I always move Morty into Dina's condo and then move Nina out (since that's how the game is setup). But I know a lot of people like to move Dina into the mansion. It's really just a matter of preference! :)
One time I had a blue alien move in on Mortimer and they had triple bolts. She stole Morty away from Dina and had triplets. Best couple ever until he died 😭
Completely agree OP - Dina doesn’t just want a portion of the Goth money; she wants it all AND the house! My Pleasantview usually goes a bit differently because, in my mind, the Prima Guides aren’t the ‘official’ way to play. When I first loaded up the game all I had to go on was the neighbourhood story that pops up, so I played in the order that said - Goth, Caliente, Lothario, Broke, Pleasant, Dreamer. This causes things to go quite differently to the Prima way! Don usually leaves Cassandra at the altar, then at the Calientes Dina proposes to Morty. I ignore the prompt to get married and for Nina to move out because it makes no sense. (With the no20khandout mod it means Mortimer is moving in and then immediately giving his sister-in-law some of his money to move out? Why? And why would he leave his poor broken-hearted daughter all alone in the mansion?) Then Don Woohoos Nina and Dina which is much juicier as Dina is now engaged (and with the mod I have, playables can get pregnant even if not being played so it’s always exciting!) Next Brandi - pretty much the same, then the Pleasants - same, then the Dreamers - Cassandra is now single so Darren usually ends up flirting with her and they fall in love. Then on the second go through I’ll have Mortimer ask Dina to marry him so she moves into the Goth mansion and Nina still has a proper house to live in! 🤷♀️ It just makes sense to me! I have tried variations though- the Prima way, or when Don says yes. I don’t always stick to the same story!
"Because in The Sims 2, Sims actually have emotions." The SHADE! I love it! Are you listening EA? Some of us still play The Sims 2 to this day, 16 years after release, because the stories write themselves and the Sims have emotions and their own wants and fears! The Sims 4 could NEVER!
You see, that's the problem. I'm pretty sure they did have emotions but people complained they were too strong, so they removed them. Or at least I vaguely remember that being the case.
When I first got this game as a kid I played the Goths first, as an innocent bean I just followed the prompts and Don left and my little heart was broken
I had the same but I didn’t save the game and started again until their relationship was 100/100 then Don agreed to be married. It only required a few romantic interactions to change the result. I was young and I couldn’t handle his rejection. Maybe it was better for me in that age.
@@sunnysemi Agree! I never had Don marry Cassandra - or anyone else - and I let her have a decent chap. I quite like having my Sims marry randoms they meet though. I always kept Angela and Dustin, and Lillith and Dirk together mind you :)
We know The Sims 5 isn't going to be like that at all, but if we ever get The Sims: Skylines (so, a Sims-like game made by another company) I really hope it has that cheekiness, fun and drama of The Sims 2
I like to play the alternative way, as then Cassandra can marry Darren. That way Darren gets to be with his love, Cassandra gets with a man that won’t cheat on her and Don can go on being his true romance-self ✨

