Didn’t care to try Marugame when we were in Oahu coz hubs dont like soup but after this video, i gotta check it out now. Good thing there are several branches here in Cali.
Been watching your videos for months and yesterday we did your north shore food trucks yum enjoying your choices on our week in Hawaii and looking out for you everywhere
Totally latw to the party but if you weren't aware, in the video, when you giysnwalk into Foet St. Cafe, the owner, Vince, is sitting at the table on the right in front of the soda machine. His son and wofe also work there. Vince used to work at Mariposa waaaay back in the day. Super humble, good people. Our favorites there are to have the pad thai with shrimp, the curry with garlic chicken, and their special banh mi. I agree that the pad thai isn't authentic but it is very comforting especially if you need carbs during a super stressful day at work.
You missed the Piroshkis!!!!!! You have to go back and try them!!!!! My grandma first took me to eat them over 40 years ago and now I have my mother bring them to me when she comes to visit in California!
Wow! Thanks for taking us to Fort Street Mall! I have wonderful memories of shopping and going to movies when it was just Fort Street in the 1950s. Mmmahalo!
Fort Street Cafe was my go to when I worked in downtown. Loved the garlic chicken and pad thai. Then, I'd go to the smoothie store next door and get mango flavor, yum!
Aloha! I love your videos! ❤ I took my notes from your videos on my last visit to Oahu last month and I am planning my next visit in January and I am planning my visit around many of your recommendations. Mahalo!
For those who aren’t familiar… HPU = Hawaii Pacific University. I miss walking through Fort Street Mall but admittedly never cared for the food there. But now that Marugame Udon has a location here I’d consider coming to visit when I’m back home. 🍜🤙🏽 Great video as always A&F.
Amanda & Felix… Because I’ve been living in the Bay Area for the past 12 years… just checking to see if that fast food stall at Fort St. Mall that sells Perogies still around.. you guys rock. Truly enjoy the vlog content & the pace of narration in a steady clarity & not rushed. Aloha!
Aloha Amanda & Felix. I've never tried cold udon noodles, it looks good. The expression on your face (Amanda) when Felix thought Dyson was priceless. I really enjoy you showing all types of foods on your channel, especially various types of Asian foods. The boba drink looked interesting, I've never had a drink with custard in it, sounds good.
Jollibee spaghetti? The food spots look great. I appreciate you addressing parking. We were in Cali and getting to some spots is tough. Parking is important.
Oh man, looks really tasty! Another great review! Went to that udon shop awhile back. Thanks for the name trivia! Didnt know that. It would b so cool if they could revitalize that area! Parking was hard when i went a couple years back. But i think i will revisit the area just for the other eateries! Hawaiian food business industry would b wise to recruit you folks to feature all local food! Great job! Love the pro tips and your bloopers are my desserts!Aloha!💕👍🏿😉😀
Sweet! I love the Waikiki location but man those lines and crowded location definitely takes away from the enjoyment. Good to know about the second location!
Thank You Amanda & Filex, I've been there before but never tried the cold noodles everything looks delicious. I'd like to go every place you went to day YUMMY Is the Word. LOVE & GOD Bless You Both Aloha Always Sister Chrissy Honolulu Hi 😙⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘💜💙
Planning a trip in April 2023 for cruise from Honolulu. We love the local places that you featured in this video to try. Loving all your videos. We wish we can visit all the places you show.
Hi Buddies, Tsukenjos is on the Bishop street side, best local roast pork & mushroom chicken, got more local food at great prices. Gotta get there early if you can food runs out quick my coworker goes at 10am.
Amanda: "Easilier!" 😂I heard that explanation, too. The management should just change both to Marukame! But yeah if you really want their udon, Fort St. Mall is the better option!
Also on Bishop St.is Kaimana Kitchen & Leo's Taverna. And right around from where you started filming is C-Mui Center. Haven't been to Downtown district in awhile. MAHALO for thee heads up!
Thanks for reviewing Fort Street Cafe. Definitely a local hidden gem restaurant. I always get their Thai panang curry and garlic chicken combo. I think their Thai panang curry is the best on the island.
Glad to know about another Marugame Udon place , I did notice this on another UA-camr going to McDonald’s (he rides a e-scooter and grabs food and tastes it) This makes me think , if you are waiting in line and if the line is around the corner in Waikiki would it be quicker to grab a bus to Honolulu location? Food for thought !
Love your videos. Not sure if you guys tried or post a video for Sam’s Kitchen on 353 royal hawaiian ave, Honolulu. They’re known for the garlic shrimp. We go there every time we come to visit 😊
