Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This UA-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

I swear Rick knows exactly what I’m struggling with at any point in time
That's probably caus you're struggling with everything at any point in time like the rest of us
Golf
So true
Me too , GOLF lol
I feel the same way 😂 had a round the other day and this killed me
Last year I was averaging over 120 on most courses and sliced my driver so much, it make a boomerang jealous. Rick's videos have not only got me hitting straight (most of the time) but I broke 100 for the first time ever this past weekend. Thanks for the awesome tips Rick!
@Matt Becham everyone starts out bad, shut up
Matt Becham what’s the reason for your negative comment?
Matt Becham .... Ye no......
Good job bro!
@matt becham fingers cats
0:45 - Above your feet
3:59 - Ball below your feet
6:40 - Uphill lie
9:44 - Downhill lie
I appreciate your teaching and explanations. They've been incredibly useful to me. Timestamps for people looking for a quick reference.
Thanks
Timestamps for people on the course at the moment
@@brodeur212 i know i refer to them en route
What about using fairway woods Rick? Will the set up be the same set up?😊
Just thankful for Rick. That's all.
Free content that's worth more than a box of golf balls I would have lost otherwise
1:23 almost said "me eight iron"
lol it's all good Rick, we know you can't hide your inner English!
Cheers!
Inner English... You mean Burnley Accent haha
For Queen and County! 😆
Good catch
You can’t lie that the noise that the club makes when the ball get hit is INSANELY SATISFYING😉
Except for noise at 0:13 where he thinned it
You can’t even hear it out of the rough
Wait till you hear the sound when it hits you
Rick is killing the Swing instruction industry. Like the Magician who gives all the secrets away....and we thank you. AS for the hanging lie, ball below our feet. My opinion; the reason we mis-hit that shot. Once you start your back swin'g, You brain knows you're out of balance, and tells your thigh muscles "Stand up". I give Rick ton of credit. He's teaching and not worrying about where the ball is landing...he's showing the good, the bad and ugly...
Genius. Another video by Rick that I really could have done with seeing 10 years ago!
I love how you explain every shots , even when sometimes you're shots don't go exactly where you want them to ! For us less than perfect players , this makes us feel really good ! We know exactly what you are trying to say and understand what you are trying to show us ! We understand that when we try , it's not going to be perfect, the first time ! My nemesis has always been the downhill lies , you explained it perfectly , how it needs to be played! Thank you , Patrick
Next time I'm about to make a shot, I would ask myself how Rick would do it and how he'd explain it. I believe sometimes we don't plan the shot and that ends up pretty bad most of the time
Rick I must say this is one of the most useful videos you’ve ever made. I struggle with at least two of the four scenarios and will ingrain your four types of shots. Wonderful.
Very well done. When I don’t golf for a while, I get a sloped lie then blow it then after say I didn’t tilt my body to the slope! Now, I realize I probably didn’t do the other three things correctly either.🤣😅😊
Rick and Golf mates the only channels you need.
Love the intro, you're amazing, and have a great day😀!
I have always struggled with ball above and below my feet and you explained the set up in a very clear way, played 9 today and put it to use and noticed a huge improvement. Thanks Rick!
How do you not love this guy ? Well spoken , the accent and solid advice . Keep up the good work Rick . We appreciate you in Beaverton , Oregon .
The most practical video I have been looking for
Quality Rick
Probably the best 13 minute any golfer could ever have 👍👍👍
I don't mind Rick tooting his horn about hitting close shots as long as he keeps showing us his crappy shots too :)
Which is exactly what he does! Honest and transparent
@@Kameleonband d*fffffffff
I always like Rick's videos. Well not always, only when Rick tells me to like it. Keep up the good work
Best golf Chanel by far, now if I could only take Rick out on the course with me 😂
Such high quality, and well organized content. Really appreciate the straightforward practical approach to learning.
okay, I've avoided this video because I thought I could handle it, but I've ended up in so many slopes, so I'm here, teach me British golf man.
This guy is actually the best golf teacher, I enjoy his video format / style
I'm left handed, so I love it when you talk "front" and "back" instead of left and right. Front and back help me understand the tips better. Love your tips.
*Rick, i heard there is a new club that automatically adjusts to different lies, would love for you to review!* 😃
Definitely
Especially if you cut it open to see the inside!
illegal
Please do this Rick
What sorcery is this? Haha
Rick, best lesson I've seen on this topic and one which most weekend duffers have no clue about. One other thing I was taught about downhill lies is that you should take some practice swings to see where they bottom out. My first couple are always too far behind the ball even if I think I'm set up properly. Would explain some comments here about people chunking shots. Keep up the good work.
I've been waiting for this one for so long! Thanks Rick! 😊
Cheers ! Well explained. Tnx.
Great advice bee doing all these things for some years now and been asked by friends how a play those lies so well👍🏻
Only thing is I never get a lie like you did in the video😂😂😂😂👍🏻
Great video Rick, will be really helpful. One question - I note you don’t mention ball position at all...I had been told this needed to change but you feel it should be exactly as it would be on a flat lie?
Great video!
This is epic stuff, thanks mate!
Great tips. I keep forgetting the direction the ball goes on uphill versus downhill lies. I'm printing off these tips on a card and sticking on my golf cart so I remember.. Age makes us forget, we'll at least me. Love to see more of this style of golf tips on the channel. The graphics really help and the reasoning behind it. Thanks a bunch Rick. My game has seriously improved since I started watching your channel last year. Keep it up!
Dr Izzy Justice says anyone after a lesson forgets 90% of it, but recalling it at night before sleep helps reinforce. Or write it down as you have done. So not necessarily an age thing.
For someone who lives in Alabama, this is helpful! Lots of hills and elevation changes here.
marnus agrella “lives” in Alabama... not FROM Alabama troll
I love that you zoomed into the green so we could see where the ball settled... That's one thing I wish these golf videos would do... Especially when clubs are reviewed
Help a lot thank you Rick
Rick, you're down to earth and comfortable in your own skin. I like the fact that you are not superhuman; you're not the one-armed robot that engineers built to test clubs and golf balls. It always hits the ball straight; you don't. This was a good, informative show for uphill, downhill, etc lies; it wasn't about those compound lies where a golfer sees downhill - sidehill lies. However, I learned a lot and I enjoyed learning from someone who hits balls like "The Golf-a-holics," buit doesn't talk like he hits 'em like Ben Hogan. You have 1.28M subscribers because we can relate to you. You're one of us & you never talk down to us. That's big.
Also, you are almost as good at hitting the stray & woodsy shots as Arnold Palmer. I think that's because you're a creative not a determined plodder like "Sweet Swing" Peter Finch. Finch will hit two straight balls with perfect form and wind up ten yards shy of the green. From there, he's lucky to two putt. You, on the other hand, will hit some "Wild Kingdom", off into the jungle shot off the tee, and then, you'll curve a ball off a branch leaving yourself with a birdie putt. While I admire & envy Peter's swing, I like that you can recover from your screw-ups. To me, that's more the sign of a master teacher than a guy who doesn't have the brains to aim at the flag instead of the edge of the green. Cheers.
Whose still waiting to see his putting green 🖐

