- Me vs The universe. I actually didn't believe it at first but this is the hardest mission in the game by far. Mission 41 and 48 are kinda annoying but they're not as hard as this one imo. So anyway about the strategy:
The main thing here is the tower placement and the moat, you can buy 15 crossbows and leathers and put them on top of your tower + 2 balistas just in case they get a catapult up. Use the lord to take care of any slave run by or the pikemen who managed to survive the crossbow shots (You don't want them to get to your tower or important buildings) Once you get to a high number of crossbowmen (60 or 70) Then it becomes a waiting game and this is where the mission becomes boring, lol.
You can speed it up by making a tower near mines, note that this is where Nizar rallies his assassins before attacking your castle so proceed with caution.
The only thing left to say is Wolf's castle, As you can see it took me a while to take it down because of the constant attacks being sent out by the other players (And also I lost a game because I rushed it so that's why I'm extra scared here lol) Once you get on top of his walls with a siege tower the game is basically over because you can kill both Wazir and Richard using Wolf's castle to your advantage.

Can you take iron and land for farming? Game not hard but you make it harder than.
I did take the farmland but yeah you can place moat right beneath the iron pit and use it
@@Jefflenious I still remember an extremely cheesy way to win any battle VS AI. Just put an Ox thether in front of their gates only when castle is completely surrounded. Enemy can't destroy it and AI kills all of its infrastructure ASAP can't get troops out and starve to death in minutes

@Nasreddin Kahveci Calm down brother, it's on max speed and I just came up with some random strategy as I was playing, calling this "novice" play while most people can't beat this mission unless they cheese it or play the whole mission on 20 speed.

That single farm brought down 6 enemy economies to their knees. Tbh I made 5 farmer with the pause bug so that I would always have enough wheat. I mean, like i only have enough green to place one single farm and nothing else, i think it was still fair to use it

It truly is the hardest mission. I struggled for 3 hours but eventually made it in the end with macemen and horse archers after making enough money from producing crossbows and leather armor. The mission lasted for 100 years lmao.

Dude it took me ~15 hours, I didn't know so much stuff that would've been useful lol. Managed to get my economy through stone and iron, and bought all food, didn't use any crossbowmen all game. Attacked with horse archers + shields + ballistas
i always play with horse archers and macemen..
does anybody finish this using assassins? i think it's easier without the need to destroy the wall

I have played this game for years, but never come up with the idea of using towers to get the crossbowmen over the enemy walls then shoot the f*ck out of the surroundings. Very clever tactics, very good play sir :D .
Haha yeah siege towers were my favorite siege units in the game and I really wanted to make them work so here's one way to do it
that's how I beat the final mission of the original stronghold :)
I used to play this game 17 years ago with a toster laptop, gifted in the school for studying. Now I play the same game with my RTX 4090 and 48-inch Samsung odisey monitor. I could've played literally any game now, absolutely no regrets ❤️ loving this masterpiece !

For casual player, I recommend to make the game as slow as possible at early game if you overwhelmed with the surroundings. You can turn it up later after you ready or temporarily fasten your worker.
The easiest way is closing the enemy's gates use wood cutter while you build yout castle, and attact them one by one when you are ready. Hahahah

That's exactly what my older brother did when he played Stronghold. He always put ox tethers on their castle gates and then made the tethers vacant. They couldn't exit the castle..
I think the best way to attack wolf is baiting his fire pits with slaves or spearmen as cannon fodder while they have some cover fire by archers and shields. tunnelers to break first wall, then a seige tower to get your crossbowmen and shields on one of his towers while sending assassins over wall to destroy his barrack. He's the most fun to attack. Second most fun to attack would be caliph.
Tbh after you kill caliph and nizar, you can gather resources without much trouble, after that its over, you can steamroll all of them with 30 catapult+ horse archers+ assassins combo.
No pause means no multiple workers. Damn, youre the greatest lord. I play this using multiple worker trick, and i never heard 'not enough goods' or 'not enough gold'. Only, 'you are the greatest lord'

so you cheat. might as well use the cheat for gold, same thing

@@jeremiasnater4288hit pause then sleep and unsleep a workplace then hit unpause and it will send more workers without canceling the old ones, essentially doubling your output
I find that buying wood, crafting crossbows and then selling them seems to be the most lucrative exchange. Excellently handled the mission though
it seems like the only way how to accomplish this mission. They are no other sources except for taxes. The iron is also almost impossible to reach at least at the beginning
With proper placement you can also support about 30-40 people with 1 wheat farn

It is the best way for sure. Here is the maths :D One work cycle of crossbow uses 3 wood. Without fear factor, each crossbow workshop produces 1,5 crossbow in 1 cycle, which is divided to 1-2-1-2-1-2 pattern. 1 crossbow can be sold for 30 gold. 5 wood cost 20 gold. So from 3 wood, which is 12 gold, you basically make 1,5 crossbows, which is 45 gold. Here is the bigger maths :D From 100 wood, which is 400 gold, you make 50 crossbows, which you sell for 1 500 gold.

