- A friend of mine has lent me his Roland RE-201 Space Echo. I had a lot of fun playing my Roland Jupiter 4 with this iconic tape echo/reverb machine. The tone of the JP4 instantly gets a very unique kind of saturated and beautiful character. Enjoy the music !
OOOOOOH YEAH! Brilliant. A synth and an echo unit is all we need for countless hours of fun!
Absolutely stunning
For me, this is the U.L.T.I.M.A.T.E. combination. It is endless, the space in which one can roam, like an astronaut in a space ship. Truly beautiful that exact from this combination, a plugin now exists. The fact that the different tapes one can put in the RE-201 act like the colour in which you can see this journey. The original RE-201 tape is the most beautiful colour of 'em all. To me at least. The square waves of the Jupiter are so pristine, so round, so full... It shines... It is difficult to comprehend that it is so rough, so thick and fat, and at the same time is able to sound so fragile and delicate. This is, a travel trough space...
I’ve tested the RE-201 with a Korg Poly 61 using a raw square as well. Difference like night and day. The JP4 sounds very unique.
@@Bernd_Bruening True. It has an unique sound.
What a killer combo !
Sounds fantastic
Sound from them each = AMAZING 😍
Fantastic ! thanks a lot !
Awesome
excellent keep up the good work
Thanks a lot!
I absolutely love this setup. Absolutely impossible to own.
The JP4 has already been a part of my collection for 4 years, but together with the Roland space echo it shines even more.
its possible
very very nice ....
Thanks a lot, Sven.
absolute riches
Great combination and wonderful sound. Well made, Bernd! It’s a pity that those Roland echoes are not affordable anymore and need often service.
Thanks a lot, Rüdiger. The prices for the Roland tape echo machines are insanely high.
It doesn't get much better than this, folks! And now...let's stop dreaming and continue sending a Casio CZ-101 through a Boss Micro Rack device again... (or whatever)
:-)
How did you make the white keys sparkling white? Especially in the thumb nail. The jp-4 is in great condition
For the thumbnail I’ve used a super bright filter. Since I haven’t got natural daylight in my studio I’ve used LED spots for the light, which might cause the white keys to look brighter than they are. Yes, despite some minor chip in the wooden sides the JP4 is in great condition. The tuning is perfect as well.
But... But... Is it as good as the new plugin? 😉 Sounds great, Bernd!
This is the ultimate mercury bundle. Admittedly the plugin sounds astonishing well.
@@Bernd_Bruening Yeah, it does and I think I'll pick it up.
@@DavidLee07 It’s the first Jupiter 4 Plugin emulation ever made and for my taste they did a great job. The price is a no brainer.
@@Bernd_Bruening Yeah, it's so good it's making me want to hook up a USB keyboard again in place of physical synths. I haven't plugged one in in a while.
@@DavidLee07 go ahead then, it’s going to give you a lot of pleasure.
How do you have the two connected?
From JP4 mono out straight into the Space echo and then into a mixer.
