest of it lol.

What you said is true...they did put more thought in sims 2 tutorial mode than sims 4 lore and gameplay overall combined ...it is sad
Sims 4 does have intuitive and solid buy/build modes(still waiting for auto-roof ) but the rest just falls....completely flat.
On another note, almost all shortcuts on sims 2 are on sims 3 and sims 4, ctrl + right-click to delete , shift + click "," and "." to move the camera around etc it's actually amazing they kept throughout the games.

I have been playing TS2 most of my life, and never used the tutorial. It says a lot how good the gameplay is.

I started playing Sims 2 in 2006/2007 and I was taught by one of my mom's work colleagues. Then my parents got me my own game (I still remember it was Sims Deluxe, Pets and Free Time, because I still have them ahah) and that's when I figured out there was a tutorial. I had so much fun learning more things I wasn't taught by the woman! I remember it so well. I miss those times playing Sims 2 after school.

sims 2 was my intro to the franchise. we were given a computer by a friendly neighbor with the sims 2 bon voyage installed. i remember watch my mum's daycare kids who were my olny friends play the game.
