This song will always remind me of my mother. I remember that I would stay up late at night hoping to catch this song on the radio to record it for weeks after hearing it in the movie theater. Then one day, getting us home from school, it was suddenly playing on my radio. I went running to my room to record it. When I got to the radio I saw there was a cassette tape playing inside. She bought the album for me as a surprise.

@@mir3349 Hi. Cyndi has BIRTHDAY TOMORROW. It is also a positive thing😀🌹 and I made a very special video to this song🎬. You find it in my UA-cam Folder. Enjoy. Peace.
I'm always amazed at how simple this song's arregengement is: a drum machine, keyboards and a chorus guitar. The bass enters only in the chorus to interact with the harmonized singing. They could have overdone it, but they kept it simple. Love it.
@@BritishBloke66 Surrrrrrre but Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is by far her biggest hit. And the 80s had a lot of popular songs (like every decade). I was just making an argument that it’s one of the best song of the entire decade. Just my opinion though.
this video bring back memories of my past mom ..,,when we used to watch these sweet videos back in the 80s on video cassettes ..makes me cry .nothin beats the classic
My mom ditched out on me when I was two. I used to listen to this and pretend it was my mom singing it to me. I grew up and got to know better. Now I sing it to my daughters so they'll never have to pretend.
I've always imagined this song as being about people, who are connected to each other by friendship, family, and/or romance, finding their people after they have died.
I never thought we would make it...my 20th anniversary of marriage to my husband. We have been through such pain, poverty and struggle and toil. This is my husband's favorite song.
It's 22:21 Nov 23, 2024 in Kampala, Uganda. I'm playing this song for my fiancée, explaining to her why our wedding band has got to cover this. She's all in! We're both 90s babies btw 😅
Wow, where did that time go. Listening to this is straight back there dancing to it. Life flies by. The best time in life is that one in your teens you get independence money in your pocket and you have all the hopes dreams wishes and feel omnipotent, such a wonderful time. You think your whole life will be like like that, makes me happy and sad all at the same time hearing cyndi
My brother, who was also my best friend, and I, used to camp all the time when Time After Time came out on the radio in 1983. We were in our early twenties. He died on Christmas Day 2 years ago,and this song is like a time portal. I close my eyes and see the flashes of color in the changing mountain trees, snowy peaks, the rush of sparkling melt water rushing down in rivulets. I know he will be waiting for me.
You just made me think. I’d like dying on 4th of January or something, when the Christmas is clearly over. Happy & fulfilled by the greetings of the season
My sister passed away on valentine's day and after the funeral when i was in my car this song came on and I was lost with pain and anger and it brought me to tears r.i.p Joan 🙏
This song makes me feel nostalgic to the time when both my parents and all my siblings were still alive. I associate it with the time when my father was alive in particular. He passed on in 1986 but each time hear this song I wish I could turn back the hands of time. May all the people that I used to listen this song with RIP.
I told my daughter that this song is "our song". Years have passed and I don't speak to her often enough and I miss her dearly. When I play this song, I weep uncontrollably and I fall into zero state...like a marionette under an insidious sorrow...and I can't shake it. Such is life.
U made tears fall frm my eyes just reading your comment I can’t imagine what you are going through not being around your baby I hope tht situation already changed for the best by the time u read my comment 🙏
Embrace the good memories with her. In time she may hear your heart, and then understand the feelings and return to you. If not cherish the good memories. I had the opportunity to mind a few fences with my daughter 3 months before I lost her.
This song has so much meaning for me. I remember so clearly listening to it on my Walkman, soon after it came out, after going to visit the site where our new house was being built. It was the fall of 1984 and I was only 8 years old, but it had been one of the most eventful years of my life. My grandmother had died, my little sister was born, I moved to a new school, and we were about to move into a new house. Even at that very young age, I was feeling nostalgic and wistful, thinking about how much things were changing in my life. Now at 46 years old, every time I hear this song I feel like time loops back on itself and I can reach out and touch that little girl.
@elizabethwall8063 : If you have not already listened, check out the version by the late, Eva Cassidy. She puts in something extra from the heart, the lyrics are enriched tugging on our memories from deep within.
Tears in my eyes reading this. I was born in 84 but the song still held so much meaning for me. And yes! Eva Cassidy was incredible! Such a voice! Anyway, thanks for sharing this little snippet of your life ❤️
This song invokes a sense of longing, loneliness and uncertainty, and as the song and I both age it also invokes a somber nostalgia. And that simple but elegant baseline gets stuck in my head even more than the melody.
Yes. To all of that. Just the perfect song. And it's perhaps the rare eighties song that manages to sound distinctly eighties yet without being dated. It's not overproduced, the arrangement is eminently tasteful, and they finally figured out how to blend the synth tastefully into the arrangement without sabotaging an otherwise great song. And of course, it's all about Cyndi's impeccable technique. Breath control, pitch, phrasing...so warm, intimate. It chokes me up every time. It moved me when I first heard it at eleven when it came out and it still does today.
"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper is not just a song; it's a timeless journey that transcends generations. Today, as we celebrate its 40th anniversary, it's hard not to be moved by the enduring charm and emotional depth of this masterpiece. For someone who grew up in the 1990s, this song was more than just a melody from the past; it was a bridge to an era of heartfelt music. Listening to Cyndi's soulful voice, it felt like she was speaking directly to us, sharing a story of love and resilience that resonated deeply. Her unique style and genuine emotion in every note made "Time After Time" a comforting friend and a source of inspiration. It's a reminder of the power of music to connect, to heal, and to bring joy across time. Thank you, Cyndi Lauper, for gifting the world with this beautiful anthem that continues to touch hearts, decades later. #TimeAfterTime40 #CyndiLauperLegacy 🌟🎶💖"

