3:00 was one of the most life changing moments in music for me when i was "young"-er. its strikingly beautiful in the midst of all the distorted guitars and screams, its like finding the most beautiful oasis in the middle of some desert. is maybe even more than that, it feels like a completely different song stuck inside of another, yet working perfectly as the only piece that could ever fit that puzzle. weirdly placed but fitting. the key change or whatever is just so great, such a nostalgic song.
I wrote the lyrics of this song to a girl while I was gone in the Marines. Last month we celebrated our 15 year anniversary... I can't thank Killswitch enough.
DUDE YES! I mean, the intro is amazing, but that part at 3:00 makes me cry everytime. It reminds me of my high school years so much. Man I miss those days.
It’s the Jogger drummer best that brings it together. And it’s what he says. “Can’t I see your face? In these tears, In these tears. Can I see your, faaaace…”

I lost my wife to cancer in November and I’m grateful to have a song like this to relate so closely to my feelings. Listening growing up, I never thought or could predict that this song would come with so much more meaning in my music rotation. It kills me to have to feel this song so deeply now, but it’s an outlet. I feel closest to her when I’m the most sad and this song just hits me right ❤️🩹

I'm 25 years old still jamming this shit in 2018! This is the original singer. The first songs very first appearance was on Guitar Hero 3 back in those good old PlayStation 2 days.
Do yourself a favor and see them. I saw them two weeks ago and in Oct with Slipknot. They fuckin kill it. Great thing about the show I went to on 2/15/2022 Howards new band "light the torch " is the opening act. So at the end of the set He comes out on stage and does song with KSE some solo with out Jesse and they do some together.
This song could be viewed from several perspectives, two that come to mind are that the view is from a man who is driven to dementia, furiously working to rebuild the memory of a loved one. This is represented by the his meticulous construction of the library, and only once all the pieces are placed correctly does he recall the memory of his loved one. My personal thoughts are that this song is about being locked up in prison, and the memory of the loved one is the only thing that gives hope and a reason to keep going (...and I see your face, through these tears...) May be wrong on both counts. Either way, this track is raw emotion and a masterpiece in its own right.