In my plays I do this: - Goth family: Don leaves Cassandra at the altar, and she'll always have the want to talk to Darren. I lock that. - Caliente: I marry Dina to Mortimer, my clue to leave Alexander in the Goth mansion with Cassandra is the scripted message "two's company, three is a crowd". There are supposed to be 3 people at that moment. - Lothario: the same you did in the video. - Dreamer: I use Darren to invite Cassandra over, and he'll always greet her with a kiss making both fall in love on the spot. In the following round, Cassandra will have the want to marry Darren and I make the wedding at the Goth family so the mansion ends up with Cassandra, Alexander, Dirk and Darren. I don't miss scripted events in that way, and in the other households I do basically what you did in the video too.
When I recently restarted my Pleasantview I ended up with Mary-Sue and Daniel both going into aspiration failure! It was hilarious to see Kaylynn do the "this person is crazy" animation as the two of them fell to the floor.
Based on the spanish sims wiki "it's a long legacy of wealthy businessmen, politicians and scientists" and "it seems that in the Goth family males have a greater preference, since the family is patriarchal (Victor Goth's fortune passed to Gunther and not to Frida, who was the eldest)"
I'm Brazilian and to me, the Brazilian version of the Goth's surname is kinda off, lol. Always break them up cause having "Don Caixão" reminds me pretty much of Zé do Caixão! xD
I have never really noticed before but isn't Dustin friends with Gordon King? Brandi is also pretty close with the Caliente sisters who are the victims of Gordon's burglary. Kinda seems like an inside job now....
DrivingAway1 I always understood that Dustin has got a bad influence in the person of Gordon. Brandi likes the Claiente sisters and would be furious if she knew that her son has a burglar friend.
About the portrait: A sim doesn't have to stand there the entire time to be painted, after the sim who does the painting gets started, you can cancel the other sim's action and let them go about their day, the painter will continue painting even if the other sim is gone.
my pleasantview: - don left cassandra at the altar - mortimer marries dina and she moves in - mary sue caught daniel cheating, kicks him out of the house and quits her job - mary sue and cassandra start a relationship and marry - brandi marries darren - dina dumps don so she can stay with mortimer - daniel moves in with don, they become roomates - don gets pregnant with an alien baby - darren dies by a fire that's all i got for now lol
I have Mary Sue begin a relationship with Kaylynn, have them marry and then kick out Daniel to stick it to him. I also have Lilith steal Angela’s boyfriend out of spite because I just feel that she would.
My play through was similar for the most part! Don left Cassandra and I tried to find Cassandra someone to date cause Darren didn't want her anymore. At some point Mary Sue showed up and I thought why not. Now they're in love.
Mary-Sue's aspiration failure was because you chose the option that got her fired. Losing her job put her in aspiration failure before she noticed Daniel fooling around with the maid. I usually pick the same option, and just have Daniel and Kaylynn cuddle until she's back on her feet and ready to catch them in the act. Also, I couldn't help but notice that when you played the Pleasants, it was Angela who was autonomously mean to Lilith every time. I personally prefer the interpretation that both girls are sweethearts deep down and their rivalry is a result of Daniel and Mary-Sue being crappy parents who play favorites, but you can definitely see why a lot of the fandom considers Angela to actually be the mean one.
I always encounter Angela being mean to Lilith. They have literally the same base personality, but lilith grew up badly and her personality has suffered. Idk if that's why she's so emo or if it's because her family continues treating her badly because she acted out from being snubbed a good childhood? She's treated as the black sheep and Angela gets all prise. Though... Maybe I'm projecting because similar things happened to me and my sister, where she got doted on and I got left behind. Doesn't bode well that I was dressing like Lilith back when the game came out and I guess my family saw that and decided that I was now the "bad kid" and the favorable treatment toward my other siblings just got worse.. woops. I always read the memories and descriptions and look at the family album in order to decide how I interpret where each family is at.
in my pv mary-sue gets fired, so she goes into aspiration failure once. THEN i have daniel and kaylynn woohoo, which brings mary-sue into aspiration failure A SECOND TIME. then i tell daniel to scram, and i usually have them do it in front of lilith and angela, so i see their sad reaction. i also have a story in my mind where mary-sue brings a lawyer against daniel and she keeps the house. yep, i'm here for their chaos... ^^;
Same. She and Cassandra also realise they have more than friendship feelings for each other and they get married, adopt a baby together and live happily ever after
I make kaylynn have a relationship with both Daniel and Mary-Sue then have Mary sue catch Daniel cheating with the try for baby option and then have Daniel catch Mary Sue cheating and they take Kaylynn into the household out of pity because she is pregnant. And after all of them make up i use acr mode to start a polyamorous relationship. With the kids lilith ran away after seeing his dad cheat after she come back they adjust to the situation and slowly build Angela and lilith's relationships and make them bffs and then i fix their romance life i sometimes make lilith gay 👁️👄👁️
Lol I do the same thing, but I added Daniel moving in with his sister, and she and her husband can't handle him always taking up the living room, watching his "soap operas". XD
I actually didn't know that there was such a touching story in these pre-made towns before your first Pleasantview let's play! So thanks Cindy :) Although it was kinda funny to create my own households and continue wondering why pre-made sims are always hanging around without aging up

Just come here from watching spark'd...feeling betrayed now comforted. The judges kept saying their stories needed improving...how can you even make stories in the sims 4?
I always ended up playing the scenarios out of order and with Don leaving Cassandra at the altar, so I had no idea I was missing out on a good part of the scripted events! I do still think it’s a worthy sacrifice to get Cassandra hitched with Darren instead, lol. They’re my OTP of Pleasantview.
I think it started going downhill a tad after he left the series to focus on spore in 2006... Though it didn't get reaaally bad till 4, there is a noticable if gradual decline from mid Sims 2 EPs all the way through the Sims 3's lifespan, and peaking with, in my opinion, Strangerville. The Sims 4 had it's issues loooooong before that of course, but I personally feel that was the point in which the game truly hit rock bottom and has been dragging itself along that bottom ever since. But amongst some notable things is how The Sims 2 eps started to get slightly more sloppy and unfocused. Not enough to be bad, but enough to mess with the game's balancing a tad. Then the Sims 3 got really lazy with animations (esp idles and things like cars and elevators where they straight up didn't bother animating them. But the animation quality is a downgrade elsewhere if you have a keen eye.) and other things that impact immersion... A lot of things were dumbed down like genetics and relationships, and some things were straight up gone with no suitable replacement like the meaningful memory system, fears, and interests. Then 4... There's nothing I can say about 4 that hasn't been said a billion times, and all the positives about the game (and there definitely are some) in it's current state have caveats.
sims 2 feels like a programmer's love child, sims 3 onwards just feel too commercial? idk will wright and the old maxis team left along with the game's soul unfortunately
@Baptiste L. They had *some* animation, but your sims just disappear on their way in, and appear on the above or below floor. So it might as well not be since they failed to animate the most important part of entering and exiting an elevator: entering and exiting the elevator! Compare this to the Sims 2 where they enter, and the doors fully close before they disappear. And if I'm not miataken, if you are following your sim, the camera will go up and down each floor till it reaches the destination like it's following your Sim's journey. Because that game was designed to be immersive, and them just popping out and into existance ain't immersive. In fact, I'm decently sure there are no points in 2 where sims disappear in a visibly jarring way during normal gameplay outside of crossing the lot boundary. In 3 (and 4) Sims just teleport about whenever EA is too lazy to animate shit. They will often phase into rabbit holes without even so much as touching a doorknob. They don't even get in or out of the cars, both them and the car just disappear and reappear on the road. Even if they had to force the car to teleport to enable the freedom of driveway placement, there is zero reason the sims couldn't get in and out, instead of random immersion breaking teleportation. I mean... It's like if they removed the animation for changing clothes in a future title cuz they couldn't be arsed... It's lazy and has a quite negative impact on your ability to immerse yourself in the world and as such make even the slightest connection to your sims.
I usually don't play pre-made Sims but I decided to start after I watched this. A week in, Don has died of food poisoning and every woman in the neighbourhood is on the verge of aspiration failure as a result. I'm so good at this.
In my second Pleasantview, i had all Cassandra, Mortimer, Don and Dina (and Alexander of course) in Goth mansion, and Dina cheated on Morty with Don everyday, and also had 2 kids with him, while Mortimer believed they were his kids. One day, he find out about their romance, while Dina with pregnant with Don with 3rd child, and kicked both out of mansion, they had to live in cheapest apartment :D After Mortimer's death Dina tried to get rich again, left Don in that cheap apartment and stole Alexander;s heart xD He left his wife for her, and now they live together, Dina again pregnant, but with Alexander;s child. Pure soap opera :D

