    Great tips! I changed to finding my aim point while standing over the ball by imagining a line all the way to my target. This has helped me get set up straighter than aiming at a point on the ground

    As I am getting into the golf game much later in life I take lessons. First thing my instructor noticed and we corrected was my grip. Yep. I was strangling the club. I went a month at the range with a much more relaxed grip and gained accuracy, distance, and even on fat shots they at least got the ball to travel better. Thanks Rick. Great tips. Have a great day sir!

      Yes, I agree with you. This video is really helpful to me, and I will share it with my friends because these are perfect tips for everyone. I think the first technique is pretty useful. Before when my ball is near the green, I usually use a lofty club to hit the ball. But sometimes my ball can’t land properly, it is always far away from the hole. I think if I meet this position after, I can try to use 8 iron to hit the ball as he did, try to let the ball land on the edge of the green, and let the ball follow the slope to the hole. The third important tip for me: use the golf balls logo or draw a line on the ball. Putting is my old disease, and I am struggling with my alignment for a long time. This video helps me a lot, after watching I use his technique to use the brand of the ball to find the line, and it works. I can feel my putting is better than before.

      So many of us "go golfing" with the boys, and do most of our "learning" on the golf course, rather than at the practice range, and when we do use the driving range, we don't waste balls on short chipping practice, which is the second most important part of golf. I used to go to the range - alone, and actually work on those short shots for most of that time.
      Short chips and long putts are where we can build confidence, and lower our score cards.
      3 puts are almost always due to lost focus on the first put...

  • @AllTradesGeorge
    @AllTradesGeorge Рік тому

    A friend of mine taught me the bump-and-run concept, and it's been great (as long as I consistently apply it...consistency is a big shortcoming in my game...)
    Another tip that someone gave me...establish a specific rhythm for putting. I have a tendency to rush my swing, which very often leads to me pushing or pulling the putt off-line...someone suggested that to me, and when I remember to do it, my putts are noticeably straighter and my distance control is significantly better.
    Doesn't need to be anything elaborate...I do a simple, slow, "One...Two..." It just sets a consistent rhythm, which creates more consistent results. And once you create consistent results, it becomes easier to adjust what other flaws you have...it's really hard to adjust any one thing on your swing when there are four or five inconsistent aspects...you can never be sure if your correction was bad, or if you just did something else wrong.

    And number 10 -
    Remember it's just a game. Worst case scenario, you've got yourself out of the house for a few hours and knocked around with your mates, putting the world to rights, checking in with each other, getting a few things off your chest and off your mind. You've also likely dodged or put off some chores while you were out! Best case, you've smashed a few wondrous strokes out there too, and will remember them later on, and give yourself a smug little pat on the back!
    As I say, it should be fun. Don't forget that, and you won't go far wrong.

    For tip #1, the 8 iron can be fine but even better/more consistent is to learn the Runyan method/rule of 12 to determine the best club to use around the green. It works like an absolute charm though in some situations you do need to adjust and make it based on 11 or 13 depending on your club lofts and course conditions.

    I find tip 9 super important for putting too. When I'm reading a putt I visualise the path of the ball to the hole, and then try roll it on that line with the right speed.
