Hi Tomley can you do a review on the HNR H9804 FOXHOUND?
Have a look on the specs and tell me what you think.
This means nothing. Almost all auto manufacturers still use asbestos in brake pads and clutch frictions. This is nothing but standard procedure.
Howdy mate. I honestly hope you and the family have a great 2025. And that the subs roll in for you. Like I've said before, your vids just have a good vibe.
Anyway, I have a vehicle I'd like you to review. You might even like it. I recently watched your vid on your 1/10 Willy's Jeep. (Awesome) But I found a different one on Ali/Banggood, for a third the price ($78Au, £40ish). It might be junk, it might be a bargain. It "looks" identical. I know like me, you love your military stuff, so if you have time or the notion takes you, take a gander at :-

Phil what does it mean if you've upgraded your car?, I.e sway bars, new servo, changed receiver and handset.?
Hi Tomley, i know but if it is possible could you pls do a review of wltoys a242 series, they are 1/24, kinda rare.
I love your content, it keeps me very entretained.

This has been going on in Australia for nearly two years. Traxxas had been banned importing their cars here. They tried to circumvent Australian Customs, got caught, and banned. They said they don’t know that the Chinese manufacturer was using asbestos in the pads. The way Traxxas behaves, this is karma.
This is true, I was in the hobby game, and we had repeated recalls of traxxas products due to asbestos in certain parts. This was going on for the last couple years.
@@kieranvanblyenburgh hasnt stopped vendors selling traxxas products unless the products were fixed at some point.
@ as far as I’m aware the hobby shops don’t want the hassle of having to return the stock and chase a refund or replacement from the Aussie distributor because traxxas makes it so difficult.
So they just keep it on the shelves and try to sell it as is…
Traxxas love to sue people/company's does that mean we can sue them now 😂
Hopefully alot of people starts suing them
Not unless you have cancer or some other illness or financial loss - and to win, you'll have to prove you developed cancer from their pads. In other words, no, don't even think about it.

Gotta have 9 to be up to date! 😆
Perfect timing. All of my slippers were worn out and needing to be replaced anyways.
Go with Hot Racing aluminum pads...they work better and last a helluva lot longer than stock
I know asbestos is very bad, but our exposure to it in the ways of concern in this recall honestly seem pretty minimal when compared to lubricants, paint and adhesive fumes, or especially metal, carbon fiber, and even plastic dust. I'm sure a lot of us wrench on our own full size vehicles too and there's a whole other level to the kinds of stuff that has been through our bodies with that hobby as well.
Nearly all of mankind is full of plastic and heavy metals at this point, I`m gonna have fun with my Rustler this winter (:
Doesnt matter, If you let them away with it, then it just gets used again, Remember nobody gives a shit about you, only about them..
But you know the dangers and choose to do so with those chemicals the asbestos no one knew about
Maybe so, but it only takes one fibre to lodge in your lung and form a tumour.
Being in industrial construction, racing and wrenching on all my junk... not worried at all. Yall can do what you feel is best for you, I'm ripping my rig. NO worries at all. Just don't sniff the parts when you remove it
Arrma had the same issue not too long ago, most people aren’t interested in getting the parts replaced from what I’ve seen throughout Facebook
Indeed they did, and they tried to cover it up as well, but the Traxxas haters and Arrma fanboys wont mention that 😂😂😂😂
But the Arrma one was caught before they reached consumers and the whole 3d range was taken off the shelf and returned.
@@Rockatha No it wasn't caught before they reach the customers, they just left the customers with the car and didn't do an official recall, all they did was pull all the unsold stock out of shops and shipped them to the USA to be sold, all the cars that had been sold for years before were left with customers

