The both of you are such seasoned travelers to Oahu. I'm so glad you take the time to show such local spots. Mahalo for all your hard work bringing us such great videos.
Wow …lots of great food at the market there. Definitely could brings lots of those food items home. Breakfast looked awesome along with the panCakes. Thanks for sharing all the fun adventures !! 👍👍❤❤🤗🤗🥰🥰
Surprised us by posting the video a few hours earlier than usual. Liliha's counter service brings back memories with my Mom when I was a kid and we would have lunch at Woolworths, Newberries, Kress or Walgreens at their counters. Remember those days when pharmacies had food/counter service. Money was tight so we didn't eat out alot but it was such a treat. Miss those times. Hawaiian foodie paradise!
Good catch, Yvonne! We released the video early because we were heading back form NYC yesterday morning and wanted to post our usual new video release posts on IG and Facebook while at the airport. You're bring back some classic store names!
Aloha Bill and Lisa: Thank you for doing this segment featuring Liliha Bakery, a bakery I used to walk to when I lived on Liliha Street. That Loco Moco made me really miss home this afternoon - I had the dish at Liliha Bakery when I was home last time. Lisa’s breakfast meal looked like a gourmet delight - LOL. Foodland has changed its approach to food since I was last at the Ala Moana Store; it used to be a regular grocery store. I see that Foodland is selling more prepared takeout food - their offerings looked great. Looking forward to your future journey to Hawaii vlog. Best wishes and much🧧! 🤙 to you and ohana! Mahalo!
Aloha Bill! Liliha Bakery is such a classic place. We're sure they're pretty nostalgic for you folks. We've noticed that too about the Ala Moana Foodland, lots of food offerings. We ended up getting some chicken skins and the chicken thigh - Spam musubi packs for the plane ride home. Thanks for watching! =)
Love all your videos. We just came back from our first trip to Hawaii and I used all your videos to plan our whole trip! All your food recommendations are always spot on!
My husband And I went on our honey moon to Hawaii and WE LOVED IT SO MUCH!!! I want to go back to Hawaii again! ❤ have a wonderful day Bill and Lisa! Both of you are AWESOME I enjoy watching your videos 😊
Love your vlogs! I just got married and we celebrated our honeymoon in London, Amsterdam, and Paris! Your videos helped our planning so much! -Brittany & Harold
The Ala Wai Boat Harbor just in back of Prince Waikiki is where the Gilligan's Island tv series shot their intro segment to their show back in Nov 1963 just after the JFK assassination. You look closely at the intro you will see a ship's flag at half-mast. Liliha Bakery's hotcakes are truly FAMOUS like Zippy's chili. Their frozen hotcake batter was a popular fund- raising item in the 60s/70s/80s/90s like sweet bread items. I remember eating their pancakes for the first time as a kid in the late 1960s, wow it was so different and tasty! Also i remember Liliha Bakery always calling their pancakes 'hotcakes', never calling them 'pancakes'. When I was a kid I thought there must have been a difference between the two words 🤙
Aloha Bill & Lisa! I love that you visit Oahu so often! I will be making my second trip of the year ( I've been visiting Hawaii since the early 80's) beginning Sunday. I spend my time either on/at/in the water or eating so I a definitely hitting up some of your recommendations! I'm looking forward to breakfast at Liliha Bakery...yum! Mahalo!
My friend cuts a square in the middle of the pancake and pours the syrup into the square. She then dips and refills as needed. Love the veggie omelette with the fried rice.
Ah, many happy memories eating at that old Liliha Bakery counter with my family -- usually having to wait for seats together. My go-to lunch was always the mahimahi. Love those butter rolls and red jelly, too. (Iʻve bought a bottle of the jelly to eat at home.) The waffles are great, too. They used to sell frozen waffles like tasty Eggos, but now they just sell the batter for pancakes and waffles. And of course, gotta get the coco puffs to take home (or just come in to get the coco puffs to take to parties.) My mom and dad also loved their ampan (Japanese bun with anko - red bean paste. At Foodland, my favorite chicken in the deli are the vinegar wings and the karaoke chicken with honey kochujang sauce! And of course, several kinds of poke to go.
The original Liliha Bakery is such a classic place, nothing like the modern restaurant at the Ala Moana. Hope this location continues to thrive and serve the community for generations to come. Gotta love all the bentos at Foodland!
@@billandlisa The interior of the original Liliha Bakery was renovated a few years ago, but they kept the same setup and overall feel of the old diner/bakery, but what you see now is the cleaner, more "modern" kitchen area, floors, and pastry cases. The LB at Ala Moana was originally a nice place for lunch one of the original stores of the shopping the iconic Liberty House, which was replaced by Macy's Then for many years it was the Pineapple Room, run by my favorite fine-dining chef/restaurant owner, Alan Wong, and he sold his gourmet teas, chocolates, and other products at the coffee bar where the Liliha Bakery sections is now. They renovated again when the Pineapple Room closed, but that's why the Liliha Bakery at Ala Moana Macy's is a nice restaurant and not your typical diner. But I still miss the Pineapple Room (and Alan Wong's restaurant, which closed during the pandemic). It was my favorite place to take visiting friends because it was convenient and they could enjoy a good meal where we could talk, and then go shopping in the mall!
Oh my gosh the breakfast place you both visited at the beginning was amazing 😮 the pancakes are huge ! Love the look of the loco moco. I’m a huge lover of bakery items, pastries and donuts are my favourite.

