    And bro, your daughter was so adorable! That was a cool moment. I appreciated her childlike, straightforward approach to classifying leather texture😆 I should learn from that and not overcomplicate things🤣

    The grant stone’s lasts look perfect for my feet shape and I agree to full leather thru and thru. Another enjoyable invaluable review, thank you aerosurferlv! The Edwards look like they’re made for me.

    Really enjoy the videos. I have been doing my research to buy my first pair of quality boots. Because they will be my go to pair, I would like them to be versatile. Can be worn casually on a night out but also business casual to wear to work.
    I like the Diesel Boot in Dark Walnut Chromexcel. (Or perhaps the chocolate cap toe in calf).
    I was hoping for your opinion if either pair would be versatile to fit a lot of outfits/situations? Maybe another suggestion for boots comes to mind?

    • @DalesLeatherworks
      @DalesLeatherworks  3 роки тому +2

      thanks man!!! i would say 100% that the Diesels in Dark Walnut CXL are going to be a "do everything" boot because the plain toe makes it very casual and the color is versatile enough to be worn with nearly everything. The chocolate calfskin boot on the other hand is also a very solid choice, and because of the captoe will make it just slightly more applicable in formal situations than the Diesel. Trust me though as a boot nut myself I will tell you that at this point, both the captoe and plaintoe are super interchangeable. Both are styles that are applicable in nearly every imaginable situation (except a tuxedo lol)

    I have several boots from various brands and my Grant Stone Diesels are my favorite. They are very well made and the leather is extremely high quality. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. I'm definitely eyeing the Edward boot.

    Where did you find those gray leather laces featured on your storm kudu diesels!? I'm wanting to order a pair of storm kudus myself, but I noticed the GS stock photos depict what appears to be black leather laces. The matching gray laces look much better IMO.

    I have a pair of the Diesel Dune CXLs. They have a long ... or wide? .... or whatever upper on my foot so that when I lace them up, the two sides of the vamp come all the way together. Are the Edwards built that way, too?

    • @DalesLeatherworks
      @DalesLeatherworks  3 роки тому +1

      I believe the spacing on the eyelets is the same between the Edward and the diesel actually!

    The diesel does not have extra leather on the heel, it is sewn in on the edges. If you took off the heel piece there would be a hole in the boot, sorry just the facts!!!

      @Will-yp6ny Рік тому

      Well, you are completely wrong… where you get your facts from… here you go pal, same diesel saddle tan leather cut in half.. real piece of leather at the heel. ua-cam.com/video/9_bQcHlV7UM/v-deo.html

    May I ask how the Butyl leather outsoles are holding up on the Diesel boots ?
    I have a couple of Grant Stone shoes/boots, and I very much like them, but it seems like their Butyl leather outsoles wear our quicker than other shoemakers (like Allen Edmonds).
    Cheers..

      thanks so much for the kind words!!!!!! the GS leather soles have held up very well. i have my cobbler install some metal toe taps on them and they seem to last forever!!

    Hello. Sorry i'm kinda new to this. I've see a grant stone wax tobacco used and i was planning to buy it. My question is how do I restore it to its darker color? Should i just apply wax to it? Or can i apply cream polish dark brown from saphir after waxing? Cause i restored a used thuesday boots by just brushing, applying conditioner, and cream polish. I was wondering if the process is the same? Cause I like it darker tbh. Also, how does the GS edward boot compare with thursday captains? I had a captain in 10.5 which is slightly big but it fits if i just wear thicker socks and a heel grip. Is the GS edwards the same size and fit?

    4:58 the split at the bottom heel pocket is not decorative. They do this to more easily shape the leather into a boot before lasting it. It also makes it easier to last. I personally prefer not having it there but whatever.

    What do you find on the sizing, Grant Stone says to go down half a size on the Lodi last (correct me if I'm wrong) I bought the Ottawa and went down the half size. I had to have the stretched a few times. Any thoughts would be great. cheers...

    • @DalesLeatherworks
      @DalesLeatherworks  Рік тому

      It depends on what your true to size is. I wear 9 in slim dress shoes and the GS Leo and Floyd lasts are a generous but perfect fit at a half down generally speaking, but it all depends on what is true to size for you as a starting point

    One thing I've learned about GS boots is that their sizing is very stupid. It's all over the place and this inconsistency misguides you as a customer to make expensive mistakes. Very frustrating shopping experience.
