This song was written by Serge Lama (lyrics) and Alice Dona (melody) about 1971/1972. Serge Lama was married at this time to Daisy Brun, his press secretary. He met his future second wife Michèle Annie Potier who also was married at this time, and they fell in love. As Michèle Annie Potier was building up her musical career in Northern Africa at this time, they could not meet often. So, he told his friend, Alice Dona, that this situation makes him sick. Alice Dona wrote the tune in about 15 minutes (she was ashamed of this being so quickly and said it had to be whispered to her by angels) and gave it to Serge. He wrote the lyrics in about 2 hours. His disc company (Phillips) was hesitating to publish a title with "sickness", but it appeared on his next album. The song grew popular by the cover of the Egyptian-Italian singer Dalida. Since then, it is considered as a classic of the French chanson. Lara Fabian's version of it was chosen as his favourite by Serge Lama. Lara's interpretation of the song was constantly changing. You will find several versions by her on the internet. Sometimes the first half is just spoken, sometimes the whole end is a cappella. If this ua-cam.com/video/q_bq5mStroM/v-deo.html not existed, "Je suis malade" would be the saddest love song in French chanson history. About 2000 Sony Music tried to build Lara up to the mains of Mariah, Whitney and Celine. But due to various factors, including strong opposition of Celine Dion's management, artistic differences and personal problems, this failed. She is a big star in the francophone world, former Soviet Union states, in Brazil and also in Hispanic countries. According to all available information, she must be just the nicest person and most humble human being of all the great singers.
More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert. But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA is now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these) Out of my mind I can list: • Adagio, • Mademoiselle Hyde, • Know, • Love of tired swans, She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ». She covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva) And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina. This is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy who came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs: • Floor Jansen (Adagio) • Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime) • Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie) • Morissette Amon (Broken Vow) • Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace) • Cakra Khan (Broken Vow) • Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow) • Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade) • .... Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara. If you explore more of her songs, you will soon be hooked, I'm sure.

LARA FABIAN..... Je suis malade,....Adagio,....Broken Vow,....You Are Not From Here,...Caruso This performance was back in 1999, She is 52 years old now, still sings, writes, and an extremely intelligent woman. Speaks 6 languages, and is said to be able to sing in 12 languages. Don't feel bad, i only found out about Lara 2 weeks ago. It is like where the hell have i been?
You have a great journey in front of you, Lara has so many gems in her bag, in so many different ways. let us know if you want to get some advices about it.
Lara Fabian is Belgian Canadian! Her father is Belgian and her mother is Sicilian! She sings and speaks in a few languages! Her interpretation of Caruso is my favorite! The way she sings, you can't teach because it comes from within!

Today, she is 52 yo, and quite active! 😊✌
Very emotional reaction, and you're not the first to cry. Lara Fabian is one of the most emotional singers, one of the most powerful and her stage presence is incomparable. His original songs, ADAGIO LIVE, BROKEN VOW, LOVE BY GRACE, JE T'AIME LIVE IN PARIS are masterpieces. In Italian, two sublime performances CARUSO AND PERDERE L'AMORE, this song influenced Dimash and we can see the similarity between the two. Thank you from Montreal.
I am so pleased that you react to the beautiful, mesmerizing, greatest female voice on planet Earth, greatest performer Lara Fabian. More please like. Adagio to Caruso. You're not from here. Broken Vow. She is so amazing
Well my friend you just have meet the best female singer and performer o the world....The Queen, the amazing and stunning Lara Fabian....She is a lyric soprano with a amazing vocal range and incredible breath control...She speaks 5 languages and sings like in 12 languages...You can see on UA-cam covers of her songs made by singers of the stature of: Dimash Kudaibergen, Diana Ankudinova, Floor Jansen, Diana Navarro, Forestella, Morissette Amon, Gabriel Henrique, Katrina Velarde, Cakra Khan and others...Please react to her songs, all masterpieces, in LIVE versions, because Lara is more impressive when she sings live...Try to do it in this order and almost all songs are from the same Lara’s concert “From Lara With Love” in Montreal 1999, one of her best works: 1) Caruso (Singing in Italian)...2) Je T'AIME (2002 Live version in Paris Singing in French)...3) Perdere L'Amore (1999 Live version Singing in Italian)...4) Adagio (1999 Live version singing in english)...5) Broken Vow (1999 Live version singing in English)...6) You are Not From Here (1999 Live version singing in English)...7) Quédate (1999 Live version singing in Spanish)....8) Ti Amo Cosi (2019 Live version Singing a trío with Dimash and Aida Garifullina).
