- Took one of my unfinished curs out for a training session and here is what happened. Doesn’t seem to go crazy over squirrel, but has developed a liking for treeing coon

Enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing, keep looking up!
Thanks for watching
Great video. And thanks for the tip on the drag. Will be doing that this week.
Glad I could help. It helps getting them looking and barking up, which was good for this one because he didn’t like barking and didn’t check trees much before this.
THX MAN GREAT VIDEO NICE CUR DOG SOUNDS GOOD MAN KEEP IT UP.
Thank you and thanks for watching
Great video. Thanks for rhe tips
Thank you and thanks for watching
He likes those coon. Got him treeing pretty good.
Yep, he sounds good I hope he continues progressing.
Very informative
Tree dogs 👍
The first tip on going where he was interested and looking up but not barking helped me a lot. My young dog (17 months) is like that but when he does bark you can bet there's meat in the tree. I'll tie him back a few times to keep him on it and barking more. He's just the opposite of his mom who barks on a hot scent before she actually locates the squirrel. Barking and running from tree to tree in a smallish area, about 30 yards. Kinda works well as a team since he will pinpoint it but I'd like to tighten her up some. Any ideas on that? Thanks for putting out good quality videos with helpful information and to the point.
I’m not really sure, usually in my experience the amount one opens on the track is more of a genetic trait with that individual dog that can’t be changed much. I’ve seen some open less on the ground the more you’ve shot out to them, but not always the case.
looks like a Stephens Stock mountain cur
Thunder breeding with a walker for a grandparent
@@stark_outdoors good looking dog can you still register them with walker in them? I'm new to the tree dog world so I know nothing 😄. I just picked up my first mountain cur puppy female out of WV Nelson bloodline
@@davidperkins1660 yes you can with certain registries
@@stark_outdoors was that cross made on purpose, do you think it improved on the curs nose and do you think having walker in him will make him work further out? I only ask because I've considered a cross myself because close cur breeders seem to be hard to find where I live ( SE KENTUCKY). I noticed that crossing breeds is almost unherd of in the coon hunting world but in the bear & lion hound world it seems pretty common. thanks for your time I subed.
@@davidperkins1660 I assume it helped if the walker was a good one. I’ve never cross bred dogs before but I assume if you breed quality to quality you get good results. And I’d also assume if makes them go further. Thank you for subbing
😊😊cool
.How long or how many times do you think you can use that coon before it is no longer effective scent wise and you need to get a different one?
I usually keep a few froze up to use for these purposes and have some hides tanned that you can cover with coon scent. Different companies sell the coon scent in bottles. You can use one quite a bit as long as you either preserve it or freeze it when you aren’t using it. Just make sure you get it out of the freezer so it can fully thaw. If I can still smell it when it’s thawed I know for sure the dog can lol
What breed of cur dog is this. I love a good tree dog. Thanks!!!!
Treeing cur it’s one grandparent was a walker rest of dogs are mountain curs In his pedigree
Razor Franklin breeding
@@davidjones9518 no ThunderSports Cain and dogs older in the pedigree than razor
How's he doing now he seems like he is gonna be one that will have the meat when he trees
He’s doing pretty good
Your channel is growing keep up the good work .. really enjoy your channel do you prefer curs over hounds ?
Thank you and I just prefer brains and personality. I don’t care what breed it is. I don’t like super high strung idiots like some hounds are.
@@stark_outdoors absolutely
Man you hung that coon way too low. You just taught him to “ jack the tree”. Better be careful with that. Good looking dog
He treed just fine the one time I did this with him. I only do this once to get a dog fired up to actually bark up when he previously wouldn’t bark at all. Last night he treed a coon so it must of helped.
