- For this year's rifle Feldschiessen, The Chap and The Bloke decided to shoot with the worst possible rifles allowed by the rules. So they dusted off their Schmidt-Rubin K11's, zeroed them 3 days prior to the match, and went at it over open sights. Because reasons, but mostly cos they're a complete pair of tits. But did either of them manage to make a medal-worthy score?
OOPS - got the highest possible score wrong - it's 72... I would put in an annotation, but UA-cam abolished them...

That is some damn good shooting Bloke. Still trying to work on my fundamentals to get that kind of accuracy out of my M1.
61 points is seriously impressive. Nice work!
I plan on making the trip to Switzerland in the next couple years for vacation. Your videos have really inspired me and get me more excited to head over with every new one you post! thank you for doing these!
It was great fun seeing The Chap's customized shirt when you walked to the shooting house after the introduction.
Hey Bloke, great video. Although this has no bearing on this video, I've found that smoking the sights with a carbide lighter works. Any kind of sooty flame works well but the carbide is exceptionally dark and flat. It really helped my open sight shooting with the K31. The sights appear very sharp and the soot removes easy.
Great shooting BoTR & The Chap. Wish I could do that with my K11!! Looks like fun, apart from the tension factor :)
I take it your now being told "No" in the pub? "Underage - out!"
Great vid as always.Congrats on the medal!
Very nice shooting! I must admit, I am impressed! Maybe I'll see you guys at the next one 😊 Greetings from another Bern resident :)
Man, you're really good, congrats
Well done sir, Major Hesketh Prichard would be proud of you.
Considering I just joined a local Swiss rifle club I wish we could own the stgw 57 here in Canada.
I dunno, my K11 always outshot the 2 x K31's I had, and quite easily too. My K11 is 1924, and of course the K31's are newer/better bores, but don't shoot as well.
Oddly, my favourite rifle and the best shooting one I have is a 1940 Kar98k with an average bore shooting 1939 Rottweil ammo, and yet a mate that used that rifle with his pet handloads couldn't hit the broad side of a battleship with it.
Sometimes, a rifle finds a shooter, and the shooter finds his rifle.
Excellent stuff. Thank you for posting and the information re diopters etc..
You should visit Sweden, there you can do field shooting in terrain, walk or drive between stations att different directions and unknown distances.
young back then
Haha made the "oooh" noise at the same time as you did on that 2! I'm very familiar with that scoring monitor as our club just replaced that version of the Sius target system with the newest version.
That bastard B target goes from 4 to 2 in about 10cm at the base of the silhouette.
I just see a mass of green - it's a pain (I use '90, but with my age, I should move to '57-03)
nicely done
Great video
How long has this competition be with this target size and scoring system? I am just wondering what service rifle would have been in use when the expected same accuracy as they do now.
The first Feld(waffen)schiessen on a cantonal level was in 1869 however diffrent scoring I assume.
1917 First eidg. Feldschiessen whit sponsoring of the ammunition by the gouverment, intrestingling it was organised only by on canton.

Cool. I thought they might have been running when the K11 would have been the common rifle. Bloke, if you unearth your tome with the rules for that period. I am curious how you feel your shooting would scored then.
You have probably been asked this before. But I have seen some articles and met a few people from Switzerland saying that full auto guns are legal in some parts of the county?
Okay thank you for that I was always curious.
Ryan Bacarella The non written rule is that if you have about 10 firearms, they will grant you the permit for full auto, at least in my part of CH.
Well I bust that limit instantly upon moving to Switzerland with my collection :D
They are - I and all my mates have a few. The only wrinkle is that you need to apply for permission each time you want to shoot them. We are planning a machine-gun shoot very soon. And indeed, it depends on the canton.
The worst possible? We had a Vetterli shoot. Its close enought to "Langgewehre". We just put him into an empty fire. He managed the Kranz as well.
It's very kind of you to let him shoot, I'm guessing he was shooting smokeless?
No. Black powder. Thats why we had him shoot in another empty fire. Yes I know bending the rules for Langgewehre to include Vetterlis is controversial but damn it I dont care as long as he shoots better than like half of the other people. Also you beat me by one point... I had to shoot it with the 90 due to me exiting service next year and normaly I just shoot the 57.
He must have some serious skills! Could you enquire about his load and bullet type?
The Chap Dont know him personaly but i can ask around in the club.
I have a Mauser and I'm wondering how you can make it more visible?
Hey Bloke, nice shooting. Could you recommend a gunshop in Kanton Bern if i wanted to purchase a K 31?
Bloke on the Range Thanks for the advice. I think i'll try the one in Höchstetten.
Prepare yourself for the deep Emmentaler accent of the owners!
Gratulation für dä Chranz 😊😊😊
Always funny seeing Sido shaven :D
Guys i just love you for what you are doing ... good job.
Btw. Where is the range at? From the the " I welcome you to Feldsch.." I Guess bernese Oberland? Area of Thun maeby
Out of 427 Shooters during the Feldschiesen weekend at our range 2 K31 open sights and one K11 actually...
You did outshout them just to mention
They wehre all younger blokes that took out granpas rifel out just for the fun of it
Btw is there a reason that the video does not apear when I browse your canal? I only got here via the FB link...
Bloke on the Range Have you ever had your canal browsed before? Goodness me.
Does the shooting jacket act like a wrapped sling but for your arm?
Bloke on the Range Cheers
congratulations on some fine shooting!
So basically you wanted to shoot like it was 1917. LOL!!!!
Great shooting Bloke and Chap, better luck next time. :)

