- In this video, we discuss the recent announcement from Disney regarding a 1.5 billion dollar partnership with Epic Games. This will act as a new universe in which Star Wars games will be created and marks Lucasfilm finally going back to Multiplayer for Star Wars Games. But, it's definitely not what we wanted at all.

I want a Star Wars RPG and it seems like we wont be getting this until Kotor sorts their shit out. The Jedi series and the new Outlaws game are more action adventure than a true RPG. The last true RPG we got in Star Wars was Kotor 2 in 2004. No reason they cant have multiple studios making different types of games and quite frankly its just a complete fumble of the IP.

This is why I play Galactic Contention mod on Squad. A fan made mod for Squad that is becoming quite popular as of the past few months. Highly recommend for those that want a Star Wars Clone Wars era tactical FPS where team work is key.

From what I've seen Galactic Contention looks awesome. I hope in the future Squad will add offline with AI too! Not only am I a fan of Star Wars but I am also a fan of Military games so besides Galactic Contention Squad has always caught my eye.

When I saw the announcement, I wanted to cry.... The small glimmer of hope I had died. The future of Star Wars is sealed to be the forgotten franchise that'd occasionally be remembered as, "remember that movie series with the glow sticks and short green guy?". 😖
Disney doesn't care about Star Wars, period. Battlefront 3 won't be happening because EA and DICE wants to focus on their core IPs and sees that as a non-profitable venture because if they can't add Battlepass and Microtransactions, then isn't successful in their eyes and there isn't much incentive to do so. Disney's care not on the gaming space, they care on their movies, shows, and streaming which ultimately lead to people go to their parks and hotels.
This whole thing is them desperately trying to push gaming space as a viable source of revenue but is failing.
Rather than investing on multiple game projects with their IPs, including Star Wars, they are going for a collab and get as many normies and their kids' eyes into a metaverse like space with Fortnite.

You should play Galactic Contention on Squad, it recently had a massive overhaul and is basically the people's battlefront 3. It's absolutely amazing you would love it!

Disney Infinity 3.0 might be the most underrated "Star Wars" game out there. The sandbox elements were amazing and the possibilities for future instalments were endless. I wish they'd kept expanding on that idea
But it was very polished maybe if they put both games together Star Wars infinite and Star Wars battlefront it might be a good game only time will tell 😮

Literally was about to comment "So that means Battlefront 3?" but then watched the video a bit more and saw that this topic was already covered. Wow man, just goes to show how much people want the Battlefront series to be revived.
I never felt like I could fully trust Disney not to fumble Star Wars bc at the end of the day they are more concerned with making money than with the spirit of the IP, and it bums me out to feel like this distrust is validated.
Not even Star Wars will get me to pick up Fortnite guys 😭 my one hope is that maybe this will at least do well enough to encourage more money put into SW games in the future..? There’s so much more you can do with the Star Wars universe than one off cosmetics/events in BR games, cameos and shallow fanservice. 😢

I think a lot of us are in the same boat, feeling the same way you are with Star Wars. I used to be a massive fan of Star Wars and get excited for any games, movies, toys, the lore, etc and now I just don’t care anymore been over it for so long now.

It was also nearly 7 years ago. The game had a full comeback since then and is the most requested game we have. They’re so far behind the 8 ball.
i recently finished clone wars and bad batch and those two shows saved SW a little bit for me. thrilled for BB season 3. but yeah, most SW content is not enjoyable anymore

I want a single player story in the Star Wars universe with Local Co-op (up to 4 players. Maybe even some online co-op (and mix of both) to offset some of the player numbers)
And or.
I want an official Star Wars game like the game X4 but with planetary gameplay.
Think X4, meets Mount and Blade, meets the elder scrolls, meets No Man Sky.
I want to play politics, or build a business, or go of to some corner of the galaxy and build my own Droid army.
And the ability to freely fly my ship (once my character can afford one. As it be almost as fun to play rags to riches) in atmosphere as well as space
(I don’t mind if transition from high orbit to space and vice versa has a loading screen, or even taking off from ground to planetary flight)
It’s what I’m looking forward too the most in Star Wars Outlaws
But I also want to be able to “mess with the Star Wars timeline” so to speak.
Like founding the first galactic empire right before Palpatine can. (Maybe even have a fun interaction where he gets mad, than you have to defend your “empire” from him. lol
Or even steal or make your own clone army.

