On vacation from Oklahoma. My wife and I ate dinner here tonight. We both had the Loco Moco. I upgraded to the fried rice. (Thanks Felix for recommending it!) My wife had the potatoes. We both loved it! Their butter rolls w/jam are AMAZING! We got two cocoa puffs to eat later. Thank you for showing Liliha Bakery on your channel. We really enjoyed it! Best wishes from Clay and Crystal!
Liliha is the mother of all diners/bakeries. For me #1 in the world. Even when I compare to the very best in my hometown Chinatown in Vancouver from the past. Places full of nostalgia and are now gone. I can't lie nothing touches Liliha. It's really special that it has been around forever. It has to be that location for me too. First time I went was with my Hawaiian- local relatives and now the Patriarch of that family has passed on. I hadn't seen him in a couple decades. A lump in my throat just watching this video. Love the old photo in the restaurant bcuz that's how I saw it last. This is my sentimental fave video of yours so far. OMG the Mahi Mahi 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
Those are some truly nostalgic memories to be cherished. Mahalo for sharing your experience with us! We were very proud to be able to feature liliha bakery and so glad you enjoyed this episode! 🙏🤙
whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner; which makes it’s breakfast as I comment. I always have a habit to watch you both post the best context ever as I eat my food😭 we appreciate you two so much 🫶🏽 thank you for giving us OGs places to eat!
I used to go there weekly in the 70’s because my ex-wife grew up in Puunui, hamburger steak was always the best, miss that place, living on Maui doesn’t have a place like that! Take care…🤙🏼
Oh yum the Poi Mochi Donuts are my favorite! Last time I visited my daughter in Honolulu I brought a box of them back to the mainland for everyone to try and no one was disappointed, even 2 day old donuts!
Aloha Amanda and Felix. I love Liliha Bakery especially the original location. Awesome video and the food looked delicious. Poi mochi donuts are the best!
OMG!! My ultimate favorite is Chantilly frosting on the cake and Cocoa Puffs. Since I moved away from Home I had to learn how to make my own Chantilly frosting (With the help of getting the recipe and going to culinary school). Took me awhile to get it perfect. It has to taste like Lilihas. If it don't I don't want it. It has to taste buttery and caramely.. It's funny because I've never eaten food from there. Only time I ever went to Lilihas was for the Chantilly 🤣🤷🏽♀️ The food looks good😋 The shell of the Cocoa Puffs is a Choux pastry. Pâte á Choux
@@AmandaFelixEats it's time consuming when it's made right. Some people cheat and use cornstarch to thicken it but it changes the taste.. it should thicken itself but it takes forever
I know that spot! Super wombat local ono grindz. Felix is a burger man like me and rocks it but when Amanda gives it up you know its goodern' heck! Love y'all and mahalo!
Never sat at the counter cuz it's always busy but will definitely order takeout. Hoping the Pearl Highlands locations will be a full service restaurant since it is so close to me!!! Can't wait. Funny the coco puff that has the powdered sugar is just a mini cream puff...the OG puff, but so cute.
Another great review on a classic favorite! Congrats on collaborating with Liliha! Loved and tempted by all your choices! I had no idea the mahi mahi was such a big serving! The desserts and baked goods have a reputation but who knew about the food? That Pearl Highland is awesome! Right down the street from my old stomping grounds! Thanks for sharing! I think it’s cool how you two work as a true team showcasing food. You even know what the other was meaning to say. 😉👍🏿 Hoping you get more calls from other up n coming or even OG eateries to help showcase their food! You do a great job! Jjep up the great descriptions, camera closeups, sound, pro tip, and Felix Protips!!!! Mahalo!💕👍🏿😀
Wonderful video, my kind of iconic place. Love Liliha Bakery, the Coco Puffs are the stuff of dreams. Great food selections, I would grind them all. Especially the Loco Moco with the upgrade. The Mahi Plate looks good also.
Grew up 2 blocks down on Kuakini near Lanakila Elementary. Even went to L&L before it was L&L and Janes Fountain, Masa's before it was Masa's across the street and several blocks away Shimazu Shave Ice before they only served shave ice. My 4 year old grandson wanted the hamburger with fries. When he got it, he was disappointed because the fries that came with it was waffle fries. He said the hamburger was good. Used to save up my allowance to there. Mahalo for the nostalgia.
Lilihas diner\bakery looks amazing. These are the type of diners I grew up on, sad that there isn't many around anymore, these are hidden gems. All of the food looked so amazing, and it looked so well staffed with all the cooks wait-staff. I'd eat there weekly if I were fortunate enough to live in Hawaii. Loved the video, 🙏❤️🌟
I always liked Lilihas bakery over kings bakery. I would love to see u guys try all 4 locations n try diff items ! Man I do miss those Hawaiian pastries 🤙
Oh man that loco moco makes me miss home so bad!!! Moved to TX 7 years ago, I watch your videos and it drives my husband crazy because I don’t want to eat anything here 🤣. That loco moco reminds me of Times Coffee Shop back in my home town!