Lara is amazing. The first time I heard her she was performing "Caruso" and as I have said on other sites... she dropped me to my knees. I had to sit down and listen again. Of course that one is in Italian. She is multi-lingual and can sing in MANY different languages.
I am from Montréal Québec, and this wombat is amazing … everytime I listen this song I cry… thanks Angela, you were absolute right about here, she is from Belgium but she is in Montréal these days in a show cell Star Académie…. Love
Yessss. Exactly. This was my gateway drug to Fabian and I reacted just like you. "Who...what...WHO IS THIS?!?!" And down the rabbithole I went. I've only grown to admire her more as an _astonishing_ all-around artist. While she does compose/write most of her own material (in French/English/Italian/Soanish), the extra amazing thing about Je Suis Malads is that it's a cover (that she tweaked in some pretty substantial & brilliant ways.) She waa classically trained at a conservatory for 10 years. Calls herself a "songwriter with a voice." The perfect marriage of technical mastery & emotive performance skills. Would love to see more of you discovery the wonder that is this Artist. This is a great concert for those of us who first discover Fabian. Her English-language originals Adagio & Broken Vow might be good next stops. (The chanel "Macadamia" has all the performances from that cobcert upscaled with onscreen English subtitles for the French/Italian/Soanish songs.) Fantastic authentic reaction. Thank you. 🖖🏽
@@DoggieFosters why ? Because we always have to bring the real facts here that’s all Lara as always comes second when it comes to comparing her with Celine that’s just being honest you may not like it but it’s the truth 🤷♂️
I have seen this song many times and it always has the same effect, she almost takes your breath away,by the end you are completely mesmerized! Great reaction!
From a chanel that upscaled all the songs (with English subtitles where needed) from the concert From Lara With Love: ua-cam.com/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/v-deo.html
Thanks. Incredible summed it up. She had bad personal experiences herself, but this is a cover of Serge Lama's song about his own experiences separated from his love.. The performance was not a fluke. Lara Fabian's live performances are ...well, incredible. For a song in English you might try her live performance of "Adagio", or of "You're Not From Here" from the same concert. If you do a UA-cam search for "Lara Fabian" there are many, many other choices, all good
I NEVER EXPECTED THAT REACTION! You listeen and did not react much while she was performing. At the end, You began to cry a little and then....BANG like a volcano, you burst out against who did this to her. You are as emotional as she was in that song. I love it. Cheers.
I know it came out of nowhere. But as I was giving my review it just hit me and I got mad. Because I just felt her pain. Yeah, that was kinda weird. Lol
Lara is a consummate artist and one of the best female singers we have today. ( my opinon) loved the reaction and please listen to more of her as she also sings in many languages, including english. Loved this reaction. As always stay safe and much love to you and yours.
Great reaction, honest feelings. TY!!! She does what she did to you, to us all. Repeatedly. She is a Sorceress Queen, she puts us under a spell and then plays with our emotions at will. We are mesmerized. Spellbound...unable to get out of Lara's world. And when the song is over - we start it over and play it again. We search for and listen to her body of work, we tell our friends, we share her art. And then? We come and watch reactions to her videos trying to recapture the moment it happened to us. For it was so sweet, so sublime, game-changing. Millions can tell you how they feel cheated, sickened, that they did not discover Lara sooner...I am counted in that group. She IS the Sorcerer Queen, long may she reign.
Incredible is an understatement. She has tremendous stage presence and her songs are perfection. I would suggest you watch both "Adagio" and "Caruso" from her "From Lara With Love" concert. I would also see her live performance of "Je t' emi" where the audience serenades her. Her vocal control, breathing and the quality of her voice are, to me, unmatched. Please followup with more of Lara Fabian it is worth you while.