My pleasant view: - Darren and Cassandra are married and have a baby - Brandi Broke is now rich after marrying Malcolm Landgraab IV and now lives in his mansion living the life she deserves - Mortimer and Dina are married and live together in the Goth mansion - Nina and Don have twins together but Don abandoned them now Nina is a single parent raising them on her own - Mary-Sue caught Daniel cheating but are still together, but Mary-Sue is constantly having mental breakdowns - Don is still having relations with Dina behind Mortimer’s back Still going to add more to the story but it’s going well so far 🤣
I never really played them in "order". Honestly until I started watching your videos the only premades I had ever played were the Curious brothers. I love when Don runs from the alter. I usually focus on the Broke family, give Brandi a romance secondary aspiration and let the drama happen.
In my favourite gameplay, Cassandra caught Don cheating with Nina and left him. She leaned on Darren Dreamer for support, and when she was fine again, she fell for him. They married and had twins, and also Lilith Pleasant moved in with them after a falling out with both her mom and dad. Mortimer also didn´t marry Nina but single mom Brandi Broke, who had a daughter with him. :D
I actually started to play Pleasantview in this prima guide suggested order myself! I also applied some gameplay rules inspired by you Cindy! It's a lot of fun but at the same time quite nerve-wrecking, when I want my sims to get promotions and go to college but they just want to eat cereal and have bubble baths.. I quite often look through your blog to see if there's a rule I want to apply to my game, thank you so much for that!
@@PleasantSims I love it too! It keeps the game interesting and fun, so it's not always the perfect life. That's what I think sims 4 is missing, it lacks depth - everything is happy and perfect all the time and the whims sims have have no real meaning or purpose. That mortimer and alexander moves into the caliente household makes perfect sense! In ninas bedroom you can see one single bed all in blue, all set for alexander? 😀 Fun note, michael bachelor whom dina was married to will haunt the household and he'll dislike that mortimer and dina are together.
I really enjoyed this! I can’t wait for Veronaville. As a kid I didn’t really understand or know that there’s scripted events! Now I’m revisiting the game and I’m honestly so fascinated by all the detail in the sims 2! I love it.
I always have dina move into the mansion. One time, they had a child together and Mortimer soon died. She then got with Daniel Pleasant and Alex aged up and kicked them all out so he and Lucy could live a wonderful life alone.
I've had Daniel and Mary-Sue divorce but the funny (and sort of sad bit) was that both of them went into Aspiration failure. She kicked out Daniel after and I actually put him together with Nina as one of the many people she wants to date but other than that he's squatting at his Sister and in-laws house. That's at least what I do with my pleasant family.
I was playing the Caliente household recently and Don asked Nina on a date. Right after Nina got to the community lot, Don’s taxi pulled up and Dina, Kaylynn, AND Cassandra were ALL IN THE TAXI WITH HIM. Mind you when Nina left home, Dina was still home. She just materialized in Don’s taxi. Needless to say, there was a LOT of drama.
Last time i played them, Daniel wanted to buy a hot tub (so i bought it) and when the maid had finish he wanted to woohoo in the hot tub. He managed to woohoo just before Mary Sue got demoted and then the maid sneaked out behind the house to her car as Mary Sue was getting in. It was perfect
This is why I love the sims 2, it gives you all the bits and pieces for you to create drama, while still giving you the option to ignore it if you please. Having that little push while still having some freedom makes this game one of the bests
I LOVED Veronaville! I always took tons of snapshots and made a whole storyline where Romeo and Juliet run away to get married in secret, but then Tybalt beats the sh*t out of Romeo when he's in his tux on his way to meet Juliet, and then he and Juliet break up. They both go to college separately and then reconnect later and marry, having a shitton of kids
Last I played the Pleasant household I left it on second speed. Everyone fought with Lilith. Everyone. So she ran away in the evening and returned pregnant because of mods 😳
Strangely, when I do put Cassandra to kiss Don, he is mostly likely to leave her at the altar. And after that, she always wants to call Darren, sooooo he can try to confort her 👀 😂😂 TS2 is the best!
I've never even played TS2 before and when the marriage cutscene plays for Don and Cassandra I always hold my breath and internally go "O h n o" when I see Don's hand start to shake

