@@DMS3TV Thanks for the original review man. I would like your and Josh's opinion on Yamaha HPH-MT5.
A comparison video between Audio Technica M40X, AKG K361, Creative Aurvana Live, Yamaha HPH-MT5, Sennheiser HD280 pro, Shure SRH440 & 840 and any other around 100 dollars closed back would be welcome too. Please dont ask me to send these to you :)
This is the coment that I was looking for... haha
Can we have the akg 845
Coolermaster mh751 or akg k361(2x price)?? Need to know
more lower-budget headphone-reviews please!
JV! Awesome review. I haven’t unboxed the ones I have yet but now I’m excited to put them on my brain housing unit
Could you do a closed back(s) recommendation list ? Since, some of us are starting to go back to office.
Yeah that’d be sick. You might open that conversation up to IEMs as well, basically anything that doesn’t leak sound. I just got some IE300s for that exact purpose, and love them so far. They hold up well against my previous closed back fav (Sony Z1)
Yes pleaseee
What are you looking for in closed back or IEMs? I would recommend the dt770s for closed back and RHA T20 for IEMs. They sound great in many types of music and won’t break the bank.
@@jpr96 dt770s 250 ohm are the good variant :)
senn hd280
Thank you for the recommendation. I'd been on the fence between the Audeze Classics and some others. These showed up today and with my ifi DAC, sound very nice for what I listen to. Thank you from Northern Italy.
Very detailed video i have to admit, no background music while speaking but your Audio editing skills really shine there.
Hey Josh, love your reviews! Bought the Hifiman HE400Se after seeing your review and love them! I'm running the Schiit Magni and Modi. The AKG K361s are my only other wired headphones (besides an old pair of Sony MDR-V6 cans) and I was a bit shocked at how dark and muffled they sounded out of the box. In your experience do they need some burn-in time?
Nice review, JV. The SHP9500 are about $62 on Amzn.........got a pair last week, and they are killer!
I wish they would review the K275. Some people say it sounds good, some say it sounds bad. All I am sure about is that it is cheap, comfortable, and built very well. It seems everyone ignores them.
@josh Hey thanks for this review. I got it based on your recommendation from the
Local guitar center . Wow! So pure!
FYI - 1more triple driver is no longer in production how about replacing it on your top 3 close backs
I think the sennheiser HD280 pro Are these Guys biggest competitor and very well established in the space of closed back monitoring headphones. I think a comparison would be really great, especially since the hd280 are really tough, while the agks apparently had some qc issues, that might have been fixed, but could still turn concerned buyers away and towards the hd280s
@Blue ok...? ^^
@@TheHypeComfor just work the 280pros are better
K361 is a brilliant Headphone. Had it for so long, used it every day. Wore out the pads, replaced them. Lovely Headphone.
Which pads did you choose? Looking forward to change them as well
@@1narutogrand Sorry for the late reply, I changed with the original pads only. You can buy them from Harman Professional.
@@indranilmitra6535 Can you give us a link to them? Thanks.
@@DGardn100 there is no link as such. You just match the part number (which you can find in the manual) and contact the customer service. They might even give it to you for free. They did give for free to me.
@@indranilmitra6535 I see. That's good to know, thank you.
Nice one. I like the AKG brand a lot. Please test more headphones from AKG.
Best wishes
I've been using this for about a year (bought at launch). Got it for the Indian introductory price of INR 5300 (around $75), and couldn't complain about anything. The issue I've been having is that the clamp is so loose that most of the weight gets concentrated at the middle of the headband- which has been causing me hair loss over the past few months. This isn't something I've faced in any other pair I've used (ATH M series, Razer Kraken) and I think I should bring it to people's attention.
Bro which website you bought from?
I just got a K712 Pro from AKG for myself, loving them too!! I will try to get these too for casual listening fun haha. Awesome video from you like always!!
How is the bass on the K712? I hope not “lean” as the reviewers like to say. Have you heard the K812?
