You splayed it! I've done it a few times, but never really planned or recorded any of the data. I ride from Texas to Virginia to see my daughters and dew it straight through. 1300 miles and it is brutal. But the sooner I get there the more time I have with them! You have earned my subscription and respect. And make sure to thank your husband for his service from this vet!
Good job! Did 1100 miles in a little over 20 hours in my youth on a Kaw 900. Glad I did it then because I have absolutely no desire now lol. I do still have a passion for long distance trips though. I admire you for using the 883, that would have been a lot easier with a larger tank. You are badass
this was an amazing video. A year ago I had got a touring bike, and was so bored after basically being a homebody during the pandemic, I decided to do a spontaneous 1000 mile run. It wasn't an official iron butt, just a get on the road or go crazy type thing. Well I was so pumped for it, I got to about the 850 mile point when I realized that I should have went out 500 and back 500, now instead of 1000, im going to be doing 1700 miles LOL. I decided to just finish to my destination and then stay the weekend with some friends and then do it again the other way. it took me a week to make the trip, but I wasn't on a timer so I just made it a casual adventure. I was very exhausted and drained, but also recharged and invigorated at the same time if that makes any sense lol...keep enjoying the open roads and making great videos, you Rock!!!
I go over the Mighty Mac 4 or 5 times a year and when you hit the grate i started laughing because that is how I feel about that dame grate ! Grate Vid
Wow, I’m impressed! I had a 1200 Nightster and did some long trips on that and it was NOT comfortable. I’ve done the Saddle Sore 1000 twice now, only one counted. Missed a receipt. But both times were on touring bikes. (Road King Custom/Ultra Limited Low) Big kudos to you.
Enjoyed watching your ride. Nice work. i had my 805 km ride last week, planning the 1610 km ride now. Stay safe and enjoy the ride. Greetings from Norway.
Great video and congrats, you should feel great about yourself, the SS 1000 is no joke. I did it 6 weeks ago. But I must say I am extremely impressed on how organized you were with your little notes and how well you researched all the stops and gas stations.
Just went on my first practice run for the Saddlesore. Hubs said I should work up to the distance. Today I spent 8 hours and went 400 miles (total) to the other side of the state and back. I took pictures of my odometer and receipts just as I would if I was doing it. Hoping the more I practice the most likely I am to succeed when I do it. I ride an 08 Sportster 1200 no special equipment. Seeing you do these challenges makes me feel like I can too! You are my inspiration and source for valuable advice! Thank you so much Whit!
Long time ago I drove a big truck over 1,000 miles in a day, and that was when the company had a 55 mph speed limit. Was kind of proud of that. Always wanted to do it on a bike.
WOW!!! You are an absolute trooper!! Great video and 1012 miles in less than 24hrs on a sporty!!!! That's awesome ! And holy cow at all the bugs!! Keep up the great work kinfolk!🤙🍻🍻
You did good! Way to push through when you were ready to throw in the towel and go find a hotel! The little dance at the end was awesome :) If anyone in the parking lot had known what you just accomplished, they would have been dancing right along with you. You did a heck of a job filming your journey and putting together the video for us out here in la la land to watch. Kudos young lady, kudos!
I just did 1000 miles over 5 days (would have been 4 but some severe weather cut us off) on my 2000 Sportster 1200. I can't imagine doing 1000 in a day Great Job. I also hate being behind semi truck and the back and forth, and metal grating sucks.
IMHO...You have one the best Saddle Sore 1000 documented video out there. I watched your video numerous times and have learned so much from your experience. Planning my own Saddle Sore 1000 in May 2021. NY to West Palm . I ride a 2011 Suzuki C50T, with a 4.1 gallon tank and a average of 210 miles. A little bigger than your bike and more comfortable, so my utmost respect to you.