I know you’ll likely never see this, but I was replaying the intros with your guides to relive some *pleasant* memories, and I need to babble about what happened!! So I went through and redownloaded all my mods, and got started. First of all, The burglar actually got away with theft for my first time ever in Dina’s house! But then, as I got to Brandi’s all hell broke loose. She had baby Bobbi (a little girl) and then IMMEDIATELY DIED!! The boys were at school, so Bobbi’s been taken away by the social worker too! I have NEVER had such drama and I’m not sure just where to take Dustin and Beau now! I’m so excited!!
Yes, I think she goes into failure when she gets fired. I think this is the first time I've ever had her fired. Usually I get a demotion so it caught me off guard! LOL
I make Mary Sue take one vacation day, so she stays home to woho Daniel. This makes Kaylynn upset and Mary Sue don't go into aspiration failure since she didn't get fired.
just discovered your channel and i am OBSESSED! i was too young to play the sims 2 (i was 5 in 2004) so i never played it on pc. i played the sims 2 on the play station for a while before moving onto my og sims (sims 3). i never knew how good the sims 2 was until i watched your videos! the detail, the storyline - its so good! you're selling the sims girl, can't wait to spend hours watching all of your sims 2 videos xx
Ach jaa, the good old classic and iconic Sims 2 is really missed in the sims 4. The drama, the stories, the theories, this nostalgia, the special sim that have caught a place in our heart and forever will be there... just remaster the sims 2 and give options from the sims 3 and sims 4 and it would be the best thing ever! Love your channel btw, you’re just so fun. 😂👏🏽 “ uh don those buns... he gets me every time” - I can’t 🤣 I replayed these sim households several times in my life and I went through all kinds of variations and it’s so much fun and I’m sad that we don’t have this sims 3 option with being able to start a new file.
I've actually never really messed with the pre-made neighborhoods much in all my time playing this game but watching your LPs and streams had me wanting to do my first proper Pleasantview playthrough, so this is video was perfectly timed! Thanks Cindy! :3
I always thought Don married Cassandra because Cassandra kisses him and makes their relationship just high enough. Doesn't matter which order I play in, if she doesn't kiss him, he leaves her at the altar.
Nope, that hasn't been the case when I've tested it many times for myself and again when making this tutorial. He'll still marry her because their relationship goes up overnight - like they do - just enough. The kiss is only helpful if you haven't played Don first past 6:00 PM from what I can tell.
Great video. I have had Mary Sue come home and go into aspiration failure before smacking the crap out of her husband, and, the first time I played, I had her come in and catch them in the act. (I did not know that was going to happen, either and I was amused and mortified at the same time!) Casandra's face when Don runs off...poor girl! She's better off without him anyway. When I've had kids sneak out and get caught I have seen the police officer come in the house to lecture the parents: Often they're asleep when he does that but I guess that doesn't matter. I had one teen try to sneak out of the house while both her parents were awake and in the kitchen. She intelligently walked right out the front door in plain view of her parents causing her mother to chase after her and chew her out. I laughed so hard. Even better, if she could have went out the back door they wouldn't have seen her and she could probably get away with it. Great burn there too at the end. Love it!
Oooh I love seeing the "scripted" thing. I used to always play Goths first and play out the fiasco of Don leaving Cassandra at the altar. My latest plays are an alternate universe where Cassandra has ONE kid with Don (cause they make cute kids), Don leaves her, Cassandra goes off with Darren, they make kids & adopt together...yeah.

Fun fact: The stereo in Don's house is actually broken thanks to the expansion pack. If you have the base game, the stereo is functioning properly and will play salsa music.

You're guides are quite helpful. Here's how my most recent playthrough went (I have ultimate collection, btw): *Paired Don/Cassandra (I legit think he does love her, just wants to sow his wild oats, and he adores his daughter Pandora) * I pair Brandi/Darren (they moved into Darren's house) and they have a daughter named Bailey. Dustin tries to clean his act up and is the best big brother. *have MarySue and Daniel divorced and they were both in aspiration failure; after enough of bumming on his sister's couch for a few days, Daniel picks himself up and marries the maid and they have a son I named Michael after my dad (he was watching me play for a bit) * MarySue gets a makeover to put herself back out there in the workforce. After one bad fight with Angela, MarySue thinks it's best Lilith moves in with her grandparents. (The Oldies a bit out of touch, but they mean well, and Lilith thrived there) * The Caliente sisters opened a boutique names Tango's. No reason for this, just thought it was a neat idea * I had Angela break up with Dustin (he was just a high school romance to her), but Lilith and Dirk stay a couple. *I reintroduced Bella Goth into the Goth household; after being abducted by aliens, she's trying to pick up the pieces of her life, but is hopeful she can. Mortimer doesn't know if he should go through with marrying Dina or get back with Bella. Cassie and Alex are just happy their mom is back.

