Icky Thump was a very underrated Album at the time, although I loved it but it's really grown into a true classic coming from someone who loves their early stuff now it's one of my favourite albums of theirs
I love what Jack does with just Meg there. Having played in more than a few bands and engineered cd projects in studio, I have to say that forcing the whole band structure into every project, usually stifles the expression and creativity of the talented writers in the band. Jack was very smart in not allowing his expression to be held back due to having to be democratic. Having to let each band member have their say usually dilutes the intensity of the music, not always but usually.
jade rozner There are two ways to deal with that, the way Jack dealt with it, or the way Sloan does it and just let everyone write their own songs, and put together what works for each album

I'm just stuck on him, his music to be specific.. as to Jolene, I've always H.A.T.E.D. that song UNTIL I heard his rendition.. his raw emotion just fit that song PERFECTLY.. IF I must listen to Jolene, JW is the ONLY way I can endure it.. plus I get jack so.. double win..

I would have preferred this as an instrumental. I like the singer's voice, but the quickness of his singing seem to ruin the mellowness of the formerly mellow intro.

I completely agree...however...this may have been part of the breakdown between the two of them, imo.
jack and meg manage to get a fuller sound out of just guitar and drums than alot of 3 piece bands manage!!

That guitar sounds FANTASTIC!!!
I would say that some of their live performance's of songs sound better than what was recorded in the studio.