That was awesome. Considering doing this and I learned a bunch of things I hadn’t considered. Favorite part was hearing your happiness seeing the sunset crossing the 5 mile bridge. We’ve all had those moments on destination rides. Keep making content. Congratulations.
whit meza Ha!! I’m not that and its hard for me not to want to stop and take every amazing view I see. Really appreciated your video. You expressed a lot of the internal dialogue Im sure a lot of us have.
My brother and I finished ours a week ago, he did it on a sportster as well. Lol we used our spare fuel tanks so much for his bike. His bike only broke down like six times. We managed to finish with 20 minutes to spare😂. Awesome vid. Dig your channel🤘
Congratulations on riding the ride to completion. As you have discovered the key to success is managing stop times. At first I was wondering why the late start but that did work out to your favor, when you turned west the sun was already down. US 2 at night can eat things off the bike. I lost a rain cover off my sissy bar bag.
Unfortunately because of dropping the kids off at daycare, I had to leave at 8:00AM (that's the earliest I could have). I wish I would have started out way earlier in the morning to get that part through right away. Lessons learned and I'll be sharing those and more of my insight later this winter when I record that video of it. Thank you!
Congratulations on completing the 1k miles on an 883. That's cray-cray! I really enjoyed the documentary. Thank you for not taking out the frustrations, so someone who never done the ride will have a better understanding of what to expect and will probably encounter some of these challenges. You're the first person I've watched doing the 1k miles, had written down the steps to what it takes to be certified during the trip. Thank you for that too! I've learned plenty from your experience... btw, cute victory dance. I'd dance too and wouldn't care who was looking lol.
@@whitmeza Another question for you. Don't whoever does these trips, have to ride back home? That's another thing no one's mentioned. If I rode 1k miles one way, I still got to get back home, which would makes the trip 2k miles. 😯😥 round trip. I think I'll ship my bike back home and fly back. 🤣
Hello from Alabama.. I've owned a sportster..loved... It... Just wondering how was the ride with the 03.. I like that bike.. mine was an 06.. rubber mount engine.. did you gave alot of vibration at highway speeds? I have a 2013 deluxe and want to do the 1000... Watched alot of people's channel doing this but yours was the.. best.. you are a cool cat... I have watched this several times.. learn something new each time.. Thanks
Loved the video! It was a pleasure to watch your whole iron butt journey in detail, and this documentary video was well worth the wait. Congrats on making it the full 1000!
Amazing! You are very brave and you hung in there and completed the entire run. I will never do the 1000 miles in 24 hours but I am glad to know someone who has done it! Congrats! Ride Safe
LOL, I did the saddlesore 1000 on a BMW F650GS twin (800 cc) in 18 hours 11 minutes and was not a rush or big deal. At 50 years old, I thought it would be tough but it's not.
Definitely will give more respect for doing it on a non touring bike. But you should remember that a 1000 miles in 24 hours is still a 1000 miles in 24 hours, That's a hard ride even in a car , particularly if you're Is playing by the rules and mostly following the speed limits. Even averaging 70 mph that's still over 14 hrs in the saddle And take it from a professional truck driver, after 14 hours you're pretty much ready for the day to be over
Well, you sort of did. Doing it on a Goldwing is kind of like doing it in a car. But it still qualifies. I've had 2 Goldwings. I always called them 2 wheeled cars.
If anything, this video destroys all the naysayers of the iron 883. I love that little bike. You and great! Egret are the only two that I have seen who have done long distance rides on a sportster. I've done a thousand mile road trips on mine but not in one day lol
I realize this is an old video, but I just saw it for the first time. I did my ss1000 on an ultra limited and almost threw in the towel at the 800 mile mark to pull it off on a sportster is an impressive accomplishment to be proud of. Congratulations!
Nicely done. I did the loop in three days last fall. It was awesome but the south end from Milwaukee to about south have was brutal. We did an overnight in traverse city Michigan and then in Munising followed by Neenah WI. I could feel your pain at the Shell station in Munising. That was the only place open for a late night meal up there. We stayed at the hotel across the road. The hot tub there helped take the road aches out alot. It's a good thing you didn't know about the hot tub with the beds across the street. 🤣 But for real I rode a Honda magna and took 2 fuel bottles just in case for the U.P.
