First time checking you out You really are an auto-masochist. Hard tail, no rain gear, no waterproof boots, and an open face helmet. You were losing motor functions too! You earned a subscription from me. You're a tough S.O.B.!
I'm in the UK and have done the John O'Groats to Lands End ride and that's brutal, even on a comfy adventure bike! Had 450 miles to get to the start the day before, then nearly 900 miles to do the event then 450 miles home the next day. It rained non-stop from JOG to LE and ended with freezing fog for the last 100 miles, I've never been so cold and wet in my life! I slept for 18 hours when I got home! p.s. I remember stopping to get fuel and my feet were soaking, as I queued to pay for the fuel the lady looked as miserable as sin behind the counter and I was going to ask for two carriers for my feet and was convinced she wasn't going to give me them or at least charge me. I asked for them and she said with a really sour face, "Why do you want them?" I said, "To put over my feet to keep them dry when I change my socks as I'm piss wet through and freezing cold"... She shrugged as if to say `fair enough mate` and handed them over!
You're living the dream, Danny! Well done! Plus you've completed a whole road trip without calling the CRASH (Col's Roadside Assist Service Helpline) - so Col's had a good day too 🙂
Right on! Me and three bros did the Iron Butt Saddlesore Challenge (the one you’re on) in 2021 and the Butt Burner last year. That one nearly killed me. 2,710 km in 32hrs. The last 400 km was pushing past my limit. My head started nodding and when my eyes closed for even a second my mind would try to convince me, “just for a minute, just a short minute.” I’ve never fallen asleep at the wheel but I get how one can trick themselves. It was decided I separate from the group and ride my own line that last 400 km after we’d fuelled up and I took 20 to shake it off. I’d been following the whole trip (junior rider) and those taillights were starting to mesmerize me. That was all I needed. I cranked the throttle and poured on the gas and the Adrenalin kicked in. Made some miles in short order. And, thanks be to God and a good motorcycle instructor, I am here to tell the tale.
Having done a few of these rides I would say to others who are planning there first ride, plan meticulously, know the fuel range of your bike, always carry a spare amount of fuel and carry appropriate wet weather gear, because when you get cold you can make mistakes, with that said well done Danny.👍
First 15 minutes is riding in the dark and petrol stations 😮. Oh and rain!!! Of course the thermals aren’t going to work if you are soaked to the skin through a lack of waterproofs 😂. I stay a fan because of Danny’s tenacity to keep on keeping on through his own lack of preparation.
Just did 1015M in 15hrs and only stopped for gas. Helen GA to Victoria TX. Dept 9AM arrive 12:09 AM next day. Great ride in the Smokey mountains and rode the dragon. Wish you the best!
That was without a doubt one of the funniest videos I have watched in a long time. You rode a hardtail, with a candle for a headlight, unreliable electrics, shit fuel range, no waterproofs, no heated clothing and covered 1000 miles..... in crap weather, and then just to add to the fun.....one glove!!!. Well done for your tenacity but there has to an easier way to make a buck......A rider in good gear on a modern adventure bike would have made that look a whole lot easier and safer. But thanks for the effort :)
Congratulations my Iron Butt brother ! My wife & I did a Saddle Sore a few years back. We hit & killed a 200 lb black bear around the half way point in west Virginia. We didn't die so - The show goes on ! Made it home with 15 minutes to spare - 1,120 miles 😅
Dude, well done! Sorry to laugh at your pain but that was hilarious. No suspension, no fenders, no windshield, suicide clutch/shifter, no rain gear, open faced helmet, I'm guessing no ear plugs, random blinkers, a headlight with the brightness of a candle, GoPro held together with rubber band, freezing temps and only one glove..but all in your happy place. ...and you did the entire ride on the wrong side of the road (hello from USA).
That's a brutal time to set off with no sleep and confront the winter wind blast... What doesn't kill us makes us stronger is so very true... Most things we think are too difficult often prove they aren't. Indeed, we all need to STOP OVERTHINKING everything in life and just do! What's the worst that can happen? Die? Well so be it, get comfortable with it 😉Nice work Danny, ridden well 👍
Was waiting for the epic jump in the Jacuzzi shot you should've done mate! Good on ya, great determination, albeit with a little winging....lol! Congrats mate, well done!
Good on ya. Welcome to the club. My mate met me at the finish while I was putting up my tent to crash. He handed me a cold Budweiser, then I slept for over 12 hours. A spa would have been great. Thanks for sharing, Ride Free
Awesome one Danny & Congratulations, on doing that tough ride, I just finish my 2nd 1600 K last month defiantly is testing times out there in the 24hrs