I’ve never had udon noodles, but you both, with Marugame’s help, made me crave it now. It looks and “sounds” so good with all the slurps. Even though the udon was cold, it looked like it was on FIRE 🔥. Those chicken nugget strips looked ono. The Vietnamese place looked really good too; I had some Pad Thai the other day, but I’m sure it’s way more legit in Hawaii. I have to stop watching your episodes after I eat dinner. You make me hungry all over again. Lastly, the dessert is so different to what I’m used to calling “something sweet” after dinner. I would love to try it because I love to try something new. Thank for broadening my horizons. We hope to try some new treats when we visit Hawaii. Mahalo!!! 🤙🏽🧋🧄🍗🍜🌺
Please try it, it's actually pretty good. I'm retired in Okinawa, we have many restaurants as well as all convience stores that offer cold noodles. I highly recommend!
Cold noodles in the Hawaiian Humidity was absolutely divine!😋 Also having tea for dessert so nice cuz you get a bit of sweetness without having to overeat 🤤 hehe Hope you can try then out! Mahalo Armando🤙🏼🤙🏼
@@dennistani1986 I wish I could visit Okinawa. I’ve always wanted to go since I saw Karate Kid 2. It looks like a beautiful place with a lot of history and lovely people. The food is the boba in the tea!
@@AmandaFelixEats you guys know how to do it! I love how you guys know how to take it all in and enjoy every bite. I need to learn more from you both. I would so love to see you and learn your ways in person. 😄
Oh wow the cold udondudhes and the fried foods looked so good in the first restaurant 😍 the second one had great food also though I love an awesome Thai curry. The bobba teas looked awesome!
Thank you for this video. I work from home most of the time but was really sad when I would come into the office in downtown sometimes because many good eateries in downtown closed during the pandemic and I don’t know where else to try but this video was very helpful!
My favorite was the Garlic Chicken with the Pad Thai noodles. It doesn't look like any Pad Thai I ever ate, but looks like it might be tasty. Mahalo and Aloha.
I have to try Yi Fang in Oahu because the Yi Fang in Irvine, Cali is not very good unfortunately. Definitely would love to see more foodie adventures in the Downtown area.
Perfect timing! Best weather and the holiday decor should be up. Goma Tei Ramen, sushi belt Kuru Kuru at Kahala Mall. A couple affordable yet yummy spots. Poke at Tamuras!
Aloha Amanda and felix Need to try that Marugame Udon location. Not sure if you checked out Vicky's Filipino Fast Food next to L&L drive inn, I always get the Taro with Coconut milk, their Noodles, Pinakbet & I'll get a Russian pioscki from Rada's which is connected to Vicky's Filipino Fast Food.
Good to see/hear that the two Marugame locations are equally good. Don't even have the heart anymore to wait in that line at the Kuhio location, no matter the craving for those cold udon noodles. Last time we went there, it was for 'breakfast' to beat the rush. In pre-Covid days, think that they actually opened really early. I recently had Grilled Pork Spring Rolls - Nem Nướng Cuốn in SoCal. Never had anything like that; wondering if Felix's mom makes them at home? Would love to try making them at home.
Bergamot gives me that toasty late aromatic in the Earl Gray. I love to use a Bergamot essential oil instead of chemical perfumes. Nice when used with Lavender.
Love your channel! Are these places you feature cash only? Particularly the Vietnamese restaurant. We are in the process of planning a trip to Honolulu. Thank you in advance.
I used to go to that second location often. I admit the pad Thai noodles are amazing. But once as I waited for my food a cook came out and stood close to the register area. Felix has the BEST voice for presenting videos. Thank you both!!!
So jealous 😢😢😢😊😊😊. Looks so delicious!!!
Marukame Udon is pretty good!
I would love the first restaurant.😊
You need to try Red Pepper thats right next to Fort Street cafe, the honey garlic chicken is sooo bomb!

I finally figure out why there’s two different word-Marukame & Marugame!!
Try Raddas Piroski in fort street mall. beef and chedder piroski with fried squid and salad is winnahs.

Every time I watch your videos I get sad because I see a place I missed when I was in Hawaii… time to start planning the next visit.
You'll have an big list on your next visit! 👍
Seimen is cold and Nyegn Myung is cold, and I love both, even if I can't spell them.

Theres a small hole in the wall shop on ft. st mall that has 1.25 musubis, used to be a dollar but cheapest musubis on the island from what I've seen
Mahalo Amanda and Felix!!!!! The garlic chicken looks delicious!!!
It was tasty!
Love the honest review on the pad Thai. Will def sub that out for something else.

Their noodles are ono! Especially if you like Udon! 😋
Great show guys! Yup I remember that most places in Hawaii close early….don’t know why but I guess it’s the lifestyle there. Mahalo
It’s probably because the offices in the area usually close around that time😜

I used to work downtown and goto Marukame Udon and Fort Street for their Garlic Chicken and Panang Curry. Omg I miss that so much
There was a Korean poke/sushi place near the subway, but forgot the name. But their spicy tuna was served a size of baseball!
You pretty much used to get all the things we got! Happy we got to recreate your foodie adventure🙌🏼
