Its funny how my first thought is how It would be possible to attach a motor!.. This is maybe the smallest hand powered shaper I've seen. Others being more or less double this size. What a nice tool to have.
There was an article written in a magazine that i think was Popular Mechanics back in the 50's where the author described how to make your own small hand operated shaper. I can't remember the dimensions but i think that the whole shaper was probably smaller than the vise of the shaper in the video, just for scale.
Looks great, for the amount and type of shaping I require, that would be just the ticket. And probably more in line with my budget too. Do you have any more information available?.
I was just day dreaming the other day and started to think about wether or not it would be worth while to build a manual shaping machine. I didn’t know they actually existed until I saw this video.
Very nice machine, you should use it with the lever on the other side of the machine. Now you are pushing to cut, turn the lever to the other side and you will be pulling to cut. This way you are able to create a lot more power and it will be easier to operate the machine.

@@aceroadholder2185 This design requires a machine shop just to build the pieces. Nice little piece though. The part that has to have 45 degree cuts. It would be easier just to make that out of a solid piece or built some other way maybe with a square tubing shimmed with the appropriate cuts.
Was this just a vise you modified or is it an actual product? Very nice little machine. I would probably add a belt drive and just use a generic motor to run it and other tools.
You should see the manual version of the iPhone it is hand cranked, the display is monochrome with a resolution of 80 columns and weights 500kg. But the power source is guaranteed to last as long as you live. Oh and there is only one programmer, her name is Ada. It call an iMslow.
In our apprentice shop, 58yrs ago, we used a very old rattler and for small jobs it was fear all the way, we couldn't see and it made strange noises. Oh for one of these.
When was that made and by whom? It looks like it's industrial grade. What was it's original purpose? Clock making? I'd love to know the story behind it.
@@Feinwerk-uhrentechnik Would you know who the maker is? See I would really like to add this to my very small collection of machine blue prints. Thank you for getting back with me.
It just sounds like that... what you are hearing is the (hinged) clapper-box which the cutter tool is mounted on , lifting on the return stroke to prevent rubbing , also the ratchet pawl for rotating the cross feed leadscrew makes a clicking noise...... I think of the sounds as a "heartbeat" 😎👍☘
“The only thing you can’t make with a shaper is money”
I've heard that often, and yet I still make money.
मेरे को यह वीडियो बहुत पसंद आई है,
आपका बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद भाई साहब जी
It gives a new meaning to making something " single handed. " I can see it developing ones arms like blacksmith. A very cool device and a fine video.
That's a neat tool, there are few machines I've never seen in my lifetime but that is one I've never seen, a manual shaper!
Set up a gym with all manual machinery like this one. It would actually be fun to go to the gym and a great workout
Just seeing this for the first time…..how amazing!!!! What a beautiful machine!👍😃

Ну почему не актуален, я бы себе взял такой станочек в мастерскую. Нам, хоббистам, очень даже актуален.

This is the cutest machine tool I have ever seen. I need one.
Exactly such a thing I'm looking for ages.. Perfect.. 👍

Brilliant. Hats off to the designer

С таким станком, только дзен познавать. У меня бы терпения не хватило, установил бы движок.....
Piece of art magnificent
Very neat!
I like the way it all adjusts - setting up mine can be a hassle.
How big is it, dimensions like the stroke, travel and width of the vise?

Cool work out.

Very smart good idea 😊
Very Cute, thanks for sharing.
are machines like that still manufactured? where it would be possible to buy one?
I love intelligent people this machine was seeing more interesting type of last days
Wait!
This is a thing?
I know someone who could put one to use.
He is going to love this thanks.
Wow!!!! So cool
Sweet little machine! It could use some oil...
Nice machine sure would like to find one for myself.
Love this
May i ask the workable dimension for this particular hand shaper seems small could be a great hand file substitute if the ram stroke was longer

if you are to weak to push just add a longer lever or a smaller gear

I have an Adept that has been modified to be operated by a heavy wheel and handle, it is far better than the lever in my opinion.
A little beauty.
Impressive!

Just when you thought surface grinding was slow.
Geeeez! Whats a heavy cut on that thing, .005" ?
Dunno. It's a German machine, so metric cuts only.
Nice
