My groomer is leaving the area. She gave me a 6 week notice so I could find another groomer. Nobody really wants to groom an Old English sheepdog, other than places like pet smart. So, I started watching your videos. I was able to understand how to bathe my girl properly and gave her a bath the night before her last groom. The groomer praised my work, and allowed me to work side by side with her to get her clipped and trimmed using the equipment i had purchased. I am now on my own. Yes, I am a bit nervous, but your videos and her instructions will carry me through to being independent with my pup grooming needs. The first few times may not look great, but I am confident about being able to keep her clean and free from mats. Thank you for what you do! Without your videos, I would have never even tried this on my own.
I appreciate your videos so much. I started in corporate grooming a year ago and I really don't like how it values profit over quality care for the pet. I've faced so much burn out, but your videos help me stay passionate and I am finally leaving to seek an apprenticeship at a nice shop with my same feelings. Your love for dogs is so heartwarming to see and I feel the same way about these precious angels. It is our job to keep them healthy. I deeply appreciate your tips on how to help anxious dogs that aren't used to grooming. It is the most challenging part of the job for me, but I want to be able to help them. You've taught me so much of what I know to give proper care to dogs while working in a place that doesn't care nearly enough about the pet parents or their babies. Thank you!!
It broke my heart to see a dog in that condition! My babies get brushed and groomed regularly. As you said it's neglect to not regularly groom. Thank you again.
I recently had a financial hardship that made it difficult for me to constantly take my dogs to the groomer. These videos have taught me so much about doing it at home. It definitely takes a lot of practice but it's super helpful to know all this information.
Amy, of all your videos, this one is the best so far, for me. Tears rolled down my face as I saw how you helped this boy...how you understood his fear and you helped him through it. It is the best thing I've ever seen.
He is so happy with those horrible matts gone. When I came to realise my girl couldn't attend the groomers she had been with since 4 months old and the what am I going to do hit in I was beside myself with fear of how do I groom a poodle. Then I found your channel and watched the videos over and over and over again. Your videos gave me the information I needed to choose appropriate equipment and enough confidence to try. That first groom a year ago took hours as both of us needed so many breaks. We still have some issues as my girl is very sensitive about her front legs and paws, we do a bit, then move somewhere else and come back to get through those parts. We now do a full groom in 1.5 hours from bath to done. Thank you for the body of work you have published to help dog owners do the best for their fury friends.
I absolutely love your videos! I've been grooming for 3 years, been a bather for corporate for 2 years. Went to a grooming school and have learned more from your videos than I ever did at school :/
Back in the day when I started grooming ( 1986) there were no grooming schools. You got a job at a shop bathing and drying. Once you were proficient at that you moved on to nail trims and trimming feet etc. you learned the right way. Slowly and correctly. And you got paid to learn instead of paying. Also if you realized it wasn’t for you then you were not out a pile of money I can easily tell by how someone grooms how they learned.
I am an old school groomer. It is an absolute joy to watch you. You remind me of a few things I have become slack in. Thank you so much for being a good groomer. I cringe sometimes watching these newer groomers and it's sad how many don't really know some basics of shaving and not all dogs need to be shaved down with a 10. Thank you again
Omg Amy you are an Angel.. Didn’t he look so happy after that trim and to see him with his new family actually cry with happiness. Great work Amy us Aussies love you and all you do to help us home groomers. 🌹😀💕👼
Amy, thank you for wgat you did for Frankie. So glad he was taken in and fostered by someone that truely cared. Bless you for helping get him cleaned up and feeling better. Love this video. So glad Frankie now has a family to love him. Iwas amazed at how well he behaved on the table.
This dog is so well behaved and cooperative! I have learned so much from you! Thank you for everything you do! I only have a couple short hair chihuahuas but your tips have helped me so much!
Amy, you are an Earth Angel!! I loved and greatly appreciate what you did for Frankie. I have an Australian Labradoodle that's about the same size and age as Frankie, and watching your video brought tears to my eyes. You've inspired and given me the confidence to delve deeper into grooming my pup myself. I just paid $130 last week for a grooming and it was not that great. I'm now going to purchase all the tools, equipment, and supplies that you recommend to build my grooming skills so that I can eventually groom my puppy myself, 100%. I'm now an Amy fan. Thank you!!
Best of luck! Gain all the knowledge you can about how to safely handle a dog on the grooming table and how to properly use the tools and methods to give a dog a professional-looking trim effectively. Hugs!🥰
This dog looks just like our rescued goldendoodle. We were told this was the state he was in when he arrived at the rescue. It took months of me grooming him before he stopped trying to stop mouthing me or nipping at the brush. Thank you for taking care of that dog & for giving the grooming tips
Glad Frankie found a family ❤ I have an Australian Shepard I adopted and I've always groomed him for the most part. The last couple of years have been hard though. Between my health and income. He gets so matted and it's so hard to do his feet. He hates it and I feel like a bad mom😢