I'm a little late, but I still want to share my Pleasantview version. I've been playing with the same Pleasantview save file regularly for over ten years now (not so much recently) and watching this video made me feel all fuzzy and nostalgic thinking back to how it all started out for me with the pre-made families. So here's how it went for me: - Don leaves Cassandra at the altar and she goes on to marry Darren Dreamer and move into the Dreamer household to have a daughter with Darren - Dina and Mortimer get married and have another son in Goth Manor. They live there with Alexander who would eventually marry the daughter of Daniel's sister (don't know her name, Lucy Fröhlich in German). After Mortimer dies, Dina and her son move out to leech onto a rich sim of my own - Mary-Sue catches Daniel cheating with Kaylynn. They divorce and Mary-Sue moves in with her parents, the Oldies, taking Angela with her. She spends the rest of her life focusing on her career. Daniel and Kaylynn keep the house (and Lillith), marry and have another daughter together. - Lillith marries Dirk, Angela marries Dustin - Brandi and Nina Caliente get married, buy a better house from the Caliente money and live there happily with Brandi's three children. - Daniel's sister and her husband eventually divorce because she has an affair with Don Lothario. She moves in with Don, but "tragically" dies in a fire after she found about all of Don's other affairs and threatened to expose him to everybody. Her ex-husband (John?) later marries Kaylynn after Daniel has died from old age. Thank you so much for this awesome video! I like making Dina move into the Goth home, make Brandi move in with Nina with her children once Dustin goes to college, have Don leave Cassandra at the alter and then have Cass date Darren. I really miss this drama that the sims gave us back then :( It’s why I created my own machinima for the sims pleasantview on the sims 4.
I connected Strangetown and Pleasantville. Olive Specter ended up merried with Mortimer but she cheated on her with Nina Kaliente. Olive „killed” them both as an evil witch 🧙♀️
my play style is: - cassandra marries don, gets pregnant, eventually leaves him due to him being a pos - mary-sue divorces daniel due to him being a pos - cassandra & mary-sue eventually realize they're totally in-love and decide to raise the new baby together right b4 the twins go off to college (iirc, mary-sue is close to becoming an elder, so i also fix that) for some reason, i also remember getting darren together with brandi? i miss the way sims used to be. 😢

I always move Morty into Dina's condo and then move Nina out (since that's how the game is setup). But I know a lot of people like to move Dina into the mansion. It's really just a matter of preference! :)

Completely agree OP - Dina doesn’t just want a portion of the Goth money; she wants it all AND the house! My Pleasantview usually goes a bit differently because, in my mind, the Prima Guides aren’t the ‘official’ way to play. When I first loaded up the game all I had to go on was the neighbourhood story that pops up, so I played in the order that said - Goth, Caliente, Lothario, Broke, Pleasant, Dreamer. This causes things to go quite differently to the Prima way!
Don usually leaves Cassandra at the altar, then at the Calientes Dina proposes to Morty. I ignore the prompt to get married and for Nina to move out because it makes no sense. (With the no20khandout mod it means Mortimer is moving in and then immediately giving his sister-in-law some of his money to move out? Why? And why would he leave his poor broken-hearted daughter all alone in the mansion?) Then Don Woohoos Nina and Dina which is much juicier as Dina is now engaged (and with the mod I have, playables can get pregnant even if not being played so it’s always exciting!) Next Brandi - pretty much the same, then the Pleasants - same, then the Dreamers - Cassandra is now single so Darren usually ends up flirting with her and they fall in love. Then on the second go through I’ll have Mortimer ask Dina to marry him so she moves into the Goth mansion and Nina still has a proper house to live in!

I had the same but I didn’t save the game and started again until their relationship was 100/100 then Don agreed to be married. It only required a few romantic interactions to change the result. I was young and I couldn’t handle his rejection. Maybe it was better for me in that age.

In my plays I do this:
- Goth family: Don leaves Cassandra at the altar, and she'll always have the want to talk to Darren. I lock that.
- Caliente: I marry Dina to Mortimer, my clue to leave Alexander in the Goth mansion with Cassandra is the scripted message "two's company, three is a crowd". There are supposed to be 3 people at that moment.
- Lothario: the same you did in the video.
- Dreamer: I use Darren to invite Cassandra over, and he'll always greet her with a kiss making both fall in love on the spot. In the following round, Cassandra will have the want to marry Darren and I make the wedding at the Goth family so the mansion ends up with Cassandra, Alexander, Dirk and Darren.
I don't miss scripted events in that way, and in the other households I do basically what you did in the video too.

When I recently restarted my Pleasantview I ended up with Mary-Sue and Daniel both going into aspiration failure! It was hilarious to see Kaylynn do the "this person is crazy" animation as the two of them fell to the floor.

I think it's only a 1/3 chance to be Gordon King, as there are 3 burglars in Pleasantview. It was Russ Bear in my game.

About the portrait: A sim doesn't have to stand there the entire time to be painted, after the sim who does the painting gets started, you can cancel the other sim's action and let them go about their day, the painter will continue painting even if the other sim is gone.
I've played the sims 3 my whole life and never thought the sims 2 would have so much more emotion and context and animation scenes.
It's the best of all the Sims games!

My play through was similar for the most part! Don left Cassandra and I tried to find Cassandra someone to date cause Darren didn't want her anymore. At some point Mary Sue showed up and I thought why not. Now they're in love.
I always name Brandi's last son Brandon because he's her twin.
In the French version of the game, Beau is named Brandon, it was just for fun fact.

