Melody sits!

Melody is a 7-month-old (born around June) Heinz 57, which means she might have all sorts of breeds mixed in her. At 35 pounds now, she may weigh more than 50 lbs when full-grown. Our resident breed expert sees some possible Australian Shepherd and Rottie, but we make no guarantees. Melody was purchased from a rural flea market and then surrendered to a shelter when the family had second thoughts about getting a puppy. She’s safe in an IDR+ foster home, and her foster mom says she might have some mountain goat in her--she likes to hop up on tables and furniture. Melody is full of fun energy and loves to play with both humans and other dogs. She lives with two kiddos and can be placed with them. She will require a fenced yard (no e-fence) if there are kids in the home. She loves to dig through the dog toy bin and carry squeak toys around the house. She is a puppy and still chews, but she is easily corrected when she gets into items she's not supposed to. She ignores the cat and plays well with other dogs of equal energy to her. She loves to chew on dog bones, but she should be given them under supervision if around other dogs since she does not like to share. Since Melody is a puppy, she will require an obedience commitment to teach her manners and ensure her success. She does come when called, can sit, and is working on leave it. She has been doing a great job with potty training and has been letting us know when she needs to go out by standing at the back door. She is working on crate training and will sleep in her crate through the night. This girl loves to snuggle and is hoping to snuggle her way into her forever home.