Oh my god! This song is a cover from Serge Lama, in the 70's, the lyrics are from Alice Donna... In fact, it's his story. Lara Fabian had bad moments, maybe in the same way, I don't know. By the way, I know her performance by heart because I 'm in the same case, even I' m divorced, and this never stops... So, I was watching you, only you, I saw your face changing, I saw the lyrics coming to your heart, you didn't stop the song, thanks for that... And your reaction is so touching, really... Your feeling is true, authentic and with empathy.... You don't have to cut the song to give your opinion, we feel it... It's one of the best reactions I saw and I thank you for that, your a real person... Love from France 🇫🇷😘
This performance is, if not the best ever. certainly is waaaaaaaaay ahead of whatever ranks number three. Lara Fabian is the ultimate artist - she paints a complete picture with her incredible voice and her emotions a picture of the story then invites her audience to join her in the journey into that story to form an indelible memory which you can draw upon forever. A great reaction to a masterful performance --
Yup... that is the perfectly appropriate reaction to Lara. She weaves a spell and brings you into every one of her performances. It leaves you gutted.. but in a mind blowingly good way. You’ve just scratched the surface of her talent.... you definitely need to see more. I would suggest Adagio, Broken Vow and Caruso next.... start there... fall in love... then explore more of her career because it really is a masterpiece
Lara is an amazing talent. I have loved her since the nineties. Thanks so much for your emotional reaction. I shared tears with you. Your big heart came shining through.
Such a beautiful heart touching and genuine reaction from you. There’s so much to discover about the incomparable Lara Fabian. She’s a genius artist, singer songwriter with the uncanny ability to capture the enth degree of raw emotion. She sings in 12 languages. A dear close friend of hers from South America was murdered in a domestic violence situation. Lara wrote the song Llora in her memory and honor as a message to the world about domestic violence. In the MV, Lara portrays her dead friend. She had a long and beautiful friendship with Maurane, a famous Belgian singer and they performed a duet of the song Mon Autre for many years. The depth and passion of the lyrics cannot be appreciated in listening once or twice. Listening and watching them perform this song is an experience. Lara worked closely with Igor Krutoy for many years. Lara was a childhood idol of Dimash Kudaibergen and you can see and feel the emotion when he finally has the opportunity to perform with her at Igor’s 65th Anniversary program, Ti Amo Cosi. Lara and Igor have taken an active interest in Dimash and composing/writing lyrics for songs for Dimash. Lara wrote English lyrics for Adagio, Mademossoile Hyde which Dimash also sings. The list of all of Lara’s accomplishments are staggering. Interesting fact. In 1988 Eurovision, Celine Dion won the competition and Lara Fabian came in 4th. Their career paths went in different directions and though Celine is extremely popular she’s mostly associated with belting out songs from her Las Vegas residency whereas Lara’s talents have soared throughout the universe, singing in 12 languages. Dimash and Lara Fabian are the all time greatest ARTISTS of the century in my humble opinion. Thank you for your genuine reaction. Please continue to explore Lara Fabian and Dimash Kudaibergen.
"Incredible"... yes Angela that works. It is hard to assign words to Lara's performances because they are transcendent. I've been listening for years to her and am still without words to describe her. Please do more. Thank you.
I am looking for words. Your reaction is so personal and intense. I notice that you listened to the whole song without interupting and your reaction was one of a fragile and good humain being. Bless you my sister.
Enjoyed your reaction. As you rightly noted, Lara does not sing songs, she performs, and I think this is possibly the greatest performance of a song I have ever seen. I must have watched the original video and reactions to it, well over 100 times. The first time being several years ago before there were any subtitles. But lyrics were not needed, as Lara perfectly conveyed the emotion of the song through her voice, and in fact her entire body. I remember it was the first time I had ever sat there clapping at my laptop (as if she could here me, Lol) after listening to a song on UA-cam. Practically every song she performed at this 'From Lara With Love' concert was amazing. I only wish I had been in that audience.
Lara is amazing! I wish you would play Caruso by her! It will literally make you cry! She sings that tune in Italian! 1st time hear on this one and I dig it! She sings with her all! Your description and reaction nailed it!
I was so touched by your reaction. First and foremost, please know that this was a cover. After Lara Fabian finishes with any cover, of course, she makes the song her own as she's been one of the best artists consistently over several decades. I'm so glad that you're bringing her to the attention of an American audience as she's not well known in this country despite being an international superstar for a long time. And she's a wonderful human being too!