Mary-Sue's aspiration failure was because you chose the option that got her fired. Losing her job put her in aspiration failure before she noticed Daniel fooling around with the maid. I usually pick the same option, and just have Daniel and Kaylynn cuddle until she's back on her feet and ready to catch them in the act.
Also, I couldn't help but notice that when you played the Pleasants, it was Angela who was autonomously mean to Lilith every time. I personally prefer the interpretation that both girls are sweethearts deep down and their rivalry is a result of Daniel and Mary-Sue being crappy parents who play favorites, but you can definitely see why a lot of the fandom considers Angela to actually be the mean one.
I always encounter Angela being mean to Lilith. They have literally the same base personality, but lilith grew up badly and her personality has suffered. Idk if that's why she's so emo or if it's because her family continues treating her badly because she acted out from being snubbed a good childhood? She's treated as the black sheep and Angela gets all prise.
Though... Maybe I'm projecting because similar things happened to me and my sister, where she got doted on and I got left behind. Doesn't bode well that I was dressing like Lilith back when the game came out and I guess my family saw that and decided that I was now the "bad kid" and the favorable treatment toward my other siblings just got worse.. woops.
I always read the memories and descriptions and look at the family album in order to decide how I interpret where each family is at.
Sims attack autonomously, so if people control Lilith more often, Angela will naturally be the aggressor. Both of them are equally likely to do it.

THEN i have daniel and kaylynn woohoo, which brings mary-sue into aspiration failure A SECOND TIME. then i tell daniel to scram, and i usually have them do it in front of lilith and angela, so i see their sad reaction. i also have a story in my mind where mary-sue brings a lawyer against daniel and she keeps the house. yep, i'm here for their chaos... ^^;

I make kaylynn have a relationship with both Daniel and Mary-Sue then have Mary sue catch Daniel cheating with the try for baby option and then have Daniel catch Mary Sue cheating and they take Kaylynn into the household out of pity because she is pregnant. And after all of them make up i use acr mode to start a polyamorous relationship. With the kids lilith ran away after seeing his dad cheat after she come back they adjust to the situation and slowly build Angela and lilith's relationships and make them bffs and then i fix their romance life i sometimes make lilith gay 👁️👄👁️

I always ended up playing the scenarios out of order and with Don leaving Cassandra at the altar, so I had no idea I was missing out on a good part of the scripted events! I do still think it’s a worthy sacrifice to get Cassandra hitched with Darren instead, lol. They’re my OTP of Pleasantview.
I feel like the sims just went downhill after will wright left maxis in 2009
I think it started going downhill a tad after he left the series to focus on spore in 2006... Though it didn't get reaaally bad till 4, there is a noticable if gradual decline from mid Sims 2 EPs all the way through the Sims 3's lifespan, and peaking with, in my opinion, Strangerville. The Sims 4 had it's issues loooooong before that of course, but I personally feel that was the point in which the game truly hit rock bottom and has been dragging itself along that bottom ever since.
But amongst some notable things is how The Sims 2 eps started to get slightly more sloppy and unfocused. Not enough to be bad, but enough to mess with the game's balancing a tad. Then the Sims 3 got really lazy with animations (esp idles and things like cars and elevators where they straight up didn't bother animating them. But the animation quality is a downgrade elsewhere if you have a keen eye.) and other things that impact immersion... A lot of things were dumbed down like genetics and relationships, and some things were straight up gone with no suitable replacement like the meaningful memory system, fears, and interests. Then 4... There's nothing I can say about 4 that hasn't been said a billion times, and all the positives about the game (and there definitely are some) in it's current state have caveats.
sims 2 feels like a programmer's love child, sims 3 onwards just feel too commercial? idk

@Baptiste L. They had *some* animation, but your sims just disappear on their way in, and appear on the above or below floor. So it might as well not be since they failed to animate the most important part of entering and exiting an elevator: entering and exiting the elevator!
Compare this to the Sims 2 where they enter, and the doors fully close before they disappear. And if I'm not miataken, if you are following your sim, the camera will go up and down each floor till it reaches the destination like it's following your Sim's journey. Because that game was designed to be immersive, and them just popping out and into existance ain't immersive. In fact, I'm decently sure there are no points in 2 where sims disappear in a visibly jarring way during normal gameplay outside of crossing the lot boundary. In 3 (and 4) Sims just teleport about whenever EA is too lazy to animate shit.
They will often phase into rabbit holes without even so much as touching a doorknob. They don't even get in or out of the cars, both them and the car just disappear and reappear on the road. Even if they had to force the car to teleport to enable the freedom of driveway placement, there is zero reason the sims couldn't get in and out, instead of random immersion breaking teleportation. I mean... It's like if they removed the animation for changing clothes in a future title cuz they couldn't be arsed... It's lazy and has a quite negative impact on your ability to immerse yourself in the world and as such make even the slightest connection to your sims.
That's exactly it, but I still liked Sims 3 - Sims 4 kinda has to get there
I usually don't play pre-made Sims but I decided to start after I watched this. A week in, Don has died of food poisoning and every woman in the neighbourhood is on the verge of aspiration failure as a result. I'm so good at this.

In my second Pleasantview, i had all Cassandra, Mortimer, Don and Dina (and Alexander of course) in Goth mansion, and Dina cheated on Morty with Don everyday, and also had 2 kids with him, while Mortimer believed they were his kids. One day, he find out about their romance, while Dina with pregnant with Don with 3rd child, and kicked both out of mansion, they had to live in cheapest apartment :D After Mortimer's death Dina tried to get rich again, left Don in that cheap apartment and stole Alexander;s heart xD He left his wife for her, and now they live together, Dina again pregnant, but with Alexander;s child. Pure soap opera :D

- Mortimer and Dina are married and live together in the Goth mansion
- Nina and Don have twins together but Don abandoned them now Nina is a single parent raising them on her own
- Mary-Sue caught Daniel cheating but are still together, but Mary-Sue is constantly having mental breakdowns
- Don is still having relations with Dina behind Mortimer’s back
Still going to add more to the story but it’s going well so far 🤣
I never really played them in "order". Honestly until I started watching your videos the only premades I had ever played were the Curious brothers. I love when Don runs from the alter. I usually focus on the Broke family, give Brandi a romance secondary aspiration and let the drama happen.