My only takeaway concern from this is the potential number of other models from other companies that could contain the same issue or any other hidden risks yet discovered, especially if coming from China as the manufacturer region, which already applies to most. I'm from the uk and have owned long- term a 1/16 e revo vxl that i'm saddened to see included on the list; but i've also recently purchased an hpi savage xs that also uses slipper pads, of which I can't help but suspiciously now glance at following this news...
What happens after the form is filled in? Do you get a shipping label and have to send it off somewhere? does it get reimbursed for what you paid for it at the time of purchase or what they are worth today or will you get a new one sent out, or just loose your car and money? Update video on how a recall like this worked out would be nice to see
They will replace the affected parts in the car and ship it back. If you go to their website it tells you. You don't lose the car or get refunded anything.
@@WellingtonIronman but isnt replacing these parts yourself, hazardous?
@@Mindauxx That`s why they tell you to NOT replace the part yourself, but send in the whole thing, liability reasons ;)
Traxxas is trying to avoided a massive lawsuit, no one should comply with this recall because that will only let them off the hook for implementing diabolical practices!
@@Mindauxxdude did you not read the comment you are responding to? The person your responding to says “they will replace the affected parts and ship it back” so what is the point of asking your question?
I think all rc brands which distribute made-in-china rc models should be checked - FTX comes to mind, quite sure they have a good number of models with slipper clutches.
they are all checked and almost every single time products made in China are perfectly safe. the issues occur when Chinese factories start looking for ways to maintain performance at reduced manufacturing costs. plus it is not up to the Chinese tocomply with other countries laws and legislations,, you have to specify very exactly what you want them to make including all legislation for your country and each country has different rules..
@@gazzap6664 Answering with a narrative i.e. ""products made in China are perfectly safe" doesn't make the asbestos in those slipper clutches go away - smelling like a typical 50 center
Australian customs found asbestos in shipping containers over a year ago . A machine is used to “ sniff “ for asbestos. Those containers were returned and only limited traxxas product was available in Australia since then .
I wonder if this issue was first discovered over a year ago?
Happy new year . Stay safe.
I was watching a UA-cam video a month or so ago and some said that they have asbestos in the slipper clutch
Ik, all the local hobby shops have been complaining
That’s why there is so little stock. I have been telling people about this issue for ages now
You can't "sniff" for it. Only a lab sample will prove if it actually is dangerous.
@WowoodogPlaysYeah now that you mention it I remember 10 years ago walking into toyworld or a toys r us and they would have atleast a couple Traxxas cars to choose from, now I can’t even remember the last place I even seen one on the shelf……..could be something to do with the ever increasing prices or they might not even be making it past customs. Traxxas is looking real dodgy these past few years
I can't wait for the 'boom' guy to go through all his cars!!! lol
It's going to empty out his shop
Kevin Talbot: "BOOM!!!"

Hate to break it to yall but I’m willing to bet that all the other companies use the same materials lol
Eeerrrrr, none of mine are stock, they're so hopped up that there's no way I'd part company with them. That'll probably be the loophole Traxxas are looking for, "not stock, not replacing!".
I'll keep mine.
The loophole is that nobody is going to take the time to send their cars in to get repaired. I’d rather replace it myself if need be than have my rc missing for months.
It IS banned here in the USA. Been banned from sometime in the '80s.
That's not accurate.
In 89 it was "mostly banned" from buildings, dwellings, and automotive.
Not from toys, tools or equipment.
Trump in 17 successfully tried to bring it back with lighter regulations.
Biden-Haris re-finalized the ban in 2024.
Look it up.
Asbestos isn't banned in the US. You're thinking of some products and USES for asbestos (very limited, and most of those didn't happen until into the 90's). What just happened in the US in March 2024 (less than 12 months ago) is the first passing of the "final rule" to prohibit asbestos in almost all future products/uses This is still ongoing and even after phase 2 won't cover 100% of asbestos use. And as a rule, it's still not law.
but it is still permitted. a LOT of vinyl floors contain asbestos but it's encapsulated so it doesn't get released into the air in powered form. I looked at a recent chart and in various forms, anywhere from 2 to 8 percent asbestos content.

Is not like they are living in a house made of it, going to work 10 hours a day in a building made of it, and/or going to classes 10 hours a day made of it, while driving in cars made with it anymore.
The deadly onslaught of massive daily exposure is over with this material.
Wait till they learn about the full size vehicle brakes and they're carcinogenic material filled brake pads that they breathe in every day when they go outside near traffic or while driving.

