This video is actually very profound. For those that don't understand the music video, it's the story of the circus freak that looks up to the aerials performers. He closes his eyes and imagines a world where he is wealthy and powerful, however, his limited knowledge of real life frustrates him even in his imagination, like when he is questioned by the other kid.
This goes in hand to the lines "When you loose small mind you free your life / when you fee your life eternal prize"
What that basically means is that our limited perception, like that kid's, holds us captive. If we are able to confront our perceptions of life we'll get the eternal prize, which is happiness.

This is one of those bands that comes around every decade or two and just completely rips shit like no one else has before them, and no matter what, no one will ever come around that fills that exact same niche. Completely unique, even though they employ elements that other bands have before them, still no one does or will do what they do the same way again.

I genuinely feel bad for people who won't give rock/metal music enough of a chance to give SOAD a chance. Band made a huge impact on my childhood.

I was abused all my childhood and early adult life.
As a kid I would lay on the cold basement floor of my parents house and listen to this. This music was never allowed of course in a fundamentalist household.
But I would sneak it, stay up late and listen to it and cry.
I ran away at 22 and life ate me whole. Became addicted to drugs, one bad relationship after another, raped and abused more, and ended up becoming a trafficking survivor.
This song speaks volumes to me.
The scene where the photographer is screaming reminds me so much of my childhood and posing for dirty pictures as a young woman.

I decided to come back to the songs and enjoy them in a different way now that I’m grown and have overcome a lot but still have a few more things to conquer and get over. The meaning of the song, I think:
It's about how people get sucked into materialistic culture. They get obsessed with fame and popularity and money. They become like this kid, altered beyond human recognition (plastic surgery being the most direct example) in an effort to try to be perfect in the eyes of society. They lure you in from childhood by convincing you that this is what success looks like, but the kid isn't happy because this doesn't make you happy. This - money, fame, being a celebrity - isn't success at all. To be happy, you have to "lose small mind". You have to see past this small picture of earning and buying and getting famous, and find your real purpose in life and do what fulfils you. Only then will you claim eternal prize. True value. Because after all, life is a waterfall. Just a small flash of activity where we all get to be unique. Before and after the waterfall. Before we're born and after we die; we're all the same. We can't take any of our money or fans out of this life. They get lost and forgotten one way or another. That's what makes these things useless. But during the waterfall, all we can honestly do is be happy, find peace, and try not to lose ourselves.
For a band who almost exclusively focuses on worldwide issues, this is a very personal song. That's what makes it special. It's a personal message to each and every one of you to see past the facade and live for yourself.

I may only be 13 but this band means so much to me and has saved me through my lowest point. Serj has a beautiful voice, daron also has an amazing voice, although John has some not so great views on politics, hes a great drummer and shavos skills are unbeatable. Toxicity is the best SOAD album in my eyes, because it was the one that saved me most. Thank you System 🤘❤

For those of you that dont get the video: The kid is a Circus freak and he envies the Aerial Performers, he then imagines a world where everyone looks up to him, but he isn't happy with this world given his lack of understanding of the real world (when he confronts the child reporter).