How I did this back in the day was, make an army of macemen with all the gold you have in start of the map and kill the nearest one (Caliph it was I think), It took 3-4 attempts lol, but once I killed, got a lot of gold from him and then it was a bit easy
i think now if you kill anyone you'll just get 500 not what they have
@@hamed-es3wz From what I've seen you get thousands of gold if you kill a rich enemy at the start of the game. But later on in the game (especially when the enemy lord has no money anyway) 500 becomes the standard amount you receive when killing an enemy lord.

Took me 5 bloody hours to finish it, reason for it is that I forced it with Horse Archers... but using Macemen and Knights was actually a lot easier. Although there was almost no space for stables XD
You get plenty of space after defeating Caliph and Nizar (Unless you can't place stables away from your castle not sure if you can)

This was the best game I knew as a child, even though I didn't understand shit or english yet
Just finished this mission,taking 3 hours to complete and i need 2 level restart, actually the most fun level for me, you can actually just wait until their economies is ruined (except wolf, for some reason he still have 40k gold while other lords barely have 2k gold) and then raid with horse archers/catapults, they are really slow to recover their defenses, and then just rush through their weakened defenses with maceman/assassins
it's always have been bro, even in the 1v1 against wolf, he always have 40k money but never spend it. no wonder he didn't win i guess...

There´s another way, make then a pass throug a labering of walls with fire men and crossbow on top, they pass like a tower defense game and all die.

I think it is, some people have tried that. In general though tax income on low population is too underwhelming so I didn't bother.

I have bit different tactics, i use water protection and able to get stone stations 2x which basically double speed of this mission :D love this game for year, i come back to this game from time to time to complete missions, completed thsi game like at least 20 times
It may be the hardest level but to me it was the most enjoyable 👍
I grew up playing age of empires, then this game came out and was very well made. I think age of empires tho definitely wins. They really need to fix the online play, My brother and I have been trying to get that to work for awhile with no luck.
That build with the open "snake" formed wall is a very clever idea I will have to steal it ;-)

In my opinion going no food and only beer would be more efficient. At least that is what I have done in this mission. Build gardens to be able to get some nice taxes and additional damage for long range soldiers
Some have suggested that, I haven't done it yet so I'm not sure, gardens make sense though since you have 0 production anyway
@@Jefflenious It is also possible to extend down the small path and get 2 quarrys. defend with the smallest tower stacked with archers etc. and just infront of it a moat

You did it pretty fast. I awlays take so long to finish this mission, since i always procast to deal with wolf and his anoying castle. So i defeat them in the following order: nizar, caliph, emir, Richard, wolf, wazir
to screw the wolf's economy you also can make 2 or 3 trebuchets, build a wall in front to protect them from the balists and also keep breaking his 2 laterals towers. A mangonel targeting at wazir's castle is also great to made him stop attacking you pretty eartly
I gotta ask, is the bread based economy really the best way to accumulate gold ? I've seen multiple people do it and i found out selling ale is much more profitable. I guess if you're this pressed and only have space enough for one wheat farm.

Cheesing the quarry area is the best way for sure but apart from that I think popularity buildings with taxes are better in general, also the farm land can be used for cows and leather production that's also better

I consider myself to be pretty good at stronghold crusader, having played and beaten the campaign and all the scenarios in the first game, ive just never tried the trail, im on mission like, 16 right now. Cant wait to get to this one, looks like fun.
Hi, good play, just one question, why buy wheat at 115 when bread costs 40 to buy? Would it be better to sell crossbows and just buy the food?
Just worked it out, 1 wheat = 8 bread. So it is more cost effective, nice thinking, never thought of that!
Yeah that's why I did it but I'm pretty sure there are better solutions for gold in this mission

But in this video I was buying wheat and selling bread which gave me a tiny bit of gold income, I wouldn't recommend doing it since going for popularity and getting taxes is probably better

Great video and absolutely awesome game, not sure if you do this now or if someone said already. But what I use todo with the horse archers is save up about 100 of them and you set them to run on a patrol route in front of a castle very very affective.
