@@laverniustucker8198 cancelled battlefront 2 for battlefield 2042 that’s all you need to see. Since then we have had only Jedi games and numerous games cancelled. When promised games from EA and then they cancel it destroys the hope of the players as well as their reputation as a company

There is one reason why EA doesn’t want to do Star Wars live service games and focus on their own titles and only one.
They simply can’t get away with egregious monetisation of Star Wars live service games, they learned that with Battlefront 2 and Disney’s CEO literally called them on the phone to set things straight. EA are so greedy that they don’t want to create a live service game that isn’t monetised to the absolute fullest and that’s also overseen by another much more powerful company.
Personally I think they were asked to re-up the franchise rights and realizing how Disney drove it to the ground wrongly assumed the games will suffer by association.
If I had a nickel for every mandalorian star wars game to get cancelled, Id have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
How is an iron man or black panther game going to do better than a mandalorian game. Who is even making these decisions.
After Jedi 3 Ill be done with EA star wars. They have done nothing but fumble the star wars license for 10 years. They cancelled more games than they have released.

Yep same, I could care less about the brand. I'm buying the classic battlefront collection they're dropping simply because I know that game can't be topped. But Disney / EA have completely lit my desire to care about this franchise anymore on fire. From their shows to their movies and games, constant disappointment.

They cancelled battlefront 2 support because they don't want live service games and want to focus on single player experiences then made Dice go work on battlefield 2042 (another live service game that was dead on arrival). EA sucks
And now they're cancelling those games to revert back to what people have been telling them for years. Unbelievable

We should do something. Not just sit in our homes and be sad. but what could we do? This is just so messed up...
There is not much we can do. When EA said they want to focus on their existing IPs, they actually meant FIFA/FC where they make the most money. So we can only try to convince other people to stop buying games from these triple A developers and show how bad microtransactions influence the industry just like in this case.

@@md20062While I will admit that I’ve utterly confused by the entire saga that is Skull + Bones, I have to say you’ve made what I think is a reasonably hopeful point. Disney also trusted Ubisoft with Indiana Jones, a very big show of trust.

Not why they canceled the game. EA doesn’t want to pay for Disney ips anymore and they want to move to live service multiplayer games. Other EA games have tons of employees working on them yet they aren’t being canceled
EA doesn’t want to make star wars games … so they start by making the fans not want to play Star Wars games (fairly simple practice but it happens to work)

Maybe they cancelled because they wana do Star Wars Battlefront 3? And given how popular Battlefront Collection is doing with the interest maybe they wana focus on that makes sense to me.

Honestly they think that if they make a game that everybody wants, it’s gonna flop. It will only flop if you put stupid things in it. How can you say you’re in development for a new game and totally scrap it half way through when it’s not even made fully or released.

For years i’ve been waiting for a Star Wars Character Creation MMO RPG game to hit console and we’ll never get it. We’ll never be able to explore the expansive Star Wars universe as our own jedi/sith/mandelorian/ anything with friends and create our own story. They tried with old republic and that shifted from being an proper mmo to just a character creation rpg. I want something genuine that I can play for years and feel like it’s never gotten old. I’ve always said and still say that once a proper Star Wars character creation mmo rpg comes out I will stop playing every other game and I mean that but alas that will never happen. Guess I’ll just have to keep spending my money on games I’ll play for a few weeks and then drop.
I don't understand why anyone is surprised. I've been telling people for years EA is not interested in making star wars games.
It’s EA, what do you expect? They pretend they’re going to bring out some of most amazing games and all we ever get is games tailored to extract as much money out of the customer with putting in the least amount of content/effort.

Well considering the dire state the franchise is in (thank you KK) and how game budgets have increased to unsustainable proportions, I think that EA is dodging a really huge bullet with this one. Especially in the realm of making AAA games based on licensed IP's, if the recent Insomniac leaks are anything to consider.
Think about it, let's say that this Mando game gets made, everyone loves it, but EA executives say "it didn't meet our expectations". After that
files leak and show the massive budget that went into this game with the sales not making up for it. This will in turn lead to massive layoffs (or even respawn shutting down) in order to "cut corners".
I'd argue that EA is making the "wrong" decisions for the right reasons. But hey, at least black panther, iron man and the 3rd jedi game are continuing development. 👌
So sad for the employees, ugh why EA , im happy at least the liscense is open but ugh

at this point it is only worth to report about star wars games the day after they released, so you can be sure that it is actually released and not canceled on the very same day it was supposed to be released

They say you're just like the people you're friends with, so I can see why Disney gave EA out of all the game production companies the rights to make star wars games.
I hate this as much as you all do but to be fair there has been a lot of shit going down in the gaming industry lately even giants like Sony and Microsoft aren't immune and have fired an insane amount of employees with Sony even shutting down many PS exclusives and an entire studio altogether as of yesterday. This doesn't justify the cancellation of the 100th star wars game in a row or the firing of employees but it speaks volumes as to where the industry is heading and to be honest this new direction is really upsetting.
Im happy Disney didn't renew the contract with EA to exclusively make SW games. Ubisoft and Others have an actual shot at making bangers now

I *guarantee* you this is because of how successful Elden Ring (Open world) and especially Hell Divers (Live service) have been.
The CEO is so delusional he really thinks that the issue is the game types they are making, not the fact that EA has just been making lazy cash cows.
Think about this, if EA shut down the mandalorian project to focus on another live service, you said that star wars games made more money for them lately than any other.... which game would they work on now because it just resently became so popular that it blew other games out of the water...

Thought experiment: what if EA is right, and the people screaming for multiplayer live-service Star Wars, as well as an FPS Mando game, is somehow a loud minority and games like Jedi Survivor make way more money in relation to the amount of money spent making it?
I believe we should be understanding in terms of business. EA is a company and sometimes companies have to make tough decisions. That being said, they should really stop announcing games so early. Only announce games you know are going to reach release
