I have a pair of DT 1990 Pros (also because of your reviews) that I absolutely love for mixing/mastering, but they've always felt a little clinical or something for relaxed listening. @@hellofriend4941 I wouldn't say easily at all... Soundstage feels more open on the Sundara, but imaging I'd probably say 1990. 1990 closer to a flat response, so if I absolutely had to choose I'd probably pick them for work. But the Sundara takes EQ really well and they're just a really easy listening experience. They complement each other nicely, offer different but related experiences if that makes any sense. A/Bing them for final mixes has been very useful. I've sold all my other headphones but kept both of these. Hope that helps. 🤷‍♂

My intended purpose is for general music listening, music production and mixing (rap, gospel, intrumental keyboard, and techno.) And maybe some gaming on Console.
I really want the Sundaras, but I am not fully sold out on them because they are not closed back headphones and not having noise cancelling. I heard the closed back and noise cancelling are better for music production and mixing that's why.

    • @pliedtka

The headphone output is driven by main front channels via 330ohm or similar value. A good headphone amp for driving these headphones shouldn't have more than 5ohm output impedance, to keep freq response constant but plannars usually don't have impedance peak at resonance like regular dynamic drivers. Can't find impedance measurements for them but I found this, so according to RAA you should be OK. The only thing is that the Denon may not be the most transparent comparing to better discrete headphone amps (yeah the Sundara amongst many plannars is not efficient and needs more power than most hps to sound even)

Is this another revision or this just the 2020 revision covered now?

Do you see a lot of benefit of the Can over the Dac? I am running the Sundara with ifi ZEN Dac signature > ZEN Can, so I was never able to test ^^

@@saltylemonslab4759 Benefit of the Can is that it gives a lot more power for your phones

@@saltylemonslab4759 I did test it. The Sundaras sound better through the Can rather than through the Dac🤙🏻

Great to know, how would this compare to the Sennheiser HD560s (ignoring the cost difference), what headphone would you recommend if I do quite a bit of gaming (fps eSports) and quite a bit of analytical listening?

for gaming idk but when i tried both for music the sundaras pretty much took a massive shit on the hd560s. idk if something was wrong with the hd560s that i tried since most people say they sound similiar. but to me the hd560s sounded like a harsh unclear mess lol. the sundara definitely destroyed them

Would Amazon stocks still possibly be older revisions? Or should every one now be the new version?

Which would be the better choice for a first planar headphone. These Sundaras or the Aeon X? Dont know what FR I like since I only have the 6xx. Comfort is my main concern as I have sensitive ears. Swapped the stock pads on the 6xx for dekoni ones.