Great Post Hounds Channel Members Lesson #11 Video. Amy you are so generous with your knowledge and time to this poor pup He has a beautiful color fur. You are kind and gentle. I'm a proud Member🥰
God bless you Amy. You are not just a great groomer, you are a truly exceptional human being! Your compassion, care and concern for every dog that you groom really shines through. I almost want to move to PA so you can groom my doodle puppy! ☺
They don’t understand when they have never been exposed to grooming. We have to find ways to make it a good experience and that is not easy for grooms such as this one 🥲
I love how you keep mentioning that you have to think about the dog's state of mind. Also how you brought up you having to be confident and the effect it has on the dog. This is a great video and great handling of an unsure dog in a potentially stressful situation.
I love your videos. I have recently gotten back into grooming after 20 years. Your videos have helped refresh me and I have learned so many new tips. Please continue making your videos and I will continue to learn. You are amazing.
OMG Amy, you are an angel. I'm so happy that you did this groom on Frankie. What a beautiful fur baby.❤ Frankie was very nervous but with all the confidence that radiates from you was calming to him. What a difference in his demeanor by the time you where finished his shave down. It broke my heart to see poor Frankie was in such a terrible condition, but you came through Amy. Thank you so much for being at the top of the list of excellent groomers.❤ My tears flowed like a baby when I saw Frankie at his forever home playing with the children. That's the best ending for Frankie being loved and happy. Thanks for sharing this video Amy. You 👍
This week I groomed a nursing old English sheepdog, who had a lot of matting throughout her body, including her face. So sad. 4hr groom and she was incredibly patient. Left with a smooth, beautiful, flowing coat.
Amazing video! One of your best. So much helpful advice and practical tips. I would have loved to see the bath and ear plucking. Can't wait for your next video.
Thank you Amy , you are the only groomer I know that has so much understanding and compassion for our fur baby's, i do not trust any groomer in my town , it is all just about the money no compassion and no taking time i have made some bad experiences, and i decided for my sanity and my dogs welfare to groom my dogs my self and your videos have helped me so much , so thank you ❤
Oh Frankie is a sweet boy and so handsome. Thank you for helping him be more comfortable and good looking. I think you released his true self when you got rid of that matted shell. He looks so happy with his new family. Love your 'teaching' input, often we see a groomer shaving but maybe not the reasons why. I had a long haired GSD who loved being groomed so she was easy to keep mat free (except behind the ears!!!) our other longhaired GSD hated grooming and it was a daily event to go round one part of his body at a time, ie left hind quarter, next day right hind quarter, next day a forequarter etc he could cope well with grooming then. Both of these dogs had previous owners during their puppyhood so their grooming experience was unknown to us. Our short-haired GSDs were puppies with us and loved grooming.... Frankie looks fabulous in his new home with the added bonus of kids to play with....
The technical details of this intense and challenging grooming are amazing, but the energetic aspect of kindness, empathy and compassion toward a struggling dog is the real nugget here. Go Groomer is a blessing for sharing and educating about the vibrational component of interacting with our canine friends.
Thank you so much for your incredible, caring & informative commentary! 🏅 I learned heaps and now feel confident to manage grooming my Sproodle (1st dog owner @ 74yrs)
Thank you for a very detailed explanation on every aspect of the groom, very thorough, very helpful. I am glad this dog is in good hands now. Best wishes ❤️ 👏
Oh thank you for the tips! Got a dog with a few knots and didn’t want to take her to a groomer (she had a horrible experience last time & I don’t know what they did but she was traumatized for days). So…scared, but willing to learn how to groom her.
I loved watching you on this video. Thank you for your empathy and care. I was drawn to this video because when I got my golden doodle from the county shelter she was matted like this. It helped me understand what my girl experienced and that she hadn’t been groomed for a long time (maybe ever!)
You are so beautiful! Your spirit, heart, intellect, loving intuition, wisdom, and tenderness. This is so precious. Thank you for loving and serving animals! Blessed be to you and yours. 🐾🐾♥️
Dogs are the best-esp the best teachers. I love your approach so so much. I am 77 and still have a lot to learn- from the living Universe. Like you, I am eternally grateful. Thanks for sharing!!
Great video, Amy and Frankie! I may never know how my rescued puppy mill mama Shih Tzu looked before she got her shave down, but watching a video of shaving a matted dog makes me take good care so she never has to withstand a body covered in matts ever, ever again. Thanks for all you do, Amy. And, thank you for sharing it with us.
Bless you for taking your time and talent to help this little guy. I really appreciate and use your tips. After a few distressing mishaps with Petco and Petsmart groomers, i am planning on taking care of bathing and trimming my little terrier mix myself. He may be more fluffy, but at least I know he will be safe. Great videos.
I used to groom my dogs over the years, they have passed on. It has been 20 years, and I enjoy your videos. you are gifted, sensitive, and a wonderful teacher. Bless you and all your endeavors.
That was a very technical groom. Lots of grooming tips as well. I’m so happy your friend asked for your help. All of my dogs have been rescue dogs except my current Yorkie. Love and respect for how they are feeling has made a difference every time in turning an anxious dog around. My hardest dog to turn around needed so much love before that happened. That dog and I had more prayer talks with God than ever. She ended up being the most loving dog, and in turn so, so compassionate. You are a very good, experienced groomer, with a wonderful heart for dogs.
