When I was equipped with the SIG 220, we still shot with one hand. Fun at 50 meters. Then came the change and we shot two-handed and I was always really proud of the marksman's award pistol according to the old one handed program.. Two years ago, my shooter colleagues and I shot Feldschiessen with one hand again and I noticed that I pay much more attention to my breathing technique than when I rely on two hands and two arms.
Addicted to them, I own 5! One American one, one made for the German police, one in 30Luger, and two heavy duty 9mm made for the US market. Consecutive serial numbers.
I think it is so important to new shooters that you show yourself dealing with the jitters. I have had range days where it feels like *No Gun* fits my hands right (At least at the beginning). Everything seems wonky and wrong. The dry firing, talking yourself through the basics, I know I do these same things. I've also cleaned a gun at the range, just to do something familiar with that firearm, for a few minutes, to lose the janky feeling.
Thanks Bloke. I always enjoy footage featuring P210s, so I am really pleased to see you headcam "FPS" view of you shooting yours. Long ago, at Fenland Polytechnic, I had access to a club 9mm P210-6 with a full anatomical grip. I remember that being quite accurate too.
I always love it when there are ten bods on the firing point and instead of taking their own sweet time the first round down range seems to prompt every bugger else to think they all must fire as well in a Waterloo like volley. You fired that first round and there was a Mexican wave of fire just after you. 😄
Love the competition content, it’s what got me into your channel in the first place (and it makes me here in the States ever so jealous of your facilities). Excellent shooting, Bloke!
Nice shooting mate. I would love a P210 for service pistol matchs, currently have a Hammerli P240 in .32 (a P210 reworked for target shooting) for Centerfire matchs.
I think that is an interesting course of fire. I wish more people would get better at that kind of pistol shooting before they start with the fast, action oriented events. Thanks, Bloke! Edit to ask: What brand/sort of ammunition were you using for this match? Thanks!
The trick is to go for an even blacker glare-free black on the sights. Quite a few bullseye shooters here in the US use a center hold on black bullseyes with black sights at 25 and 50 yards… soot those sights with smoke from a carbide lamp, burning masking tape, or even a burnt plastic spoon, and you will have deep black sights that contrast well against the grayish-black of a sunlit outdoor target.
A good revolver is really good for this type of shooting! I'm regularly shooting a somewhat similar course of fire at 25 meters in Germany, but in our small regional championship between clubs we're free to use everything from 9mm to .45 ACP. I used to shoot a 6" CZ conversion that is a pretty good 9mm target pistol. Then I bought a used S&W 686 and my average ring count went up from 355 to 370 of 400. That's a huge deal. With the 9mm I was low mids in the championship ranking, but over 370 is top ten levels (in our region). I think it's the fact that this 686 has an excellent trigger. It's been tuned by a gunsmith as far as I know and it's just above the required 1kg. It makes a huge difference!
Btw. our precision targets are smaller than this Feldschiessen target. We're using the olympic sport pistol (women's) target for 20 rounds of bull's eye and the olympic rapid fire target (men's) for 20-second series (5 shots in 20 seconds). The pros at the national level still puncture the 10 on all targets with their .45 semi wadcutters and battle each other around 396-400 🤣
@@maximilianmustermann5763 I've always found 9mm to be much harder to shoot well than .38 special full wadcutters for this kind of event. I used to own a Model 14 and a 586; both shot very well for me.
@@derekp2674 Can't use .38 sp in our competition, it's considered smaller than 9x19 and under the minimum caliber. Most of the guys who are serious about this competition use .45 ACP hand loaded semi-wadcutters from a 6" 1911. I'd say the revolver is just as good, but the downside is it makes smaller holes on paper (and in this case it's a disadvantage because a "touched" ring counts as the higher value)
225x150x50 mm Would rds be allowed if the box fits? Sadly no chance for some long slides and a pre 2015 SP-01 with a bit of barrel sticking out and the long beavertail it's at the edge. Nice shooting from the dark into bright light.
Sooo, 27, 47, 49, 49 points dropping 8 out of 180 possible for 172-score with a stock P-210... 0~o Simply brilliant I'd say. ^~^ Mine would be, "one, two skip a few we're done". >~
Kind of like our US Bullseye competition, but you get to use both hands! Our course of fire is 10 rounds in 10 minutes times 2, at 50 yd. Slow-fire, 25 yd timed fire 5 rounds in 20 seconds X 2, rapid fire 25 yds. 5 rnds. In 10 seconds. X 2. One handed, over the course with .22, any center fire and .45 ACP. Many if not most shooters fire double .45. Total possible score is 2700, but no one has ever shot a perfect score. There have been a rarified few who have done 2650, and a couple of gods who went 2670+. The NRA National pistol matches were shot over 120 years every July at Camp Perry, Ohio, recently moved to another venue, to my dismay. Traditions are important....
Quick question, what do you think about the Kessler 210 Schlagfedermutter Match? Is it a good choice to replace the stock nut to avoid frame damage? Will it withstand hard use in your opinion?
@@BlokeontheRange I was told that the hammer spring but will rub until a hole is made in the frame from high round counts. Is this a valid problem or blow out of proportion? Also scroll to the 2nd and 3rd pics to see the “upgrade”.

Army issue PP14, provided by the Feds (i.e. my taxes, lol).
I cannot believe you shot so well given the low altitude cloud base....
"Black sights against a black background, winning!" Completely understand how you feel.
Perhaps a tall rear sight and aim at the bottom edge would work well?!
I borrowed my niece's most annoyingly bright nail polish for my black front sights and it made an instant improvement in my scores.
It's certainly doable, if a little annoying