Glad I've always hated traxxas, so I've never bought one, because they're the typical big corporations that doesn't give a shit about their consumers.
That is a little too easy, since they use parts available on the market, more or less the same others use, too. That is why other manufacturers had the same problem before. It was just not featured that big.
😂😂 Arrma had the same thing dummy
OH NO.!! 🤯 😲
I hope they don't get sued over this.... That would be such a terrible thing to happen to Traxxas, they just don't deserve such an unfair fate.!! 😉
From my understanding the health risk from asbestos is more of a long term exposure type of thing, like if you're working with it for years on end without proper PPE..
There's a good chance a couple of my vehicles are affected by this & I'm not going to worry about it.
I once tore down my grandfather's old garage & wood workshop, they were built entirely from asbestos wriggly sheets & I'm still fi-cough cough blargh.! 😉
People will always say they're ok untill they're not ,lung cancer aint a joke .
@@davekessing2266True, it was over 40 years ago & we didn't know asbestos was dangerous then.
I certainly wouldn't touch it now.! 😉
Dont deserve it ? 🤣 , of cause they do 🤣🤣🤣 .
Not true about needing long term exposure. It only needs 1 single asbestos particle to stick in your lungs to cause mesothelioma. Thankfully, chrysotile is the least bad type of asbestos. But it's use here, in slipper clutches, is as a wearing friction material, means that particles are going to be released constantly during use. And kids using their RC cars probably aren't going to have been doing so wearing appropriate PPE for asbestos (disposable suit and respirator mask). It can take decades for asbestos illnesses to show up, and victims of it have sued successfully fur more obscure exposure than this. Don't want to scare monger among traxxas owners, but there is a chance of getting a terminal asbestos illness from these toys.
Do you know if kits on the shelves now have the upgraded parts?
I'm looking to buy the TRX 4 unassembled kit
Feeling cute. Might send all my traxxas models back to them. LMAO

I don't have any of Traxxas models (I can't stand their profit-only-oriented-business-model) but I've been around this hobby enough to understand that yes, they do have some good models, among other strengths. "Better products for better prices" is something I'd associate with any other manufacturer but them, especially the "prices" aspect. :p
@ that’s what I said traxxas keep HORIZON (aka Arrma, LOSI, Axial etc) on their game. Competition is good. I only have one traxxas and no plans to buy more
@@woodrmp1 oh, ok. I'm not a native English speaker, so there may be something "lost in translation". :)
I think I get your point though; you mean because Traxxas is so strong, it "forces" other manufacturers to offer better products for better prices in order to compete with Traxxas, is that it? I agree.
@ yes you are right. In my mind if Traxxas didn’t exist then Horizon (Arrma/Losi/axial/proboat) would have no incentive to improve their products or have good pricing because they would have no serious competition. Just like any monopoly is not good for consumers.

I had to laff at this, why? We hear about the dangers of asbestos and all that has to be done to dispose of.
A couple of years ago I had a mains water leak. I called the water company and asked about the material the pipes in the street are made from. Guess what , asbestos and cement. The plumbers that handle the pipe have to be protected. So I questioned the dangers because the cement erodes and you get asbestos in the water. They said not a problem, is safe as you are drinking not breathing. I now buy in drums of water for drinking.

Sounds like they are listing part numbers
I wouldn't trust any postal service to carefully transport my expensive RC car, some unknown person to take it apart and repair it and then ship it back to me again and receive it in one piece.
Traxxas seems like they’ve come out with quite a few new models this year… almost as if they’re doing so to grab as much cash as possible to support the recall without going bankrupt!
So what happens you send in your model and traxxas replaces the part(s) only or?
so the US ones dont have asbestos or do they just not care if we have it?
The US doesn’t care if we have it
The latter! Given how litigious the US is, and how serious asbestos exposure is, if you ignore the crazy politics that seems to go alongside regulation and consumer protection (in the US alone), it’s amazing they are not voluntarily recalling the products. They will get sued for sure.
I expect the US ones will have it, but since chrysotile isn't banned there, traxxas don't need to recall. It takes decades after exposure for asbestos illnesses to show up. So likely the management as traxxas are expecting they'll be long retired when this catches up properly. The recall cost is nothing compared to the legal action from terminally ill asbestos victims.

