"THEN A BIG SNOW STORM CAME"!....(Shows an image of snowfall insufficient to deter a house cat). Seriously though, thanks for the review. These boots are on my list.
The finishing and clicking on GS boots and shoes are unreal for the price! Some people don't like that the boots are made in China but Wyatt is super open and honest about it. Check out what Ben from Stitchdown had to say about it! "the Brass is a perfect boot for someone who doesn’t have an overly large, “complete” collection. For them, it’s the boot that can cover a huge percentage of a small lineup’s wears through its versatility." Grant Stone punches well above it's weight in terms of build quality, finishing and materials. When I head back to the office, eventually, I'll be getting some of their derbies and oxfords for sure!
My black brass boots just came in last week. Can’t wait to lace them up. Beautiful boot. Love your channel. Have a couple other boots on my to buy list. GS diesel, Taylor Stitch trench boot and the Truman double shot. Can’t stop watching those videos on those boots. Want to see you do one on Taylor Stitch. Keep up the good work!
Finally someone who actually showed how they look on feet!! All these other youtubers just have the damn boot on the desk and they're talking about it.
So I picked up the Diesel in Saddle Tan. I was very impressed with not only the packaging but the quality of the boots. I am not at all disappointed with them.
The Grant Stone has really impressed me. I'd rather the Grant Stone over the Wolverine, Red Wing, and even over the Alden Indy boot. For the price and quality...one cannot beat the Grant Stone Brass Boot. Grant Stone is a formidable brand, I believe, fully competes and even surpasses the more established brands of today. Cannot go wrong with a Grant Stone product.
Listen I just bought that very Brass Dune boot in the ChromXl tanning and finish. When I say my boots are heavy my goodness. It’s weight indicates pure quality and craftsmanship. These boots are at 300.00 bucks still a value for serious shoe guys. You just have to deal with the sizing due to only online availability. I simply love the packaging what a class act Grant Stone is my new go to for my footwear seriously. Super sturdy and just beautiful.
Can you recommend thicker laces for Brass Boots? The ones they come with are very thin and flimsy. Do you really wear these beautiful boots in the rain and snow? Are they waterproof? i agree with you and others these are very heavy boots. Anything similar that are not so heavy? THX!
I love the look of the se boots but I'm having trouble finding pairs that have been well worn. That bulging toe looks great out of the box, but I have to wonder how outrageous it gets with wear and with an established crease in the boot. great review though and very nice outdoor action shots.
From the looks of it, all their boots seem to be extremely well made. The stitch density, choices of leather used and the finesse of the Grantstone boots is impressive.
This is fantastic review of a wonderful and well-made boot. Helped me to make the decision to buy them. Solid build, great material, substantial feel. Roomy and comfortable. You may need to get used to the weight they are luxury tanks on the feet.
Just for the record, I'm a near prefect 13 on the brannock, I own a pair of the Ottawa boots in size 12, and they fit like a glove. I also wear a 12 in the Iron Rangers. If you know your 'Red Wing size', it will probably be your 'Grant Stone size' as well. Too, Grant Stone are amazing boots. If you got 450$ to drop on a pair of shoes, make it a pair of Grant Stones. You won't regret it. Well, maybe during break-in. Worst of any boots I've ever owned. But it's worth it. Soooooooo worth it.
Looking at these as Alden's for 1/2 the price, and it's not bad at all. If somebody is really getting down on the floor at comic-con to count the stitches, I feel I'd have the right to kick them for it. Excellent looking pair, hope mine are just as good. The Made in China part disappointed me for a moment, then I looked at my phone, TV, Xbox, hell even my pen ... and realized I was being a bit silly.
Hey! Question, how would you compare these vs the field boot for New England winter boots to wear often? Does the field boot also have good water resistance?
From the looks of it, the brass boot will be better for water resistance since it has a split reverse welt and the field boot has a standard Goodyear welt. They’re on the same last (the Floyd last), so they should feel similar, but the field boot is also unlined in the shaft, so again the brass boot is probably the better choice for winter. Not to mention that stylistically the brass boot will be much more versatile in a city environment. Hope this helps :)
Hey William another enjoyable video... You do a great job and your boot passion is evident....I'm catching up on some of your video's... I have a pair of the forest green kudu's and they are awesome.... Very good looking boot.... I took the wax laces off and put a tan pair of leather laces on them picking up the welt and man they look good... Love the boots and they have a cap toe which looks great... For the money GS boots are really under valued.... Could not recommend them more.... Greg

I have the Ottawa boot in Crimson CXL and the Indy boot in brown CXL. As far as build quality, the Ottawa is almost identical in things such as finishing and stitch count. Absolutely tremendous value and the customer service at Grant Stone is amazing. I love my Alden 403’s but if you are looking for value per dollar, Grant Stone is an incredible option.

I bought a pair of the Crimson boots after returning a pair of Indy's because of horrible QC issues. I couldn't be happier. They are solid, well made, comfortable, and beautiful. Grant Stone has a good return policy with free shipping. If you try them on and they aren't for you, as long as they aren't creased & were worn on carpet, send them back.

The brass is heavier, though not by much. The weight doesn't really bother me. I would get the Diesel because it's more versatile. The Brass is amazing for winter, but I think the Diesel does better in spring and fall from a style perspective. That said, I love the Brass -- it's a fantastic boot. But the Diesel is one of my favorite boots ever.
So the sizing is a bit inaccurate. I just bought a pair of Ottawa’s and I wear size 10D in sneakers but when I went with a 9.5D it was too big. I went with the same size as my TBC boots and Cole Haan’s and it was too big. It fit but I would need to get some insoles for it to fit well. I went with a 9D and they fit perfectly. Also, the ball of the boot is wider than most other D width boots/shoes so you may not even need an E width in GS’s but the choice is always up to the buyer.
