I am just getting into decoupage and your videos are most helpful!! It never occurred to me to print on the napkins.🤯 This opens up a whole new craft world for me. Thanks for sharing!!
I love this!! I was searching for thin paper for this very thing. Yippee!! Using the extra ply from the printed napkins is genius. Simple common sense. I find myself saying... "Why didn't I think of that?"
Deidre, this was Amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I came to your video by accident. I then thought wow making a coaster’. Your tutorial on how to make your own designs for your coasters was Amazing. I ended up attempting your steps and was able to make coasters with my favorite Angels baseball players. I’m excited for some upcoming gifts that I’m going to make for my Family 🙏 thanks again for sharing.
This is very helpful!! I was just taking apart some napkins that I bought online, and I always save the extra plies (as a crafter, I know ill find a need for them someday lol). Was wondering how to print my own. Thank you for such a clear tutorial!
Thank you for sharing 😊 I use different method using kitchen paper towels. I spray lightly painting paper with repositioning spray adhesive, apply kitchen towe (2 ply) l and print. After that I remove top printed layer and thats it. Kitchen towel is easier to decoupage- no need to use water or glue on printed towel, just glue applied to base, add picture. No wrinkles at all. Thank you for sharing, your videos are very professional, informative and easy to follow. Thank you 😊
@Our Upcycled Life, thank you so much for this tutorial on how to make custom decoupage napkins! I cannot wait to start making my own to use on my craft projects! You really are a superb teacher at demonstrating and teaching how you you do what you do. I subscribed to your UA-cam channel and look forward to learning more from you. Thank you again!
Thank you so much for this video! It Will save alot of money. Tried it Today and it went great! Got 20 napkins for €0,99....Didn't even care for the print 😅
I am glad I found it. Thank you. My laser jet is a Dell and I have found that it jams a lot with many card stocks, so the tape may be too thick. I’ll give it a try and let you know if it works. 😁
thank you so much for this tutorial... I've been contemplating using the extra sheet of the napkins to make my own... can this process work with rice paper also?
So glad you found my channel hope you find lots of great contact love new crafting friends you only need to apply the hairspray if you’re using an inkjet printer so the ink will not run when you apply the mod podge
This was very cool! Is this the process you used for the decoupage soap? I just love that idea! You could make a personalized bar of soap. Great stocking stuffers! Can't wait to try it!
It seems you can read my mind (at a 5000 miles distance). When I watched a few of your projects about decoupage and napkins, I was wondering if it is somehow possible to make your own napkins with pictures and or text. And, voilá, your UA-cam video has come already with the answer. Thanks for sharing the video.
Have you ever gift bag tissue paper? I printed one of your graphics on tissue paper today. I taped it to a piece of copy paper, it came out really good. Color too. I also bought those same napkins from dollar tree but all white and i was just wondering about the creases so thanks for the video.
Yes I have and it works fantastic. It’s just a bit thicker than the one ply of napkins, so it will depend on what you’re going to put it on if you don’t want to see the edges.
Hi, I was thrilled to see this video. Thank you! Quick question, can you use a krylon clear glaze spray to seal the ink, and if yes, will the edges of the napkin blend down onto the surface of my project like normal decoupage or do I have to cut out straight line edges only? I wasn’t sure if the spray prevents the napkin background from blending in. Thank you in advance.
I use a glue stick along the top of my copy paper and attach the tissue by lining up and lightly rubbing across the top. It works perfectly with my Brother inkjet printer but will not work on my Cannon inkjet printer unless I put the glue stick on all 4 sides. This might help someone, also. Thank you for your suggestion.
I'm wondering if you've ever used freezer paper to iron on to the napkin, cut to size, and run through your printer? I remember many years ago doing something crafty...can't remember what, lol...and running freezer paper through the printer. It worked. I don't know how difficult it would be to peel the napkin from the freezer paper, though.
Thanks for what you do. I love your content. I am looking for a video on printing on rice paper for decoupage. I don't remember if it was one you did, or someone else. Does that ring a bell? Thank you
I have printed 2 napkins, worked ok...only once did it get stuck but the graphic was streaked. One question I have though... say I am transferring it to a coaster and the buyer wants to be able to wipe it down with a damp cloth in the future. Is that was polyacrylic is for? Will it help it be more water proof?
Are you using a laser printer I am only able to use an inkjet printer so what kind of spray you said to use to cover the napkin after it's been printed
Hello! I love your videos but I have to ask this question but are these just regular dinner napkins you purchase at the dollar store? Plus they stay in tact through the printer? Thanks for your reply.
Im a newbie decoupager. My question is when doing the iron on method how do you get the 2 dotted borders of the napkin to not show during ironing. It goes away if I do the saran wrap but not the iron on method.
Curious. What paper setting do you use? Also, have you tried the new mod podge spray to seal if you use an inkjet printer? I LOVE your videos, and I know that I will get my projects right if the instructions are coming from you. :-) Thank you.
Thanks for watching ❤️ hope you find lots of great content 🌸 I just use the normal setting on my printer. I use my laser jet printer so don’t have to seal my ink so haven’t used that product but would probably work perfect on a ink jet print
@@OurUpcycledLife Welcome. Not just great content but VALUABLE content. :-) I will try the Mod Podge spray just in case. I don't have a laser printer (sad). If using an inkjet, the ink may run if you’re going to decoupage it so I would seal it up with some hairspray before you deposit on your project. If you only have a inkjet, you won’t need to if you’re using a laser printer.
With my ink jet printer, the black does fine - but when there's color such as red, purple or bright colors, they run when you decoupage them, hair spray is not working, any help? Also, when you put a photo on wood with decoupage, do the colors run there also with ink jet printed picture?
If it’s parchment paper either side is fine and when printing on tissue paper I usually only buy paper that isn’t shiny so you will just have to print and see what you like best ❤️

if you use an ink jet printer will the colours run when you put the glue on or is the hairspray enough to seal it? thankyou
Every inkjet printer is different so you’ll just have to experiment usually hairspray is enough to seal it
wowwww....
Great technique!
Question, why do you use napkins? I decoupage paper directly. Is it so it doesn't have as distinct of an edge?
Yes exactly 🌿 it blends really well into project ♥️Thanks for watching
Can a wrinkled napkin page be stained using your coffee or tea method if it is done without a lot of liquid?
Thanks for watching ❤️ hmmm I have never done that but now you have me curious... I’m gonna try it!!!!
If using an Inkjet printer do you seal with hairspray as soon as the graphic comes out of the printer?
Yes as soon as it comes out of the printer spray it with hairspray let it dry and then you can decoupage with it
Are you using a laser printer
I am only able to use an inkjet printer so what kind of spray you said to use to cover the napkin after it's been printed
Yes using a laser jet but will work with ink jet! Just give it a spritz of hairspray after printing to seal so ink wont run when applying.

How do you keep the ink from running when you apply them onto something? The oven and hairspray?
Yes, exactly! Some will run and some wont so just do a test first before you start a project.
