So many of us Canadians look at her as the true queen of the chanson genre, rather than a certain other more internationally known Québécoise singer. Have followed her for well over 20 years and have been fortunate to see her live on her home turf of Montréal several times.
“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends. Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations. The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) ua-cam.com/video/eHSyk4SGtuY/v-deo.html is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. So glad you finally got to this one, Andy! Lara's always amazing, obviously, but this performance is one of my favorites from her. Not only does she sing it beautifully, act it beautifully, and immerse herself fully into the character of the song, the lyrics are gorgeously devastating. I also love the journey of the song in that she starts it broken and lost, sick and sad, but builds to that turn where she realizes that if she continues as she's been, she'll end up dying alone listening to herself singing the same old song about being sick... and then she finishes the song angry and strong, not sick and broken but sick of living this way. The way the lyrics and her performance combine to transform the meaning of "I'm sick" from the beginning to the end of the story is musical artistry and storytelling at its best. Anyway, glad you liked it. Anyone who could watch this performance and be like, "meh" is not a person I want to know. 😀

Sándor Péter - Párbaj: ua-cam.com/video/DgIUXje_-h0/v-deo.html (The musical theatre actors are also unbelievably talented here! This song is Confrontation from Jekyll & Hyde in hungarian.)
Kerényi Miklós Máté - Kölyköd voltam: ua-cam.com/video/32TdGAryt-o/v-deo.html (This talented musical actor has covered a song by one of the most famous hungarian rock bands.)
Vágó Zsuzsi - Szívünk mélyén egy hang: ua-cam.com/video/kWmykkz3PZk/v-deo.html (A few years ago she was my voice teacher, one of Hungary's most wonderful musical actresses, and this song is one of her solos in the musical Marie Antoinette.)
Füredi Nikolett - Legyen hó: ua-cam.com/video/tiKqYITPCHA/v-deo.html (This is the hungarian version of Let It Go from Frozen. And she's actually Elsa's hungarian singing voice.)
Sorry for spamming you with links, but maybe it's easier to find them that way than just writing down what to look for. Maybe you'll give it a try. That would be great! Good luck with this great channel, I've been following you for months. Thanks for all the content so far and for future content! 😘
Beyond fabulous!! Wow!! I so much love your reaction Andy!! You are the best❤️
A master class of Lara.. Awesome ❤️
Saluti
She is the Best 👏👏
You're the best person to watch reactions from, i don't know what, but you sound so wholesome and it calms me down somehow
Thank you so much!
그녀는 유럽의 여왕입니다
Nice reaction. Everyone raves about her contemporary Celine Dion, but Lara trumps her in my book.
Oh, Andy, finally!!!!!
Sir, your way of analyzing and reacting to artists amuses me a lot 😄, I recommend listening to Chalino Sanchez, a person with a soft and beautiful tone when singing his rancheras, unfortunately he received a death letter...and was murdered, his legacy needs to be remembered 🪗
Great reaction! You should check out her live 2001 subtitled version of “Je T’aime”… It’s absolutely incredible!
Her fans knew she was going through a very difficult time in her life… They planned with some of Lara’s team to sing for her. The pianist stops playing to let the crowd do their thang.. they also changed the “I love you” to “we love you” as they serenaded her. Typing this gives me the chills!
New sub! Cheers from 🇨🇦
Impresionante en todos los sentidos
Hi, Andy! Great reaction! I would love to see your reaction of Laura Pausini and Lara Fabian singing La Solitudine live in Italy! Two powerful singers performing an iconic song in a beautiful place!
Yes!! It’s your lucky day! Lol. I have one: ua-cam.com/video/SaIiqACMQlY/v-deo.html

Hola Andy, te recomiendo la versión del grupo coreano Forestella, no te arrepentirás,, saludos,, 👏👏
You switched versions when you replayed the acapella section? I recognize both and was glad to see you switch, so you could see the minutes just after the end of the song.
That was by accident and totally worked out in my favor!! Yes!
Je l'ai déjà écouté une cinquantaine de fois et chaque fois une boule à l estomac et les larmes elle est magnifique ,écoute perdre l amor en italien , par amour en français, je t aime et tango merci
Thanks
I love your reaction 😍
Hope you can react to her performance of Caruso, please!
6:14 imagine hearing this live, this power

I think you could not do this song so beautifully in English, needs to be in French ❤
Amo a Lara Fabián, du vosz es excelente, más porque canta en 3 idiomas.
Es una lástima que no he vuelto a escuchar más música de ella, todavía recuerdo su álbum con canciones en español.
It's super epic, too, incredible, wonderful, it does it in such a wow way, it leaves you still, I love, thank you very much for the reaction
Also, for days I want to ask you to react to a soloist called "Kim Woojin" is South Korean and I really love his voice, he has covers in Korean and English, I especially recommend "Before you go" and "Easy on me", although if you want to react to something original from him, it can be his pre debut song "Still Dream" or one of his mini album called "Purple Sky", please, seriously it would make me happy, thanks for all the , although if you want to react to something original from him, it may be his pre debut song "Still Dream" or one of his mini album which is called "Purple Sky", please, seriously it would make me happy, thanks for all the reactions ❤️

Haha. Thanks!
You should react to "fuyu no hanashi", is a very beautyful song from an anime called "given"
She is fantastic and the song is beautiful. You should listen to Rammstein-Engel (Live from Madison Square Garden) its a different type of music but also beautiful.