A lovely sense of empathy. It was a song that she identified with greatly as I understand it. And one that she expressed difficulty in performing. Well done
That was an amazing performance done by an amazing singer! She truly makes you feel every word. Thank you Angela for your heartfelt reaction. Take care❤
What a visceral reaction! I felt sad for you too, but also joyful at your discovery of Lara! I have subscribed. I am one of those who places Lara Fabian in the top rank in world singers , along with singers such as Whitney Houston and Barbara Streisand. For expressive performance, none is her equal. She isn't connected to any of the major studios, has been performing finternationally for more than thirty years and is well-known outside the USA. She is a Belgian and Canadian citizen. Perhaps "Adagio" or "You are Not from Here" from her "From Lara With Love" concert, are two good starters to get to know her. Cheers!
Great reaction ! You just met the real vocal gem of our times. I will post another comment giving more information on her background, career and influence on the new generation of vocalists. I would like to see more reacts on her songs, you will enjoy this great journey as she always connect you to the emotions and the story and you will discover how immense are her vocal capabilities. I subscribed.
OMG, she brings tears, to this 89 yr. old man. She put's her whole heart and soul in to her performance. So was so emotiotionally drained , after that performance
That was a hell of a great reaction - for me, having watched Lara 100 times your reaction was even more touching than her performance, you really let her under your skin! Big hug! (She's doing fine...). More Lara for me anytime, you'll find plenty and more info on her in your other comments...
Thank you for the reaction to Lara. She sings with full emotion and passion. She is unique and phenomenal. She is DIMASH idol. If you haven’t heard DIMASH. She should check him out. The same like her, he sings with emotion and passion. You can start with his performance of the song S.O.S 2021. Then you understand. Great reaction. 100 likes. Greetings from Vietnam 🇻🇳.
Thank you for reacting to this amazing performance! Lara Fabian is classically trained; she is just an amazing vocalist and performer. I first came across her over 20 years ago, in 2000, when she released her English-language debut album, called 'Lara Fabian.' She performed a dance single called 'I Will Love Again' on a TV show and I knew I had to buy the album. I still love that album, but since then, she's released albums in many languages. She is Belgian and her background is also Italian, via her mother. She is fluent in a number of languages. I recommend checking out her performance of 'Adagio' from this same concert next.
when Serge Lama created and performed this song in 1973, this song spoke of the sadness of a man. The superb interpretation of Lara Fabian gives a more emotional side to the fact that it is a woman who sings it. What this song shows is that sadness has no gender, emotion is emotion.
@@Douxidoux Please educate yourself about who wrote this song and why - it is a classic from France and even though she does a great interpretation, she is not the first one singing it, but one in a long line of singers who did for the last 60 years
@@snafuart the subject is not who wrote this song. but according to you nobody broke his heart while your assertion is false, there is the song broken vow written by Lara Fabian in 1999 which speaks of the betrayal of her husband, review your education you will be less ridiculous
@@snafuart PS: the one who wrote this song is Serge Lama in 1973. 60 years? 1973 to 2023 = 50 years in France and I am French. Il faut arrêter de raconter n'importe quoi surtout quand on n'y connait rien
Lara can really suck you in and make you feel every emotion .You feel the desperation as the pain is so intense , her voice makes you believe her every word, her expression as she says she is sick from his lack of acknowledging it, she is literally bent is half as if she cannot bear it anymore , that she is losing her mind as well as the will to live.I' ve never met another singer that can draw you in as her! She is unique.Notice at the end when the song is over, it takes a few minutes to gain her exposure, to come back from where she was which was living every emotion she was relaying to us because she truly was living them and most of us felt them as well!
Look at her face at the end of the song as she stands there with the audience applauding. She looks emotionally drained. In my opinion one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.
Dear Angela, Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your reaction of Je Suis Malade. I've been a Lara Fabian fan for many years and have been fortunate to have seen her live on many occasions ( I believe 9 times in total) in both large as well as more intimate venues (which I enjoy more). While there are many reaction on UA-cam to Lara's rendition dealing doe the most part on more technical vocal issues, what I love about yours is you had no prior knowledge of Lara or the song and your reaction is so pure and wonderful. Thank you.
