Hey, old man! Been watching your videos pretty much since you started. Love what you’re doing! Watched the girls bike video a little bit ago. Saw little an scoot across screen at 8:25 Indiana time. I am 64 y.o. and have been riding since I was 14 on a brand new 73 Honda 50 Mini Trail. Rode the shit out of that thing! Anyway, to the present. Two years ago, I traded in my beloved 02 Triumph Thunderbird. It was just becoming a little top heavy for me and was already looking into the Himalayan after reading an article in cycle world mag. So, since we have a RE dealership here in Indy, I went to see Mike at Speed City Cycle (great guy and shop!) to work out a trade the Triump for one. I’ve always loved Dual Sports and have a few including two different KLR’s. About 4 months later, my wife was ready to upgrade from her Suzuki gz250 that she got after taking her riding course. The Meteors were just starting to show up and we traded for Stellar Red model. After riding hers, I thought it was so much more smooth and comfortable than the Himmy that I ended up trading it for a brown Supernova like yours. Your are right. It does punch above it’s weight. Right now its my “big” bike. Now you got me thinking about a Sportster after considering an Intercepter or the Super Meteor as a next bike. Thanks, Bro for dilemma! 😒 Keep up the good work and sorry for being windy. Take care, Jay
Haa.....13:21...... good to hear about your sportster adventures...now it's very difficult over here in India to grab a bike like this...but by Gods grace I finally got a 2014 model at age 52.... it's been my dream bike since school days
I have an '07 1200L, and 2 '76 Ironheads (resto projects)... looking forward to getting one of the Ironheads road ready.... Fell in love with the Ironhead after detailing and riding my best friend's '81 Sportster.
Always enjoy the ride on a Sportster. I own a 2001 1200S and I love it. In the UK they've killed off the old Sportster for the new model which is of no interest to me. Harley should do what Triumph have done with the Bonneville range and make a modern traditional Sportster.
I've never owned a sportster. However I did own a 1996 Buell S2T that had the 1200 motor in it and it did just fine touring. 13:21 Thanks for the chance!
I think it is pretty well established that folks can go a long way on almost anything (heck, the designer of the Janus 250 rode his on an Iron Butt ride!). What tends to get my attention is to see a couple touring on their two bikes. The old man is loafing along on his bagger, on cruise control, listening to music, sipping from his cup holder at 80MPH and mama is back there getting beat up (relatively) on the Sporty. And maybe he's wondering why she doesn't want to do that again. This is not to denigrate the sporty, more the argument that ladies can ride the bigger bikes, too. Conversely, if she's on a Sporty, he should be on a Sporty. As you know it will be doing the long ride on the Enfield, I can do 300 miles on the GSA before breakfast, but on the Enfield I proved that I can do 300 miles before breakfast the day after tomorrow. (and still have a great ride!) . Enjoy!
The things I like about Sportsters? I love the basic look of a Sporty. Unit construction (no transmission chain to adjust), single induction point (no carbs or throttle bodies to balance), hydraulic lifters (no adjustment required), belt drive (no lube needed.) Things I hate: small fuel tank, air cleaner rubbing my leg, handling (as compared to European bikes. ) 13:21 LMR
At a BB in darkest Wales a couple of years back and I saw a American type turkey 🦃! The lady of the house told me the local farmers keep them with the sheep as they see off foxes 😲
@@howdot2286 I highly highly highly, (did I say highly?) recommend sportsters of you're looking at Harley-Davissons.I love all bikes, but the Sportster is where my heart is.
G'day Ronin, your right on the money about it not the size of the Motorcycle it's the fun of the ride, image plays a big part in some riders eyes but they just don't get it, like you l have had adventure filled rides (twice around Australia) on nothing bigger than 850cc, l some time sneek a ride on the pillion Princesses 350cc scooter and man is that fun to ride, twist and go, that's what it's going to be with Electric bikes for all in the future, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
I think I'm lucky to have a 2021 iron 1200 because it was the last year it came out, at first I bought it to start with, and then put to traded it in for a bigger one now I think I'll keep it,
You didn’t mention the trauma you had endured as a younger person, but allow me to recommend the book, “the body keeps the score.” it is a fantastic book about dealing with trauma.
Everyone I know that rides a Sportster is a guy. I don’t know any women that ride them. The women I know that ride bikes, ride either sport bikes, ADVs or full size Harleys. I’m 6’ 2” and I’ve ridden Sportsters many times. I like riding them and If set up right, very comfortable. Little man Ronin at 13:21.
Sportsters are sweet bikes. A mellow ride that looks like a motorcycle and is very functional. It's not a two wheeled Cadillac, it's not a fighter jet, and it's not wind up toy. Anyone who criticizes it by calling it a "girls bike" is suffering from an inferiority complex and is simply ignorant.✌🏽

By far my longest single trip and probably will ever do