My cousin says fried chicken skin is a favorite!!😅😅 i never seen these in torrance or long beach 😂 you guys even make grocery shopping fun!!! 😂i could follow you around all day just to hear your jokes and food opinions. Bill and Lisa your room did have the view. You guys are so lucky to have a weekend like this. All the food looked wonderful. I really don't understand why they make pancakes so huge either. lol. Cool bag Lisa. Take care guys.

Great video . I always been nervous to take food on the airline . Always thinking they will take it away. What the policy ? You guys are traveling experts thanks I can’t wait for your videos to be back in order. 😊
You can take any food onboard as long as it's not liquid or gel. We once brought a whole round cake. lol. Airline carry-on policies differ, but typically limited to 2 pieces, one roller bag and one personal item (purse, backpack, cake, etc). Our video releases are typically in order, the Zippy's released early because it was more time sensitive because of their recent grand opening.
We're just running with the 'Super Thanks' option for now. The thing is, if we start a Patreon, we would want to offer something special to the members like special live streams, etc. Holding down f/t jobs and committing to 2 videos a week, our plates are pretty full. lol

Foodland is always so fun to shop at! My soft spot is for the poke.. Aloha nui
Can't walk out without buying something, right? lol
Off topic, but nice to see that Delta has restarted service to Japan from Hawaii.
My friend cuts a square in the middle of the pancake and pours the syrup into the square. She then dips and refills as needed. Love the veggie omelette with the fried rice.
Ooh... Pro Tip! We'll have to try that!
That garlic fried rice looked scrumptious…

Bill said "a little food" in the zipper bag. When Lisa opened the bag well LOL. For those who don't know "takai" it means pricey.
Next time visit the food land farms in Pearl City. The fried chicken skins are amazing.
Oh Yummm !!
Among the few places left that still have counter seating. 4:17 grilled portuguese sausage! (most places cook it on flattop grills).
Love the team effort necessary to eat that pancake. Lisa didn't flinch when Bill asked for her help. There are no weak links in the Bill & Lisa channel! 🙂
Including sausage links 🙂
Pancake definitely a sharable item! So good!
Thanks!
Thank you for the Super Thanks, Lisa!! We appreciate the support. =)
Try the pork adobo bowl and banana bread from Olenas. It’s in the Dole Cannery next to the Costco in Honolulu!
Thanks for the tip!
