How often do you feed it / fertilize it? What do you fertilize it with? I have a fuerte that is giving flowers but I’ve only fertilized it around Jan. Wondering if I need to fertilize again. I gave it avocado plant food they sell at Walmart.
Someone called the browning of the leaves on my huge avacados tree ‘rust’. Had the tree sprayed which meant losing the foliage but it has come back fuller than ever. But now noticing brown spotting in some leaves. Has the disease come back?
My Hass avocado tree is shedding its leaves as we were coming out of summer & coming into Autumn here in Australia,a new set of leaves are also coming through as well. We had a cold start to summer at about 16°C (about 60°F) in mid December & a hot 37°C (99°F) end which were even getting in March which is in early Autumn over here. Were kind of in the middle of La Nina & El Nino now meaning that we're in the neutral position, when we had EL Nino a few years ago we were getting Arizona temperatures of 45°C (113°F) on a few days where 42°C (108°F) wasn't uncommon during those summers !
Everytime someone purchases an avocado tree, they need to be briefed that the tree is going to shed all it's leaves and look like it's dying early spring. I threw away a Gem avocado cuz i thought I had killed it. Also need to be told that shade cloth is a necessity or the new leave growth will die and you'll only have a stem.
Good info. I live in Los Angeles. I know tons of people grow avocado successfully here, so I know water isn't my problem. But I do have one: my Hass tree came with hundreds of pea-sized fruits on it when I planted it (all but one fell off, which grew to full size and I harvested). That was 3 years ago. Since then, the tree has not flowered AT ALL - EVER! It keeps getting bigger and growing healthy new leaves, but never a flower! Any idea what's wrong?
If you're talking about how water-wise it is to establish the proper microclimate as they're becoming established/hardening off, then yes they are appropriate (anything is) with the appropriate methods.
Great info. Thanks
Nice plants ❤
I just planted my first avocado tree in queen creek Arizona, a Mexicola

should avocado be planted in dry areas ?
As Shamus was saying, you can providing that you give them with a suitable microclimate !