@@whitmeza Good luck... Plan your Ride...Ride your Plan. Enough have done this that you should be able to find the most economical route. As you learned with your first IBA...minimize your stops time, you shouldn't stop for sit down meals on any IBA ride, and be efficient with you're rest periods. Figure what minimum rest time you need to stay focused and alert so your safe but you can keep moving. Momentum is everything. This is especially important in the beginning when you should be the most rested. Plus, you don't know what delays you may run into with traffic, bike issues, or bio issues (if you know what I mean). Just keep moving. You can get a good night's sleep when you're done... Keep the video simple so it doesn't distract you. Telling your story afterwards is enough.
Meza, something I do when traveling is to carry a small cooler with ice in it. For two reasons. To carry water bottles, electrolyte drink, and I carry a wash rag. I dip the wash rag in the ice water and wipe my face at gas stops, to refresh myself. BTW, usually the gas stations will allow you to fill your little cooler with ice, if you're buying soft drinks or water bottles.
Thanks for the video. I live off M35 just north of Menominee Mi (UP). Taking my sone (who got his motorcycle Lic this summer) on this trip next summer. He is 16 and has been doing amazing. So much more careful than I was as a youth.lol Again thanks for this and other info Iv gotten from your videos on this subject.
Oh my goodness! I can only imagine the exhaustion you were feeling! I think the most I’ve ever gone in a day is between 300-400 miles and that wipes me out. This was an awesome little documentary to watch 👌🏽
This was absolutely amazing! I’ve been saying I was going to complete an Iron Butt Challenge for over 6 years and I still have yet to attempt it. Especially now with two kids running around. A HUGE congratulations to you, Whit!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Best way to do it is to just plan it. Pick a 3 day weekend , set up a babysitter, And make sure you get a good night's sleep Before taking off 1st thing in the morning.
Here in NZ on an organised 1000/24 road rally on a bike with only a 15 litre tank and having to stop for gas about 10-11 times and riding mostly at night I did it a couple of times taking 19.5 hours each time sitting around a maximum 120kmh as fuel economy went down hard above that, small tanks are a massive time killer, it can be harder mentally than physically, well done
Congratulations on completing the Iron Butt !!! . . . but, as to your question, I don't think that I would be able to do something like that any more. Perhaps 20 years ago, or maybe even 10, but, these days, it's probably not safe for me to try. I'm hoping for about a 10 or 11 hour trip in the spring and even that one has me a little nervous. Age gives one an amazing ability to fall asleep rather easily, and I wouldn't want to do that on my bike. It did look like a wonderful trip though. It makes for a fantastic story to tell. I can't wait to see the next long haul.
@@whitmeza .. My travel will be on a Road Star Silverado, so, hopefully she'll be comfortable enough. and .. WOWZERS !! . .. 48 states in 10 days. That's got to include a lot of zigging and zagging to get them all. How many miles would something like that be? . . Hopefully, I'll see you out there on the road some time. The whole thing is a bucket list for me. Bike, travel, friends, scenery, places. Vacation for health reasons. I'm not trying for any land speed records, just fun and beautiful memories. I know I have one trip in me, I'd love to think I can eek out 2 or 3 trips, we'll see. Stay safe, keep the rubber side down . . . . and I can hardly wait to see what you're going to use for the 48 state run . . . any ideas yet?
That was a long ride 🏍️ The bridge design and water views was amazing 👍 . Have to be one of the longest bridges in the world. My bro used to ride 1000klms every Friday nite and then back again on the Monday, on his BMW R100 in the day every weekend.
You probably already knew this, but just in case. Remember that metal grating, much like the milled roads, is basically harmless once you convince yourself of that. I have found that actually relaxing my grip a little makes it easier to negotiate. Great ride little sister, keep up the good work.