lack of beard was a bit sad, congrats on the medal!
Chap cold you please manage to steal Blokes razor? I almost did not recognize him. ;-)
Love your vids!
I was shooting with my Stgw 90 PE in good conditions but missed the medal by 2 points :(
Yeah well, I still prefer to do this with my 57 :p I wonder if I can take my 55 to this, no idea if it's allowed.
Ye Gads! Grow thee a beard and Mo IMMEDIATELY! Das ist der Alpen-Kinder!
Looks like Changing Places - the Chap has the facial hair now :)
Are the other competitors themed too?
You would be the Swiss (obviously)
Maybe a German team would be great.
Naaa we just decided to do it for a laugh. I'm pretty sure that German, French, Austrian and Italian shooters in the border regions hop across the border to compete too. Most clubs have a rifle or two to use since the whole point is that literally anyone over 16 can wander into a club and have a try.
@ The Chap: As for the Fedschiessen the competion age is actually 10
@ Rice: We had at our range 2 Germans that allways have their hollidays in south germany around the time just to hop over to do the Feldschiessen
Also on Guy brogh a bunch of his coworkers from Brazil that happend to be in CH for some training in their company
CHmale81 ok, I assumed it was higher, although thinking back a few years I had indeed seen youngsters having a go guided by their dads.
Glad to see that both of you had "strippers" and scored! LOL. Nice vid!
What happened at the first shot from the Chap?
My whole shot string isn't in the vid.
Okay, but did you cut it after the primer was hit? Because that seems just weird.
Ah now I understand. The first "shot" on film is in fact just me setting up and dry firing on an empty chamber.
Ah good that we could clear that up. Thanks Chap.
I have to drive an hour for 100 yards. Im jealous !
So, in the beginning you said you were shooting the most inaccurate model u had--' the 1911 K 11. I was just preparing to buy a K 11. Partly because those who have several Schmidts say they actually prefere shooting their K 11 over their K 31. The K 31 became a fad here in the states the last year or so and supplies have dried up and of course the prices have gone way up. There are still some really nice K 11s around for around $500 US ( ouch) and the K 31s are few and far between and pricey. Seems to me thet you did quite well for an inaccurate rifle?? Also, it's late afternoon abd I almost went to sleep while you were talking at first. Snore haha
Dandahermit Seals Yeah, the K11 is by no means an inaccurate rifle. It’s just not as accurate as the rifles that are usually used for target shooting in Switzerland. That being said the difference in accuracy isn’t all that big and at 300 meters just barely noticeable
13:46 actually the maximum is 72.
I initially thought "Feldscheissen" meant "fieldshitting"....
Ah...with the "i" and the "e" the other way round?
Good shooting, BTW!
David - that was my initial translation, too. It took me a couple of seconds to get my mind out of the gutter...
Siesta Mine is always there, I fear!
As an antipodean K-11 driver, I'll chip in.
Firstly, nice shooting.
Secondly, of the K-11 and the K-31 I was offered at the time, I chose the K-11, as I ran "slicker". The K-31 may be more "robust, but with "sensible" ammo, who cares?
Regarding ammo:I n these parts GP-11 is virtually non-existent, apart from "collectors" ammo at silly prices. There is Serbian PPU, but not on my (retired) budget.
Handloads? Only way to fly. GP-11 "equivalent" bullets? There are some "close" ones, but also expensive.
Alternative? Either Bulk-pack 155 gn Sierra Match Kings , the now extinct Oz BJD "HBC" 155 grain BTHPs or the Lapua 155 gn offering, again in "bulk-pack" of 1000, if you can find them, The Lapua Scenar-L bullets are now my standard and also run in my Omark target / FTR rifles in .308 Win.
Probably never get to one of these matches "in the flesh", so I will settle for living vicariously via blokes (and chaps) like you.
Thanks and all the best.
A beard is the sign of manhood. We need a video on grooming tips mate.
being a good father/dad is the sign of manhood
0:28 You have been bitten by flies because you badmouth the Mauser K98... other than that your videos are interesting and I like them.
Alright, congratulations for your medal and on that note I subscribed.
What no beard?
what I don't understand is, first world countries have a lot of shooters but the ones who won medals are from a mixture of various countries but mostly 2nd and 3rd world. how?