I lost my wife to cancer in November and I’m grateful to have a song like this to relate so closely to my feelings. Listening growing up, I never thought or could predict that this song would come with so much more meaning in my music rotation. It kills me to have to feel this song so deeply now, but it’s an outlet. I feel closest to her when I’m the most sad and this song just hits me right ❤️🩹
I’m sorry Stephen. I love you. We all do buddy.
I am sorry for your loss Stephen, big hugs from the PNW
I'm sorry for your loss.
That fact you made it through a hard time like that, you earned all my respect 🤘
I'm sorry for your loss many blessings and good health to you 🌸
18 years later this song still cuts deep. This is not just a song but a music masterpiece. I feel blessed 🔥
This is by far, my most beloved song in the entire world.
Through all my days of darkness, even for what lies within me, this song will always be cherished inside of my heart.
Thank you Killswitch Engage.
damn you seem dark, with poetry and shit.
Thank you.
Cristian Diaz
no problem :P
Amen buddy
This is metal, go back to your teeny pop, pansy..
Most beautiful opening of any song ever
there is loooooooooooooove
Id say "Six" by All that remains or "Forsaken" by As I lay dying are also pretty good, but this song has the best intro.
Damn, 12 years ago😞 time really flies
>:'(
Hi old man
Iam with you
I remember playing this song on Guitar Hero 3
@@BigPapaSam96 holy fuckin shit thanks I was trying to remember where I heard this for the first time, this popped my first expert cherry!
@@BigPapaSam96 I still play it 😂
Holy fuck the good days man. The fucking good days!!! I’m 27 but I grew up on this. Running around, being a lil shit. I got a fam now and they ask me “dad, why you listen to this” told them, wait till your transition young one.
I agree 👌
Your kids sound rude. Mine love my music taste.
@@PopeyeBjj86 they’re far from it. It was only a simple question. How is them being a little kid and asking questions, rude? I seriously hope you know what you’re doing as a father. Assuming cos you can’t distinguish a child’s curiosity with being rude
This version of the song is the best hands down. Howard’s voice is top notch! Please never get rid of this video!
Howard will always be the MAN!
+Matthew Francis Always bro, always
+ViciousDave4Life i think its because adam wanted to do the screaming.
👐 👇
Totally agree!
+Matthew Francis bahahha jesse is soo much better than howard!!!
My goodness. Just found this song and it’s been on repeat for 3 days. Sorry I’m late, but there is love
When you're done with killswitch. Light the torch is the next band (Howard's new band)
@@joshbrzezinski7993I wouldn't go there yet, I'd check out Devil You Know or even Blood Has Been Shed.
I discovered this song via Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock! It is both beautiful and beastly!
Me to dude
me too
I still play this. On PlayStation 2. Old school is still cool. 🤘🙌❤️
Me too!
Also on burnout paradise
i don´t have goosebumps, my hair is giving standing ovations.
Lol..love it
Lmao
Listened to this since it's release and it still brings the tears as I've felt the pain he's expressing.
Right?! It's so emotionally powerful!
Always get chills when i hear the first notes of this song.
This song reminds me of my girlfriend of 4 years that I lost to cancer back in July 26 2020 it's been hard for me but I'm doing what I need to do to keep going because I know that's what she would want me to do
Stay strong brother 🤘🏼🖤
So sorry to hear that man I hope you’re doing okay, stay strong bro 🙏🏻
We all wish you the best bro❤🤘
Damn bro, you stay strong brother, losing a loved one really hits you hard.
Bless up brother 🙏
16 ears later? Man like it was yesterday. Still brings on the feels.
I wish I had 16 ears to listen to this masterpiece
@@Jonathan-dj3yb Beat me to it haha
Please don’t remind me that this song is 16 years old
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thought this song was like around late 2005 or mid 2006. Anyway I can't believe how time flies so quickly.
Just discovered this
I feel very nostalgic listening to it to the late 2000s early 2010s. Music really is a time machine
The intro of the song is probably The best I have heard anywhere
Discovered this song and band on guitar hero!! Such great times!! Guitar hero foreva 🎉
This is one of the greatest songs ever made
Rhys Jones agreed
Rhys Jones I agree and I'm a sixty year old blues guitarist 🎸🎸🎸👍
Words can’t describe the feelings I feel from this song. I couldn’t love it more.
This album is still one of the best albums ive ever heard.
the intro with just the guitar is angelic
I prefer this version to the album version. I just love how the screaming harmonises with the clean vocals. Really shows how versatile Howard was! X
He's the man 👍
Funny that you say this, as i was only just thinking this, i've pretty much only heard the other version, the end of the song where he sings softly alongside the screaming, is so fucking good
Well I might be the only one but I prefer the Album version AND the end of this one ('' Dying inside these walls'')
Not at all, Original version with screams is much better,
this version was made for commercial reasons to be played on radio and tv.. its a metal band if someone dont like the screams should rather learn to enjoy it or listen to something else
I do believe the harmony clean vocal part at the end was sung by Adam D. Just as Adam also sang “Can I see you face, in these tears.....” bridge part
I watched you walk away
Hopeless with nothing to say
I screen my eyes
Hoping to see you again
This is my curse
(The longing)
This is my curse
(To)
This is my curse
(The yearning)
This is my curse
There is love burning to find you
Will you wait for me? Will you be there?
Your silence haunts me
But still I hunger for you
This is my curse
(The longing)
This is my curse
(To)
This is my curse
(The needing)
This is my curse
There is love burning to find you
Will you wait for me?
Still I want and still I ache
But still I wait to see you again
Dying inside these walls
Dying inside these walls
Can I see your face in these tears?
In these tears and I see your face
There is love, there is love
There is love, there is love
There is love, there is love
There is love, there is love
This song is hauntingly sad.
No amount of Words can express how beautiful this song is.
But tears can....
It's a damn River that's flowing rn
The Howard era of KSE is so awesome, and Jesse is awesome too, this just always hit different
I remember listening to this song all day long!
I just noticed... This has been on youtube for over 10 years!
martij30 I
+martij30 almost 11 years now
martij30 11 years buddy
martij30 okay im already 21 dont make me feel 50 damn it lmao
I'm 25 years old still jamming this shit in 2018! This is the original singer. The first songs very first appearance was on Guitar Hero 3 back in those good old PlayStation 2 days.
I get chills from that first initial scream and just start head banging. Such a good feeling
Adam repeating there is love is at the end is killer!!
Killswitch Engage still giving me chills 13 years later. !!
3:09 Thats some emotional, powerful shit…..
How's Southpark Clyde?
+Clyde Donovan
When I see your face ... in this fears in this tears ... KSE
Fuck off Clyde : Cartman since ever
Nearly 20 years since the release of this timeless song.
0:00 to 0:30 is my alarm to wake up
That's legendary bro
and my ringtone
I don't live with many regrets... not seeing this performed live... is one of them... Thank you KSE for the years of therapy.
Bruh 1000%
its so many versions of this song. one more growls one more guitar one more screams. I like this version because Howard's voice is clear.
You can keep your watered down UA-cam normie version. I'll take the studio version errday.
Extraordinarily Basic
"Normie version"
Seriously? The guy can sing, and the instruments are still clear.
Ill agree. One with more screaming/growling is WAY better
first time hearing this version, both are great but I prefer more screaming something about it makes it more intense imo.
I agree I like this version way better I’m not much into metal music lol
I first heard this song on guitar hero, its such a badass song, the guitar is amazing.
This song could be viewed from several perspectives, two that come to mind are that the view is from a man who is driven to dementia, furiously working to rebuild the memory of a loved one. This is represented by the his meticulous construction of the library, and only once all the pieces are placed correctly does he recall the memory of his loved one.
My personal thoughts are that this song is about being locked up in prison, and the memory of the loved one is the only thing that gives hope and a reason to keep going (...and I see your face, through these tears...)
May be wrong on both counts. Either way, this track is raw emotion and a masterpiece in its own right.
This song just like well aging wine. It gets better when words can’t say your feelings but this song does
Yesssss.
Howard vocals are unmatched .. I love this song soooooo much, takes me back to highschool days when i first met my girl.
The creativity in this music video... I remember how impactful this was seeing it long ago. Just relived it.
the opening scream is just......I feel like rescuing a space princess from an evil floating magical head riding a blue whale
I just think you're high.
+bailey burrows I was
Another pothead
funny... that's exactly what I thought
how do you get pothead out of that
I forgot who showed me this years ago, but thank you. I still get emotional to this day :p