Beautiful looking dog. I must say the mats on this dog were nothing compared to some I’ve seen. I’ve seen some where the whole coat comes off in one piece it’s just felted together.
I adopted a Goldendoodle a few months ago. I kept up with the brushing and did my 1st haircut. Thank you for your videos and insight on how to have patience and connect with your fur babies during the process of grooming. ❤❤❤❤
I am so happy to know Frankie found a loving family!!! That was yet another great groom Amy and I always learn something new when I watch you!! Thank you for sharing!!
Bless you, Amy! I have 4 Doodles that you have taught me how to groom. I know how important daily brushing and scheduled cuts are for Doodles. While I watched you groom Frankie I felt so bad that he had been neglected..those mats!😢😢😢 Thank you for all you do.
Grooming a severely matted dog is like cleaning a hoarders house, the outcome will not be perfect because there has been damaged done. Grooming these severely matted dogs breaks my heart, and this is so common now with the doodles.
I honestly hate seeing these dogs being bred cause 9 and a 1/2 of the ones I get are badly matted. People don’t realize how much grooming is at home and in the pocket until they are grown and start to realize. I’d hate to see a lot of these being dumped
@@beth4893 whenever I look at the dogs available at shelters I very rarely see any doodles. I don’t think you need to worry about them getting dumped in large numbers .
Come on out to Ohio puppy mill country and check our shelters. Your pet store doodle probably came from the puppy mills out here. I get a lot of mill dogs in for grooming. They require so much more work and gentle hands. Most of them have never known a kind human.
It was a pleasure to watch you work on this matted dog. You groomed him without taking away all of his dignity buy shaving him down to his bare skin. The other groomers shave down to the bare skin whenever they see Matt’s.
I love this video. Thank you. My dog Rosie the groodle( golden Doodles in australia) came to me as a foster matted and I cd not find a groomer who would take her in. She finally got shaved down by the vets. We then adopted Rosie and I decided to study dog grooming so she would never be in that position again. 🥰 regular grooming is so important. Thank you for making that point about scheduling regular grooms.
Thank you for sharing!!! It’s so uplifting to focus on what’s next instead of “dog-owner shaming”. You gently made your point about how sad it is when folks aren’t responsible pet owners, but you’re a very positive person and continuously focused on what Frankie needed. The part about the happy ending for the grooming and the happy beginning (forever home) for Frankie was so awesome! ♥️ Thank you
Fabulous groom Amy, phew sweating for you! What a beautiful boy Frankie is, so pleased he found a happy home? 😊 I have followed all your grooms finding you on youtube when i decided to groom my puppy standard poodle..who is now 4yrs of age..you have helped me immensely and i have learnt so much from you..Thank you. X
You have really helped me in any part of grooming I do especially when it’s clipping knots, one dog I was clipping out knots was a neutered male GSD but his knots were so big and tight that I referred to them as his knotsicals as they where just where is balls would have been and if you saw him sitting down and didn’t know that he was neutered you would have thought he was still intact
I bought a cavoodle last year and had NO idea the grooming she needed. This has been the most extensive and eye opening grooming video I have ever seen!! This is the 3rd video of yours I've watched, just today, and I went straight away to amazon AU and bought a Wahl dog clipper set. I've NEVER clipped a dog before, but now I am confident enough and knowledged enough to try again with good clippers. Thank you so much for your efforts and tutorials. You are a wonderful lady and I appreciate your kind heart. 🌹 This was an awesome story with an happily ever after. Crying tears of joy for Frankie ♥
Thank you so much for this video!...by the end I found myself sitting here crying tears of happiness for Frankie. My dogs are sitting here watching me cry like im crazy lol!
I sure did. Oh my gosh it is people like this wonderful person that makes people like me believe there are good people still left in this world that care!! My hats off to you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing all that you have.
You've made such a difference in mine & my dog's life!! Thank you so much, Amy, for sharing your knowledge and helping us!! I wish I could post pics to show you. Thank you, Amy!!
I’m new to grooming, completed online course and studied through books, videos like this, and I work alongside a few professionals. I did my very first shave down of a doodle just like this kid the other day. He was very sensitive about his legs and paws, especially the front. He was worried and we gave him several breaks, took about 5 hours total. I definitely learned from it but I am satisfied with how it turned out, especially after seeing this video. It went similarly. He’s probably feeling so much better.
This is super helpful, I'm will be a first time, in home groomer. I have a matted long hair mixed breed. Coming out of the rainy season and now with stickers in the yard she's become matted. I've been concerned with taking her coat to short now thatbwe will be in the heat of the summer
❤I watch your videos alot I have a very matted dog that i just dont have the confidence to groom , and the dog always tries to bite and fight any groomers who have tried....im so appriciative for your soft voice and how calm you stay with your dogs..i wish you were in las vegas, and could groom my dog .i love you girl
Omg so who else cried when Frankie starting running n playing with the kids?❤
I did 💖