Have been trying to get you to react to Lara for months ! She did not write this song, but has the BEST interpretation ! Lara speaks French, Italian, Spanish and English fluently as well as a bit of Flemish, and can sing in about 12 different languages ! The English comes from living in Montreal, where this concert was performed ! Now react to some that she wrote, such as Broken Vow, Adagio or even You're not from here !
Dear young lady, I have listened to this song by Lara at least a thousand times and I have never heard anyone react to it like you. You really touched my heart deeply and I think you have a very beautiful heart. You are a great treasure just as Laura Fabian (and Angelina Jordan) are treasures. I wish you very great happiness. Please react much more to Laura and Angelina, ok?
"Je suis malade" (I am sick) is a 1973 song written by Serge Lama. First performed by Lama with no success… So we can really say that surprisingly this moving interpretation is not based on her personal story…
"Adagio" in English (for which she wrote the lyrics) , "Caruso" in Italian (use the New Citizen Edition with subtitles), "Broken Vow" in English (which she wrote). Watch the videos from Lara with Love concert. Then watch "Je t'aime" Live from Paris 2001. She speaks 5 languages with no accent.
You may be interested in the chanel "Macadamia." That chanel has most all the performances from the From Lara With Love concert upscaled to crisp, colorful quality with onscreen English subs for the French/Italian/Spanish songs. 🖖🏽
Thank you for reacting to this, and yes, you should react to many of her masterpieces. And make sure that you react to her live performances. You won’t regret it. Her live performances are genuinely soul-touching, and she should be studied by anybody striving to be an Exquisite Singer, performer, singer-songwriter, and so on. Last but not least, she is a beautiful human being and a role model for a new generation of artists, such as Dimash and others. Thanks again! #LaraFabian 💛💚💙🇧🇷
good reaction. she's been big for abut 30 years but just found out in the States recently. This performance is from a con cert called From Lara with love. You'll find other songs from the same concert like Caruso, Adagio and others. Have a great pleasure to continue discovering Lara. You'll shed some tears. Broken Vow is very touching.
Lara is probably one of the best performer, she always living the song at 110%. she's now 50 years old and she's coaching young talents in a kind of The Voice's like. As teacher she explain that all singers must look in their heart or their soul something that will match with the emotions of the song. Seing and analysing your reaction I suggest you some Lara's song that you must listen in this sequel Broken vow ( she wrote ) ua-cam.com/video/FNVR0yK8Ec8/v-deo.html Je t'aime ( she whote ) ua-cam.com/video/qO3b-MyyTZg/v-deo.html Caruso ua-cam.com/video/BYQtXYZnJrs/v-deo.html Adagio ( she wrote ) ua-cam.com/video/jKtNuLG5jAo/v-deo.html ...and many morer if you want to, but it's a good beginning. Take care!
She's well known in Europe but not so much in the US. I think she is currently one of the judges on the French version of The Voice. She has so many outstanding songs!
She was judge in the voice 2020 but hat to step down the year after due to pandemic as she is living in Montreal. She now has been director and coach at the Star Academy Quebec for the last 2 seasons and is impressive in this role. Last week, she made the following advice that resonate so well with this Je suis malade rendition: « how to sing emotions without impacting your voice? Sing emotions with your heart, with your head but not with your throat, keep your throat free » It seems like it is easy for her 🤣 I never saw another artist writing this line between singing and crying as good as Lara
Linda reacción! Obra maestra impresionante de Lara Fabián, la mejor cantante e intérprete del mundo entero! Reaccióne a Caruso,You're not From here, Adagio, Perdere l'amore, To love again, Love by Grace, Tomorrow is a lie, Angels pass away, Lebedy, Tout, Lou, Gottingen, Calling You,Mademoiselle hide! Gracias!
Since I first encountered her voice in France, in 2000, I was mesmerized by her. By far, she is the best female vocalist since Barbara Streisand. It's tragic that the Americans never picked up on her. She is a true sensation both in France and Canada, where she got her start.
Love ❤️ Lara Fabian from VIETNAM 🇻🇳. She is fantastic. She sings with full emotion and passion. I cried when I listened to her. Thank you for the great reaction. 100 likes.