@@arrakian They are not bassy headphones if that's what you're looking for. They have no sub bass. They take EQ _decently_ though. _Awesome_ soundstage and still the most comfortable headphones i know. Wouldn't necessarily buy for music exclusively, but they are still probably the best gaming headphones, especially since the price only keeps coming down these days.
@@arrakian I agree with @saltyMaud's comment. The K712 Pro are not bassy kind. What they do best is a huge soundstage, vocals sound pretty crisp and detailed. Also I got them as I got a good deal from a friend so haha.
@@arrakian And sorry I never got the chance to hear the K812.
@@SaltyMaud I have the K371 and was wondering if AKG had another headphone along the same lines, but with a higher resolution.
Thank you for making them out of stock again. I've been waiting months lol
Love your merch, man!
I’ve been using the AKG K755 Pro which I got from Drop a few years back, and I don’t know how they compare with the K361 but they definitely need a good DAC to drive properly. One rhythm game I play which suffers greatly in terms of the low end, Thumper is a prime example because the bass never seems to come through the headphones properly even though the K755 should easily be able to handle that low end. I don’t have that issue with music I listen to or any other games with bassy soundtracks on my PC oddly enough.
I'm interested to see how the Takstar Pro 82 (or Cooler Master MH751, it's basically the same) compares to the AKG K361. I have one and feel like it compares closely to your description of the AKG headphone, besides the bass response which is a little bit rolled off in the sub bass and female vocals play nicely instead.
It's better. I have pro 82 and 361, and the difference is quite big.
Tho if you already own pro 82 it doesn't twice better or anything, maybe 20-30% better.
But if this is your first buy then 361 wins over pro 82.
Unless you EQ the Pro 82's gigantic 4kHz hole it sounds very off tonally, hollow and shouty without the presence/bite; and you might still need to lower 2kHz by 3 to 6dB to remove the shout. The 2.2m cable version (aka "silver" or "v1") also has intolerable treble spikes at 7 and 9.5kHz which make it sound metallic. The sub-bass on the Pro 82 is also lacking while the 120Hz area is raised, which makes the bass sound fat. In short it requires very detailed EQ. But for comfort, I doubt many things out there can beat it. The build is also much better on the headphones themselves, but the headphone-side cable connector breaks after a year or two due to the strain relief not being melted with the cable. The AKGs commonly snap at the height adjustment ring, which is almost certainly engineered in to make you buy a new pair.
Thanks for the vid bruv, it was helpfull
excellent review jesh value!
_jesh value_ lmfao
I am watching this video from AKG K361 and I'm very happy with it :)
Bought the SHP 9600 for and it arrives Friday, never had a pair of open back of headphones before
Im getting one tmr is it good or what
Going to get one of these for the office. Was thinking Elegia but the AKG is more low key.
The hair is looking good man
I finally got mine Josh . I love them
Thanks for the review man. I would like your and DMS' opinion on Yamaha HPH-MT5.
Would love to see this vs the K371.
I would love it if you touched on imaging/gaming performance. I need a good closed back for gaming and it seems like the dt770 is the most recommended.
But u cant remove cable its a shame possible only in higher models lik 1990
I just got the K371 and it's incredible for the price I paid. It goes toe to toe with my 58x + oratory's1990 EQ while the K371 doesn't need any EQ and the 371's bass is better(obviously since it's closed back) while the 58x does have more detail. I also own the DT-770 80ohms and IMO the K371 is better sounding unless I have my DT-770's EQ'd and driven hard via amp. Basically, if you want a headphone that sounds damn good out the box with little to no power I think this is it. You've got to make a video comparing the K361 vs K371.
Well said. I'm also a sucker for the harman target.
After eq dt 770 is better than k371? I need a closed back under $200 what do u suggest? i personly dont like k361-371 because of their built , i dont know what to buy. i will probably ned up buying m50x :.
There has been a lot of reviews saying the k371 is trash what do you say
@@ashwinskrishna5977 I haven't personally compared the k361's vs my k371's but from everything I've read the k371's have a slight bump in bass which I like because I listen to a lot of House, Techno, Downtempo, Drum and Bass with mine.