The main rule, u have to comb your dogs coat by using 😊compressor!! It makes look nice any long coated dog!
Amy, of all your videos, this one is the best so far, for me. Tears rolled down my face as I saw how you helped this boy...how you understood his fear and you helped him through it. It is the best thing I've ever seen.
I’m with you on that! 💖
I love this lady...she speaks my language...she speaks/feels dog. Xxx

He is living his best life💖
You are an excellent instructor for dog grooming. Your work on this dog is outstanding.
I appreciate that 💖

It was a tough groom but well worth it 💖

Thank you, Amy. I think this is one of your best videos, especially for showing how to handle an uncooperative dog with gentle firmness.
They don’t understand when they have never been exposed to grooming. We have to find ways to make it a good experience and that is not easy for grooms such as this one 🥲

We all agree his freedom from the mats and from a life that was not enough was the best part 🙌💖

This is one of your greatest videos. Very informative as always and you are the best! Frankie is saved and in a forever home.
He’s got to be so relieved! Your the best Amy! It’s Carissa by the way ❤
Thank you sweetie💖
So glad the dog now has a good home. And thank you for your patience in dealing with his fear!
Amazing video! One of your best. So much helpful advice and practical tips. I would have loved to see the bath and ear plucking. Can't wait for your next video.

Thank you from both Frankie and myself 💖
You are an angel for the dogs. Your empathy for this dog is heart touching. Thank you .🙏💫
It’s always about the dog 💖
You explain things so good. I believe I could do a groom. However, I know it’s looks easier than it is. Nice work

You are amazing Amy! And you helped this dog in so many ways not just with the mats!!! Thank you this was uplifting!!! And edicational
You are so welcome!
It was very noble of you to help this poor dog in need. And, on your day off. You should be very proud of yourself.
I love having the ability to help them feel better. 😍