In my favourite gameplay, Cassandra caught Don cheating with Nina and left him. She leaned on Darren Dreamer for support, and when she was fine again, she fell for him. They married and had twins, and also Lilith Pleasant moved in with them after a falling out with both her mom and dad. Mortimer also didn´t marry Nina but single mom Brandi Broke, who had a daughter with him. :D
I actually started to play Pleasantview in this prima guide suggested order myself! I also applied some gameplay rules inspired by you Cindy! It's a lot of fun but at the same time quite nerve-wrecking, when I want my sims to get promotions and go to college but they just want to eat cereal and have bubble baths.. I quite often look through your blog to see if there's a rule I want to apply to my game, thank you so much for that!

That's what I think sims 4 is missing, it lacks depth - everything is happy and perfect all the time and the whims sims have have no real meaning or purpose. That mortimer and alexander moves into the caliente household makes perfect sense! In ninas bedroom you can see one single bed all in blue, all set for alexander? 😀 Fun note, michael bachelor whom dina was married to will haunt the household and he'll dislike that mortimer and dina are together.
I really enjoyed this! I can’t wait for Veronaville. As a kid I didn’t really understand or know that there’s scripted events! Now I’m revisiting the game and I’m honestly so fascinated by all the detail in the sims 2! I love it.

I always have dina move into the mansion. One time, they had a child together and Mortimer soon died. She then got with Daniel Pleasant and Alex aged up and kicked them all out so he and Lucy could live a wonderful life alone.
I've had Daniel and Mary-Sue divorce but the funny (and sort of sad bit) was that both of them went into Aspiration failure. She kicked out Daniel after and I actually put him together with Nina as one of the many people she wants to date but other than that he's squatting at his Sister and in-laws house. That's at least what I do with my pleasant family.
I love that story too! He and Nina make a good couple, really. But I can never put them together for more than a fling. 💙😆
I was playing the Caliente household recently and Don asked Nina on a date. Right after Nina got to the community lot, Don’s taxi pulled up and Dina, Kaylynn, AND Cassandra were ALL IN THE TAXI WITH HIM. Mind you when Nina left home, Dina was still home. She just materialized in Don’s taxi. Needless to say, there was a LOT of drama.

Last time i played them, Daniel wanted to buy a hot tub (so i bought it) and when the maid had finish he wanted to woohoo in the hot tub. He managed to woohoo just before Mary Sue got demoted and then the maid sneaked out behind the house to her car as Mary Sue was getting in. It was perfect

I always took tons of snapshots and made a whole storyline where Romeo and Juliet run away to get married in secret, but then Tybalt beats the sh*t out of Romeo when he's in his tux on his way to meet Juliet, and then he and Juliet break up. They both go to college separately and then reconnect later and marry, having a shitton of kids

I know you’ll likely never see this, but I was replaying the intros with your guides to relive some *pleasant* memories, and I need to babble about what happened!!
So I went through and redownloaded all my mods, and got started. First of all, The burglar actually got away with theft for my first time ever in Dina’s house! But then, as I got to Brandi’s all hell broke loose. She had baby Bobbi (a little girl) and then IMMEDIATELY DIED!! The boys were at school, so Bobbi’s been taken away by the social worker too! I have NEVER had such drama and I’m not sure just where to take Dustin and Beau now! I’m so excited!!

Yes, I think she goes into failure when she gets fired. I think this is the first time I've ever had her fired. Usually I get a demotion so it caught me off guard! LOL
I make Mary Sue take one vacation day, so she stays home to woho Daniel. This makes Kaylynn upset and Mary Sue don't go into aspiration failure since she didn't get fired.
just discovered your channel and i am OBSESSED! i was too young to play the sims 2 (i was 5 in 2004) so i never played it on pc. i played the sims 2 on the play station for a while before moving onto my og sims (sims 3). i never knew how good the sims 2 was until i watched your videos! the detail, the storyline - its so good! you're selling the sims girl, can't wait to spend hours watching all of your sims 2 videos xx

Ach jaa, the good old classic and iconic Sims 2 is really missed in the sims 4. The drama, the stories, the theories, this nostalgia, the special sim that have caught a place in our heart and forever will be there... just remaster the sims 2 and give options from the sims 3 and sims 4 and it would be the best thing ever!

I replayed these sim households several times in my life and I went through all kinds of variations and it’s so much fun and I’m sad that we don’t have this sims 3 option with being able to start a new file.