@@egegulkaya2525 DT770 served me well for 2 years but they have just broken (today) and I'm a bit disappointed. I upgraded the earcups and it made a HUGE difference and I was finally really loving them after running stock cups for most of this time of ownership. The cable is what finally broke and the left cup is dead.
For $99, this thing, and the Starfield
True true starfield is amazing
Hey Metal, I already have the k361 and I really like it's bass response. Even though the Starfield are a totally different type of headphone, what would you comment regarding the bass presence on K361 vs Starfield?
I'm asking you because I'm not sure on pulling the trigger on the Starfield just yet
Very immersive. Those, shure 440, and rockville m50 are my favs. Could use a hair more treble.
I love the comfort of these headphones, and I think the build quality for being so light is actually pretty good, but I'm not really seeing the quality of the sound everyone else seems to. They sound decent to me, but I usually prefer the sound from my other headphones. I was thinking about selling them even though I've only used them a handful of times, but I keep thinking based on the reviews, I must be missing something. Do they excel with a certain type of music?
I have the K371's and I like them for the price. Pretty anything can drive them and they sound quite good to me. Only thing I really don't like is how far down the plug extends. I wish I could find one with a 90 degree angle. I am very small it rubs on my shoulder and I can hear it when I move my head or something.
Hey, **3:54 timbre is pronounced “tam-brr”. Awesome video. I’ve been thinking of getting the k371 for a while
No timbre at 3:45
When I got these the version that included Bluetooth was the same as without and it still comes with the cables so I got just use them everywhere XD these are great.
Could you please review the Beyerdynamic DT 990. I just got a pair and I'd like to hear your opinion.
The Samson sr950 is also an insane headphone imo, would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Sr850 and sr950 is definitely a bang for your bucks
Bought my friend the Bluetooth version. Sound is exactly like you described when plugged in 3.5mm, and you can use Bluetooth to calls or hear in SBC if you don't mind it (I noticed, but for her is usually fine). I can really recommend it, it's a great headphone for the price. (The BT one can be found around 100 in some sales, that's the price to go!)
Thumbnails are MKBHD feelin’
Real nice here, man 😎
a focal stellia and the new focal celeste review would be great. you had all focals but the stellia and celeste i think its time to finish the list
Tried these. They aren't bad...at all, but i maintain the "IEMs> any closed back under 150€" mantra. I'd get these only if you absolutely need overear (don't really know why you would, but ...), otherwise in this price bracket, go for a pair of open backs (as your mains), and a pair of IEMs (when you need isolation/ portability).
i got these headphones, and as soon as I hit play I found myself looking for the EQ of my music player. After tweaking the eq I found that to get a more pleasing listening I had to boost lows a bit, and lower trebble. Not only that but also the need to make light adjustments in the eq depending on what I was listening to.
I think they are very clear, you can hear every sound in the mix but at the cost of being fatiguing if you just want to listen to music as "background".
Besides, my ears touch the inner lateral sides of the foam pad, I don+t know if I would get accostumed to that but at the moment it is annoyng.
I ended up getting Sennheiser HD 599, bassier than K361 , warmer, less clear maybe but allaround more pleasing. And my ears have a better fit in the larger earpads. I prefered a closed back headphone but I think I will keep the HD599 and return the k361.
361 have a big treble spike at around 8khz that must be eq'd down by about 35% in order to fix the hollow bass+mids problem
Joshua, please advise me on how to protect myself from hearing loss while listening to headphones or IEMs.
Loved this headphone!.... with my glasses off. Super props because it is an amazing set, but requires a good seal that my thin framed glasses don't allow. Still anyone would be happy with it.
if you thinking to test takstar pro 82,get coolermaster mh751 its based on second version of pro 82 or aliexpress from takstaraudio store you get v2.Every other one seems to get first version which is overlybright dont do same mistake as oluv's gadget getting first version twice from amazon. Also shure shr440 or creative aurvana se are good alternatives to k361.