Fantastic We get lots of these awkward lies Thanks for the great video😊
Love this video, super helpful!
Ah yes, a very well made tutorial with good tips for golfers. Only problem, I don't golf. Still watched the whole video though.
It seems like a lot of people watch his videos that don’t golf. Maybe give it a try!
@@brynziegeman4203 Eventually I want to. But I'm gonna have anxiety about holding up the people behind me and "proper golf etiquette" and stuff.
Mills Jank everyone in golf is very understanding about the fact that it’s a sport for everyone from beginners to pros. You are off to a great start watching Rick and learning his course etiquette. Make sure you watch all his course vlogs, those will help a ton! Also find a friend who can take you who might be already a golfer so they can fill in the blanks
@@GoudaFetaExpandDong Go to a TopGolf location with some friends who golf, or a little Par 3 course nearby. Once you get comfortable hitting the ball, you'll be less anxious about all the people around you.
@@SirVic42 Ya, only issue is that I'm a 22 year old so all my friends are recluse aside from work and play video games in their free time (this also describes me). I have an uncle who golfs but he lives in Michigan. :\
The last time I was this early, Rick didn't have a beard .
I heard there are sonogram images of inutero Rick WITH a close shave.
Great video! Thanks for putting this on!
Thanks you Rick Great video
I love how I’m spending time learning this instead of how to properly hit a golf ball of a flat lie 😂
Match against @gm_golf coming soon, hopefully
I'd like to see Rick vs Golf Sidekick!
Briliant video..thank you!
I like it that your videos are authentic. Good shots, bad shots, you keep rolling. Same with club and ball testing, no sponsored videos. Pure authentic
How does Rick always find these incredibly empty holes on a course lol.
@Frat Boy Fishing I often wondered the same thing. Someone responded with an early morning tee time.
He films early, so either before the public tee off, or he films on holes that the earliest tee times won’t have reached yet
I think it's his back garden with all the UA-cam money 😂
As a lefty, this just confused me 😅
Can you flip the video around lol
I am a lefty, just imagine you are looking in a mirror!
God confused you lefty. Lol. Good day to You.
I'm right hand and still have watched 4 times.
As a lefty, I just watch and do what I do when my wife speaks to me: the opposite!
Great vid
Really needed to hear/see this !! Thx Rick
Great video. Very well explained, thank you😊

Best video I've ever watched Rick. No wiffle waffle just clear, concise and perfect.
