- I had another appointment with Dr. Chen yesterday to find out what the next steps were in order to help me pee catheter free. I didn't get the best news, and had quite a time getting things put down my phallus, and trying to pee in front of a stranger. Despite the news, it is at least nice to have a little more of a game plan.

It must feel better having a idea of what's going on. I'm glad they should be able to fix things in September. Please don't push yourself to hard to go back to work , I don't want anything to happen that'll complicate your recovery and next surgery date. Best wishes to you.

So I'm having peeing issues too... but my surgeon wants me to remove the catheter...
Also a lot of burning through the fistula site. Any advice? I should mention that I had a ring metoidioplasty.

Is there not a way the exit hole can be taped or somehow covered to test his hypothesis about the 'path of least resistance'? I feel like there'd be a simple way to test...but i guess all that is healing. (still would think there'd be a temporary fix by 2017).
I wish but he didn't really say.. just said it needs to heal. It will be fixed in Setpember but wish I didn't have to wait that long.

I am not sure :( Not on antibiotics but I am supposed to take a couple pills the day he changes my tube. I can't wait to workout again but I have no idea when that will be.

I am just... humbled at how brave you must be as a trans person (not just you, any trans person) to make this choice. I can also empathize with the notion that it's even more frightening to live a lie. But wow, I guess, as a cisgender female, I am just glad I don't have to have such painful sounding surgeries. And... I hate to say this and feel like I am obectifying you, but holy god, you are a beautiful person... so incredibly handsome and your confidence is so sexy. x

pjoj As the Mum of a trans teenager the best thing to do is to be honest and straightforward. The chances are that your Mum will already have some suspicions that there might be something you're not talking to her about. I don't know her but I do know lots of other parents of trans children and teenagers here in the UK. I belong to a charity called Mermaids for both the trans children and their families, there are lots of us across the UK of all ages. Some parents do struggle, but the vast majority just want to know what's happening so they can love and support their kids.
Did you talk to her,how did it go?
If you're still having problems getting the words out, try just writing a letter and giving it to her to read or texting her or something. Sometimes things can be easier to say through writing rather than out loud.

yes it is!
E T.....you can have phalloplasty without urethral lengthening, but this means you will still pee out of the urethral opening above your vagina.

I had to pee in front of a nurse I've never seen before, for a urodynamic test 😐 The test in it itself is very uncomfortable and a bit embarassing. Ended up needing to take meds for my bladder lol. Ahhh the joys of childbirth lol. Luckily the meds have fixed my problem 😊

I have been trying that! Luckily I have had a bit more luck with it passing up the hole at the base so that is good!
