In episode 57 of Whisky in SV, Kevin and I reviewed the new Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch A124. This release from Heaven Hill comes with significantly worse specs from the last release which was C923 and widely agreed to be one of the best bourbons of last year. Specifically, the A124 comes aged at 10 Years 9 Months and clocks in at 119 Proof (or 59.5% ABV). When compared with the C923 specs which were 13 Years and 7 months, and 133 Proof (or 66.5% ABV), we were hoping to dispel this deep-seated feeling that the specs do matter. However, unfortunately for us - an honestly for Heaven Hill - this was a missed opportunity to do so, because there is no contest that the better whisky by far is the one with the better specs. #whiskyinsv #bourboninsv • #WhiskyInSV 057: Elija...