I got the K7 off amazon originally for my Sennheiser 650 HD's but needed a closed back headphone and these were it. And remembering getting the AKG 361 headphones first, i used the stock sound amp off my asus motherboard and they werent that great. But with a dac.....a monster is unleashed. The AKG's were the replacement for my m40x's which popped a hinge which they are known for with poor build quality. But these, no headband snap and with a DAC it has amazing sound for the price and it has bass!
I had akg k92 and i loved it. But sadly when i used on my music keyboard the right side got no sound... so i spent 1 year and half waiting to buy another. I have the sony 310ap and i love the durability of it but the sound is low on maximun and i can't hear all on videos with low sound...
Thanks for the review. I want this one for gaming and music,i love draw and listen music and i love hear flac ones
I had akg k414p when my k92 broken and it had no bass, man when i got the sony 310ap i felt different after 1 year with k414p... now i need bass but i dont want the big bass ones.. thats why im here.. i have the new xbox wireless on my list but it has high bass and i dont like because high bass block the high, mid and low sounds and i hate this situation
Josh, you should review the Koss Pro4S. Metal cups, highly rated sound, $100.
Been seeing these get hyped a lot lately. I wonder how these compare to the K550/K553
can you try the AKG K245s? They get some really good closed-back sounding bass, yet are open back so they don't sacrifice on the highs
Nearly took the plunge ordering these a while back, after watching Zeos' and DMS' reviews. Then I found that some other reviewers preferred the K371 over it. Many also seem to prefer the DT770 80 ohm over both of them, so I found myself back at square one. The attached cable and circular earpads of the Beyers bother me, though (big ears).
I like the K371s way better. Returned the 770s.
I mean, the DT770 Pro are better but literally cost twice as much as the K361. There's no comparison to be made here.
Awesome vid.
question!: would these replace your starfields rec for the $200-300 audiophile build? 🤔
What about compared to the Taskar Pro 82 , my personal choice , one of the (few) close backs that I have?
How would you compare these to the Audio Technica ATH-M40x at the same price? Flat response preferred, detail preferred, primary use case is listening to music, secondary is YT video production (non-professional).
Your voice is so rich! What mic do you use?
How do the sound of these compare to AirPod Pros? Would these be worth picking up if I already own the AirPods?
Hey! I thought of getting a pair of Audio technica m30Xs for my music monitoring and mixing but this video got me confused. Should I go for these over m30Xs ? Are these better than m30Xs ?
Wanna ask which is worth it?
Akg k361 or cooler master mh751(half the price of akg)
I have Dr Appointments and Hospital where only Closed Back or IEM can be played Thanks great informative review
I'm wondering how are takstar pro 82 compared to these
So the pads are removable in case they get worn out? I tend to sweat a little and being able to replace the ear pads at some point is a huge selling point for me.
Should I buy this over sennheiser 458bt?
When is the Focal Clear MG (nonpro) review coming??
just got the K-371 for $40 more - great cans!
To listen to music , podcast , movies.......to enjoy the sound and not so much "analyze" the sound, which headphone is better and how much considering difference in price:
AKG K361 (wired) vs Sennheiser HD560s or Sennheiser HD599 ( I know the Sennheisers are slightly different but for MY needs I will suppose they are kind of the same in terms of quality of sound) . Thanks to whoever can help me out answering my question. Thank to @Joshua Valour for your content.
hi Joshua, question.
have you ever tried the new versions of mp3 players such as Sony. Nw-A105?
couldnt find any good reviews on them or something simmilar.
is it even worth to have a seperate player in 2021.
they have features like ldac which I dont even know what they are..
rocking old ath pro700mk2, shame audio technica didnt release any successor to those headphones and stopped making them, still didnt find replacement for them
would you recommend this over audio Technica m40x or philips 9500
I am actually quite happy with my Sennheiser HD25. Would anyone know how these compare to the k361?
