My favourite strategy of the new AI is the strategic sheep patrol. And I loll'd so hard when the frank AI stone walled his own lumberjacks. Whatever AI lacks in finer logic, it more than surpasses with multi-tasking and macro-management.
someone should make a map as a 4v4, with a player on each side in a big fortress but with no way to build units or get eco, and 3 AIs each which the players have to direct against each other
I tested 6 vs 2 extensively with the HD AI and they always beat the original CD AI on pure land maps. It's different with water though where they tend to lose sometimes. The HD AI does especially well with ranged units, because they just send units into the general direction of the enemy and the range helps attacking actual targets.
dad got me on original aoe almost 15 years ago, havent touched it for almost 10 years. Watching one of your videos got me to get definitive. Great vids man.
The handling of walls by both old and new AI is weird. The old AI never linked their walls together - they'd leave all kinds of awkward no-man's lands between their allies. The new AI still gets super hung up about encountering walls. It sometimes seems to mass archers against a fortified wall... that they can just walk around.
8:05 There was a Scot having fun with her sister behind the tree, and she was awaiting her time. Now I understand the importance of walling the edge of the map. * _The things that come from the dark void_ *
I feel like if the Franks had actually shown up the old AI may have stood a chance, those early eagles looked pretty dicey for a second but without any support they couldn't keep the pressure on
@@MrMaro1995 That's the point. The Frankish civ didn't throw any units out until well after everyone else was depleted. The old AI were all allied, so Tiger was saying that some support from the Franks would have let the Aztec Eagles Warriors keep up the pressure.

22:36 huh?! how the heck was the cavalry at the right gate being able to get through? O.o btw. the old a.i. rarely slings. in fact, when they die they just give all their ressources to the next teamplayer.
Watched the 1v7 now this. I think it would be amazing with one where you did a 1v7 and 2v6 but where all the ai was the same exact nations/factions so that we can really see the difference in the ai. That way they have the same units stats and available buildings+ bonuses. What do you guys think? :)
I done this myself with a ludicrous map. The battle raged on for ages as they all advanced to imperial age and all had relatively large armies. I'll try and get some time to replay it and upload it :)
I seem to remember having an easy time with the AI in my first campaign in HD against the Huns. Until I got to mission 4... the first mission where the AI gets to go imperial. At which point, the AI started churning out wave after wave of paladins and crossbows. The HD AIs and later seem to get particularly vicious once they hit Imperial Age.
If it's the 4th mission on the Attila campaign, it's because the Franks in that mission use Chivalry, a tech which increases their stable output by 40%. Means they can churn out Paladins at will. Ridiculous.
If the new AI is very aggressive with its scout, does it mean the AI scouting is aggressive or the top ELO players' scouting is aggressive? As well as going under the TC too much.
In the future AI will be unbeatable. Imagine being able to micromanage infantry, arches, cavalry and siege at the same time,, where the humans players are focusing on one army.