I'm French and when I listen to the Diva Lara Fabian sing I burst into tears...they flow on their own. The texts, the musicality and especially the interpretation of Lara are incredible? She is moving and captivating, you would think she is telling her own life, just wonderful... she gives me goosebumps this song. One of the most beautiful songs of all time... A great artist, again BRAVO LARA
Not everyone has lost a love so dear that you get sick....lose weight....lose time.....It happens, like drug withdrawal. If you never felt that, you don't know how real this song is.
Lara is a supreme performer that doesn’t just sing to an audience: She sucks them into her own world of emotions and traps them there up till the very last note. You should react to her other outwardly performances: -Adagio: ua-cam.com/video/jKtNuLG5jAo/v-deo.html (English) -Caruso: ua-cam.com/video/ch7Dz2CIRy4/v-deo.html (Italian with English subtitles) -Broken Vow: ua-cam.com/video/FNVR0yK8Ec8/v-deo.html (English) -Requiem pour un fou: ua-cam.com/video/zR1rkt_0biA/v-deo.html (Duet with Johnny Hallyday; French with English subtitles) -Mademoiselle Hyde: ua-cam.com/video/DuSDdjU4S8M/v-deo.html (English)
Normal to be touched deeply since even now with Dimash and many other new great talents, she stays somewhere on the top.(in this genre of course) Her songs are like one of those things you proudly show to aliens.
Make no mistake… she is the best there has ever been. Nice reaction.
most singers sing you a song, but Lara sings for you a story.
Vous m'avez fait pleurer aussi
You are such a beautiful soul...
Your light shines so bright...
Great comment.
More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
• she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total
• she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
• she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
• she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia).
She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA is now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these)
Out of my mind I can list:
• Adagio,
• Mademoiselle Hyde,
• Know,
• Love of tired swans,
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
She covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva)
And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
• Floor Jansen (Adagio)
• Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime)
• Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie)
• Morissette Amon (Broken Vow)
• Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace)
• Cakra Khan (Broken Vow)
• Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow)
• Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade)
• ....
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.
If you explore more of her songs, you will soon be hooked, I'm sure.
thank you for all these useful and never boring informations
Beautiful and excellent synopsis of Lara and her accomplishments. You described it all in a superb manner. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for this info on Lara… she is superb!

I see you’ve finally found Lara. She is amazing and I think you’ll surely listen to more.
This performance was STUNNING in every sense of the word! Just watching your reaction alone is proof of that.
Lara Fabian is Belgian Canadian! Her father is Belgian and her mother is Sicilian! She sings and speaks in a few languages! Her interpretation of Caruso is my favorite! The way she sings, you can't teach because it comes from within!
oh yes Caruso (italian song, that you can find with subtitles)
+1 Caruso (be sure to pick the new HQ video...)
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... We can debate her rank in this list.
There are also a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing without amplification in venues with like 8,000 attendees. Hence, her nickname among her peers is "the ring"!
Fabian is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans three octaves from C3 to A5 in live performances.

Awww honey she made you so emotional!! 😢
Well she's certainly not recognized in the lousy US. Never heard of her when I was there
Lara is amazing. The first time I heard her she was performing "Caruso" and as I have said on other sites... she dropped me to my knees. I had to sit down and listen again. Of course that one is in Italian. She is multi-lingual and can sing in MANY different languages.
THE BEST OF THE BEST, ONE BEAST ON STAGE , THE MOST INCREDIBLE PERFORMER....
Wow I dont know her but she has s beautiful voice
and knows how to use it
I am from Montréal Québec, and this wombat is amazing … everytime I listen this song I cry… thanks Angela, you were absolute right about here, she is from Belgium but she is in Montréal these days in a show cell Star Académie…. Love
We've all been there my dear. Lara just MOVES you. THE best storyteller and conveyor of emotion.
Yessss. Exactly. This was my gateway drug to Fabian and I reacted just like you. "Who...what...WHO IS THIS?!?!" And down the rabbithole I went. I've only grown to admire her more as an _astonishing_ all-around artist. While she does compose/write most of her own material (in French/English/Italian/Soanish), the extra amazing thing about Je Suis Malads is that it's a cover (that she tweaked in some pretty substantial & brilliant ways.)
She waa classically trained at a conservatory for 10 years. Calls herself a "songwriter with a voice."
The perfect marriage of technical mastery & emotive performance skills.