Man, you really like to test the limits of what appropriate and effective riding gear is, based on the conditions lol. My Nike Dunks would be home in my closet for sure, even though they are GTX I’d be wearing my FXRG GTX boots with merino wool socks, GTX gauntlet gloves, merino wool first layer + proper insulated and waterproof pants and jacket, a balaclava + my smart wool neck gator, and a FULL FACE HELMET! 😂 Props to you for completing your mission… it definitely looked very unpleasant and certainly a test of endurance however with my gear I’d have been much more comfortable, warm and dry in those conditions. My cold weather riding season is approaching and I’m prepared! In fact I just got my first pair of heated gloves to connect to the battery tender so I’m looking forward to testing those out. Ride safe!
This is the best example of perseverance and dedication I have ever seen. Congratulations this video gives everyone hope that they could do an iron, but and this also shows how realistic of a challenge it can be.
I've done it but not on a ridged. It was in 2003 and I was riding a 1981 Suzuki GS1100 with nothing but sagging springs in the front end. My speedo cable broke 20 miles from the finish but I had my 3 gas receipts so the finish line checker had me run down the strip to prove that the speedo was broken and I got credit. I took just over 23 hours but I stopped to stay with a mate who decided to change his rear brakes at a checkpoint and that took over an hour. Boy did I reek after that ride. I was filthy with rings of dirt in my neck and arms. I had a rigid triumph but after it cracked the frame twice I got rid of it. Rain will take the gumption right out of you.
" this truly is my happy place ". I absolutely agree with you. At that very moment. One with the bike. And nature. It's like the world is perfect. Everything is perfect. We as motorcyclists feel alive. So alive. And happy. Very very happy.
But to get this approved you must have the fuelling receipts with the time and place(s) printed ? And describe the route you’ve taken and send it in to the Iron Butt Association ? Well done !!
Insane bro. Hopefully one day I can do this and record it. My dad would watch and love every video. He’s the one that turned me on to you ! Stay safe brother 🤘
You're a legend for sure Danny. I did this challenge several years ago BUT, 2 of us did it on CVO Road Glide Ultra's and the other 2 (1 being a girl) on a 2003 and a 2011 FatBoys. Oh, and it was warm weather with a brief shower. And we did it about the same time as yourself. But we did stop for lunch and dinner. So not the same caliber as yourself but, we did it. Good job as always and hope to meet you some day and shake the Legends hand. Waiting on your next adventure!
Wow Danny….your really growing into a director 😮the cinematography was magnificent my beloved friend ….. 10 second (Segways) is the trick ..looks professional.witch I think it is 🇿🇦👍
Too much to write so I'll keep it short. I have done the SS1000 TWICE. The first time we (English Advanced Motorcyclists) smashed the American record of a group ride. USA 17 riders - England 19 riders finished, (2 0f 21 didn't) all passed. I rode Suzuki GSXR600 the first time and a Kawasaki ZX900 the 2nd. Up to Scotland, across and back. I was the 1st English LADY to ever complete this so I was quite proud of myself. Our photographer and a pillion didn't count) Certificates/badges and other stuff I still have. A very big thank you to Mike Kneebone, chairman if I.B.A. and our organiser. We had a lot more fun than you did!...
Congrats well done, a tough gig. How good is that pan head of yours. Keep living the dream son. I’m 65 still ride a semi chopped 82 Sturgis and a Streetglide St
I was planning to do this this season, but I busted my right wrist in March and have 2 surgeries so far. Fun stuff. But watching you freezing your ass off made me want to get on here and tell you about #TOBE, I purchased a monosuit to use for snowmobiling, but I use it more on the motorcycle. It's 100% wind and waterproof! I can fully vouch for the product. I rode with it on in below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Stayed cozy warm and completely. I love the vents and Kevlar on the lower legs, plus you can still go to the bathroom and not have to pull it off. It has almost a 360 zipper around the hips for easy access to your pants 😁👍😎. Loved the video. I watch the channel quite a bit, one day I want to go ride in Australia.
You had to do it now? You couldn't wait for warmer weather? You're in the rain with an open face and no windshield? You're on a hardtail chopper? Are you crazy? Oh, you're Million Dollar Bogan. I get it.
Hey Danny, amazing challenge wish I had the drive keep up rue awesome vids!. Can I ask what brand your thermals pants and jeans are as they seem to have padding on the knees?
Imagine the guy working in the gas station, looking outside at a wet shivering Danny talking to himself or his motorcycle. Danny needs to sell a shirt that says "Not gonna winge about it."