Found you through Megan stark! Love this video. I just started riding on a sportster and will be starting a channel on Friday 😱 I’m still super anxious when I ride. And I mentally think through everything, but that’s why I love these kinds of videos- to see the journey and the growth. 🙌🏼👊🏼
Wow, amazing accomplishment. Very proud of you. What an amazing journey. That bridge view was incredible. I’d be like you and make multiple stops and would struggle with that last couple hundred miles. Liked how organized you were.
great Job on a sporty you Rock Welcome to the club. My 1st was SW of Chicago to west of Denver 1077 miles in 16 hrs. have done the Saddle sore 7 times now and bun burner once. I have done them on a Ultra classic, FJR, and KTM adventure bike. going to attempt the B.B. gold next summer on the summer solstice. on the KTM i get 325 mile to a tank. Good luck on future attempts. They are Like Beer can't have just one. Since you live over the Cheddar curtain you have a lot of great back roads
Long time WI resident, with a few years in Sheboygan. I was wondering why you cut over to Madison before heading south instead of just going straight south thru Milwaukee into Chicago. Then when I mapped out the Lake Michigan route as tight as possible it's only 920 miles, so now it makes sense. I did an SS1000 back in 2014 from Sheboygan to Buffalo, WI, but I was on a Victory Vision. That bike almost made it easy. I've also owned a 1996 Sportster. It vibrated so bad I never went over 65 on it.
Thanks for this video, great stuff! I'm shocked to find someone that did it with a smaller range bike than mine. (MT-09 SP) I knew it was doable, now I REALLY know it's doable.
Yessss *claps* I freaking love Pasties, they have some of the best Pasties in Butte! There's a little shop in Hamilton, MT as well that I do my best to visit everytime I come home lol RIP Cramp Buster I firmly believe that pumps that are electronic should ALWAYS be open even if the station is closed. I got trapped in Fossil, OR on a trip because their gas station closes at like 7pm lol You did awesome :D
Congrats on finishing. Dance all you want. Who cares about them. Thanks for putting this video out. I'm sure trying to assemble 24 hours of footage that at times you don't even remember shooting and compiling a coherent story was quite the challenge. That bridge looked beautiful and sketchy all at the same time. Thanks for the little tips about a photo overlay app and what apps/tools you were using for tracking - that's super helpful. In thinking about doing a SS myself I always wonder about time. Your little snippets were great examples of what goes wrong and how "I can do this in 15 hours" turns into "less than an hour to go". Note taken about not packing Chocolate!
BUGS!!!!! I always keep a can of bug remover for my helmet and windshield to help remove those pesky dudes. Iron Butt ride with a Sportster You are brave. I did an iron butt ( Not official although I did it ) Rode from my home to Thunderbay on. along the Lake Superior shoreline it was amazing. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi, Whit. Again, your videos are very well done and enjoyable to watch. Would you mind listing all of the tracking apps you used? Maybe a good video idea, too, walking us first time planners through it. Thanks!
Yes that's a next video I want to create. I have a Spotwalla account that's connected to my SW Connect app (iphone only I believe) that sends my tracking location to it every 15 minutes. I then used Rever to personally track my route. I also used TimestampCamera when I took photographs of my receipts as well. Hope this helps in the mean time!
Congrats, I know how hard that ride is, I have done two. You are at a real disadvantage with that small gas tank. I ride a Goldwing and we did ours in 17.5 hrs so we did not do overnight. 4am to 10:30pm for us. We can do about 200 miles per tank which is a real game changer. So my hats off to you, that is the hard way. You did good!
WOW... to do it on THAT bike ..fantastic job! The number of gas stops was/ is a bummer ... I plan on doing one in 2021 , but I have an FJR1300 with an almost 7 gallons of gas .at 42 MPH means ..with a safety margin 5-6 stops...you are a real warrior :)
Well I wrote across the country this year from Seattle to Orlando and back of course 8 days there 6 days back one of the days on the way back I did 870 mi and was prepared to do 1,000 because I could not find a hotel room so I guess it just depends on how you feel in a given day if you can do that or not most days I gave up at 4 to 500 miles....