Since everyone is sharing, might as well share.
Back when I was in high school, I didn’t have any to take me to school on Mondays and I didn’t like taking the bus. So I would either walk or take my bike to school. I remember always enjoying this song as I rode my bike to school.
Now, I enjoy this song in my car on my way home from work.
This song just hits different when your pedaling as hard as possible
Killswitch Engage, Atreyu, As I lay dying. This Era just hit so different than today.
I first heard this song in burnout paradise back in 2011 and I fell in love with it every since.....12 years later in 2023 that end still gives me fcking goosebumps I feel that shit to my core and I can't do anything but close my eyes.....one of the best rock songs ever made in my opinion pure classic.....
that ending though..incredibly beautiful
I have a lot of memories with this song, and it still holds true to this day.

one of the best guitar riffs ever written
This song is such a masterpiece, still gives me chills. That random feeling of nostalgia over nothing. Our descendents will look back at this like we look at Beethoven
Uh Howard's voice is just incredible!
I wish he didn't leave 😞
The most beautiful introduction to any metal song I’ve ever listened too
I wasnt a fan of them when i was a teen. I was/still am into death and black metal. But i had friends who loved this band. So I have some really beautiful memories attached to these songs.
Стільки часу минуло а деякі хіти того часу качають по сьогоднішній день ❤❤❤ всім миру і добра
Раніше музика і справді була кращою. Особливо метальчик, який на сьогоднішній день є мертвим, на жаль.
God I love killswitch. I remember when I first heard this song back in 2006. My best fiends mom would pick us up after school, we would go to his house and eat mac n cheese, play gears of war, and listen to this song. Now I’m waking up and packing my kids lunches and heading off to work. Love you kse😁