You are crazy, and I love it, we love you. Living the dream, yes you are.
What's the temperature there now?
Probs about same as uk ....in our summer .......fuming ĥot lol 😂
Danny, I wear an m12 battery powered heat jumper (milwaulkee) under my harley jacket on cold rides. They sell em at totaltools or sydneytools.

100%
Unlike my grammar or spalling lol
Of course none of that applies to Mr. M$B.
Eat healthy, hydrate, detox from caffeine (if you can) and rest well before you begin.

... Naaaa totally disappointed in this video, no shots of him stuffing his gob with shit food while riding 'no hands'.
Sweet.. this is not something I am going to try.. unless sitting on my chair watching youtube is considered an iron butt challenge..
Yer your not well mate and not cool
Congratulations my Iron Butt brother !
My wife & I did a Saddle Sore a few years back.
We hit & killed a 200 lb black bear around the half way point in west Virginia.
We didn't die so - The show goes on !
Made it home with 15 minutes to spare - 1,120 miles 😅
Daniel, youre quite the man. A true chopper; Springer, 4 inch open drive belt,, hard tail.
Danny: I've got permanent hazards on !
Colin: Danny you are a fu****g permanent hazard !!!
Don't know how you did it without the glove, awesome effort M$B.
Well done Danny, never doubted you one bit mate...
Nice to see you again on the road Danny, you showed em your strength again, congrats
Dude, well done! Sorry to laugh at your pain but that was hilarious. Excellent Danny only those that ride motorcycles understands how bloody hard that is to do 👏👏
Truck driver uk ........700kms does me in .......legend he is
Holly shit this dude is hardcore. Most people do this on baggers, and you do it on a ridged chopper. You are a badass sir.
Man what you do is amazing. Truly awesome. Absolutely enjoy your videos and interactions with the folks you come in contact with. Airborne.

I enjoyed going with you on your journey.
Thank you.👌🇬🇧
Respect mate. Having owned a rigid panhead i felt your exhileration and pain 😆. Badge well earned
Great video. Have you ever tried latex gloves on the inside of your motorcycle gloves? Works great when it’s cold and wet.
Hats off to you Danny that’s one hell of a trip on that bike.
Was waiting for the epic jump in the Jacuzzi shot you should've done mate!

Ya know you’ve made it big, when you can do things that are painful for fun.
Legend mate. This is one of the coolest iron butt ride vids I’ve seen. 🤙🏽
Rain gear Danny. What was you MPG?
I love the riding with the left turn signal on!
Well done! That was hard core riding!
Man, you really like to test the limits of what appropriate and effective riding gear is, based on the conditions lol. Gawd Danny. You are incredible. I get the happy place bit. A grand effort. Congrats.
That indicator being stuck on would have done my head in 🤪
No way I could ride like that. I would've disabled them and just use hand signals.
Congratulations Danny that was a feat that you will remember the rest of your life.
In this episode, Danny films himself stopping at the service station 12 times and shows the world his home address.
This is the best example of perseverance and dedication I have ever seen. Congratulations this video gives everyone hope that they could do an iron, but and this also shows how realistic of a challenge it can be.
How good does that Pan run! Awesome bike, solid effort mate
Well done buddy, you are living your life, doing your thing, living your dream. Never stop…

Great ride, outstanding effort! So what was the problem with the indicators? Assume you fixed them before you went to bed! 🤣
Ever thought of wearing waterproof gear? Just asking.
Thank you Danny. You are such an inspiration. Legend…

1000 miles on a rigid in 24hrs… could’ve just got someone to smack your ass with a cricket bat to get the same sensation Danny! 😂😂😂
Glad to see you back on a bike.
Luvd it man. All good preparation for a cold mountain stroll???
The other garage users amazed at Danny's twerking skills, before he mounts the bone shaker and disappears into the sunset.
Well done mate. Now for a lap around Australia on the CVO
**Check the local forcast prior to ride
You’re a bloody nutcase mate! Good effort