Amy - This was a great video. Learned a great deal about using your other hand. As well as the energy that you need to bring to a groom. ❤❤❤❤
Fantastic 🥰
Beautiful looking dog. I must say the mats on this dog were nothing compared to some I’ve seen. I’ve seen some where the whole coat comes off in one piece it’s just felted together.
I adopted a Goldendoodle a few months ago. I kept up with the brushing and did my 1st haircut. Thank you for your videos and insight on how to have patience and connect with your fur babies during the process of grooming. ❤❤❤❤
Awesome! 😊
I am so happy to know Frankie found a loving family!!! That was yet another great groom Amy and I always learn something new when I watch you!! Thank you for sharing!!
My pleasure 🙏
This situation is making me cry. I appreciate how kind you are to him.
Cheer up, he is a happy boy now.
I did cheer up after seeing him so happy with his new haircut and then with his forever family. 😊
Bless you, Amy! I have 4 Doodles that you have taught me how to groom. I know how important daily brushing and scheduled cuts are for Doodles. While I watched you groom Frankie I felt so bad that he had been neglected..those mats!😢😢😢 Thank you for all you do.
You are amazing lady and I love watching you work on dogs. ❤️❤️
Thank you kindly. 🙌
Thank you for all the safety tips and showing the direction in which to guide the clippers. ❤
Sweet baby! I hope he finds the best forever home. Thank you for helping him!
He did find is forever home 💖
Grooming a severely matted dog is like cleaning a hoarders house, the outcome will not be perfect because there has been damaged done. Grooming these severely matted dogs breaks my heart, and this is so common now with the doodles.
It sure is.
I honestly hate seeing these dogs being bred cause 9 and a 1/2 of the ones I get are badly matted. People don’t realize how much grooming is at home and in the pocket until they are grown and start to realize. I’d hate to see a lot of these being dumped
I so agree
I do my best for each one of them 💖
I love this video.
I love to see how you give so much emotional support to Frankie!
Great groom...You are so kind to the scared pup...I've watched so many videos where the groomers are very frustrated and ruff..Love your videos! ❤
Thank you so much!
I wish I could post a pic of my pup..I bought the Chris Christian brush and Ice spray because of your videos.. Her hair is really long..
Thank you for sharing n for all you do. God bless all your endeavors.
You are so welcome
Great work Amy Leigh! Frankie looked amazing at the end, loved this video so much! ❤
So glad you liked it 💖
Thanks for all you do --including sharing this video/story

Thank you for sharing!!! It’s so uplifting to focus on what’s next instead of “dog-owner shaming”. You gently made your point about how sad it is when folks aren’t responsible pet owners, but you’re a very positive person and continuously focused on what Frankie needed.
The part about the happy ending for the grooming and the happy beginning (forever home) for Frankie was so awesome! ♥️
Thank you
It a great ending 💖
I saw many helpful tips for my golden doodle puppy. Thank you. I loved your tips on knowing your doggie!!! 😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉
Fabulous groom Amy, phew sweating for you! X
Yes! Thank you!
Great job. I love that you talked about staying calm and in touch with the doggo. Compassion and empathy are so important. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your videos. I am just trying to get in to grooming and I am trying to learn anything and everything I can.
AMY, you have a heart of gold 💛! May God bless you for your kindness.
I’m not a saint, I just love helping dogs and this is how I can do that 💖
You have really helped me in any part of grooming I do especially when it’s clipping knots, one dog I was clipping out knots was a neutered male GSD but his knots were so big and tight that I referred to them as his knotsicals as they where just where is balls would have been and if you saw him sitting down and didn’t know that he was neutered you would have thought he was still intact
Look how happy he is!
🥰
I bought a cavoodle last year and had NO idea the grooming she needed. This has been the most extensive and eye opening grooming video I have ever seen!! This is the 3rd video of yours I've watched, just today, and I went straight away to amazon AU and bought a Wahl dog clipper set. I've NEVER clipped a dog before, but now I am confident enough and knowledged enough to try again with good clippers. Thank you so much for your efforts and tutorials. You are a wonderful lady and I appreciate your kind heart. 🌹
This was an awesome story with an happily ever after. Crying tears of joy for Frankie
♥
Thank you so much for this video!...by the end I found myself sitting here crying tears of happiness for Frankie. My dogs are sitting here watching me cry like im crazy lol!
This video hits a chord for me too 💖 Hugs!
I sure did. Oh my gosh it is people like this wonderful person that makes people like me believe there are good people still left in this world that care!! My hats off to you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing all that you have.
Absolutely!!

Such an emotional ending. It made me shed a few! Thank you for being such a great human being❤❤
Awesome cut and time with such a beautiful dog!
What a nice great video, you are very kind to take good care of the dog.
Great video and advice! Thank you for helping this sweet guy❤
Thank you for the advice about stretching the skin, and using the other hand. Great job.
My pleasure!
Wow!!! So impressive! I’m sure he feels better! I’m glad he landed with a good family!!!