Oh my gosh!! I loved every single thing you chose to eat! The mahi-mahi though! I thought it was a giant hash brown at first! Swear! Everything, right down to the coco-puffs. I want!! Thank you for sharing, and when I can finally get there to see my ojisan, I will for sure visit Liliha Bakery. Thank you for sharing. You’re THE cutest couple ever! Hahaha! Felix…..Your question about the color of your shirt, reminded me of that BIG question from years ago-about that dress-Do you see blue/black or white/gold…. LOL. I see your shirt as purple. ☺️
Lol! Atomic jelly exploded in our luggage, that’s us! Great video done right, at the counter at the original. Aww man, making me hungry! Headed there soon to restock our jelly. 🥰
I was just in Waikiki for almost 2 weeks and went to the one at International Marketplace 3 times while there. Had the smoked pork belly Loco Moro twice, the short stake pancakes, and the poi donuts!!!! So, so, soooooooo good!!! And those butter rolls……YES!!!!
Haha!!! Love the PAMPANGA Kitchen reference in the beginning! Videos getting betta and betta friends! Liliha was a great choice and was waiting on y'all to feature it! Oh so many memories and we only go OG location. This was a very adventurous video and you both seemed more lively too:o) Hey, I'm digging the disco music video at the start and something I can see Felix jam to! Hahaha. Ed from Pampanga says ALOHA to you locos!
Mahimahi looks so 'ono! That's how I like deluxe burger, keep it simple and perfect! Slightly chilled coco puffs on a Las Vegas summer day is so perfect!! Felix shirt is ube color 😂
Love my Liliha bakery. Mrs & I go to Ala Moana for parking but the food is awesome at all the locations. We always get the waffard with our breakfast as a side, you know "sweet & savory". Their burger is one of the best I have had. We always get a box of poi mochi donuts & their apple malasada to go plus a jar of the "red jelly". That is the real goodness. 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Wow, going to have my first Loco Moco at Liliha's with a MahiMahi with potatoe9 salad to go. Never had on on Big Island or Oahu. I must have been doing a vegetarian madness era.
That Liliha location looks way better than the one at Intermational Market Place Waikiki. Gotta try that old location. Wonder if the prices are better too.
When you're camera fell, it was trying to reach all those pastries. It couldn't stand there anymore watching you guys consume all the goodies by yourself, it wanted in...🍰🍩😋YUM!
My favorite spot for Loco Moco! 🔥 Love that smokey charred crust on the patties…I always get an extra egg too lol! The butter rolls are the best I’ve had…nothing can compare.😎 I always take a to-go order of poi doughnuts and cream puffs to Kona Coffee Purveyors on Waikiki to wash it down with an Iced Vanilla Latte w/ Oatmilk🤤! I hate how I watch your videos late at night hahah😂✌🏻
highlighter jelly lmaaaaoooo 😄 omg i've had their delish mahi mahi as a sandwich and it was YUMMM. i usually enjoy their old-school breakfast choices (vienna sausages, spam, and though i'm not sure if they have it anymore, scottish bangers lol) 'cuz so many places don't anymore. the classic cheeseburger looked especially good, with that nicely charred crust from their flat-top griddle and perfectly melted american cheese (gotta be american cheese on a burger, i will fight anyone on this lol) and though you don't like onions, amanda, a burger is THE thing to have it on. that onion bite is essential on a juicy burger ❤ i hope their nostalgic counter never goes away (though i believe they have added a dining room behind the griddle line. there's a doorway that leads there i think) and waiting for seats at the counter is just part of the experience. ok, now i'm hungry so thanks for the visit! 😊
We too hope they never get rid of the counter! It’s all part of the experience and by far the best part (other than the food of course!😋) mahalo raeann🤙🏻
The mahimahi plate with potato salad and the butter rolls and jelly at that busy counter have been my standard order at Liliha Bakery since I was a little kid. And of course we always took home Coco Puffs and Anpan (for my parents)! They used to sell the frozen waffle batter and even prepared waffles (like Eggos) to take home. My new take-home pastries (at the Macy's Ala Moana bakery are the poi donuts, but I also get the OG Coco Puffs, chocolate-topped ones, and cream puffs. I don't care for the matcha ones like you.
Love your videos!! Im so excited to try as many places as I can while in Hawaii next week! 😊 Are most places open to cash transactions yet or are they still more debit/credit card???
Is there a timeframe for when the new location at Pearl Highlands is going to open? We live right by that area, but we're moving to Japan next month, so I'm not sure if we will get to visit the new one before we leave. 😭
