    Proof positive that tears are no weakness.. they're the source of strength.

    • @bafflezbiz
      @bafflezbiz 2 роки тому +38

      Yes, anyone who thinks of tears as a weakness is still but a child, holding on to bitter memories of a bruised knee while the other children point and laugh.
      The tears of an adult, however, require great courage- as one reveals what is most vulnerable in the face of fear and judgement. No easy feat; and _indeed_ a symbol of great strength.

      Men who can cry are less likely getting a heart attack; true fact! That's why women have less heart attacks, because women cry more. Men, please cry, it is healthy. Tears of saddness and tears of joy, both!

    • @Here4TheMusic765

      Tears aren't weakness but sometimes I think people just want to get through to the other side without breaking down. Once those tears start, its hard to cut off the faucet. I didnt cry at my mother's funeral because I needed to make sure my mommy was squared away in her resting place. A woman told me that it would be time for tears later but you have to take care of business 1st. I took that to heart but I wasn't prepared for the 20 years of the "later" and STILL shedding tears. A mother is a heavy hitter to the heart and no matter what, losing her will always be an unmatched pain that exists to this day. Prayers to the Washington family. So many people definitely feel this pain. Prayers to all who have lost a loved one.

      Lost my mom near ten years ago, she was 65, was with her as she passed, I was 32. Lost my dad when he was 50, and I was 5. The older I get the more I realize how young they were when cancer got them. Dad never got to see his kids grow up. Mom only got to see a 1 or 2 of her grandchildren. The pain of loss gets easier to deal with over time, but it never, ever goes away.

      I reached for my 'Puffs' box also. My Mother passed away in 2008; holidays, birthdays, family reunions, etc. have never been the same. Yeah, I know life must go on; and it has. But the truth is I just try to deal with the pain of her loss, day to day and year to year. The pain *never* goes away but the memories of the many beautiful, lovely days I had with her make it a little easier to deal with. The real truth is you never get over it; you just learn to deal with it from day to day.

    Never before have I've been able to laugh and cry with an actor on stage on a talk show. Part of the reason that Denzel was finally able to cry about his mother's passing was that Colbert has gone through the same thing and completely understands and enables people like himself to show how they truly feel. Respective for Denzel and his legendary career and skills and also Colbert's compassion.

    Stephen was really making some breakthroughs in this interview. I feel like it was weirdly cathartic for Mr. Washington, too. Would have been interesting to see where they could have gone with another 5-7 minutes.