Would love to see more of you discovery the wonder that is this Artist.
This is a great concert for those of us who first discover Fabian.
Her English-language originals Adagio & Broken Vow might be good next stops. (The chanel "Macadamia" has all the performances from that cobcert upscaled with onscreen English subtitles for the French/Italian/Soanish songs.)
Fantastic authentic reaction. Thank you. 🖖🏽
Broken Vow ua-cam.com/video/kJBGCI8aSE4/v-deo.html
She’s all that of course but will always comes second to Celine vocally let’s be real here 😉🤷♂️
@@lenstgelais7376 Why do you people always do this? It's juvenile & risible.
@@DoggieFosters why ? Because we always have to bring the real facts here that’s all Lara as always comes second when it comes to comparing her with Celine that’s just being honest you may not like it but it’s the truth 🤷♂️
@@lenstgelais7376 Keep showing yourself for exactly what you are. 🤏
Your reaction ist so beautiful and honest...thank you so much!🙏🙏💞💞
I have seen this song many times and it always has the same effect, she almost takes your breath away,by the end you are completely mesmerized! Great reaction!
Such a great great review equally as good as Lara Fabian's performance. I want to watch you both again--Thank you
a must song of hers Adagio, love your reactions
Once your hear Lara sing your heart is forever changed!
From a chanel that upscaled all the songs (with English subtitles where needed) from the concert From Lara With Love: ua-cam.com/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/v-deo.html
Thanks. Incredible summed it up. She had bad personal experiences herself, but this is a cover of
Serge Lama's song about his own experiences separated from his love.. The performance was not
a fluke. Lara Fabian's live performances are ...well, incredible. For a song in English you might try
her live performance of "Adagio", or of "You're Not From Here" from the same concert. If you do
a UA-cam search for "Lara Fabian" there are many, many other choices, all good
I NEVER EXPECTED THAT REACTION!
Lol
@@DayOneReacts That's Lara's talent, and the fact that you reacted this way means your heart is really healthy !
Lara is a consummate artist and one of the best female singers we have today. ( my opinon) loved the reaction and please listen to more of her as she also sings in many languages, including english. Loved this reaction. As always stay safe and much love to you and yours.
I agree about Lara- a fantastic story teller. She is one of the best in using her body to emote what she is feeling.
Your big heart came shining through.
i am impressed by your ability to express your emotions and thoughts!..well done...i will continue to watch you.
Lara is fabulous! One of the best singers I’ve heard. This is sad but beautiful.
Lara is a powerful performer who pours her soul into her songs and performances. You would do well to watch more of her videos/performances.
I have to be honest, this one really made me cry!
Great reaction. I always get goosebumps watching Lara.
Lara is amazing! I wish you would play Caruso by her! It will literally make you cry! She sings that tune in Italian! 1st time hear on this one and I dig it! She sings with her all! Your description and reaction nailed it!
Upscaled with onscreen English subtitles

Great choice. She is a fabulous singer. This a real powerful performance full of emotion and a great track, too. Glad you liked it as well.
Well done
Can't wait till you react to Adagio and or Broken Vow, 2 originals she wrote.
Hermosa reacción💯, nadie puede ser indiferente a una interpretación de Lara, es increíble, es una experiencia de otro nivel.
Lara is next level, no doubt.
I know the name Lara Fabian, but iv'e never heard nor seen her! Lovely and heartbreaking!
Totally in love with Lara, she is great.
Lara can be considered as the best French-speaking singer since Edith Piaf. She is a diva, an angel and definitely the queen of emotional ballads.
OMG, she brings tears, to this 89 yr. old man. She put's her whole heart and soul in to her performance. So was so emotiotionally drained , after that performance
By principle, I love anyone who loves Lara Fabian and ELO 🙂
The translation is "I am sick." As a love song it's probably saying I'm heartbroken. I don't remember much from my French classes lol.
That was a hell of a great reaction - for me, having watched Lara 100 times your reaction was even more touching than her performance, you really let her under your skin! Big hug! (She's doing fine...). More Lara for me anytime, you'll find plenty and more info on her in your other comments...
Thanks for this request! Didn’t know Lara till now. Angela and her subs keep bringing the very best! Great reaction. Stunning.