Love AKG I have K52 on my Rodecaster and 💯💪🏾❤️
I’ve just been recommended the AKG N700ncm2 (if I got that right) over these by DMS. What do you think? Was looking at Bluetooth specifically.
The Cooler Master mh751 is in the 100 dollars price range and it's zeos's favourite closed under 200 uss. I'd like to know how they do compare.
nice headphones... but what about that tkl keyboard O:? what is it?
Could you review the HD25 please ? I'd love to know what you have say about these
How good are these for gaming?
In my country, K361 and K71 are priced the same at $170, did you recommend any of them for that price or did you have different closed-back headphone recommendations?
Good video. K361 does indeed sound good but have you ever tried the Takstar Pro 82's? Not the MH751 but the original pro 82. I think it's maybe the best sounding at this price range. It's about $60 from aliexpress. It's very source-dependent though but I hear the apple dongle sounds great with it so maybe give it a try.
I have it. It’s meh. I’d save up for a K361 but it’s built really well and very comfortable so it’s decent.
@@dannybos7024 what'd you run it from? Like i said it's very source-dependent.
@@stalinshishkebab The Takstar Pro 82 is fine with an Apple dongle. The K361 as well.
I'm looking for some headphones around this price range maybe up to $150 us dollars, I've been thinking about these, ath mx40 or the sivga so21 What would you recommend?
So would these headphones benefit from a a dac/amp?
what about something portable for use with a smartphone like one of those Dragonfly things?
Would you choose k361 or 1 more triple h1707 or dt770 80ohm (Disregard price)
I got these to see if they will replace my m50x, they sound the same. Stock pads for me were just a bit shallow and created a pressure point on the tips of my ears, ended up using the deeper pads I bought for the m50x. Not bad, but no reason to keep them.
So are they or the ath50x better and can you please explain the difference thanks
Review koss kph30i, those are frickin fantastic
Do you have any experience with the K361-BT?
I used to own the K371 but returned them because quality assurance shenanigans, as it was back when the two came out x)
Then recently got the K361 BT but anecdotally they seem to kinda fall behind the K371 I used to have in technical aspects of the sound, and watching your review here made me think that maybe the BT tech in my copy makes it inferior to the regular K361 in sound?
Could just be my impression but would be interesting to see a direct comparison between K361 and K361-BT (I'm ofc speaking of the pair's wired performance, sure I wouldnt't expect anything of SBC haha)
this something that i wonder as well
Josh, how do they compare to the Drop + Koss GMR-54X-ISO?
I have the 1More Triple Diver headphones, are these an upgrade over those?
how much better is the akg k371 from the k361. And then how do they hold up to the shure srh840?
Found these for 80$ in great conditions and immediately snatched them. Great value for the money.
You should review the Cooler Master mh751
How do these compare to the Creative Aurvana Live!s?
I'd like to see a proper comparison between these and the M40X. I was actually considering buying these, but decided against it because of the lack of good reviews/comparisons.
i have personally tried out both of the headphones. the mid and treble were similar but the akg k371/k361 had a mildly exaggerated bass. but the thing that sold me was the comfort, the stock m40x are uncomfortable to say the least and the akg are extremally comfortable.
@@joshcarpenter400 Yeah, the k361 is better in every way, glad I wasted my money on the m40x. The only good thing is that I realized I love the frequency response and I hate harman. If eq didn't exist, maybe I wouldn't regret my purchase so much.
compare to DT770 Pro 80 Ohms please?
Could you get a pair of K371 and compare them? I could buy and send them to you for review.
How're they against the DT770, if you have that reference?
This, or the M40X for music production?
Hd 599 next please
nice review -- comparison to openback shp9600 important to me since i was about
to return shp9600 in favor of k361 (am not caring about open vs closed really) ... so i wont return shp9600 now
the k361 is only available for $150 here in Indonesia, is it still worth it? here, the price of the k361 is close to that of the m50xbt
How is the Shiit Fulla going to improve the mic?