Chrysotyl asbestos has been used very commonly everywhere, especially in roofs. It's the least harful form as well. These roofs are slowly degrading and along with may other sources cause a normal low background concentration of asbestos fibers in the air we breathe every day. But still asbestos cancer is extremely rare other than among those highly exposed as stated correctly above. So stop sowing panic bs. Not quite right. That used to be the case, but nurses and teachers are now among the most common asbestos illness victims because schools and hospitals are full of the stuff.
Happy new year, Phil! 😊
But yeah... Don't use stuff like that in your products, kids. 😬
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I dont think that it would be so dangerous if it took literally 20 years to find that out
Thea have known asbestos was dangerous since the 1930ies
@ but it cant be a high amount of it becouse it has not been reported earlier
@Lare_6000right, you’d have to breathe in like 30 slipper pads completely somehow for this to be an issue at all.
@@HansoleJørgensen only in creation aspects, if they product in question can't break or cause fibers to become airborne, then it poses no danger
But yet, we all have phones near us 24/7. Who is worried about trace amounts of asbestos at this point 😅
Wir Crawler fahrer haben ein Grünen Daumen 😉 und sind umweltbewusst 😂
Oh boy. Wait until the idiots that complained about this find out what's in the brake pads in every single car on the road.
was, they use other materials now to handle the heat.
@muskokamike127 if it's made within north America yes. The majority of pads made overseas in China (which is the majority of the aftermarket) does contain asbestos.
They still use Asbestos brake pads where you live?
Come on Phil cheer me up pal let's have some happy videos to watch in our freetime 👍😎✌️💯🧢🐦
Coming soon... the Year has only just begun :)
Was that a dead cockroach in the bandit?
haha... 'Black Tak' which I use to stick my GPS in them
Once you have submitted your form what is there next course of action? Are they sending out replacement parts to replace in the model ourselves?
Is this why KT recently did a big Traxas "giveaway"?
🤣 probably saw the writing on the wall and decided to clear out anything with TraxxAss on the box.
@@JordanColeman-r8w Saw the EU recall I reckon...
He gives away newer models
Excellent. Love the coming events. That Hilux looks great, its light and gunna be fast. And thanks for the Traxxas info. I think a lot of people will get that info just from you. Good man. 🏎💨
This is so ridiculous. How much asbestos could possible be contained in a slipper or brake pad that literally weighs what, a couple grams? Not much!
Also, asbestos is not a danger until you’ve been exposed to a decent amount of this stuff. I’ve been a plumber working in big city downtown skyscrapers for almost 20 years now, and have worked in areas and rooms literally loaded with tons of this stuff. I know dozens of people that have been working in these conditions FAR longer than me, as well as before OSHA came in and made clean-up a lot stricter. They are ALL fine, including me.
Yes there are special removal procedures in these buildings, but my point is, no one is going to have any problems with such a small amount.
This sounds like a Mesothelioma scare by some liberals that want to leverage some more money out of someone.
The issue came from people mining it and being exposed in large quantities. It's bad, but not as bad as running on the sidewalk in rush hour traffic.
Go in a room laced with asbestos: you might die in 20 yrs
go into a room with a car running and you might last 20 minutes.
Tomley loves to ride the Traxxas hate train…it’s just for views…
You have quite the collection now man. Thought of doing a showcase video? Or if you dont want to take us through them all, do a 'not 2 hour long' version (I'd still love the full tour😁) showing us your favourite 10 or so. 🏎💨
“Trump likes asbestos.” And I’m out ✌🏼🤡
That Trump Derangement Syndrome sounds serious.. Get well soon
Go Phil Go! We ent got snow down here on the South Coast, yet. And I'm nowhere near any dangerous Traxxas toys at the mo, so I can just relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxas!
wonder if you have any Arrma or Axial cars as quite a few of them pre 2022 had Asbestos in them
This is a load of manure. Those pads might carry aspestos fibers but it not nearly enough to injure you. I don't hardly replace them. And I got rid of the fiber slipper pads as soon as they fail and upgrade to aluminum or my new full circle carbon fiber which is also terrible to breath. So guess what. Don't huff your models. This is a little silly to me.
Of course it is overblown. The law is the law though....lol.
These are children's toys so makes sense to be cautious.
It only takes one fiber to cause a sickness if you are unlucky, ofcourse the more fibres the bigger chance but it only takes one
Please tell me what a few asbestos fibres do to your body ,also dont complain and cry at the hospital when the Hammer and reality sets in .
Thanks for the heads up Phil, delivered with respect...now to tell my grown up son his mint stampede as gravedigger will be recalled.
Who still buys Traxxas junk
I have all 3 maxxs and love them all. Far stronger then my arrama notorious. Now I do love my big rock and typhon 3s by arrama .😊
I love it, enjoy your Arrma crap! 😂
Lmao will do goofball
Derschwaffalufagus!
Haven't ALL companies been using the same materials and TRAXXAS is the only one doing a recall?
So what they going to do, replace the part or condem the car, and what about the value part where some are now worth alot
Got a rustler and a 4 tec did you get yours free too demo off traxxas ?
People should already know this same thing with real car breaks and clutches 😅
Greetings from Alberta Canada! Hope you enjoyed your visit.
Wow, I remember running a nitro buggy decades ago that had an asbestos disc brake. Soon as I learnt that it was asbestos I got rid of it immediately. Can't believe Traxxas still use that material.
If you decide to let the cannons go off the back of the 10x10x10 buddy please let me know. They would be awesome for a build I have coming up