Thanks for sharing your adventure. It's a crap shoot if the receipts are available at our gas pumps in Ohio. My luck is I'd have to wait in line inside to get my printed receipt. Very time consuming. That would stress my out for sure.
Congratulations that's a bit of a ride wonder what year sporty you gotta do one out west the sights are a lot more exciting a 883 can handle the mountains and high passes Rockies are no problem though throttle will be wide open at times with some of the steeper grades did the western states on a 883 o4 that's now a 1200 hope to see your next video
No, way. I'm the same way. You have to find joy in those little moments on your ride. Much like the sun setting over the UP while you were crossing the Mackinaw Bridge, it's those little fun moments that you'll remember forever and which make the long rides worthwhile. Light heart, long miles.
whit meza I agree with Paul, sometimes it’s the satisfaction of coming over a rise and seeing a town in the distance, or what the flashing light was. it is those things that differ from shorter rides. One comment we LD riders here is “You cannot see anything” when riding that long. Wasn’t the sunrise after riding through the night cool? Weren’t the stars in the sky amazing (assuming you had a clear sky).
I will buy you that shirt. I am serious. Congrats They give you a number . We do a Mac and back too . 800 plus in day. That grating is a trip . I start taking aspirin when I leave . I was 64 on my last one. My o2 sporty gets fifty mpg . What did you get ?
Great job! Gas is cheap out your way...Roads are pretty empty too. Cool. The Mackinaw Bridge reminds me of the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge, except for the metal grate and it's not as high. Anyway, congrats.

Loved the video! It was a pleasure to watch your whole iron butt journey in detail, and this documentary video was well worth the wait. Congrats on making it the full 1000!
Rabbi Gabriel Kretzmer Seed thank you!!!
Amazing! You are very brave and you hung in there and completed the entire run. I will never do the 1000 miles in 24 hours but I am glad to know someone who has done it! Congrats! Ride Safe
Thank you!
Congrats. And on a smaller bike too. Kudos. I saw your posting in the IB Facebook page.
Thanks for watching. :)
SaddleSore on an 883 mad props. Makes me feel like I cheated using a 1800 Goldwing.
SoDak Motorcycle Blog nah! You still did it!!!
LOL, I did the saddlesore 1000 on a BMW F650GS twin (800 cc) in 18 hours 11 minutes and was not a rush or big deal. At 50 years old, I thought it would be tough but it's not.
@@joem5110 yea but the 883 Sportster's fuel tank is minuscule compared to your GS.
Well done Whit! You did great!
Steve Inskip thank you!!
Top ride for a 883 well done 👍🇦🇺
Merritt thank you!!
Congrats! Looked like an amazing ride. Awesome to see a local moto vlogger here. Keep the content coming.
Jason thank you for watching!!
Excellent job on content and getting the ride completed! Found your channel just recently, Cheers 🍻
Bruce Saunders thank you!
I watched this 3 Or more times. 16 stops, 883 small tank. Wow. Now I am watching other video’s. Glad all ride there ride but you are great.
Glad you enjoyed it
If anything, this video destroys all the naysayers of the iron 883. I love that little bike. You and great! Egret are the only two that I have seen who have done long distance rides on a sportster. I've done a thousand mile road trips on mine but not in one day lol
Still. 🙌
You are a trooper!... Awesome content and safe travels!
Christian Sun thank you!
You go girl.
Thank you!
I realize this is an old video, but I just saw it for the first time. I did my ss1000 on an ultra limited and almost threw in the towel at the 800 mile mark to pull it off on a sportster is an impressive accomplishment to be proud of. Congratulations!
Thank you! I just took ownership of the bike again late last fall. Planning another iron butt ride on her this year! :)
Congratulations, that's awesome !!!
Thank you!!
Nice work rider! Inspiring that you did it by yourself.
Steve Littrell thank you!
