      Keeping in theme with other newer civs, that would've been a good penalty to give them to try and slow down their expansion because as is, this civ seems S+ tier for domination; the +1 movement to EVERY unit allows you to break the way the game's played by itself.

    • @shawnfreeman3932

      It wasn't Colombia's fault every other Western civ had their spies running negative loyalty spy missions

      That should be apply to so many civs. Example is portugal (if it gets brought into the game) cities should lose loyalty -10 out of a 100 if on a different contients ( this could really implied to any western civ to reflect losing colonies throughout the time because of loyalty)

    I am Colombian and I can say the following:
    1. The haciendas mechanic is spot on of the Colombian culture. Even today, the concept of the Hacienda or Finca being a rural state you own to retreat to the countryside is what we call the "Colombian dream".
    2. I cannot identify the music by name, but it sounds like traditional Colombian Aristocrat Ballroom music of the era. It souund really Colombian.
    3. The Comandante General unit is also spot on. Back during the Liberation war (Called the "Campaña Admirable") Bolivar rellied heavily in His field Marshals, generals and Lieutenants and most of them became National Heroes as big as Bolivar in Colombia and Venezuela. So, Along with Bolivar, Santander, Marshall Sucre, Urdaneta, Paez, General Rondon, Anzoategui, Miranda and others we consider them as our "Forefathers" if you will.
    4. The unic unit is kind of funny. I think they were aiming for the LANCERO ("Spearmans"). The Lanceros are mythical figures of the liberation campaing. You see, They where peasants from ther Llanos region (That is why the unit is called "Llaneros", but not all llaneros where fighters) that where brave mounted Spearmans and fought without saddles on big horses and some say they fought even naked on very cold weather. They where basically a Levy mounted unit that proved to be incredible effective because of their thoughtness and bravery. The Legend/History says that 15 Lanceros (commanded by general Juan José Rondon) single handledly turned around the most Decisive battle fo the campaing (The battle of Vargas Swamp), with a glorious charge that broke the Spanish infantry and allowed the Main Bolivar's Army to regroup. The llanos region is also the birthplace of a very authentic folcloric music very traditional both in Colombia an Venezuela (The llanos region is Shared between both "Brother Countries", as we called ourserves) so they mixed both things together and we got a funny "Musical mounted warrior" armed with a guitar, lol (that is not a guitar tho, Is a Cuatro, a traditional Llanero instrument). But to clarify, this unit is based on the Lancero, whe didn't fight the independence war with guitars lol. (As a final fun fact: Colombian Soldiers are still called "Lanceros" to this day)

      I'm from Venezuela and this game seems like a class of history but funny. I've study all of this and fun fact, I'm from Los Llanos, specifically where Paez was from.
      I agree with you that it's supposed to be "Lanceros", but "Llaneros" is funny to hear from non Spanish speakers.

    Something I want to point out is that each of the Comandantes Generales is actually a real historical figure that fought alongside the Ejercito Patriota for gran Colombia. In the video we see José Antonio Páez, Gregor Macgregor (he was Scottish), Antonio Nariño and Rafael Urdaneta. I am interesting in seeing how many of them will exist, because the bonuses of +4 strenght are apparently for ever so spaming Comandantes Generales could become a source of infinite source of strenght.
    Something else. This means that great Generals and Comandantes Generales do not mix, so there must be a separate list of them for purchase or they only appear with the ability, in which case, there will only appear (¿8?)

    This guy is so OP, he gets way too many bonuses that allow him to be aggressive.
    Early wars would be so easy with a free great general, extra movement and the ability to attack after promotions, all of that before anyone even has walls.
    Mid game would also be super easy with his unit, 89 strength with 6 movement is not okay.
    Late game will already be over because you would already be too powerful at that point.

      I feel the same way, he is many civs bonus but the entire game. He gets an extra trade route - Cree, Persia. Better movement- better than any special condition war bonus - Scotland, Persia and doesn't require a building like Mongolia or Dido is better /equal to many unique units with movement bonuses, Nubia etc. I think he should be nerfed.

    • @reporogue9135
      @reporogue9135 4 роки тому +2

      Maybe? I suspect he'll just be really strong. The unique Cavalry is good, and will make for some really strong end game pushes, but it comes out far too late to be really make or break. I'm not 100% sure when the Hacienda arrives, but I suspect its late Ren, early Industrial era. Again, good, but its not going to make or break anything.
      The extra movement bonus and promoting without ending a unit's turn are great bonuses, but they're more subtle than the raw power that a lot of other Civs get early. That being said, Gran Colombia is really well set up for Classical and Medieval era rushes with their free, unique general.
      We'll have to see. Like PotatoMcWhiskey, I think they'll be super solid overall. In the hands of a good player who is able to optimize the value of the free movement and extra turns saved from promotions? Gran Colombia is going to roll face. But I think there are Civs that can snowball faster (Sumeria, Nubia, probably even Scythia), which is incredibly strong.

    • @Corrael
      @Corrael 4 роки тому +1

      @@reporogue9135 I can’t imagine Hacienda showing up later than Australia’s UI, which is the clear comparison here. With that said, scouting, builder and settlers all getting the bonus from turn 1, and the extra movement and promote+action also factoring in, I can definitely see Bolivar having the early muscle to snowball with generic units. Remember, every turn counts, a settler landing a turn earlier is a turn earlier it produces something. Builders can climb hills and drop a mine in the same turn. These sorts of tiny benefits add up and are why Persia is as strong as it is, and Gran Colombia has the bonus when it counts the most - the very earliest turns. Heck, it means in some games you can have your settler on the plains hill and nab that extra hammer without losing the turn!

Culturally we are more relevant from sanjuanero, carranga (70's), cumbia and other genres. Joropo (the genre of the Llaneros) weren't quite relevant in the country until one of our singers won a Grammy (a Latin one, if I reckon). Venezuela, in the other hand, they breath, taste, feel and hear Joropo as their main genre (after all, at least a third of the country is plains or Llanos, Colombia have their quota there too).

    If you could get the first two GG's + hit the medieval unit early, that's:
    +10 to classical units from the GG
    Possibly +8 from the UU
    +4 for oligarchy
    That's +22 base combat strength. More than enough to one shot any archer/spearman/possibly heavy chariot, and two shot any enemy swordsman/x bowman/pikeman.
    Your swordsmen would be unstoppable (nearly) until gunpowder units, and even then would still be viable.
