2023 Chevy Colorado Trailboss | Worth the Price Tag?

  • Today I get a hands on, first look at the 2023 Chevy Colorado Trailboss. This is the latest midsize pickup truck to receive an all new generation. The Trailboss trim gets the widebody, lift, and some off road capable parts but does it sacrifice too much on the interior to make it a livable daily driver? Personally, I believe this trim isn't a great value due to the interior materials and the packaging. Make sure to see my comparison videos covering the Colorado and Canyon for more information of the Trailboss and other trims.

    If I am taking a payment book I would order every single option. I could get in this truck. That's one thing I was taught when I was younger by my father. If you buy something make sure it is what you want and the way you want

    I like the Trail Boss because its the cheapest off road version of the 2023 twins. Its the cheapest price for the 2" lift, 3" wider track, and for $400 you can get the most powerful tune for the engine called the High Output with 310hp and 430 foot pounds of torque.

    Trail boss is nice. I like how they don't use led lights all around. Just the 4 cylinder is a major let down. For 40 thousand price, you can get a V8 pickup.

    Great looking truck. I bought my 2015 Colorado new and put a 2" level kit and 1.5" rear blocks in it (similar to a trail boss). Excited to see these come out.

    Great job 👍. I have been looking for this video for a while now. I ordered a trail boss a few weeks ago. So far looks to be a great truck. I only wish for LED lighting. At least make it optional without having to upgrade to a Z71 or get a loaded LT. Thank you!

      Thank you! Hopefully we can drum up enough demand for a standalone option on the TB. Hopefully I didn't make it sound too bad on the inside. 😅 I was hoping to see the Canyon Elevation trim in person but unfortunately that is not present at the show. AT4 video coming shortly though!

      Hey brotha did they give you any info about when you would get the truck?

    • @jwalldren
      @jwalldren Рік тому

      They said 6 to 8 weeks "turnaround time" so from order date to delivery from my understanding of it. In today's world 🌍 of supply chain and delays I can definitely see that date pushed further a few weeks if not months. Crossing my fingers 🤞 that I get to receive it here soon at the end of March.

      That’s not too bad hopefully man! Did they give you any info on pricing? I talked to a dealer yesterday and they said they couldn’t give me any info on pricing yet. Hopefully they don’t have some crazy dealer mark ups.

    • @jwalldren
      @jwalldren Рік тому

      @@J3Imperial Well my dealer gave me MSRP.... however they did tack on 3k worth of dealership accessories like window tint, ppf, and interior stuff. I haven't financed anything yet...if you go and order one make sure you get paperwork stating the price so they cant rip you off when the truck arrives. Out the door taxes and everything will be about 47k with the truck having a 40k MSRP. Hope this helps and good luck!

    GM really cheapened the trail boss branding with this

    Ordered a Z71 because of the spartan options on the TB. I wish they would have offered the widebody and lift on the Z71 as an option. Could tell the difference in height? (It is tough to see in pictures and videos)

    • @CarsMadeSimple
      @CarsMadeSimple  Рік тому +2

      It was very tough to tell without looking for the height difference especially because Chevy brought this Z71 with the flares. I might look a little closer tomorrow but it does seem higher off the ground. I was hoping to see the Canyon Elevation here also but GMC only brought the AT4.

    • @Steven-xj2rf
      @Steven-xj2rf Рік тому +1

      @@CarsMadeSimple I will be curious if you like the AT4 interior over the Z71. I am not sure about that orangish brown accents in the AT4. The black red looks great in pictures and videos. Also if you look at those flares between the two. The TB flares look thicker. I wonder how much different the suspension is to make them wider.

      @@CarsMadeSimple That is something I'm interested in as well. When looking at the Z71 and the Trail Boss, is the wide stance and lift noticeable? I'd also like your opinion on comparing the Z71 and AT4 interior as well.

    • @Steven-xj2rf
      @Steven-xj2rf Рік тому +1

      @@mgarver8149 I am thinking I will put spacers and 27565R18 BFG KO2s on it to make have a little more of that TB stance but nice features of the Z71, but wonder if I should have just got a AT4.

    • @CarsMadeSimple
      @CarsMadeSimple  Рік тому +1

      I will film a quick follow up video on this tomorrow going directly between the Z71 and AT4 trucks to see what my final thoughts are. Once they are in inventory, I can literally compare them side by side since I have access to both brands. That might not be for months however.

      @@CarsMadeSimple did you get a chance to sit in it? Just looking for a comparison from the new seats compared to the outgoing model. My seats in my 19 Zr2 are terribly uncomfortable. I really hope they have improved the driving position and comfort on the new Colorado.

      @CarsMadeSimple  Рік тому

      @@joshnelson2090 Yes I sat in the Trailboss and Z71 (Along with the Canyon AT4). I think these seats are nice improvement over that of the outgoing model. The ingress and egress with the side plastics will be easier given the bolster isn't quite a low as the plastic trim in the older model. Seats are always tough to judge because everyone's body type is different.

    I ordered a TB mainly for the lift and price difference but after seeing them side-by-side, I kind of wish I sprung for the Z71 for the nicer interior. Did the TB interior feel cheap? I am fine with hard touch materials if they feel sturdy

    • @CarsMadeSimple
      @CarsMadeSimple  Рік тому +1

      I can't say for sure how durable and sturdy everything will be on the final production units. It should be ok however being a brand new model nothing is ever 100% at launch. As long as you are ok with hard touch materials I would expect overall good build quality.

    That super simple interior of the Trail Boss is exactly what off road use trucks should look like. Super simple, no back massaging seats, as few buttons as possible and cheaper interior materials, which you don't mind getting dirty and are easier to clean or replace.

    Very informative video, these Colorado's and Canyon's are a true rip off from GM, I have a 2017 Silverado HD LT package, pretty well equipped , I paid $47K with tax, the Trail Boss exceeds that, I'll be driving my Silverado till the wheels come off, then I'll buy a late model truck, and not necessarily a GM product, these automakers can go to hell