Steve Littrell, those bugs on her windshield was crazy looking. That was a battle in its self. LoL
Just found your channel, I’ve ridden many Ironbutts but doing it on a sportster is impressive. Can’t imagine that many stops. Great job!
Oh awesome! Thank you!
But for real I rode a Honda magna and took 2 fuel bottles just in case for the U.P.
Good Call!
Awesome to watch the recap!! That was such a stunning view from the bridge - although riding on the grates is always a bit tense 😆 great job!!
MotoKari thank you lady 🖤🖤
Yeah I worry about the grates as well.
I really admire what you accomplished here! You’re amazing!
Thank you dear.
Congrats! Great editing and narration. Awesome adventure.
Sebastian Hammer thanks for watching!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 well done whit!!! This is so fun. You’re a badass 💥💥
Mary Pang 🖤🖤🖤
Finally a rider who really rides! Welcome to the IBA. I look forward to seeing more long rides.
Thank you! I have a 48/10 ride planned ride for this summer.
Thanks for sharing
Well done 👍🏻 Amazing achievement.
vanislandsteve BC thank you!
Your a brave woman riding hwy 2 in the dark! Now you need to go back, take your time and ride the Michigan coast, so much to see. Congrats!
Matthew Jackson that is the plan! I wish I could have seen it all in the daylight. Another reason to ride ;)
@@whitmeza We took the Badger across a few weeks ago, did the upper half, beautiful coast, decent roads, and lovely cities.
You are amazing and I am so happy for you! You did a great job riding over the big Mac here in Michigan to the upper peninsula. Congrats!
BoDean 52 thank you. I should have waved to you as I rode by. 🤣
whit meza I felt your presence 😂😂
Thanks for the video. I live off M35 just north of Menominee Mi (UP). Taking my sone (who got his motorcycle Lic this summer) on this trip next summer. He is 16 and has been doing amazing. So much more careful than I was as a youth.lol Again thanks for this and other info Iv gotten from your videos on this subject.
How awesome!!!
Oh my goodness! I can only imagine the exhaustion you were feeling! I think the most I’ve ever gone in a day is between 300-400 miles and that wipes me out. This was an awesome little documentary to watch 👌🏽
Lei the Rogue thank you!
Wow congratulations Whit. That’s a big accomplishment. 👍👍👍
Dirty Deez thank you!!!
This is beyond cool. Loved it. Glad I got to meet you at BRO a couple of weeks ago 😊
Absolutely!!
Thank you, I have two kids myself and it makes it hard...but still do-able!
Yes! Thank you
Congratulations on completing the Iron Butt !!! . . . but, as to your question, I don't think that I would be able to do something like that any more.
Cultosaurus thank you! I may try for a 48 states in 10 day iron butt challenge. We shall see. It won’t be on the sporty though...
OH wow! I'm not sure if it's the longest, but it sure feels like it when I'm riding the grated area. :)
Nice job!!
Thanks!
You probably already knew this, but just in case. Remember that metal grating, much like the milled roads, is basically harmless once you convince yourself of that. I have found that actually relaxing my grip a little makes it easier to negotiate. Great ride little sister, keep up the good work.
Absolutely! Thank you!
Found you through Megan stark! Love this video. I just started riding on a sportster and will be starting a channel on Friday 😱 I’m still super anxious when I ride. And I mentally think through everything, but that’s why I love these kinds of videos- to see the journey and the growth. 🙌🏼👊🏼
Dang UA-cam held this review as "likely spam" sorry I didn't see it until now!
Geez! Really?! Lol
Wow, amazing accomplishment. Very proud of you. What an amazing journey. That bridge view was incredible. I’d be like you and make multiple stops and would struggle with that last couple hundred miles. Liked how organized you were.
Broncoride thank you!
I am really looking forward to seeing this!!!!!
Can't wait for you to complete yours soon! You got this!
great Job on a sporty you Rock Welcome to the club.
Exactly! Thank you. Good luck on yours as well.
Yup, have to get those miles in somewhere. Thanks for sharing!