Nobody broke her heart, she is just performing one of the best interpretations of a classic in here.
No she was betrayed by her first husband
@@Douxidoux Please educate yourself about who wrote this song and why - it is a classic from France and even though she does a great interpretation, she is not the first one singing it, but one in a long line of singers who did for the last 60 years
@@snafuart
the subject is not who wrote this song. but according to you nobody broke his heart while your assertion is false, there is the song broken vow written by Lara Fabian in 1999 which speaks of the betrayal of her husband, review your education you will be less ridiculous
Laura was born in Belgium reason is only in Canada. She speaks five languages fluently and can sing in 12 languages she is a special human being
Dear Angela, Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your reaction of Je Suis Malade. Thank you.
you should watch more of the ending. she is so in her character, she's literally shaking from emotion....
Welcome to my club . All Lara songs are beautiful .
10,000 views so quickly. Not bad, but This superb reaction deserves much more!
Please react much more to Laura and Angelina, ok?
well said!
She is one of the best ever....amazing...thank you reacting
Too bloody right, she's brilliant! Now, react to her live 'Caruso' and it will astound you!
"Je suis malade" (I am sick) is a 1973 song written by Serge Lama. First performed by Lama with no success…
So we can really say that surprisingly this moving interpretation is not based on her personal story…
Here is the Dalida version that has surely influenced this interpretation by Lara Fabian ua-cam.com/video/8wOaMqC5n7s/v-deo.html
Lara Fabian is Fabulous!
Je t'aime - live in Paris by the amazing lara fabian.
You must see it 🌷🌷🌷
Thank you for reacting to this, and yes, you should react to many of her masterpieces.
Seing and analysing your reaction I suggest you some Lara's song that you must listen in this sequel
Broken vow ( she wrote ) ua-cam.com/video/FNVR0yK8Ec8/v-deo.html
Je t'aime ( she whote ) ua-cam.com/video/qO3b-MyyTZg/v-deo.html
Caruso ua-cam.com/video/BYQtXYZnJrs/v-deo.html
Adagio ( she wrote ) ua-cam.com/video/jKtNuLG5jAo/v-deo.html
...and many morer if you want to, but it's a good beginning. Take care!
THANK YOU ! 😉👍😉
She's well known in Europe but not so much in the US. I think she is currently one of the judges on the French version of The Voice. She has so many outstanding songs!
Mrs Lara is the Director of the Star Academy in Canada 👌
She was judge in the voice 2020 but hat to step down the year after due to pandemic as she is living in Montreal.
She now has been director and coach at the Star Academy Quebec for the last 2 seasons and is impressive in this role.
Last week, she made the following advice that resonate so well with this Je suis malade rendition: « how to sing emotions without impacting your voice? Sing emotions with your heart, with your head but not with your throat, keep your throat free »
It seems like it is easy for her 🤣
I never saw another artist writing this line between singing and crying as good as Lara
A great artist, again BRAVO LARA
здесь голос+эмоции боль любовь и потери😥😥Высшее искусство!!!Спасибо что слушали❤👍👍👍
You should react to her other outwardly performances:
-Adagio: ua-cam.com/video/jKtNuLG5jAo/v-deo.html (English)
-Caruso: ua-cam.com/video/ch7Dz2CIRy4/v-deo.html (Italian with English subtitles)
-Broken Vow: ua-cam.com/video/FNVR0yK8Ec8/v-deo.html (English)
-Requiem pour un fou: ua-cam.com/video/zR1rkt_0biA/v-deo.html (Duet with Johnny Hallyday; French with English subtitles)
-Mademoiselle Hyde: ua-cam.com/video/DuSDdjU4S8M/v-deo.html (English)
Lara is simply the best female singer of all times! Period
Lara is really famous in Europe and Asia.
Normal to be touched deeply since even now with Dimash and many other new great talents, she stays somewhere on the top.(in this genre of course) Her songs are like one of those things you proudly show to aliens.
Lara is an incredible multilingual storyteller. Please react to "Broken vow" in English, or "Caruso" In Italian.
Nice reaction ! Please, don't take too much time for the others... about 293 other songs of hers are down the line to react. Good luck ! ❤
You are so soulful you feel other people's pain you are such a beautiful soul to be so sensitive to others troubles