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick, And think of you Caught up in circles confusion - Is nothing new Flashback - warm nights - Almost left behind Suitcases of memories, Time after - Sometimes you picture me - I'm walking too far ahead You're calling to me, I can't hear What you've said - Then you say - go slow - I fall behind - The second hand unwinds [Chorus:] If you're lost you can look - and you will find me Time after time If you fall I will catch you - I'll be waiting Time after time After my picture fades and darkness has Turned to gray Watching through windows - you're wondering If I'm OK Secrets stolen from deep inside The drum beats out of time - [Chorus:] If you're lost... You said go slow - I fall behind The second hand unwinds - [Chorus:] If you're lost... ...Time after time Time after time Time after time Time after time

I was just telling my wife of 13 years how much emotion this song stirs up inside me. Such a WONDERFUL song and WONDERFUL memories of a time that has long been gone from our society
I have always loved this song. When I met my wife she was married. I was kind of a nomad but something about her made me know that I only wanted to be where she was. It was a feeling I never had and that was honestly the moment I saw her. I felt like I would follow her into any life she wanted. They were at that point,in their marriage, when they were realizing they had grown in different directions. I waited until she was seperated to tell her how I felt. We have raised 3 sons and I love her more everyday. She sings this to me because she says I am always there waiting to catch her when she falls. I am watching her sleep on the couch right now while I listen to songs that remind me of her.
I’m so stress out.. my boyfriend kept hitting me for yrs and I never told no one... I LOVE EVERYONE😢😢😢 I have no one to talk to . Thanks to social media. I can vent. Keep safe everyone 🙏🏾❤️ let love more and hate less
Unfortunately, some time in the 90's some wanna be hip hop singer decided to sing this song to a diso beat. It went over like a wet fart in an elevator, much like what Nicki French did to Total Eclipse of The Heart (came out around the same time).
Lizzie Martin just like 30yrs ago there's always bad things happening, you just didn't see it as much because the only news source is the news and the newspaper.
I wast even alive in the 80s but I just feel like people were more united and not persuaded by evil back then a lot more evil and bad intentions are filled with life now
This song was released in 1983. I was born in 1999. I am currently 23 and I am still jamming to this. I find these songs thankfully to my parents. If you're from the next generation, please don't let this song and many other old ones die out.
Born in '62...I vividly remember this & other songs from this album (She's So Unusual), hearing them on the radio in the summer of '84, when after graduated college I made the Big Move away from home to start my career (retired in 2018), so these (& many other) songs bring back great memories. 😎
It's Paul Same lol. I feel all cozy at my grandma’s house with all of her stuffed animals that used to belong to my mom and aunties. Then I still remember watching old horror films on her old tv 📺 Its like Im living in someone else’s sentiment
Yep, welcome to being a grown up. Have two kids I tuck in every night telling them everything is going to be ok. Think ofwhat my grandmother would have said...
Damn I'm 20 and this makes me want to go back to the 80s EDIT: This song, and many other songs from the 80s, are so wonderful and unique it makes me wonder how it would be to live at a time where something like this is mainstream everywhere. Not every young person who says they like the 80s or some other era says it to sound unique or to get a medal by trying to be different. Contrary to popular belief, it is entirely possible for a young person to genuinely like old music. So chill out with the comments saying that the 80s were not better than today and whatnot because if you look at my one sentence comment you'll see that I never said anything like that. So stop assuming and chill out!
+adriana12995 - you definitely missed growing up in, what seemed, a magical time - the moments seemed very different than what they are now, different people, a different time - it almost seems that it was more fun back then ...... very nostalgic
+waqqodonkey Yeah. Well, I suppose when I get old I will feel the same way. Every era has its own wonderfulness and uglyness. I hope that when I get older I will be able to look back and feel my own beautiful nostalgia.
My 12 year old nephew came behind me while I was watching this video and asked "who is this lady?". I replied back "it's the great Cyndi Lauper". He stood there completely mesmerized until the song was over. I left the room and when I came back 40 minutes later, he was still watching videos from Cyndi Lauper... This is what happens when the music, talent and vocals are timeless. Cyndi is a musical genius.