I always thought Don married Cassandra because Cassandra kisses him and makes their relationship just high enough. Doesn't matter which order I play in, if she doesn't kiss him, he leaves her at the altar.
Nope, that hasn't been the case when I've tested it many times for myself and again when making this tutorial. He'll still marry her because their relationship goes up overnight - like they do - just enough. The kiss is only helpful if you haven't played Don first past 6:00 PM from what I can tell.
Great video. I have had Mary Sue come home and go into aspiration failure before smacking the crap out of her husband, and, the first time I played, I had her come in and catch them in the act. (I did not know that was going to happen, either and I was amused and mortified at the same time!)
Casandra's face when Don runs off...poor girl! She's better off without him anyway.
When I've had kids sneak out and get caught I have seen the police officer come in the house to lecture the parents: Often they're asleep when he does that but I guess that doesn't matter. I had one teen try to sneak out of the house while both her parents were awake and in the kitchen. She intelligently walked right out the front door in plain view of her parents causing her mother to chase after her and chew her out. I laughed so hard. Even better, if she could have went out the back door they wouldn't have seen her and she could probably get away with it.
Great burn there too at the end. Love it!
Oooh I love seeing the "scripted" thing. I used to always play Goths first and play out the fiasco of Don leaving Cassandra at the altar. My latest plays are an alternate universe where Cassandra has ONE kid with Don (cause they make cute kids), Don leaves her, Cassandra goes off with Darren, they make kids & adopt together...yeah.
I'm going to try to play by the scripted events too !! It looks so fun. I love your videos as always, you're one of the sweetest Simmer on the platform !

It's weird that the scripted events in the game are set up to have Mortimer move in with Dina and Don move in with Cassandra.
I remember when I was a kid and first played Sims 2 I went to the Goth family right away, and clicked the wedding arch and was SHOOK when Don left her.
The consequences of this game! Omg the sims 4 could never.

Fun fact: The stereo in Don's house is actually broken thanks to the expansion pack. If you have the base game, the stereo is functioning properly and will play salsa music.

You're guides are quite helpful. Here's how my most recent playthrough went (I have ultimate collection, btw):
*Paired Don/Cassandra (I legit think he does love her, just wants to sow his wild oats, and he adores his daughter Pandora)
* I pair Brandi/Darren (they moved into Darren's house) and they have a daughter named Bailey. Dustin tries to clean his act up and is the best big brother.
*have MarySue and Daniel divorced and they were both in aspiration failure; after enough of bumming on his sister's couch for a few days, Daniel picks himself up and marries the maid and they have a son I named Michael after my dad (he was watching me play for a bit)
* MarySue gets a makeover to put herself back out there in the workforce. After one bad fight with Angela, MarySue thinks it's best Lilith moves in with her grandparents. (The Oldies a bit out of touch, but they mean well, and Lilith thrived there)
* The Caliente sisters opened a boutique names Tango's. No reason for this, just thought it was a neat idea
* I had Angela break up with Dustin (he was just a high school romance to her), but Lilith and Dirk stay a couple.
*I reintroduced Bella Goth into the Goth household; after being abducted by aliens, she's trying to pick up the pieces of her life, but is hopeful she can. Mortimer doesn't know if he should go through with marrying Dina or get back with Bella. Cassie and Alex are just happy their mom is back.
I remember once Dina left Mortimer at the alter for me. I was very confused by it it may just have been something I did by accident as I was a wee lass but still
I never realized that there were actually scripted events until now and I love it

I'm a little late, but I still want to share my Pleasantview version. I've been playing with the same Pleasantview save file regularly for over ten years now (not so much recently) and watching this video made me feel all fuzzy and nostalgic thinking back to how it all started out for me with the pre-made families. So here's how it went for me:
- Don leaves Cassandra at the altar and she goes on to marry Darren Dreamer and move into the Dreamer household to have a daughter with Darren
- Dina and Mortimer get married and have another son in Goth Manor. They live there with Alexander who would eventually marry the daughter of Daniel's sister (don't know her name, Lucy Fröhlich in German). After Mortimer dies, Dina and her son move out to leech onto a rich sim of my own
- Mary-Sue catches Daniel cheating with Kaylynn. They divorce and Mary-Sue moves in with her parents, the Oldies, taking Angela with her. She spends the rest of her life focusing on her career. Daniel and Kaylynn keep the house (and Lillith), marry and have another daughter together.
- Lillith marries Dirk, Angela marries Dustin
- Brandi and Nina Caliente get married, buy a better house from the Caliente money and live there happily with Brandi's three children.
- Daniel's sister and her husband eventually divorce because she has an affair with Don Lothario. She moves in with Don, but "tragically" dies in a fire after she found about all of Don's other affairs and threatened to expose him to everybody. Her ex-husband (John?) later marries Kaylynn after Daniel has died from old age.

That is so hilarious. I usually pair up Don with maid and Dreamer with Cassandra. And Pleasant get another baby and twins make up and become sisters
I like making Dina move into the Goth home, make Brandi move in with Nina with her children once Dustin goes to college, have Don leave Cassandra at the alter and then have Cass date Darren. I really miss this drama that the sims gave us back then :( It’s why I created my own machinima for the sims pleasantview on the sims 4.
I connected Strangetown and Pleasantville. Olive Specter ended up merried with Mortimer but she cheated on her with Nina Kaliente. Olive „killed” them both as an evil witch 🧙♀️
How did you connect the towns? With a mod?
my play style is:
- cassandra marries don, gets pregnant, eventually leaves him due to him being a pos
- mary-sue divorces daniel due to him being a pos
- cassandra & mary-sue eventually realize they're totally in-love and decide to raise the new baby together right b4 the twins go off to college (iirc, mary-sue is close to becoming an elder, so i also fix that)
for some reason, i also remember getting darren together with brandi? i miss the way sims used to be. 😢