Your one tough lady Iron butt on a sporty no way in hell would I do that congrats
Adrian Woodworth thank you!
Really well done. Great effort.
Moto Gus thanks
Well Done - Congrats. Great Video!!
Jeff thank you!!
Thanks for this video, great stuff! I'm shocked to find someone that did it with a smaller range bike than mine. (MT-09 SP) I knew it was doable, now I REALLY know it's doable.
Thanks for watching.
Atta girl! Great job! And.....on a 2003, 100th anniversery Sportster.......a 17 year old motorbike.
cb750k1974 thank you!
Cb750k1974 Japanese in line 4s forever ( zx6r 636) !!!!!!!!
Yessss *claps*
I freaking love Pasties, they have some of the best Pasties in Butte! There's a little shop in Hamilton, MT as well that I do my best to visit everytime I come home lol
RIP Cramp Buster
I firmly believe that pumps that are electronic should ALWAYS be open even if the station is closed. I got trapped in Fossil, OR on a trip because their gas station closes at like 7pm lol
You did awesome :D
As the Magpie Flies thank you lady. That means so much coming from you. 🖤
Hello. Here is Gabi - Loved your video. So many emotions :). Truly a challenge for the body and mind. Thank you for sharing your trip with us.
BRAMMOTO absolutely 🖤
Your the real deal!
Thank you for watching!
Great job!
Chris Comly thank you!
Scott Miller so glad to share! Best of luck on yours!!
My little spray bottle of big slide was no match for this all. 🤢 lol
Thank you!! I should have started earlier in the morning but with kids. I had to start at 8:00am.
Congrats to you! Great job!
Dave Pelfrey thank you
I am impressed. Sportster with no rubber mounting. Looks like it did just fine.
Egalitarian Vegan that it did! 🙌🏼
WOW... to do it on THAT bike ..fantastic job! The number of gas stops was/ is a bummer ... I plan on doing one in 2021 , but I have an FJR1300 with an almost 7 gallons of gas .at 42 MPH means ..with a safety margin 5-6 stops...you are a real warrior :)
5 stops would have been a dream! 😂 have a great ride!!
That would stress my out for sure.
oh my, that would be time consuming no doubt!
I have an 883, 2003 version. That sounds like a great ride Mike.
"Look at my shadow! Woo hoo!"
🤣🤣
Paul Tong ha ha. I’m such a dork. 🤣
No, way. I'm the same way. You have to find joy in those little moments on your ride. Much like the sun setting over the UP while you were crossing the Mackinaw Bridge, it's those little fun moments that you'll remember forever and which make the long rides worthwhile. Light heart, long miles.
Thought that was pretty funny too!
whit meza I agree with Paul, sometimes it’s the satisfaction of coming over a rise and seeing a town in the distance, or what the flashing light was. it is those things that differ from shorter rides. One comment we LD riders here is “You cannot see anything” when riding that long.
Wasn’t the sunrise after riding through the night cool? Weren’t the stars in the sky amazing (assuming you had a clear sky).
Thought I was the only one who did that!
Awesome love doing the iron but challenges.
I am now officially hooked!
Welcome to iron butt association. My friend and I did one in 2016 on sportys. On the way to Sturgis.
Would love to buy a your a iba shirt .
Gary Jacobs that’s awesome!! I’m still waiting on my certification yet 🤞🏼
I will buy you that shirt. I am serious. Congrats They give you a number . We do a Mac and back too . 800 plus in day. That grating is a trip .
I start taking aspirin when I leave . I was 64 on my last one. My o2 sporty gets fifty mpg . What did you get ?
Finally received my IBA number and approval for the ride verification!
@@whitmeza great ! The shirt offers stands young lady
Great job! Gas is cheap out your way...Roads are pretty empty too. Cool. The Mackinaw Bridge reminds me of the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge, except for the metal grate and it's not as high. Anyway, congrats.
James Lagnese thank you!
@@whitmeza You're Welcome.