They really do. I can’t imagine kids now getting nostalgia in forty years from what they’re forced to listen too. 80s songs take you to a distinct place, even an individual, that girl you liked at school or that afternoon at your grans

I'm always amazed at how simple this song's arregengement is: a drum machine, keyboards and a chorus guitar. The bass enters only in the chorus to interact with the harmonized singing. They could have overdone it, but they kept it simple. Love it.
Você foi perfeito em sua análise.
Thats actually what i hum to everytime..that bass. Consistent

I’ve always thought this was low key one of the best songs of the entire 80s. Simple, melodic, catchy, and pretty.
It was a huge hit when it came out....and has been well-known ever since
Definitely!!!
@@BritishBloke66 Surrrrrrre but Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is by far her biggest hit. And the 80s had a lot of popular songs (like every decade). I was just making an argument that it’s one of the best song of the entire decade. Just my opinion though.
It also went with a classy video too as many 80's videos were, but this one was probably one of the best.
One of those songs that defined the decade.

Very nice it's emotional it brings good memories
My mom ditched out on me when I was two. I used to listen to this and pretend it was my mom singing it to me. I grew up and got to know better. Now I sing it to my daughters so they'll never have to pretend.
I've always imagined this song as being about people, who are connected to each other by friendship, family, and/or romance, finding their people after they have died.

This song invokes a sense of longing, loneliness and uncertainty, and as the song and I both age it also invokes a somber nostalgia.

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion -
Is nothing new
Flashback - warm nights -
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after -
Sometimes you picture me -
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said -
Then you say - go slow -
I fall behind -
The second hand unwinds
[Chorus:]
If you're lost you can look - and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you - I'll be waiting
Time after time
After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Watching through windows - you're wondering
If I'm OK
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time -
[Chorus:]
If you're lost...
You said go slow -
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds -
[Chorus:]
If you're lost...
...Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time

God bless you and your wife.

Damn I'm 20 and this makes me want to go back to the 80s
EDIT: This song, and many other songs from the 80s, are so wonderful and unique it makes me wonder how it would be to live at a time where something like this is mainstream everywhere.

I was born in 1997 and I absolutely adore this song. It would've been amazing if I got to experience the 80s. ❤ Seemed like such a wonderful decade.
The 80s were awesome! Lucky enough to have experienced it 😊
80's was magical, they devoured these songs, there were hits after hits,
The 80s was pretty trash everybody was pretty sure that the cold war would escalate and the world will end
It was❤ im reminiscing good times dad and i had back then. He just passed.. cancer. Listening these songs helps me feel like he's still close. Our song was We Built This City. I DID NOT like it at first..think he said he didn't care for it neither. After awhile we were blasting it 😄 we sang it 2gether his final months. I'll probably keep it on replay now. And I Won't Back Down..another good one.

one of the best things about 50 years old,is the fact that i lived my teenage years in the 80's that is priceless and i am grateful !!!
My mom is the same age and absolutely agrees!
I spent most of my 20’s in the 80’s. Most, not all. I “hit 30” in 1988.
Many more to come. Gbu

Bueno
Lying in my bed, I hear the clock tick and think of you
Caught up in circles
Confusion is nothing new
Flashback, warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcase of memories
Time after
Sometimes you picture me
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said
Then you say, "go slow"
And I fall behind
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost, you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time
After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Watching through windows
You're wondering if I'm okay
Secrets stolen from deep inside (deep inside)
And the drum beats out of time
If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost, you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time
Time after time
I've got a suitcase of memories that I almost left behind
Time after time
Time, time, time
But you say to go slow but I fall behind
Time after time after time