So, I know everyone is mostly going to run to the "Disney is dumb" train and take that as far as they can go... but...
I would be willing to bet there is more to the lack of a BF3 than just "Disney is Dumb". And I get it.
It sounds like a smart play. After the patching and alterations to the OG release, BF2 got good. But that in part is also the problem.
BF2 had a hell of a launch. In a very, very bad way. It caused such a mess that EA was being dragged to courts and sued for involving gambling for younger audiences. But EA is not the only one that got flack for this. Disney got flack for this. Even if you didn't see it on the outside, they would have been hit just as hard if not harder.
Again, I get it. People want BF to be good and to keep going. But the gaming industry is STILL an industry and Disney is not the all mighty god of decision-making people make them out to be.
They are beholdent to their investors and partners. They don't comb social media to find the next best title they should be producing and if they do, they have to pitch that to investors. Investors who were convinced to support BF2 and witness and suffer from losses over the legal nightmare that game generated at launch. People really do not comprehend how much AAA studios and big companies like EA and Disney have to base their entire venture on opening sales/support.
I would like to talk about Starbase as a less common example from a studio much smaller than what EA possesses. They had, though a solid game and concept, a buggy launch that drove away 90% of its players. Other factors played into the downfall of the game, but the hit they took from the launch mess sealed the deal. And the following financial loss they suffered not long after that launch just drove the nail in the coffin.
These companies rely on these upfront returns to justify market value and keep investors interested. You are talking about an industry and company with so many hands involved in the financial state of its projects that one slip up can shut a project down, just like it killed the BF2 Live Service. Now, yes, we also know that the team was pulled away for another game/title that was ultimately worse than BF2 was at launch. It was another failed project and it to would bring a world of hurt to the company.
Point is, this isn't black and white like it is being painted to be. And I get it, when you don't know what is going on, your instinct is to just find the most logical conclusion you can to justify the situation even if the conclusion if flawed and based on a lack of knowledge. I can tell you all it is not hard to learn about some of this stuff. Take a few minutes and just watch videos about how AAA studios work internally, interviews, etc. There are going to be outliers and situations that are just plain dumb decision making.
Even if by a remote chance Disney has contracted a BF3, we are not going to hear about it in the near future. They won't push any related content until they get closer to a release date or they have enough to market trailers and clips.

For companies so money-oriented, they seem to be doing everything but the most profitable option. It seems as if they don't want to be seen as a company who panders to their audience for some reason

I think Disney saw what Fortnite did with Lego recently and Disney wants to make a universe as well maybe similar in a way to Kingdom Hearts but not at the same time. This could be Disney taking its first major step in the right direction into gaming. There is a somewhat war between Disney and their shareholders right now. Disney needed to announce something because voting for new Disney board members is in April and it could change Disney completely if the vote doesn’t go towards Disneys side. Epic games could make Star Wars games outside of Fortnite with Disney.
Like what Sony did to SWG though I think we could use a new updated SWG.

Not excited at all for this. They just collab with gaming studios that make the big money. The star wars game under epic will probably contain battle pass or bunch of microtransactions which I strongly dislike. I moved on to other less depressing games. Once I am home, I will start catching up on all FromSoftware games. I don't know if will even buy outlaws, probably on sale because those Triple A studios need to be stopped with their strong monetization in video games
Honestly I'm not looking forward to anything past Star Wars Outlaws. I've completely stopped trying to follow Star Wars TV and have no plans on getting Disney Plus even now.
Disney has made it clear they are old and don't know what they are doing, they are out of touch with Star Wars and Marvel fans entirely. Personally, I think that we could've already had multiple games for Star Wars instead of the few games we got in recent years.
Really a Battlefront 3 would solve a lot of problems for Star Wars games if done right and would give Disney what they desire, money. Even a Battlefront 3 with seasons and a battle pass, wouldn't be that bad if they made heroes earnable without the BP like Overwatch does.

I'm saying that a Battlefront 3 with a battle pass that is purely cosmetically optional wouldn't be bad because then the company with the game would be getting funds to keep up the game and those who WANT to get it can.
Look at games like Overwatch, Fortnite, For Honor, Apex....all with Battle Passes that people buy for the hell of it and the companies still support the game.
We've been dealing with Battle Passes for nearly 2-3 years now, it's now a part of the industry to a degree.

Fact of the matter is that Star Wars games have been few and far between now and it's a shame we aren't going to have a Battlefront 3 in some capacity to fill the void.

I would pay 40€ for a GA dedicated game and another 40€ for a HVV dedicated game, we got squadrons already why not that, yeah Squadrons didn't work out but its design was bad and there aren't so many starfighter fans out there also.

- Larian saying they will never go live-service.
- The only GOTY to be live-service (not as intense as today) was OverWatch in 2016

Battlefront is never coming back. It doesn't matter how big of a comeback it had. The launch completely tainted the name. If we’re ever going to see a game in that scale, it’ll be something new. There is NO chance of a new Battlefront. Never has been.
I’m somewhat optimistic about this. If you ever played Disney Infinity 3.0, the Star Wars stuff in that was pretty fun. I’m not big on Fortnite, but this could be a separate thing on it’s own too. It’s the closest we’ve got to an announcement for a new live service Star Wars game.

Go to the College of Winterhold (The Jedi Temple). Want to learn how to be a scoundrel? Go to a big spaceport bar. Star Wars games have been sleeping on so many things that we have ben asking for since 2006.
