I believe the sound of the 80s/90s performers who.played was intentional sabotage..so they wouldn't 'show up' the younger latest 'stars" of the moment who would have their sound perfect

Don't blame Cyndi Lauper's age. I've seen several of the singer's performances, including recent ones, and everything was perfect. There is clearly a sound problem and unfortunately she was uncomfortable but did the best she could. She rocks!
Sound engineers did a terrible job this year and fucked up a lot during different peoples sets. ❤❤

The woman is 71 years old and still on stage belting it out not to mention she had a vocal chord collapse and other vocal operations she had and to know they had mic issues this day. So to all those complaining u sure dk what ur talking about lol

@@bevonkacon17Absolutely! She was my very first concert back in 1997 she opened for Tina Turner, may she R.I.P. and both were amazing. Seen Cyndi live 4 times, once with Cher. So sad she’s on her Farewell Tour.

Michelle, just ignore the haters cuz some people aren’t happy unless they’re bringing others down or putting them down. Plus they forget some artists lose their voices and it’s not always an age thing. I love Madonna too for 39 years and finally got to see her live for her 40th anniversary greatest hits tour and of course people tore her down for how she dressed cuz of her age? If you don’t like the person DONT watch them or go somewhere that there’s fans of that artist just to be hateful. I’ve never understood it. Maybe it’s cuz I’m going to be 50 soon and didn’t have the internet when I was in my teens lol, but I’ve seen people much older than me being vial too. Either way, I love Cyndi, always have and always will. I hope to be able to afford to go to the Farewell Tour ❤

It could be how the sound registers from the speakers/microphones to the audio/visual equipment recording the video. Light and sound do travel at different speeds.✌🏻

Defn an ear monitor issue, & good on her guitar player coming front, letting her watch the chords & get back on time. You can so hear the change. Cindy just rocks.

Yeah, that's not what happened at all. No musician, no matter how good, can tell what tune the guitar is playing in when all the performers on the stage rely on ear monitors for audio feed of the mix. She was either singing out of tune because she couldn't hear the mix in her earpiece or she was just singing out of tune.

@@AnthonyRochester she was out of time, sure. That wasn't resolved by the guitarist coming to "save the performance" as she was still out of time by the end of the song. However, from the moment she started singing, she was glaringly out of tune.
Two facts:
1. The sound engineers didn’t screw the in-ear monitors.
2. Cyndi would’ve done a great performance nevertheless.
She has always continued to heal the world with the power of her songs
but maybe not by the power of her 'voice' ...or what's left of it

There is clearly a problem with her in-ear monitors. She is consistently behind the beat. Also, her voice usually sounds phenomenal, so I think she was aware of the issue and having a hard time.

I'm ashamed to say I'm not very familiar with the lady behind this song, but this is such a classic. My parents and their generation jam to songs like this. Music really does transcend time.
Lyrically one of the best songs to come out of the 80s. I played this hundreds of times at the radio stations I worked at.

I love her hair so much. She's 71. I listened to a different interview, and apparently and with the exception of the headliners, bands don't get to do a sound check. It's live, and things don't always go as well as planned. It's so good to see her, though.

When you play these big outdoor shows, you live and die by your monitors. Sounds like the entire band may have had funky in ear moniter mixes, including our queen. I’d blame that over anything else. It can take even well oiled machines and make it sound exactly like this. You can hear the guitarist and drummer struggling a bit with timing as well.

As a fan over 40 years i only can say that she always had trouble with the sound. Its heartbreaking, because she works hart on stage,every time.

I was 11 when "She's So Unusual" came out, just a few weeks ago on June 17th i turned 52. Cyndis birthday is right after mine on June 22, she is literally the same age as my Mother. i am 52 and she is MY Mothers age ans she still sounds this good. there have been A LOT of great singers that did not still have their voices by that age.
Anyone criticizing a technical error from one of most original artists still performing today is just being petty, she's a consumate musician.
Not sure who at did the sound check at Glastonbury but they should have turned up the volume on Cyndi's mic. Otherwise, thanks for posting the video.

Hearing this song was one of my earliest life memories.
